I come here when I need art supplies but I do have to say that their selection in markers/pens have basically dissolved into nothing. I come here because it is convenient but other than that, the service here sometimes is quite inconsistent and slow. There are $1ish deals at the front of the store near the cash register, which has some great deals here and there. Their scrapbooking department seems to continue to grow while the drawing section continues to shrink. Their frame section is still quite nice and not too expensive. Arts n Crafts store close to home. I don't know why, but I find items a little harder to track down here than at the other stores I've been to. But there's always been a service staff member to point me in the right direction. On a few occasions, they haven't had what I was looking for...I'm usually running in to pick up fondant or something for my wife when she's baking, so being as big as it is, you'd think they'd have a better inventory. For us Walnut-ians, we had to go to the Rowland Heights area to get to any sort of crafty store, especially because Jo'ann's closed. Anyways, this Michael's is huge and clean. Everything is organized to it's proper area, and there's likely a huge selection of whatever it is that you're looking for. Also, definitely try and use those weekly ad coupons! I am giving my rating based on the customer service I got Monday around 7ish. The blonde hair girl wearing an elf hat at the first register had the worst customer service. She seemed very annoyed as she attended customers. I smiled at her when I approached the register but she looked away and frown. Like you have to be thankful she's ringing up your items. Or have to be intimidated to ask any questions. I felt terrible after leaving this store. I don't think I will return. I felt very discriminated. read more

So my 11 year old and I went in real fast to get some beads and I experienced Terrible customer service and attitude from a WORKER named JORDAN (she has pink hair). You can tell she hates her job. I mean why are you there if you hate your job. She must of been mad to do go backs because she was throwing the items in her card really hard as if she was pissed. Then she decided to go into the area that we were in and starts getting items that are right by us. She even reached over my daughter to get this wood board (talk about invading personal space) she got really close to my daughters face with that board so I told her to watch it that she almost hit my daughter. She respond back that she didn't and started giving me attitude so I asked for her manager. When I walked away she started talking in her walkie-talkies and looking at me and laughing. So I asked the girl at the register if I can talk to her manager (she was really nice and understanding) I didn't get her name. Manager CJ came and I told him what happened and Jordan was walking by so I said loud that she was very unprofessional and she stood there from afar just staring at me with a grin on her face. I told the manager to look at her she is very rude and unprofessional. He said he would talk to her. But will that really happen? Never going to that Michael's again. read more

I was, a bit, confused upon entering but the holiday stuff kinda kicks you in the face right off the bat. There are many deals in the front that pull you into the store and offered me things that I wasn't expecting to see. There are many aisles and lots of nice things going on. I found the crafting section a bit overwhelming but everything is clearly marked and noted for the decoration seeker. Most of the staff are knowledgeable of where things are, not too much running around blankly, and the line was short in the morning but with only one cashier, I guess it's to save money for the store? It seems that both managers and associates don't like to PHYSICALLY check for stock. I called twice( literally just a day apart) to ask for a specific size in a Gildan Sweatshirt. The 1st time I called they said they had 6 in the size I was requesting, and then I called today and the sales associate only said that her manager told her that they don't carry that size without even physically checking. So I spoke with the sales associate to confirm by looking cause I was told the night before that they did have them, and the manager came on to the phone and basically said that they don't have it at all. Not even bothering to check. I have worked for retail many years already and the customer service of this store for not bothering to check for a simple sweater is horrible! For even the Manager to come to the phone and say that they don't have it without checking even though a team member went to check the night before and stated there were 6 left. I have never had a problem here until today. I called ahead of time asking about their kids craft class. I saw online that they would be doing a 4th of July craft. I work with small children and thought it might be fun to bring them here, where it's nice and cool and they could do a fun activity. I called in for information and asked if I had to pay for anything or if there would be any fees. The lady I spoke with said no fees, that they would provide all supplies for craft. She also told me I could come anytime from 1pm-3pm. She told me there was not a specific craft, that the kids could make anything with the red, white and blue supplies they would provide. So when I got into work I told my 2 coworkers and all 6 kids (all kids under 5), that we would do a fun craft and then go to Chick-fil-A. They were super excited and it took as like an hour just to get them ready and in their car seats. It was no easy task as some of you can imagine...anyway, we finally get there with 20 minutes to spare and no one is in the craft room. It looks like they cleaned up or finished already. I decided to ask an associate and she said they are done for today. I was like but I called and she said it's till 3pm..then she was like well the craft takes 45 minutes to 1 hr to make... So I pleaded with her explaining I spoke with someone from their store and they gave me the wrong info, and on top of it I already had all the kids there and they were starting to get antsy. I asked if there was an alternate craft they could do, even if it was just simple coloring. They said no, they didn't even try to be helpful. They just kept explaining what actually should have been said to me. They just said no. No we're sorry, nothing. Kids were so bummed. Do you think they were happy to go straight back to the car? Do you think they went back in their car seats easy? So disappointed with their customer service and lack of knowledge in the associate who I spoke with. Everything was clean and everyone was friendly and also seemed to be following pandemic rules except for some girl named Jordan with pink hair. I liked the hair but the attitude was terrible! I backed up from where I was standing and she almost hit me with her cart, my boyfriend helped both of us and moved me out of the way and even apologized to said employee and she just rolled her eyes and shook her head. On top of that she wasn't even wearing her mask. She was extremely rude and it ruined my entire shopping experience. This Michaels is nice because it is close to my house - and near major streets and freeways. I like it because it does not get as messy as many of the many other locations in the Los Angeles area. The items are usually kept well stocked and there is a good variety. Definitely look at the sale ads before you visit and try to know the general prices of what you are purchasing. You can get a good deal if you shop smart or you can pay too much for your needed items. Other craft stores like JoAnns or mass merchandisers or discount stores might have a better price or sale for your craft item. Agreed that the staff here might not always be the most helpful (I have stood at the front waiting for assistance many times), but if you are patient and lucky you may get one of the workers that are pleasant and helpful. To their defense, I have had many more negative customer service experiences at other locations. read more

I'm in a continuing, tolerant, unfulfilling relationship with Michael's. I tolerate all the disappointments from crappy knitting supplies and choices only to return again and again to be disappointed and promising myself never to return. Well, I've been trying to break up with Michael's for decades but keep going back because there are no knitting supply stores near my mother when I visit her. On the rare occasion I find a yarn at any Michael's that I like of decent color and quality, it's always the last 2 or 3 trampled, molested balls left in the bottom of the bin and never enough for what I need it for. I end up going to other Michael's to search for the yarn only to find the same predicament. The needle selection is woefully inadequate at Michael's; the knitting supplies skimpy and of shoddy quality. RARELY the size or type needle I need in stock. read more

We needed to buy spray paint, but it was locked up because of course you can only buy it if you're older than 18. They had a little service button you could press so an employee could come over and unlock the products. We pressed the button several times and spent maybe 7 or 8 minutes near the isle (we were looking at other products too), but no one came to unlock the spray paint. We weren't really in a rush so this wasn't a major inconvenience, but what's the point of having the button if the employees don't actually come when you press it? It would have been so much faster to just go find an employee instead of waiting. Anyway, once we did find an employee he was extremely helpful and knew the products pretty well, so I wouldn't say the service was bad, the button was just.. pointless. For the most part, this is just your typical Michael's. The items are neatly organized and very easy to find. I take beginning painting at Mt Sac so I come here time to time to restock on paint or canvases. The canvases are, of course, not as nice as one would hope for, but they're cheap and I'm taking beginning classes so it's not really a problem. For anyone taking advanced classes, it could be an issue as the canvases are not very smooth; I usually have to take some time to pick out ones that have smooth surfaces as a lot of them are ridden with ridges and bumps. I have no problems with customer service nor with anything else pertaining to this store. Everything is orderly and I can find whatever I need. Some workers are a little... groggy? though. But most of the employees are very chipper and friendly. Recently I had a pleasant run-in with Jessica. She was my cashier and she was super friendly (maybe a little too nice? I have been going to this michaels since it had opened up and customer service used to be great and consistent. Now it's a hit or miss some employees are moody and have an attitude, so I already know which to avoid cuz they won't be helpful. Others are so nice and and really try to help you find what you need or try to resolve your problem. I've gone a handful of times when I shop and the tall male manger is ALWAYS so loud and talking smack and complaining about his employees. Like I'm shopping and he's like a few aisles down and I can hear his whole conversation with another employee. I'm not even trying to listen but he's so loud and unprofessional. Like come on go to your office to discuss it. I'm just a customer trying to shop and hear the music in the background not a smack talking session. Store is pretty organized I think.
