Murder Mystery passengers. ..or are they suspects
    Vikki C.

I have attended special events at Side Quest for years. The crowd they bring in are all so kind, friendly and inclusive. The staff are fabulous and really make everyone feel welcomed and valued. The selection of games is great! They have a wide variety of miniatures and figurines. You can even paint your own figurines on special paint nights. Every Friday they stay open late for Magic Fridays. Everything I have ever bought at Side Quest was priced really well when compared with other shops. I think the owners really try to keep their prices as low as possible. The location is nice because it is near Cal Poly Pomona, dining, and a Starbucks. My family and I attended a Murder Mystery there last night. It was so incredibly fun. And all of the guests went all out on their costumes. They served a meal which was included in the price. And they had a professional Murder Mystery planner for the event! It was really well done. I can't wait for the next one.

The staff here are all personable and hospitable. They have a wild selections of sports cards, boxes and Pokémon cards. We have found ourselves spending some time here just browsing around and opening some cards. The pricing I believe is reasonable. I have purchased some singles of my favorite players. I like just browsing the NBA, WNBA, NFL, WWE and other sports just for the fun of finding something worth buying to build my personal collection. Fun spot to be if you just want to hang out and spent some time with family and friends. They also have a TV playing movies or sports. ( ^_^)b

The funny thing is there are actually closer card shops to us, but we still choose to make the drive here because the prices are consistently better. I've compared them against a couple of other local shops and even many vendors at Frank & Sons, and A&N usually comes out ahead. What really stood out during our latest visit was how fair they were with store credit. I brought in some cards from my personal collection that I was willing to part with, and they offered a value that felt reasonable and honest. That store credit quickly turned into Pokémon packs for the kids, which immediately made their day. Seeing my kids walk out of the store excited and holding their new haul reminded me why we keep coming back. Good prices, fair trade values, and a family friendly experience go a long way. We'll be back once we've worked our way through this stack of packs.

We chatted with Kyle the owner who has intimate knowledge of 80% of the games in the store, having played them at least once. My husband bought the newest version of Horrified which is a series of cooperative games in which you are vanquishing monsters and saving villagers, this one is Dungeons and Dragons themed. Meanwhile, I talked with Andrew, a game enthusiast who had just purchased a huge game box with cards and dragon figures and was learning how to play it. Tuesdays are game nights there for people looking to play board games with a group. There are several tables for that purpose, and so many games for single players, duos, and larger groups. Super fun store!

Sure, it was pretty far away (Glendale) from Riverside, but I always enjoyed the trek and good times. Fortunately, Kyle, opened the Game Nights Cafe about 1.5 years ago as of this writing (01/01/2025), and the two-level shop and gamespace provides games to purchase, an impressive library of games to play in-house, and necessary hobby materials, such as Citadel paint, brushes, tools, and even a nifty airbrush set for about $70. After two visits here I'm Reviewing the shop, setting, atmosphere, and special New Year's Eve event. First, my long-time gaming buddy happened upon the store while antique shopping across the street. While Gameology in Upland has been our go-to, the initial appeal was the later hours of operation, especially on Sundays, the day we typically line up. There's a game cover fee, a reasonable $6 per player and good for the entire day. Otherwise, as Kyle mentioned to me, people would stay all day and not even purchase anything. Purchases, however, do offset the cover charge. The basement is where the bright track lights make the full-lenghth space inviting. Many hundreds of games line one wall. All are available for anyone wanting to play. And a significant number of tables and comfortable chairs are another draw. There's also a sizeable space upstairs adjacent to the retail area for games. Kyle invited us to come back for New Year's Eve for food, beverages, and a generous playtime that surpassed 2am. For $40 I was down, especially when I saw how much food was provided. A fullscale Middle Eastern feast, as well as charcuterie, sides, and desserts. Wow! The crowd was also fun and my group quickly befriended another and we played lots of fun games that could support 6 players, including Heat, Acquire, and Inca Gold. All three were in the extensive library previously referenced. In short, they host many events for Magic the Gathering (MTG), Dungeons and Dragons, open play nights, and hopefully more NYE celebrations. Finally, they also have a lot of games and things marked down for quick sales, so consider browsing. Not far away is the Glass House, and somewhere close by is Zoink Records.

They have a really good selection of Lorcana cards and booster boxes, and the staff is always kind, patient, and helpful. Since we're still pretty new to collecting, we've asked a lot of questions, and they've been great about giving recommendations on what is worth buying and what we probably don't need to spend money on. I really appreciate that they're helpful without making you feel pressured to buy something. They also run tournaments during the week and on weekends for different card games, so it seems like a great place if you're looking for more of a community rather than just somewhere to buy cards. As someone who wasn't originally into trading cards, I did feel a little out of place at first since there usually aren't many women in the shop, but everyone has always been welcoming. Now that I'm getting into Pokémon cards myself, I actually enjoy coming here too! Parking has always been easy for us with plenty of spaces available. The shop is across from Diamond Bar High School and tucked into the corner of the plaza, so keep an eye out for it. Definitely a great local card shop, especially if you're new to the hobby and want knowledgeable people who are actually willing to help.

As soon as I walked in, I noticed it was pretty busy, but the store was bright, clean, and welcoming. There were people all around playing matches, which was really cool to see and gave the place a great atmosphere. The checkout counter was located toward the back of the store. I wanted to ask about some Final Fantasy booster packs, so I waited at the counter to speak with an employee. There was an Asian guy wearing a cap, glasses, and a purple jacket working behind the counter. I stood there for about 15-20 minutes waiting to be helped. During that time, I wasn't acknowledged once, even though he was quick to chat with people he seemed to know and assist other customers. After waiting that long without even a simple "I'll be with you in a moment," I left with a bad taste in my mouth. It was frustrating because I came in ready to make a purchase, but instead I ended up pissed off
