JPM Comics is an amazing and humble comic shop. I am a huge advocate for comic shops in this day and age, so I really enjoyed coming here. The shop is hidden away in the corner of a plaza and is not too hard to find once you spot it. There are plenty of parking spots, and the shop has a retro comic feel once you walk in. The two gentlemen within the shop were great help and were able to answer all of my questions. We talked for a bit, and they were able to put my order in for the new tmnt ronin comics coming out. You can tell the order bases on demand and specific needs so that don't have a lot on the shelves but that is more of a reason to stop by and get on the list to pull your upcoming comics. Overall, this shop has plenty of heart. It's definitely my new home base for comics and collectibles. read more

My nephew and I were out for the day over the summer and I wanted to take him to a comics store. This was the only local one, a sleepy storefront but more activity than the rest of the strip-mall, which was vacant and dead. We were there around lunchtime but it still wasn't open, even on a Wednesday (when the new comics are out), and there was a line waiting to get in. Eventually it opened so we checked it out. It's just a small store, with a reasonable amount of stuff. It's impossible to carry everything, and more stuff would make it look cluttered and unappealing, especially to casual shoppers. There weren't a lot of new books, even Marvels and DCs (do they print anything but Batman books now?), but it could have been a slow week. (I used to go to the shop to see the new stuff every single week, but since the pandemic I go infrequently, at best, and not even to keep up with new stuff. (I still read a lot of comics, it's just stuff I already have.)) I'm sure they'll order something they don't have, like most shops will do. We talked about comics and weren't hurried along. It's a pretty mellow space. I got him the SECRET WARS trade paperback, which is great for young comics fans because it's packed with superheroes. The two guys at the counter were even chatty and we talked about Spider-Man movies. So if you're a comics fan it's fine as the only game in town, and you'd probably find something as a gift for a pop-culture fan (since they also have games and Funko pops). read more

What a fun place! My husband recently got into comic books, so we found JPM comics to visit. And if any of you out there in Yelp land are Big Bang Theory show fans, it is like you are stepping into Stuart's comic book store (in my pov, the store manager even vaguely looks like him!). Nicely organized and stocked with so many options of comic books ranging for the amateur to the collector and everyone in between. Also the store manager is super knowledgeable about pretty much every comic line (it at least seemed that way to me!) and was super helpful and non-judgmental towards my definite lack of knowledge. It was all pretty fairly priced too for hobbyists like my husband. Definitely a worthwhile visit! read more

I saw good reviews, So thought it would be good place to go. Especially because it's around the corner and never knew. Walked in, Wasn't greeted but that's fine. Know what I wanted but still looked around. Went to the pay area and waited patiently to pay...Never happened. Guy just ignored me and even when a person they were talking to left. I was still ignored. I waited a bit more and Nothing. Just standing there waiting to buy a comic already in my hand. I eneded up putting it back and walked out and Still wasn't Acknowledged. Very disappointing experience. I wanted to go into the store and browse through comics. I'm still learning what I like so it helps to see different things. I'm a decade long comic reader and the local shop near me went out of business, so I was looking for a new one. I tried a few place's including JPM and after about a month it was clear they were far better than any shop around. They were also the best shop I've been to in a long time, maybe ever. They have a great, reliable pull list system. They have a flow to the store that makes sense based on what you're looking for. They have an amazing staff that really make you feel welcome and can help or point you in the right direction. I'd highly recommend JPM and it always a good day when I get to go. read more

Went here last week with my bestfriend trying to get into comic books to ease our minds. Ive been to plenty of comic book stores. When I walked in I felt like I was a kid all over again. During this covid expeirence one of the staff with curly hair gave us a handsanatizer cloth which is really nice and hes really knowledgable about his comics. Dont be shy to ask him question he knows his stuff. The atmosphere has this vibe where you go to the comic book shop right after school dismissal. I also like how they give the little adverisements of the next comic books will be release right after ypur purchase. It makes me want to pre order one of them. read more

I don't really collect comics anymore but I anytime I see a comic or collectible store I have to go in, it's the kid in me and it's nostalgic. My friend got a few comics for a good price. The guy managing the store was welcoming and real helpful to me nd my 2 year old son when we were trying to find what comics we were looking for. Keep in mind what a 2 year old can behave like inside a comic book store filled with temptation. They have tons of comics and other toys and posters to choose from. And a nice "clearance" section of random editions of various comics. The guy even recommended a smaller, more age appropriate story for my son with his favorite hero. I'm not a comic book nerd so take my review as one from someone who doesn't frequent these places. This place is tucked into the corner of the Tuesday Morning shopping center, please remember this as yelp sent us into Azusa. We came in here looking for comic books for our kids. Specifically "smurfs" comics and the like; they didn't have any. Their overall selection of comics for children is rather small. However, the store is well organized, decently merchandised, and pretty easy to navigate. read more

This is an okay spot. Nothing in particular stood out in terms of comics. Some of their comics aren't even on display. Rather, they put up a bunch of signs on top of their display case saying they have them and that you'll need to inquire, which is fine, but surely not the most effective way to attract buyer. read more

To start, I'm not super knowledgeable about comics. But my ex did run a podcast about them, and my current boyfriend has quite a big collection, so I've been around comics/comic book stores a fair amount. What I like about this place is that the staff is super friendly and helpful, and not at all snobby. I come here a lot on Wednesdays to pick up new comics for my dude, and sometimes I can't figure out what I'm supposed to get and the guy at the counter helps me out without ever being even the slightest bit condescending, which I really appreciate. Also, I've never not found what I needed. A lot of times bigger stores, like A Shop Called Quest, are out of stock on popular issues but JPM always has what I need. I also really like the way that it's organized, it makes it easy to find whatever it is you're looking for. read more

Swung by here to see what it was. Reminds me of the comic book stores I used to frequent as a kid back in Missouri (comics, Magic the Gathering, board games, etc). The owner offered to show me around the store which was kind of him since I'm not a particularly huge comic buff and had just came by to see what they had. They did carry Saga which was pretty much the only thing I recognized off hand. Saw they had a new issue out that my wife didn't have yet so I picked it up. Unfortunately when I got it home a large chunk of the pages were completely missing and you could see a fold in the pages glued to the binding that something happened to it during production. Called and they offered to replace it which went smoother than I anticipated (I don't know why but I kept envisioning scenarios where they were going to blame it on our dog, or water damage, or some other fictitious scenario to duck responsibility). The guy took a look at it and was like "Oh yeah this is definitely damage from the conveyor during print. Let me get you a new one" No hassle and left happy. Only recommendation I could make would be that they need to improve their manga section. From what I understood (maybe incorrectly) it seems like they may be trying to phase it out(?) since they were running a special on them and most of the series only had maybe a book or two. Still trying to complete a couple of mine and the only ones they had were 20 volumes ahead so that doesn't do me much good! read more

I use to get my weekly's here but after a few times of witnessing the owner belittle staff I decided I no longer wanted to give him the business. He was always nice to me, but on more than one occasion I observed the owner being extremely condescending to staff. Additionally, I went in one day and a lady (owner's wife I think) was there. Every mainstream trade I was looking for could not be located and she kept saying "I don't think that's out yet." Of course they were all released weeks before so I instead went home an ordered them online for cheaper. Speaking of cheap, don't expect to find any discounts here. Nothing is ever on sale. Always expect to pay full retail price on books you can get for a fraction of the cost online. I will say two of their employees are very nice and very informed with the comic world. If you're looking for mainstream DC and Marvel books you'll find them here for the suggested retail price. If you're looking for independents outside of the mainstream, look elsewhere. The one thing I used to wonder was, every time I would ask "Do you have this in stock?" they would reply "No, but we can order it." I would just think... "I can order it too... for way less than what you'll charge me". So I stopped going and now do all my shopping online since there are no other stores around me. read more

This Place is horrible, the owner tries to rip his customers off, If the comic becomes more than one week old he will raise the price... and Variants for Comic books he will sell them for 3x the value that they are worth. Don't waste your money here.. His staff is great and they are very helpful. and they know alot about the comic world. But the owner knows nothing about comics, hes just in the business to take advantage of peoples money, hes a scam artist. and he is very rude I once asked him if he knew what issues were out for a certain series instead of saying, " I don't know but i can check for you".. he says " I get over a 500 comic series a month, and you expect me to keep track of this?".... UNBELIEVABLE, (The Owner) Hes a grumpy old bearded man, you cant miss him. But Good News!! I now shop at the COMIC CELLAR in Duarte. they are very neat and clean, the owners are awesome and they have everything you need, If they have old issues of something they still sell them for the retail price :) they wont raise them. and Variants are super cheap. they even give you discounts for spending alot. Definitely one of the worst slum grounds I've ever been to. JPM just has that uninviting vibes as soon as you enter the door. Their shelves of comics just look dirty, the R2-D2 full of jolly ranchers looks gross, and the action figures randomly thrown around the store have dust covering them. The staff is very lazy and will tell you whatever they think will get them a sale. I bought a few Magic: The Gathering intro sets and asked if they all come with different cards. I was told that they do, but when I got them home; sure enough, all were the same. Don't bother coming here for "Free Comic Book Day" either. They charge for comics... on free comic book day. Nonsense. If you really need a Comic Book fix, hit up 4Color in Rancho. To Hell with JPM. read more

Worst customer service ever!!!! I went a couple times and will never go again!!! The place is always completely empty. I am guessing it is because they all have such charming personalities. Just asking simple question seems like an epic chore to them. If you ask em to get a back issue from the store room they really give you the "I hate my life face". This place is so bad at customer service I went on line to find another place and stumbled across a place called frank on sons in the city of industry. It is like a swap meet for collectibles. A bunch of different vendors have all kind of great stuff there. I live 2 min away from Jpm but refuse to ever go back. read more

JPM is the bomb diggity. one of the only local real comic book shops i know of. im fairly new to the comic book world but i have shopped around. ive been to a few shops and i have to say JPM is my favorite by far. besides the fact that thyere close to me, its a rad shop. i dont know what all these other people are talking about. they have exactly everything i was looking for and the staff are superb. the staff, including the owner, have been nothing but nice to me. they always have jazz playing which is real smooth. i love it. they got everything organized pretty well and gave me advice about buying comics and helping me shop and told me when the comics come out and all that jazz. PUN INTENDED. they have some variants available, trade paperbacks, and a few back issues in some boxes. they have a nice collection of all current issues that i saw and some hard covers too. the only downside is if you use a credit card you need a $10 minimum. buti can live with that. prices are what are labeled ON THE COMICS. i wouldnt be mad if a bag of chips said $1 and the store charges me $1 plus tax. thats perfectly fair. its unreasonable for someone to expect a lowered price or to barter for someones hard work they put into their product and the person supplying it to you. they charge tax but thats the price you pay for having a comic book shop. are we that alone and cheap that we need to buy everything on computers just to save money. even though youre going to pay for shipping and handling anyways! i would personally like to have an experience and have a conversation with someone instead of sitting at home waiting for my comic to come. stores provide you a service that internet cannot. you can see it in person, and actually go outside and get fresh air. we need comic book shops like JPM out in the world. they are a dying breed that need salvation. read more

This store is kinda sad. It's a bit run down and not a lot of stuff inside. Not exactly in the best location. Located in a strip mall that has seen better days. Didn't really interact with the owner/store manager. So I can't tell you how knowledgeable he is. With that said, I do appreciate and try to support mom and pop stores. Might not be back cuz we'll, I'm not the biggest comic fan or anything but if you are, this place might be worth a visit. read more

I've always been a fan of comics, and even though I'm in my mid-thirties and haven't bought a comic since I was a teenager, it's always a good feeling to know that you can find a comic book store in the area. I'll admit, I was surprised at the wealth of comics and toys at this location. I totally loved it and even though I've been here only once... I know I'll be back so I can start collecting comics again. The parking is good and it's always a joy coming in and seeing all the wonderful toys that are available. Great local spot for getting your comic fix. I really appreciate the safety measures they have put in place right now too. I was provided a sanitizing wipe when I walked in the door, and there is clear signage directing traffic throughout the shop. I was a little bummed that the big bins are covered right now but I was still satisfied with their available selection. I was able to get my hands on a new Green Lantern book and the introductory issue of DC's new Infinite Frontier line. If you're in the area please check them out. read more
