I love this place. been coming here since they where on Barranca Ave. and Alosta Ave. Always found what i was looking for. Employees made me feel like if i was family. Recently i have been bringing my little ones to to start-up there collections. We get plenty of reading marital, which beats wasting away our eyes on TV. Sooo, long time coming but here it is Pierre is awesome and knows his stuff! Was more than overjoyed I stumbled upon this place. A humble comic store with a very knowledgeable and helpful, Pierre. Went in looking for something for my older brother who is big on comics. We go back and forth buying each other surprise gifts. Thus, it was my turn and thank goodness Pierre was there. I told him what my brother was into and he showed me some amazing Batman reads: No Man's Land, Hush and some other items. I told him I'm a huge fan of Harley Quinn, a glitter came about his eyes and he disappeared in back for a sec and popped out to show me a comic in his special collection: Harley Quinn's first appearance circa 1990's? Anyway, was way cool of Pierre to show me that and his in depth customer service was more than helpful. Purchased No Man's Land book #1 and the Killing Joke for my brother and a 2 cup set of the Joker and Harley Quinn for myself. He even put all my comics in a reusable comic themed bag so I can use it everytime I come on down. Cool policy they have is if you don't totally enjoy the comic/book, you can return or exchange it. Luckily, my brother didn't have either of the books I gave him so didn't have to exchange/return. I was content with this place. Not as huge or fancy but for me, overall pleasant experience and I look forward to going back to chat more with Pierre. I've been buying my comics from JPM for years. Started because it was the closest comic book shop to me but continued because of quality customer service. Most recently I was buying the newest issue of a 6 part series every month and by the 3rd issue they would hold a copy aside for me. Mind you, I'm not that much of a regular, maybe stop by once every couple months, but I'm pretty sure everyone working there recognizes me, and even if they don't they greet me like they do. I've seen too many comic shops come and go I would hate to see the same fate for JPM. It is a rather large selection for being a store on the smaller side, carries a wide variety of DC and Marvel comics, carries dark horse , along with various other labels, even carries a small selection of manga's, action figures, t-shirts and collectables to choose from. Small little place which I appreciate because it's the only one near me. I've met three employees there: The older gentleman (the owner) is most times helpful but can seem a little bothered if you ask to many questions. The young man who works the register is super friendly and helpful. And the African-American gentleman (possibly co-owner) is probably the nicest. He's really easy to start 30-hour conversations about comics with. They keep pretty up to date with new books and series. Their collections of busts and statues and collectable figures are fun to look at. As for prices, it can add up. A couple of issues or a graphic novel is fine in one trip. But after a while you start to rethink it. I myself love comics but have stopped coming here for a while because of the dent it puts in my wallet. If you're in the Glendora area, or it's the closest shop to you, check it out. If they don't have what you need they'll gladly order it for you and you'll get it quickly. read more

This is a nice little intimate shop that has been serving the SGV for years. The shop has recently relocated east of there old spot which has benefited the parking situation. The owner is real nice and will talk shop with you and the store has an abundant selection of comics and figures. The figurine and statue prices are about average with convention prices, so don't look for any real bargains here. The shop bags and boards all books but does not offer any sort of discounts. I have been going to JPM since I can remember picking up my first comic book. It is hidden away in the Tuesday Morning parking center corner. This is a great local place to fit most of your comic needs. It is true that they stock mostly Marvel and DC prints but there are others as well. I especially like them because they have AMAZING costumer service. If I ever want something that they do not have they will just order for me! No added cost or anything. They also have a large array of back order issues if you don't mind digging! I have never once stepped foot in this store and left empty handed. I am a very happy costumer. read more

I've been going to JPM because I am too lazy to drive to Frank & Son's to pick up the latest comics. They mainly have Marvel and DC comics. If you are looking for a comic that is more than 2 weeks old, you may not be able to find it at JPM. Their selection is small and they charge retail price with tax! Absolutely friendly staff. Lots of trades and back issues. Bags and boards included purchase. Stay around and talk about comics. You'll learn something and meet some great people. Minimum $10 purchase for debit/credit cards so bring cash if you don't plan on buying much. Most of the other reviews seem to be from people who've never been in a comic book store.1) It is a large location for a comic store. 2) sales tax should not be a surprise to you if you live in the modern world. 3) Pierre, the owner of the store, is one of the nicest people I've ever met and he would not put his employees down, let alone on multiple occasions. Alright, check it out. I've been going here for about 2 years. I read a few bad reviews for this shop because of its selection. Yes, most people want either DC or Marvel comics so of course that is going to be their big hitters. Get over it. Most comics are from these people! Duh! They still carry some Image and Dark Horse comics, among a few other's. I will say they are not a big Manga shop. For that I would suggest Comic Factory in Pasadena. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Jason and Kevin are the best! All the comics have a backing and a sleeve which is awesome. (One of the reasons I stopped going to Comic Cellar unless I am desperate for something.) The place is pretty organized and has a very wide selection in trades and graphic novels. And they have a lot of action figures! Awesome action figures and old memorabilia. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. It has a huge parking lot because it shares a one with Tuesday Mornings. They do accept credit cards as long as the purchase is over 10 dollars, which is reasonable. But since I usually drop about 40 bucks a week here is neither here nor there for me haha! This place is definitely worth a shot for your trust! Totally wack crew! I went to purchase the DC Villains 3D covers that JUST hit stands today, only to find they raised the prices before they opened. WTF!? Before going to look, I told the two vultures at the front counter how the vendors at Frank and Sons were price gouging those same issues. Their response, "that's what you get for going to Frank and Sons." Pot calling the kettle black, I let it roll off my back, and shared the location of a store that was selling the books at face value with a few patrons. I hate when posers take advantage of true fans - of anything. First and Last time I'll go there! read more

Great comic book store! They are pretty small and the people who work there are very knowledgable. Don't expect a membership system like a main stream comic shop, they are way more "mom and pop" and have a very old school way of selling their comic books. Don't pull stuff that you don't plan on picking up later! read more

Great local comic book store. One stop shop for most of ones comic book needs. Not the best store I have been to but not the worst least by a long shot. Clean and organized in a easy to understand fashion and it does not have that oo to common comic book store smell. I went to JPM today looking for a new comic shop after moving. I met Pierre and what a nice man! He is willing to help you find what ever it is that your heart desires. He may not carry everything under the sun but he will special order for you anything you ask for. I was even told that he has a special list of months special orders, so it is not an uncommon thing. This store is larger than any other that I have been in. I was amazed at the quantity of selection available. I would definitely say that this is a good place to check out. read more

Great shop. If you looking for variants, they charge a bit more. But I like the wall of new releases that are bagged for you. Tons of all the new trades. I visit during lunchtime on a weekday and usually the only one. I like the place. Yes frank and sons may charge a dollar less for issues, but this place rocks. read more

Stumbled upon this place while running errands and decided to get my pulls for the week there. Mostly Marvel and DC but they stock current issues and trade paperbacks from smaller publishers. The employees may seem aloof and will rarely approach you but if you ask for help they'll go above and beyond. They're more than willing to chat about on-going stories and are respectful of spoilers. Where this shop really stands out is the sheer number of long boxes of back issues, which are mostly priced at $1 off cover price (there are also a bunch of $1 boxes and $.50 boxes). JPM is great for completionsists and serious collectors. I've spent many a Saturday afternoon crate digging for gold!! read more

By far my favorite comic book store that i have been to! I love the fact that its close to my house and work. I usually go in on Wednesdays when the new comics come out during my break. The owner Jason is awesome i always talk to him when I go in. Ive seen him help customers and myself look up info on comics which is on because there are times when he has a line but he does his best to help everyone as much as he can. First incident: For well over five years I was a regular customer at JPM. I would usually spend about $20 per week at the store. One week some of the comics I would regularly buy were sold out so I only bought $6 of merchandise. I handed Mr. JPM a $20 and he said "sorry, I don't deal with bills that large" (honestly, what merchant doesn't have change for a $20?). I didn't have a smaller bill so I handed him my debit card. Mr. JPM told me he can't accept a debit card for purchases less than $10. I asked him if he wanted to sell me the comics or not. He told me to either purchase some more merchandise or go next door to 7-11 (this was at his old location) to break my $20. I told him to forget it and walked out of the store. Second incident: One week I didn't purchase a title that I regularly bought but happened to pick up at Frank & Sons the prior week. When I went to make my purchase JPM asked why I didn't purchase that particular title. He told me that he ordered it special for me. I told him I did not know that and had not asked him to order the title. He got angry and said, "I'm tired of customers who treat my store like a library." After this I quit shopping at JPM on regular basis because of his attitude. Anymore the only time I'll go to JPM is if I can't find it at Frank & Sons or Comic Cellar in Monrovia (which is almost never). Compared to Comic Cellar JPM's selection is pretty run of the mill. Also,I really don't find Mr. JPM to be too knowledgeable about recent comics. I'm not trying to run Mr. JPM out of business but he really needs to treat his customers better. He should not assume that his regular customers will stay loyal if he continues with his supercilious attitude. read more

I started reading comics a couple years ago and this was the first brick and mortar store I went to. It's still my favorite. They carry new comics from most publishers (not just Marvel/DC), have a good selection of trades, as well as a ridiculous amount of back issues to dig through. If they don't have what you're looking for, they're more than happy to order it for you. They also bag and board everything with no extra charge. The people are friendly and accommodating - much more personable than most comic stores I've been too - and you get a real sense of community from the regular customers. I've been a regular, weekly customer to JPM for over a year now and I love it. The staff is nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Especially Kevin. The back issue selection seems alright, but I don't do a whole lot of searching in them anymore. The trade paperback selection is very good, and they keep a decent number of trades in their half off boxes, which is always nice. The thing I like best about this place, though, besides the staff, is that they do a good job of having more than just Marvel and DC books on the new release shelf. They'll actually have copies of new books from Dark Horse, Image and other small press companies available. This is especially nice for someone like me, as I will frequently buy new comics on a whim, or because I read something good about them well after the title was in Previews. And the stuff I want that isn't on the wall, they've been able to get for me. I love this shop. Seriously. read more

I had the chance to meet the owner of the shop and he took the time to educate me on what comics i should purchase for investments and what comics i can order online if i just want to read the stories. I have been going to JPM for over a year now and I love this store. The staff are wonderful to me and the prices fit my budget. The staff are knowledgable and very helpful. I love going in there. I could spend hours in this store! I still consider myself new to the comic book world, so the knowledge they share with me is much appreciated. The owner has on more then one occasion gone out of his way to help me. He has let me borrow a comic book from his personal collection, telling me to bring it back when ever I was in the area after finishing it AND he has also promised me a return on a comic that I was hesitant about picking up if I didn't like it. I really liked that comic book so there was no need to return it. I value all the suggestions I get from the staff and they certainly don't look down on me for my lack of knowledge. One of the staff members there has been so good to me, he went out of his way to get me a trade of something I was looking for, even though I didn't ask him to and he refused to let me pay him for his trouble. I love everyone here and I love their selection. I will keep going to JPM for all my comic book needs. read more
