Let's be honest, Valencia isn't known for its love of the arts. Sometimes it reminds me of when I was stuck in Stuttgart with the fascists frying up books like Wiener schnitzel. But I try to support the arts and have been supporting Michaels for years but on my last visit I had such terrible and rude service by a young woman named Ingra who was more occupied checking Facebook than answering my questions about supplies I needed. I haven't dealt with anyone so unfriendly since the nazis in east Berlin. I'm not sure who is hiring the staff here, but they need to learn a thing about customer service. Huge selection, wonderful associates, good prices. I've been a fan of Michael's for a while now, but don't go in as frequently as I would like. This store had some issues in the way of stock, but they made up for it in alternative selection. The associates at this location were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the products and the location within their store. They were ready and willing to help and even provided ideas on different ways to utilize things in their store when the requested products weren't available. read more

Horrible service. They need a manager's approval to authorise any card transaction above $100. If an item is $8.99 and we have over 20 of them, logically it would add up to above $100. The cashier should figure this out before scanning all of the items through, and ask if a credit card is required then get a manager to be on standby instead of making the customer wait. Instead we stood and waited for 10mins for the manager Sara to come and authorise the transaction for us. Urgh. read more

All I had to do was explain how my style was and he turned my ideas into a beautiful masterpiece. He tried different frames and matting combination. But in the end his idea was spectacular! A little bit of a small location, but they still carry enough things for me to get some staple decorations and sketching supplies. I lucked out with a few super cool Halloween pieces this year, and hope to keep them for a while. I've noticed that they tend to have only one or two employees when I go in, which can make a bit of a check out line even when there's not many customers in the store. I also have seen one of the managers (I think?) an older guy, be rude to some of the female employees and fellow colleagues. He had a small spat in front of customers last month when I was there, making for a bit of an awkward situation. Hopefully they can get some new management and change up the environment. read more

I love this Michael's! The store itself is pretty standard, kind of cluttered and maze-like, and full to the brim with stuff, but the customer service is amazing. An employee (I wish I could remember her name- she was a younger woman with long brown hair and glasses) helped me find a huge list of things, and even checked back with me to make sure I was able to find anything. She was super helpful, but not overbearing. The cashier was really friendly, and helped me to find a 40% off coupon on my phone, so I was able to save about $15. I purchased a $50 Diamond Dotz at the Stevenson Ranch store. This box states everything is included to complete the craft. Unfortunately one color did not have enough diamonds to complete the picture. I went to the store and notified the clerk that I needed to open another box to retrieve the needed color. She contacted a manager, explained the situation and gave me her response. They would not open a box and get the diamond color I needed. she also reported to me that this is not the first time theses boxes shortchange the needed diamonds. she suggested I go to Joanns and buy a bag of needed diamonds (requiring I spend more money). This is unacceptable! I now have a picture I cannot frame and hang in my room and, therefore, wasted 50 bucks. Do Not Buy Any Diamond Dotz here since this is a common occurrence and you will receive zero help to rectify the situation. Substandard customer service!!! read more

This store has come along way in the last few years. It's cleaner, more organized, and they rearranged the checkout area to be faster and more efficient. I also like what they've done with the framing area as well. I used to shop here all the time on the east coast but once I moved I didn't like coming because it was always a mess and the customer service was bad. As a crafter, I am a huge Michael's fan. They carry items for painting, drawing, sculpting, woodwork, framing, mission projects, decorating, holidays, fake flowers, and more. Little kids and adults alike can find something fun to purchase here to occupy a day. My dad used to take me here every other weekend to pick out something fun to do! They also offer classes on several of the crafts they sell, though I've never attended one. Pricing is pretty decent here and every employee I've run into has always bee friendly. The line for the register was different this time I came in though. It was all one big line at the end, far from the open registers, each customer going up to the next free cashier. Seemed a tad inefficient as it was difficult to hear and see who was calling out. read more

Overall my experience with the staff here shows a great value of how customer service should be! The cashier Marabel was helpful in helping me get my coupons off my phone and went above and beyond! Dropped over $200 today while taking a crimping class with my mother and grandmother. Trisha, the instructor was amazing and very easy. Kristi, was also a great help whenever we called or asked about classes. Unfortunately the manager Eddie, was a total unprofessional, abrasive and rude jackass. We were waiting in line when he came over half shouting that we needed to go to the other side of the store where there was a small, barely able to be seen sign as if we were idiots. After we checked out he then approached us saying he was 'sorry you don't understand'. Are you effing kidding me? You yell at your customers that drop no amount of small cash on your over priced commercial store, then you make a point to confront them again to make them feel stupid?! We took no issues in calling out how it was, but what a douche! No idea how to treat people then tried to defend why it was okay to be a complete asshole. Ill not come here again if that's how this 'new management' acts. read more

This place always seems to have stuff I'm looking for. The problem is the lack of employees in the registers when there are over ten customers in line. I went to the store today, and I was able to find the things I needed without a problem. When I got in line, I noticed that there were probably 7 people ahead of me, and then a lot more people lined up behind me. There were only two registers open. I'm not sure if they lack employees or it's just that the other employees are too busy, but you'd think that a store that big with plenty of customers would have more employees around. If you are in a rush, it would not be wise to shop here as for the lines can get long quickly and take awhile to move with very few employees working the registers. read more

Just a heads up... buyer beware: I bought a tank from Michaels and it was completely empty. We didn't know until the morning of my child's event. The box was manufactured sealed and didn't appeared to be a return. When I brought it back to the store the cashier confirmed that it must be a manufacturer failure because she has received a ton of returns; the liar manager said that it was their first return. When I went to the display all the tanks weighed about the same when I lifted them. Most of them were indeed empty. It's always crappy when a managers will lie in your face. After going to many frame shops in Santa Clarita which was especially difficult with Covid going on, we went to Michaels. We had a beautiful print that needed framing and were quoted outrageous prices, the frames were at least 5 times the price of the picture. Lucky for us, we came to the Stevenson Ranch store and were assisted by Michael. This guy is absolutely amazing, what a special person, who honestly knows his work and is very caring. We also got a very special discount through their discounts. We brought our picture home today, framed and hung it up. It looks absolutely perfect. The color that he helped us pick out and the border works great!! I highly suggest that if you need something framed, you reach out to Michael. I keep coming to this Michaels because it is the closest one to me but idk why, they never have anything I need, their shelves are always half empty and their customer service is terrible not to mention the lines. I came in today for an item and I ask an employee which btw I had to call her like 5 times and I was right behind her because she wouldn't acknowledge me. Finally when she does I ask her and she points to the back of he tore and goes it should be there. Not an aisle, not "next to this", not "on the left or right side". This store has it's ups and downs. Sometimes I find just want I need and other times they do not carry a product that it seems llike they should. Often, since their business is season based, one will find the store in the process of moving inventory around creating a mess in the process. It is hard to move around the store when this is happening. There is no flexability in coupon redemption. You have it on you and you get the discount. Left it at home? No discount. The cake classes I took there were fun and informative. The only problem there was the room is used for multiple activities. I never felt the cake was clean enough to eat after working on it in this room. (Brown paper was spread over the tables prior to us attending.) Often the class was too crowded to really work. Michaels store #9701 Bad costumer service, I was there today to buy my natural beads price is $5.99 I compare the price from Joann on sale for $3.99 so I asked cashier Chloe if I can buy it at the Joann same sale price since its a quite drive from the other side of town then she asked the store manager Caridad if I can do it she told me if I had a photo of it so looked at the website all natural stone beads are on sale for $3.99 I provided it for her to see it proven that it was on sale I even told them to try to call them so I dont have to drive all the way there but Caridad said its not the same so she refused to do it for me. As a store manager she rather lose a loyal regular costumer like me who always buys $100 worth of beads. This is why a lot of business are closing because whoever manage it dont know how to run good business or know how to count for good costumer service. I am trying to contact Michaels Corporate office and complaign about this issue. My husband said to me who drove to get to that store told me never come back there again since they discriminates me because I'm Asian seems like it since they dont like me there. I went online and ordered 2 skeins of yarn for same day pick up. I ordered it at 1:45 pm and the website indicated if you order by 3:00 pm that day you will get same day pick up. I called at 4:30 and store employee said there are only 2 people working and they received a 100 orders and doesn't know when it will be ready. I drove over there at 5:45 because they close at 6:00 and the same employee said it won't be ready today we have only 3 employees and 200 online orders! So which is it 100 or 200 orders, 2 employees or 3. I know things are hard right now, but don't promise same day pickup if you can't deliver! I'm pissed off!!!!! read more

Standard Michaels in a large retail center with ample parking...huge store, lot's of crafty stuff, some helpful employees, some not so much.

In the years that I have been visiting Michael's their selection of bead and jewelry supplies have expanded exponentially. I am pleased to say that I can get most of my jewelry work shopping here. I feel lucky to have so many options right at my fingertips. The only place in the store that I don't spend a lot of time are the floral and framing department. The discount section right up front has some great finds for a $1. It's a must. I also enjoy the paper work section of the store. The stamps are expensive, so don't get crazy. But it's so much fun!! I feel proud of myself when I make it out of the store in under an hour and even more proud when I can leave without having spent $50!! read more

Now this place is unusual in that it's never really crowded but the check out is slower than the Michael's in Burbank which is usually crowded but the lines move fast. They usually have better merchandised isles and shelves which makes finding products and prices quickly. People are nice and there is always plenty of parking which for me is a big plus when visiting with kids. read more

My wife and I went to look at artificial Christmas trees (that had been advertised in the prior Sunday circular) at the Michael's craft store in Stevenson Ranch. The larger trees we were looking at had pouches with cards that were to be taken to the checkstand for payment. After looking at and comparing the trees displayed, we took a card from one of the trees to the checkstand, and the girl (sorry, I didn't get her name... it was about 7:30 Saturday evening, so her boss will most likely know who it was at the southernmost checkstand) simply looked at the card and told us that item was not available. We asked if rain checks were being issued, she said no. I asked why they didn't take the cards out of the pouch, or put a card in the pouch that stated that the item was not available so customers like my wife and I would not spend 20 minutes comparing trees... she said it was because they were getting more in. Wait... they knew they were getting more in, but they would not issue a rain check? When I asked the associate this question, she pretty much blew of off with a "nope... whatever... next!" Very disappointed in customer experience... sorry, Michael's... FAIL. read more

I hate writing this about the only Michaels I know of in the SCV but it's so so bad there! I am used to shopping at the one on Chats and zelzah in the valley. Trained employees, clean store, well organized. I first visited this michaels in early december. It was a MESS. Half the shelves were bare, things all over the floor, all the paints out of order and thrown onto the shelves. We asked for help finding something and the employee said they didn't have it. You could tell they were just unfamiliar with the item and didn't want to bother asking another employee. I chalked it up to the christmas rush. I went there again yesterday. Same story. This place always looks like they just had a blow out black friday sale. I went in for acrylic paint in antique white and sand paper. The isle was blocked by a shopping cart full of broken items and trash. I moved it to look at the paints and an employee said "EXCUSE ME" put the cart back and blocked the paints. Ok...the paints looked like a small bomb had gone off. Blue where pink was listed, knocked over, leaking. A lady buzzed for help at the spray paint cage and about 10 minutes later someone showed up. She was asking questions and getting "um, i'm not sure" to everything. Since the employee was there I asked where antique white was "ummmmm. We don't carry that color" Yes, yes you do...I was RE-STOCKING since I had run out from my last bottle I bought at Michaels. It's friggen antique white not poodleskirt fushia. So I was left to dig. I needed two large bottles. Ended up with a ton of tiny ones. I then asked her where I could find the sand paper "We don't carry that". Are you kidding? I thought about dropping everything and going to beverlys (Which, by the way, is an awesome smaller mom and pop michaels in Canyon Country. Look it up). I didn't want to drive that far so took my place in line behind about 8 people. When It was my turn another customer was there asking to see a manager. Who shows up? The same employee that "helped" me and the spray paint girl. Now it all makes sense. Horrible management there. I hope corporate gets involved and cleans up this store because I would hate to see it go...but honestly...with this michaels...even if it's something you buy there all the time call first so you don't waste a trip. I needed to pick up some art supplies, and I was so frustrated that I left the store and just ordered my stuff online because the staff was so lost, they didn't know where anything was. Then half of them didn't know what it was I was trying to purchase. I was like really? I can't really blame the staff, because they don't seem unintelligent and yes they where very nice, but it seems there is a disconnect with the products and their locations. The selection is very good and the shelves are well organized, and I won't fault them for the decline of true do-it-yourself crafts (most of the stuff there is mostly finished and just needs paint or coloring... does anyone actually MAKE things themselves anymore?). However, the store almost always seems understaffed. Employees will answer your question if they can do so quickly, but they are usually on their way to do something for another customer already, and it might be a while before you see them again. The lines are a similar situation, almost always very long. The time to get through the line isn't as horrible as it looks visually, but it is a longer wait than it should be. read more

I always dread coming here. I get so claustrophobic. THe aisles are so narrow and since there's so much stuff, everywhere, it feels even smaller. THe staff never knows if they have an item, or where the items are. So I end up wandering around aimlessly for 30 minutes on my own and leaving with some other stuff I didn't need. Everything is expensive, so the only time I go is if I have those stupid coupons. read more

Easily one of my favorite stores in Santa Clarita. I love everything in here, especially the bakery section. They have a few aisles full of bunch of great supplies for making and decorating cakes and cupcakes. I also love the framing section; I've bought a bunch of poster frames from here at relatively good prices. I am huge pen and marker freak, so I love the art supply section and tend to splurge on occasion. I love coming in here and just finding random new stuff that surprises me every time. read more
