I haven't been into this location in awhile, met one of my friends here to grab some drinks at the cafe and yap, while shopping around for a new book! Lots of options to choose from in the store, as well as some music albums and goodies. We stopped in the Starbucks cafe inside to grab a drink. They don't take the Starbucks gift cards here so it's cash or credit only, figured I'd ask though. I grabbed a chai with almond milk, tasted like more milk than my actual tea tho so wasn't too impressed. **UPDATE: I decided to come back in and try this cafe again, all for that $5 book with a drink purchase. It's called "pumpkin spice and everything nice" by Katie Cicatelli-Kuc. It looks like a cute fall read and to keep in the spirit I grabbed one of the fall drinks a pumpkin chai with almond milk and the pumpkin cold foam on top (btw it's dairy). This time my drink actually tasted like tea and not straight milk like last time. Maybe it was an off morning the time before. I enjoy any Barnes & Noble and this branch is one I've been to a couple of times! You can get inspired creatively walking around in here and can also discover some great finds with books and movies. Free rewards program to sign up for with some sales and discounts sometimes throughout the year! The cafe area has a pretty good quantity of tables and chairs, and seems to be a great and cozy space for studying and getting some work done. Just be aware of potentially loud children in the cafe space since there is a large kid's area in the store and some families grab Starbucks coffee at the counter. So I was there right when they opened, and I had got a Aron's putty, and when I checked out the guy had switched my putty with another one, when I opened it I barely had gotten a ball of putty . Very disappointing. Not much putty's either but there was a good amount.. of duplicates. not the best selection for putty's or slime in general. Same price nothing wrong with that. read more

Been to this Barnes location only a handful of times but during our recent visit, found a huge section of Harry Potter merch! It was honestly a dream come true lol. I love coming across new merch that you don't see often! Parking lot is huge and there's a Firehouse Subs next door which has great sandwiches! To my surprise, they even had Hogwarts Legacy merch and everything was priced so well! If you're a rewards member, you get discounts and even rewards for even more discounts! Went in for a stroll today just to see what books there are and ended up leaving with 3 books! I like this SCV barnes and noble as it's clean, and well organized. I also love their little customer service area where if you have questions about books, recommendations, or where books are located - you can go and ask and the staff will happily check on the computer and tell you where specific books are located. They have quite a variety of books, they even have a game section, music section, and a Starbucks inside. It's quite a peaceful place to be. Staff are always helpful and everything is well maintained and organized. I love that their staff also recommends their book pick of the month observing from what genre of books you've bought and recommends stuff. I love that they do that because I am open to reading other interesting stories I haven't heard of yet. Their monthly book picks are also incredible! read more

Tonight was my last visit to this location. I spend a fair amount of money here during every visit. In these trying economic times, that means anywhere from $50 to $150. Keep in mind that this adds up quickly! At any rate, the reason I gave this location 1 s tar is because I sense, to say the least, too much dishonesty in terms of bags. Every time I go here, they always say they are out of bags. Tonight, I purchased a STACK of books and had to manage carrying them out without dropping them all over the place. As usual, I asked for a bag, and even though my bill tonight was $155.81, I STILL got the deceitful obligatory "We ran out of bags" again. They say this ALL the time! How ironic that I get the SAME response every time. I wonder when management will just stop telling staff to lie to customoers and just tell the truth. If you no longer furnish bags, then say it, but please STOP lying to me! You NEVER have bags, regardless of what time of day I buy books there. My wife and I stopped by this Barnes and Noble today because she wanted to look for a book. We found parking easily here but just be aware that they have a sign that said 2 hours parking in the lot. This store is pretty spacious and organized. If you have time, I would suggest walking around the store to get familiar on where certain book will be. When you walk inside, the kids books, toys, magazines and entertainment games will be on the right. The cafe or Starbucks is straight ahead and the books will be on the left side of the store. They even have another room for music and media where they'll have DVD, vinyl and music CDs. I looked at their technology books, legos selection, the kids storytime area and also visited the music and media room. They don't have a lot of cashier so just be understanding. read more

The first thing I want to say is, I am so grateful that Santa Clarita has a bookstore! We used to have three. Now, all that is left is Barnes and Noble, and we are lucky it is a very good one. This is a big, beautiful store with easy and safe parking. It has every kind of book, accessory, stationery, and other accoutrements that a great bookstore should have and so few can manage. There are departments for everything like games, notecards, calendars, etc. There is a Starbucks there, right in the middle of the store. And, best of all, perhaps, they have a huge children's department filled with toys and books -- everything a child could want, to rival the fabulous one on the second floor of Vroman's in Pasadena. We go to this store for all these things, just a few miles from our house. I could walk there. How many neighborhoods in Los Angeles can boast a gem like this? People who complain about service in this or any other store and restaurant at this juncture, have to remember the extreme stress venues are experiencing due to the pandemic. Also, can you imagine how difficult it is to keep afloat when competing with Amazon? C'mon, folks. Stop griping and start expressing gratitude. I have never had any problem with the customer service there. Everyone has been polite and knowledgeable. There is a membership for discounts on all merchandise. The store is clean and there is always pleasant music playing in the background. They have storytelling hours, and local readings, book signings and lectures. There is not one thing to complain about at this Barnes and Noble, and I want to thank this particular chain for keeping a bastion of intellect alive in what is pretty much a backwater burb otherwise. read more

This location is okay, I've always gone to the stores in the valley. Northridge rest in peace and studio city. I happen to be in this part of town today and let me just say. Location is pretty and employees are nice. However, Starbucks employees especially a girl today with some bright pants and straight face was rude. I have Cold urticaria which means cold drinks or ice causes me to itch and swell. I asked for venti size and she told me I'm not filling it up to the top and Pointed to basically half the the cup of a venti. Which in that case should she just charge me for a grande?? We called and asked to get it taken off the bill, oh no we can only make sure your canceled untill 2024 ! I do not appreciate that the Valencia store only gets three copies of the New York Times on Sunday and that the manager allows a customer who is not present to pre reserve a copy. HIRE NEW CAFE EMPLOYEES!!! The cafe employees at this location are some of the rudest workers I have ever come across. I have been coming to this Barnes & Noble cafe for two years now, and every time, I have noticed the cafe's rude and unprofessional workers. I have brushed it off for a very long time, but they have consistently shown terrible attitude to all of their customers, acting like they would be anywhere but their job. I understand that all of the cafe employees are relatively young, but even I have bad days at work and I NEVER take it out on the customers, despite me being 17. I have heard these employees openly talk bad about customers, sigh in front of guests, and even YELL at a man because he did not pick up his drink at the bar even though it was only there for 2 minutes. In one instance a few months ago, an old man wanted to order a sandwich that had to be heat up, but the worker refused to serve it to him because they had already cleaned the toaster oven. Keep in mind this was FORTY MINUTES before the cafe was closing. It is completely irresponsible and unprofessional to refuse service just because they decided to start cleaning/closing early, most likely to go home quicker. This poor man was hungry and said he would take ANYTHING, but the worker continued to refuse service because they did not want to re-clean the oven. I cannot point out a specific worker here because ALL of the employees at this location are all the same -- rude, unprofessional, lazy, and DISRESPECTFUL!! read more

This is one of the last few locations of Barnes and Noble bookstores left in Southern California. Some of the locations along with competitors, have closed down due to the decline in book sales. I hope Barnes and Noble never goes out of business because I love paper books. This location has a Starbucks inside the store where you can sit down and read or study while have a cup of your favorite drink.
