I wanted to buy some material and rang the bell twice but no one came to help. So I walked up front and asked if it was a serve yourself and she said no but would be with me in just a second. She was with another customer so I understood. I waited another 15 minutes and still no help. I qent back up and she had forgotten all about me. I could tell. At this point I asked for a manager. I waited another 10 minutes and still nothing. Must be a great place to work because you can collect a paycheck and do absolutely nothing. Go down the street and shop at hobby lobby. They have so much better help. I waited for a total of 30 minutes before making this post trying to give them every chance. Don't shop here unless you have time to kill. read more

Michael's has gone completely self service. Manager is very rude and hung up on me when I called to inquire about classes, which they no longer have. Only three employees for the whole store and on is brand new and knows nothing. Hobby Lobby is my new go to store. I may not like their politics but their service is great as are the numerous employees, who are very nice and helpful. read more

Michaels is my go-to craft store! I typically find everything I need and they always have coupons and discounts! However, the staff is unbelievably terrible. Every time I go in, they're unhelpful and always on their phones. They don't greet me, they don't offer help, and when I have questions they don't seem to know the answers. I go in enough so I don't really need all that much from them, but I definitely feel like the customer service aspect is lacking. Today, I called to inquire about custom framing because I have several pictures and posters that I am trying to get framed. When the woman answered she had no clue what I was referring to. I asked about pricing and the process and she had no idea and then just said to come in and proceeded to hang up. She didn't ask me my dimensions, offer to give me a quote, tell me about the framing materials/options, etc... I was hoping to get more information but wasn't able to. By far the worst Michael's I have ever shopped at. The lady working the self check-out was genuinely one of the rudest employees I have ever interacted with. She didn't even have on a name-tag, but she had oval glasses with a ponytail and was working the registers at 1:25 pm the date of this review (in case the store owner is reading this and would like to take action on her behavior). I had a return to make, and she acted like it was the greatest inconvenience to ever befall her to have to do something other than standing in a corner and telling people which self-check out to use. I hadn't remembered which phone number I had used to purchase the items, so I started with the most likely one and told her that there were two others I could try if it didn't work. Apparently, this was beyond her pay grade as her eyes widened in shocked and she replied with "Wow. Two?" and sighed in exasperation. I get it, numbers are hard. After making my way through the phone numbers, the last one finally went through, but there was no receipt associated with it. I then requested the gift card option. As I went to open my wallet to store the gift card, lo and behold, I found the receipt. I would much prefer the $30 to be sent back to my checkings rather than ever having to step foot in this store again, I apologized and requested to have the money put back onto my card. No response whatsoever from the cashier except for a heavy sigh. As I finally finished my interaction, I told the cashier thank you and was met with silence. Needless to say, I have no intentions of ever visiting this store ever again. read more

I'd been looking for some piping tips and cake and candy molds to add to my kitchen collection, and my American mom and I were actually celebrating the milestone of her moving into a new home. I actually went there because Connections Northwest, the company who finds providers for those who want to go out into the community, had given me a $26.00 gift certificate as part of their "Sunshine Award". My experience with Michelle and Misty today at this store location left me with one of the best customer service interactions ever. Earlier this month I bought a 12x18 frame for a concert poster that's been on my wall unframed since 2014. Unfortunately the frame that I'd bought, broke the minute I got home. Last Saturday 12/1/18 I returned to the store location to exchange the frame for a new one. Unfortunately the store was completely sold out. Michelle and Misty stepped in at this point and went way above and beyond my expectations. They offered me a new frame at a higher value because the store could not provide the same original frame. This matters, because money matters; and because I know that they did not HAVE to do this for me. It is because they understood my situation and they stepped in like true professionals. This experience and interaction left such an impact on me. I am still truly excited, relieved, validated and grateful!. read more

It's always a toss up if I'll find something I need in here or walk out empty handed. Yesterday I had an ad for yarn on sale, which I found some really good stuff. Plus a coupon for 40% off a regular priced item. So my husband got a Star Wars shirt really cheap. I don't buy much from the store, typically stick to yarn. So my knowledge of the store isn't spectacular. The selection doesn't seem that great for how big the store is. The staff is kind of in the middle on being good or bad. There were two employees working last night. A male and female. The guy almost ran into me with two rolling trash cans, acted like I was in his way as he was sweeping, and never asked if I needed any help. The female was the cashier and she was super nice and helpful. She talked to me about the coupons and sales because I had asked if I could use my coupon on sale items, or if they were excluded. That's where my husband ended up with his shirt because it was full price. She was very patient while he went back to find what he wanted, and wasn't rude when other people got in line behind us. I appreciate how patient and knowledgable she was. It's a store I go to fairly often, mostly for sales and to see if they've got different colors of yarn I want in stock, or stock up during sales. Obviously, I'll keep returning. It's not a bad store by any near means. It can just be over priced and not have what you're looking for. Always a gamble. read more

We went to Michaels today to buy a picture frame. They were all displayed as buy one get one. BUT WE ONLY NEEDED ONE! The store was empty and the only employees we saw were three congregated near the checkouts. I asked that, since I only needed one frame, could I then buy it half off (I should note that most things at Michaels are overpriced since everything is on some kind of discount at different times). I was told no, that this is the only way to buy frames today and that there were no available coupons. And that these are the lowest prices of the season. Our previous experience had been that price adjustments could be made. Needless to say, we walked out of the store without making a purchase. it would seem to me that making sales and keeping customers satisfied would be paramount, especially considering local competition for the consumer's dollars. The attitude of the employees of that's they way it is reflected poorly on the corporate image. I should note that local competition includes Target, Lobby Hobby, Walmart, Marshalls and Kohls. This used to be my favorite store- I've been a Michaels customer for over 10 years. Sadly, they've installed self-checkout stands and left just one cashier. The Rewards card, vouchers and coupons rarely work at the self checkouts without multiple attempts. An employee showed me a few hacks today as I checked out, but even she struggled to get it to work. VERY pleased with this custom-made shadow box that the team at Michaels / Aaron Brothers Framing made. This is a precious Niihau shell lei that I recently inherited from my auntie in Hawaii. They made it so the door can open, so that I can wear the lei on occasion. They loved the challenge of coming up with idea how to do (since shadow boxes are normally closed/sealed & item inside are secured permanently). GREAT JOB!! read more

Took a picture in to be heat pressed on to white mat board. When I picked it up it was already "packaged" between cardboard sheets taped together to protect the picture, so I didn't review the work in the store, trusting it was fine. Got it home, took it out of the "package" and saw an ill cut corner. I'm thinking either the worker hid the flaw between the cardboard sheets and presented the package as a good service with a smile. In order to just by ONE frame at 50% off (rather than 2 frames for half off) I had to order online and use Curb Side Pickup. No problem, just the way I needed to do it to only get ONE frame that I needed. However, got to the Michael's on Gateway and there's not any sign for Curb Side Pickup. Parked and walked in. Still no signs directing me for Curb Side Pickup. Waited in line for cashier for a few minutes. Once there, she directed me to the Custom Framing table. Waited on the Red Dot and in a few minutes someone behind the counter noticed me. Told me I should step up and push the Ring Button. Sorry, I'm not using my hands to Ring a Bell during Covid-19. Anyway, once acknowledged, I got my online order handed to me and all was better. Hopefully I'll never have to do this again. read more

For all of you DIY people out there, this is the place that you want to come AND if you get their coupons online then you don't have to spend a ton of money to get a project done. This time around I got decorations for cupcakes and fishing line for a Photo Booth background idea that I had. I found everything that I was looking for and then some. Right now all their Christmas decorations are out and there is so much to choose from. Christmas time makes me happy! The staff is very friendly and helpful if you're like me and was a little lost in this store, simply because it's so much bigger than the one that I am used to. I appreciate the size though. This is your standard Michael's craft store where you go inside to grab one thing and come out with a cart full of out of season decorations that were 70% off. You can find art supplies, party supplies, craft supplies, picture frames and decorations here but don't expect to find great customer service. The miserable looking employees will make you feel like an idiot when you ask where something is and if they don't know if they have what you are looking for they will just stare at you and say, "I dunno." I really can't stand when people are rude at a place that they chose to work at. No one told you to work here so could you at least nicely direct me to the balloons? This Michael's is close to the freeway and easy to access in a large shopping center. They do have great sales here during the holidays and sometime you can get online coupons. If you ever need a helium tank they have small ones here too for not too expensive! read more

Three and a half stars for good product selection, mediocre quality and value. Although Michael's has seemingly every crafty thing you could imagine under one huge roof, I routinely cannot find what I need -- either because they don't carry it or I just can't find it. And Michael's is one of "those stores" that has regular prices that are artificially high, so you might find the right thing, but if it's not on sale and you don't have a coupon, the price is simply too high. I often leave here empty handed for one of the above reasons. Two stars for service. It's always been bad. The store is understaffed so check-out lines are super long. If you can't find what you're looking for, just go home (or go to Walmart) because you won't be able to find anyone to help you. Somehow, most of the people who work here manage to be nice despite the working conditions. Kudos to them. If you're here and don't have a coupon for regular-priced items, download the Michael's or Retail Me Not app to find a 40% or 50% off coupon on your smartphone. read more
