We have always been helped with our various projects over the past 40 years From rewriting a lamp, finding the right tool to fixing up a scratched door Robin has helped us a few times and he goes above and beyond to listen to our project and help us find a solution read more

Love having a local hardware store in south Eugene. The people are always helpful and I appreciate that they still sell screw, nuts, bolts, and washers from bins. Their selections is quite good as well. So why the three stars? The restrooms are really quite poorly maintained. The outside of the store is completely covered in spider webs. Just kind of gross. A bit of attention to detail goes a long way. read more

Fifty years ago I was new to Eugene and struggling to make ends meet. I had a couple of repairs to do and showed up at Eugene hardware. Turned out I would need a hammer for the job and I couldn't afford one. I bought the rest of the things I needed and they loaned me the hammer. I still come here because you can't beat 50 years of kindness and excellent service. read more

This store is the best. The employees know what they are talking about, are willing to take the time to be helpful, and the stock is comprehensive. I particularly like their selection of nuts and bolts, sold by the piece not by the box, so you can buy only what you need. They have helped me troubleshoot a problem more than once. read more

I stopped in here today to buy a couple of things for a shelf that I'm building. The employees were very helpful in showing me where I needed to go and helped me make sure that I got the right things. The cashier was friendly and chatted with me during checkout. They have everything that you could need for home projects at decent prices. The store was about as clean as you'd expect for a local hardware store. It was just nice and satisfying walking through a well-stocked hardware store. The parking lot is a good size but it can be tough to get out of when the streets are busy. read more

The help acted like they didn't want to be there. Rude, not helpful at all, gave us the wrong location for product. A sale item box which, we came in for, included green, white and brown gutter diverters had a sale sign on it, priced at $7.99. At checkout we were told only the white and brown were on sale. Front desk did not welcome us to the store, seemed put out we didn't know layout of the store. We received a curt answer from the downstairs checkout desk. Employee walked right by us as we were looking for product. Jerry's here I come. read more

If at all possible for any hardware or cleaning stuff of seasonal items (canning supplies, de-ice, lawn sprinklers, etc.) This is my go-to! I don't buy lumber or steel from them, but that is not their focus. Having a local hardware store with lots of stock, friendly and knowledgable employees, that has fair prices is a unicorn and I, for one, will keep showing up for them instead of always running to a BigBox store. read more

I absolutely love old-school hardware stores like this place. This is one stop shopping for almost anything your household might need from whimsical kitchen gadgets to a selection of by the pound hardware & plywood served up in the basement. Most importantly they have a gift wrap center! You can have your very practical presents wrapped in a wonderful assortment of paper with bows for a very reasonable price. Or you can just buy your own wrapping paper along with your weatherstripping, Birdseed and all the painting supplies in the world. read more

The employees here are quite rude. A man came out of the store to tell at me for being in his parking lot, after I had shopped there and left and gone to a store right next door. When he saw me getting back in my car he came out to chase me down and tell at me for being in his parking lot. I was only in the lot for less than 20 minutes and, again, had been at his store earlier. read more

They were very nice the whole time until the guy with "25 years experience" said awful comments after I have every right to be upset. He needs to work on his customer service. The "head keymaster" was the only one that was able to make my key and it worked after the third try. And let your customers know vital information like if "the key can only be made at a different hardware store" and "only key made from original". After the third time being there I didn't get my money back which is literally $4.00. That would have been better customer service. Don't get your keys here. They aren't friendly to women and POC as I see in the reviews. Makes me not want to buy other products because they won't work after I get home. (Reasons why key machines exist because humans can make key copies right). Just go to Costco key machine. read more

The owner kicked me out of his store for refusing to surrender my personal property (backpack and gym bag) while shopping. He made contact with me on four occasions but on the fourth decided I needed to surrender my property or "get out of my store". Be warned that if you carry a bag, you may be followed and asked to leave after significant time spent shopping, despite holding items for purchase in hand. Do not shop here with valuables you are unwilling to leave unattended or unsupervised by your person. Do not shop here with a bag if you do not want to waste your afternoon. Good selection. Items are slightly overpriced (for some things), likely due to a lack of competition in the local (2-mile) area. Amazon and Lowes have comparable prices and larger selections. If you're willing to drive a bit further, Jerry's is a better overall place to shop in my opinion. read more

Doug is a god send. So helpful and so sweet. Thank you! Really appreciate his service and kindness

As someone living on the south side, I'm stoked to have such a great hardware store in the neighborhood. It's so much nicer than having to drive way out to the super-stores. It might look small from the outside, but there's a whole second story underneath. I've bought all kinds of stuff here, outdoor faucets, leaf-blowers, potting soil, and more. There's a big section of fancy kitchen goods and housewares as well. The prices are comparable to what you'd pay at a bigger store, sometimes a tiny bit more, but always reasonable. As others have noticed, the people who work here are great and very helpful & knowledgeable. If the parking up front looks too tight, don't worry because there's a nice big lot in the back. Also within a stones throw away is Barry's Deli & Long's Meat Market. Might as well get a little snack while you're in the area... read more

I went to True Value three days ago. I needed a key to be made. There was a guy cutting a key for an older woman. My son and I were waiting for them to be done with their conversation. The guy turned around and looked at me and did not acknowledge me. I waited for ten minutes. I am a POC, I went to the person who normally helps me up front. She blew it off, and I was so disappointed. True Value have your employees be trained to treat all customers equally. read more

Buy your hardware and tools here. This is a great local store, very convenient, good parking in front and back, reasonable prices, very good service, and they have way more stuff than you'd imagine. if you live on the South side of town this should always be your first stop for hardware, tools, housewares and more. read more

Eugene True Value Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Eugene, Oregon

I LOVE this store and have been going there since the 70s. Much to my surprise a visit in early May put me face to face with two middle-aged male employees not wearing masks. I was wearing a mask. I asked why they weren't wearing a mask. "We don't have to!" Well, I'm very sad to say I don't have to go to your store, either. If you do not care about protecting my 71-year old self I can shop where the store values do care. read more

I won't be visiting Lowe's or Home Depot any more if I can help it. I find myself in Eugene often to visit my daughter at UO. There's always one trip a year that involves moving her into a dorm or apartment. I wish I'd discovered Eugene True Value 2 years ago for freshman move in. It was so much easier this year at True Value. There's always someone who can help. They can find what you're looking for and have tips on how to complete the job successfully. No more trying to hunt down people at the big box stores that don't know where anything is and have no ideas on how to complete the project. Thanks True Value for the help. read more

I was browsing some products when one worker in effect pushed me out of the way to find something for someone he was helping. He knew what he was doing and offerred no apology or excuse me, just bully rudeness. He felt entitled because he was management/owner perhaps. Turned me right off. Middle-aged guy. I brought a product to the cashier who said "How much is it?" That struck me weird as it's her business to know or find the price. I said I don't know. She said, "You don't expect me to know the prices of screws." She didn't find out. For her, it was up to me to go back and find the price. I should have known. She showed an equal rudeness as the first guy. Middle-aged woman. Watch out. Now I go to Lowe's for my hardware business. There was one guy, though, who was very helpful and courteous. read more

Sometimes that Amazon Prime shipment just can't get to you soon enough. Luckily, it's during those moments that you have an excellent resource in the True Value off of Willamette Street. A staple of old-town Eugene, you'd be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable or friendly staff around. Seriously. The cheerful women and men working those countertops know their products and services like no other. They've guided me out of being stumped on many home improvement projects. Sure, the prices aren't the absolute lowest, but when you combine the excellent service and wide variety of tools & goods it more than justifies the extra buck or two. read more

I went there yesterday and at two employees greeted me and were very courteous. Even the cashier was super nice.

I love my local hardware stop! I'm ashamed to admit that I was scared to shop here for way too long. I dunno, the whole "Southtowne Shoppes" scared me off, and I thought things would be ridiculously overpriced. Boy was I wrong. I've recently made this True Value (along with Bi-Mart) my go-to spot for canning supplies. Additionally, on a recent trip, I picked up a 100% BPA-free, to-go iced coffee cup as a holiday gift for my best friend. Whether it's kitchen items, paint, batteries, or renting a Rug-Doctor, we've made this True Value our very own. read more

There is for adult men in the hardware section that are mindless and shouldn't have jobs there, I came in for simple brass nuts and bolts to connect my dryer Power cord at that point all three of them told me it wasn't that easy and I explain to them I already had the power cord I just needed the fasteners at that point one of the guys took me to the fasteners and showed me self setting screws the kind for going into 10 I then said thank you and found my own brass nuts and screws at that point I went to the front and asked for a manager and both of the clerks asked me what was wrong and denied me knowledge of who the manager was and when the gentleman at the front asked me what was going on I explain to him exactly and he told me I was overreacting and that it wasn't that big of a deal give me a sour look and I don't think I'll be going back in. read more

Very helpful staff. Decent prices. Great selections of just about anything you need. What more do you want? read more

These folks do a great job and their customer service always amazes me. I had a defective item I purchased a week or so ago, no receipt, and exchanged it with no questions asked. WOW! I really appreciate that and this is why I like patronizing this place. Also, the knowledge of their staff is perhaps the best in Eugene/Sprigfield, another plus! read more

Every time I go in there I get the best service. There is always someone available in each department to assist wIth questions/finding the right tool hardware. I've been in there multiple to times with no idea what hardware I i needed to fix something, and they found exactly what I needed. Far better than anyone at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Jerry's. I read I comment before this saying that someone didn't bring the sku with them to buy a specific screw, so now they shop at a big store... well that's on you and it's the same thing where you're shopping now haha. Thanks for always being my local go to, True Value. read more

I always go here first when I need something for the house or garden. The employees are able to help you find just what you need. The older employees especially are the ones I seek out for help since they know more and are more wiling to take the time to help. There are a couple of girls at the checkout counter that have attitude problems, but they are really just there to take your money, so no biggie. It's the guys on the floor that make this place work. read more

Every time I go in for something I need, it is impossible to find it without an employee showing me where it is. To make it worse, Eugene True Value is very understaffed, so it is often impossible to find someone available to help me. When they are finally available, they are helpful and friendly. Overall, I would rather drive all the way to Jerry's to get a larger, organized selection than come to the neighborhood True Value. read more

I have been coming to Eugene Hardware for years to find all kinds of odds and ends. They have a surprisingly large selection, especially if you see the store from Willamette street. There are actually two floors with the smaller items on the upper floor (main floor from Willamette St.) and the larger items below. The staff has been very helpful when I am looking for a specific type of item and the prices are reasonable. The parking lot along Willamette can be difficult to pull into and is often full so I recommend using the lot behind the store (most people forget about it). This is a great hardware store, especially if you do not want to go all the way to Jerry's. read more

I've been here a few times and the staff has always been helpful. Prices are a little higher than Home Depot, but I come here because the people who work here know what they're talking about and can actually make a decent product recommendation. Also the store's layout makes no sense and I always have to ask where something is. read more

I love this place! Like all retail stores, there are some staff with expertise in certain things and some that are more willing to "McGyver" when I present a problem with my old house. Overall, great service, good prices, and I like that it's close-by and convenient. They are good and strict about COVID precautions, too. read more

Good neighborhood hardware store. They've got what they've got and will refer you elsewhere if they don't have it. Plenty of staff to assist and some fun seasonal items. If mid-flight on a project, this place is very handy. read more

Great neighborhood hardware store. I come here frequently due to its convenient location, but the friendly and genuinely helpful staff are a great benefit. Whatever small projects I have--repairing a chicken coop, picking up canning supplies, looking for an odd-sized hex wrench to pull off a car door panel--they seem to have first-hand knowledge (and stories, if you've got a minute). Their gardening supplies are much more extensive than you'd think from their street. Their prices are also particularly good for canning, kitchen, and storage solutions, with regular sales. I'm a regular, so have an ongoing rapport with some staff members, but they are just as helpful and enthusiastic with first-time customers. read more

Being new to this magical town has been an adventure including many trips to this store. I'm blown away by how kind and helpful everyone is. So happy to support a local, family owned business. Thank you!!! read more

Have been a TrueValue customer for over 20 years and always enjoyed the convenient location. Having a long time local hardware store has been worth the increased price for decreased selection, until a recently bad experience makes me doubt their professionalism. Was absolutely surprised when a man named "John" cussed at me for requesting the paint samples he made be re-done because my girlfriend didn't like how the color didn't match. I have a degree from UO in Painting and am fully aware of how difficult a job paint matching can be, all I wanted was for the employee to look me in the eye without yelling about the job he had to do, as if it wasn't even his job. Absolutely embarrassing to have my feelings hurt like that in front of what must have been 5 other customers. read more

This is the best in town hardware store. They are also dog friendly so if you are with dog, people behind the counter will be happy to give treat. I like that there is such a wide selection from tools to kitchen ware. The staff is also friendly and they are happy to help with any home improvement project. read more

Haven't been going out much since covid, so I forgot my mask after a hectic morning. A very abusive man made inappropriate derogatory comments about my forgotten mask. I immediately reached into my purse and quickly put on my mask while I was near the door. That was not good enough for the red-haired cashier who jumped on the opportunity to take her aggressions out on me, attack me, verbally abusing me, yelling at me. I told her I forgot the mask, and asked her if she had ever made a mistake in her life. She continued with her assault of me, insulting me, even though at this point I already had my mask on, and was still by the door. The abusive man and the abusive cashier enjoyed ganging up on me with derogatory abuse, even after my mask was on. Her abuse was so violent I had to leave the store, and purchase my appliances elsewhere. I really want to support local businesses, but will spend my money elsewhere if this cashier can't control her compulsion to abuse me. I hate to see small and medium sized businesses going under, but I will not tolerate this cashier making me her whipping girl. A lot of people haven't been going out much due to covid and we are all getting used to new regulations, so sometimes people will forget to put on a mask. Cashiers can remind people to put on a mask without abusing customers. If a customer whips out their masks and puts it on right away, there is no excuse to keep abusing them. read more

Local matters. A lot. Especially if you're a bookstore or hardware store. True Value is our local, small and a little spendy. BUT - they are well staffed by knowledgable experts who have worked there a long time. And that's invaluable to (neophyte) me. Plus, 95% of the time they have what I need. So I go out of my way to buy local from these guys. And I've been fully satisfied by that bargain for a long time now. These guys (and gals) are good! read more

Great shop with a nice small town feel. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They have an overwhelming amount of inventory with a wide variety. I was looking for "starter" toolkit. Wow. They have such a variety of stuff. Don't forget to check out the clearance items on the main floor!!

GLAD to have them in South Eugene, happy to spend $ at a locally owned business. Great employees. Their HOURS though! It's been very frustrating over the years, they close at 6:00! That's just terrible, but they're the only game in south town so,... I've never come across a hardware store anywhere on the west coast that closes so early. Not too smart as folks increasingly head for the Home depots, Fred Meyer's, Lowes, Harbor freight, etc, that actually have Reasonable hours for their customers! (And lower prices). Please True Value, remain local & competitive & serve us with practical hours? read more
