If I could use negative stars. The absolute WORST moving experience I have ever had. I am not sure if the previous positive reviews were left by relatives of the owner or the company has undergone some change, but it has been a horrible, unprofessional experience. I hired the company to move my one bedroom apartment from California to Illinois. First off, the inventory list they brought with them wasn't even correct, and they tried to blame me for it. I had updated my inventory days prior with an added bed. The movers come and they have no bed on their list. I had to pull out my computer and show them, and even then they had to talk to their manager to make sure it was "OK". I was willing to brush that off as not a big deal, until after they took my belongs and my first payment. COMPLETE BAIT AND SWITCH. They guarantee a delivery within three weeks, we are now on week two and a half, and they have given me excuse after excuse as to why my items are not delivered. I have been given a series of excuses about the truck breaking and a series of moving dates. Everytime I call the company I speak to a different person, and they give me a later date. They when I say, "when (insert name here) told me the truck was leaving Monday, " there would be a long pause, and then they would say things such as, "I don't know who/who would tell you that." What is even worse is that their number in California goes to the messaging service and the messages are never returned. I literally left 15 messages asking for a call back (supposedly the owner runs the California office) and have never gotten a call back. I have also asked for messages to be sent to the supervisor and managers and those have never been returned either. I doubt they even got them to be honest. I have also left countless messages online, asking for replies and and I don't get anything. Save yourself - use a bigger, reputable company. Or better yet, sell your stuff, because your sanity is not worth going with this company. read more

I recently used Michael's to move from CA to CO and couldn't be happier with the service and quality of care I was given. Items were dropped off 2 days after I arrived. Preston was an ace from start to finish and accommodated me every step of the way. There are some negative reviews of this company, but my experience was excellent. I'm pretty wary of moving companies and movers, but both moving teams were professional, courteous and awesome. Make sure you accurately report everything that needs to be shipped, or your final quote may be very different than your original quote. read more

Everything went fine on packing day - the movers showed up on time and packed the possessions (which are priceless to the family from emotional standpoint). I still don't have the shipment. It has been two months (the moving contract promises 21 business days at the longest) and all I have is a series of excuses about the truck breaking and a series of moving dates. What is even worse is that their number in California goes to the messaging service and the messages are never returned. I literally left 15 messages asking for a call back (supposedly the owner runs the California office) and have never gotten a call back. If the Boston office didn't pick I would think this was a scam and not a real company. Save yourself - use a bigger, reputable company. read more

Michael's Moving & Storage brought my stuff in about the same shape it was when it was picked up and within the 15 business days they guaranteed my belongings would be delivered. Those are about the only good things I can say about my experience with this company. I made a move from southern California to southern Michigan and Michael's Moving and Storage only made it more stressful and more of a headache. Besides the actual delivery of my possessions, they were late on everything - they were more than a half hour late when they gave me an in-house estimate, it took more than a week to get a confirmation email after I booked the move (an EMAIL - took me more than three phone calls) , they were 45 minutes late picking up my belongings, and they delivered my stuff 45 minutes later than the 11:30-1 :00time slot they gave me. I was told conflicting information on what form of payment I could use multiple times. I was wrongly charged twice for the "long carry" fee, and received a refund, and then they tried to charge me a third time for it upon delivery. I was misinformed on how to properly pack things like large artwork and glass - and therefore was charged hundreds of dollars in extra "special boxes" and a packing fee even after I made the call myself to ask how they should be packed - something that no one would have ever told me if I didn't take the initiative to ask first. They didn't tell me the correct information anyway, though. When my stuff did arrive, I disputed the long carry fee they attempted to charge me because I was told earlier in the week by their employee, Preston, that my balance would not change. I wasn't present at the time of delivery - but the guy who headed the delivery workers openly badmouthed me in front of my significant other while on the phone with his manager. They were unprofessional, not personable - and just so happened to trash the paper cups we gave them with water, plus large sheets of plastic covering, outside of our apartment in the grass. Michael and Preston were always professional and polite to me. But I can't say the same about the rest of the company's employees who I dealt with and the way they conducted business. Best movers I have had in a while and I have used a lot. I don't ever post reviews but they really went above and beyond. Highly recommend!

They got there 2 hours late. Broke a tree branch by hanging on it to make room for the moving truck. They Argued in front of my family amongst themselves. They dropped my nice refrigerator on it's side on the pavement. It's dented and the circuit board does not work My dining leather chairs are ruined. The actual price was 3k more than quoted. They charged for boxes they said were included. They removed our stuff from the original truck. Stored it with out asking us and charged us for it. They were about to re route it to Florida and then bring back a week later. Upon arrival: My hard floor vac is broken. My steam vac is broken. My decorative tall bamboo trees are damaged. My dining leather chairs are ruined. Mac desktop computer messed up. I spoke to Preston, Alex, Mike , Preston, Alex, Freddy. Mike said he'd call me back in two days... a week and a half a go. He said he'd replace my fridge and chairs. STILL WAITING......I'm getting the run around...they don't care about customer service and follow through. Mike talks a good caring song but he does not know how to dance to it. Please go with a more expensive honest and respectful company. I am highly disappointed in their service and customer relations. read more

Recently did a full cross country move (CA to the East Coast) and have to say it I was prepared for the worst. Go rent the 80's movie moving with RicharsPrior, and youll know what Im talking about.... But with this the crew here, it was the most effective and hassle free process possible. The team in OC loaded everything efficently and professionally, and with detail. It was even delivered when they said it would be exactly. (Actually even a day early) And in a process like this, basically data, updates, and coordination is paramount. And Preston and the crew did a great job the whole way. Prior to the pickup, in transit, amd a delivery. In a move, you are always waiting for the unforeseen screw up...something dropped, lost, sloten ect. Nothing remote close to that here. Professional accross the board. Usually dont review businesses, but had to here as they kicked ass. Awesome work. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!They were supposed to arrive between 7am and 11am. The night before the move they called and asked if they could come later around noon. At 12:30 pm no one has called us or showed up for the move. Finally we reach them and they say they will arrive at 2:30pm. At 3:30pm they finally call us back and and say they can not do the move today and they are booked all weekend but can move us the following weekend. read more

I was recently planning a move from Los Angeles to Charlotte, NC and was impressed by the professionalism of Michaels Moving and Storage. Preston, their associate, helped me to ask the right questions when interviewing other companies and included in his initial quote all the information I would need to properly estimate the cost of the move. With other companies I had to pick and prod them to get the answers. Preston even went above and beyond my expectations by arranging to visit my apartment, assess the entire situation, and provide me with a quote that eliminated the fear of surprise costs usually associated with a long distance move. Ultimately, my situation changed at the last minute and I no longer needed a moving service, but I would recommend Michaels Moving and Storage with confidence for those looking for excellent service and value. read more

The literal black hole of moving and storage-Michaels! These guys are seemingly good and helpful, but really they overcharge, are incompetent, and the worst of all, they lie every step of the way. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They charge 350 for a sofa 400 for a mattress, etc. (I had a friend who owned a very large and reputable moving company and he said they were taking us!!! ) Their 15 day policy are business days and they refund a paltry 35 for each day late. My family's and my friends' furniture has been MIA for over one month. They have continued to lie, telling us the furniture will be here, but we have seen nothing. And unless you call them, you will never hear from them, and likely never see your stuff. I have no idea who these other yelpers are that rate them so positively-probably relatives or friends. Again-find another company- do not risk losing your money,furniture, belongins and your peace of mind to this disreputable company. read more
