This is probably one of the smallest Michael's I have ever been to. It's your typical Michael's. There is nothing special to this place. Only thing is that they always have a lot of staffs on the floor, but no one is really friendly and they don't even make eye contact or say hi. I went shopping here for a scrapbook project and the prices here are a lot cheaper for the books, papers, and stickers than Joann's, but they have a smaller selection than Joann does. If you are looking to scrapbook then I would recommend Joann's, because 1/4 of the store is dedicated to just scrap-booking. However do compare prices if you are on a budget, because Michael's is a tad cheaper. read more

If you're a crafter, this is the place to go. The hardest part is finding a parking place, and getting through the narrow aisles. It sometimes seems cluttered and crammed, but that's because there is so much stuff! It's 50/50 about staff helpfulness. Sometimes I get help easily, and sometimes it takes a search party to find someone that can help. Go early in the season, or plan your crafts the season before, because they can run out of supplies quickly. read more

I never used to go to Michaels as much as I do now. For the last year, I've been slowly planning my wedding and getting the DIY stuff out of the way so I'm on pretty intimate terms with all the Michaels Sacramento by now. I've had consistently great customer service at this Michaels. Apparently Michaels has a pretty strict return/coupon policy but each time I have come to this Michaels, they have always been willing to work with me. I went in for an item that shouldn't be seasonal, and was told it was "packed away upstairs to make room for the Christmas stuff". Christmas is more than 2 months away. It's not even Halloween. Why would you put a regular item away to make room for seasonal stuff, especially so far in advance. They lost a customer today. read more

I went to this store looking for something I needed for a project, but I found out not all Michaels' stores carry the same things as their online store does. This store seems to have a low number of available staff. The store is well stocked, clean, and organized for the items they carry. I wait 20 minutes in line with two other people in front of me with less than 5 items. read more

I'm so so about the store itself because I'm not that crafty of a person - I just needed a glue gun. I'm giving them 5 stars because I don't know what the heck I was thinking but I left my wallet in the store and had already crossed the parking lot before seeing the cashier and 2 kind customers running after me with my wallet. Came here for all my scrap booking needs. Limited selection and the store's a bit cramped and unorganized, but all the sales definitely made up for it! Workers are friendly and it's by Target so it's convenient. Edit: I came in last week ten minutes before the store closed to quickly grab one item that was near the register but two female workers told me they're closing and didn't allow me to come in and get it, even though there were three other customers in the store. Don't normally like to go into this store it's extremely cluttered and always a pain to find things. I was here this time for two pictures to be matted. We got EXCELLENT customer service from Denise. She pointed out where we could select the matting helped us with the colors and even suggested that we bring in the pictures so she could better help us choose the matting. I actually drove way out of my way to go to this Michaels (in Elk Grove), as it is much better stocked than any other store in the area. In fact, Mapquest had given me the wrong directions and I got lost looking for it, but when I called, they were as friendly as could be, and gave me easy directions that had me there in 10 minutes. I find their customer service to be great. When I got in line to pay, they immediately called another cashier (difficult to find in this tough economy), and they were efficient as well as friendly. I love shopping here. The cashiers are friendly. This is one of my favorite craft supplies store. They usually have what I need. Almost everytime I end up leaving with alot more then I came for. They have a pretty good selection most of the time. Holidays can be crazy unorganized and the lines are long. It can be the same with busy weekends, so thats not going to stop me from coming back. I almost forgot, I have to come by here once through the Holidays I love picking a new piece for our home every year :) read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Michaels, right now it's more love than hate. When it comes to convenience, Michaels is your 1 stop shop for all of your crafty needs. Its rare that I leave the store empty handed or disappointed. I know I may have to search but I'll find it somewhere within their four walls. The employees are all extremely helpful and eager to assist. The customer service really speaks to the culture that Michaels has established amongst their employees. Each store embodies that culture and as a customer this is an aspect that i value and appreciate. Pricing is where I tend to "hate" Michaels. A few times I've priced out items to be almost double the cost compared to their competitors. However true to form and their culture, Michaels has offered to match the price. Honestly if you want good service, copious selection, and the best quality you'll shop at Michaels. read more

I have been shopping at this store for years now & I spend quite a bit since I love crafting. I just hate coming here now because some of the staff are kind of rude. Holiday season is here & I've been at this store 5 times the past 2 weeks. Today I've had it with their rude staff. I'm not a difficult customer at all but I do like to take advantage of their coupons. They gave me such a hard time both times I tried using the last two coupons they had. The items were clearly eligible for the discount but were refused. I've had to walk away without getting the items I really wanted or paid more than what I was hoping.. I was pretty bummed about it. This has happened to me at least a dozen times here in the past year. I love Michaels but not the staff at this location.. I might have to give all my business to Joanns & Hobbylobby. read more

I used to really like Michael's, but ever since I moved up here, I'm doubting the store in general. Today our experience was an okay one, but as my grandmother and I looking for items, nobody asked us if we needed any assistance or help finding the items we were looking for. Once we finally found someone to help us look for an item the lady seemed not only extremely irritated but also completely unknowledgable about where the Guache was. She went so far as to say, "Oh the Goo-aShh" . (She corrected my pronunciation... first off.. im an art major and I was pronouncing it right. (Gwahh-shh) like squash.. and second off, if you don't know what it is, get help! Its paint, not a clay thing! Then to make that fiasco better, our clerk was extremely rude to my grandmother (simply because shes a bit slower) and the line was longer. I went to this store today because I had a coupon for 50% off for regular price item. I knew Michael's would be expensive before I even entered this store but I thought 50% was quite a bit to save. It's so expensive here unless you have to go. I was looking for a frame and thought ideally this would be the perfect place. All the associates were very helpful except the last guy. He was assisting me to see if they had a product in their store since there were none on the shelf. He checked the rest of the store and they didn't have it. He told me to check online and then I asked him if they do Ship-to-store. And he confidently said "yes we do." I said "perfect." As I walking out, my friend and I were beginning to think that was untrue. I came home and went to their website and they don't do ship-to-store which would have been way cheaper than shipping (This product is an over-sized item.). I had a good overall experience except when the last associate blatantly lied to me saying that Michael's does ship-to-store. I went online and they didn't even have the product online - it was out of stock! Ugh...I'll just go somewhere else to get this product. In fact, I already have and found it way cheaper than Michael's. It's sad that the guy lied to me but I quickly dismissed by taking my business elsewhere. Overall, the associates were helpful and knew their information except the last guy. I think he just told me what I wanted to hear. If you don't know the information or that Michael's doesn't do ship-to-store, please be honest to the consumer. read more

Although Michaels stores are usually smaller than JoAnns, I think they have better prices on most things. BUT, they are not great at taking coupons. They usually only accept one, where as JoAnns will take as many as you have as long as they are different coupon codes. As far as customer service is concerned, JoAnns and Michaels are just about even. :) Overall, I like Michaels! read more

This store is very disorganized. Like items are not stocked together. I am always very confused the entire time I am there. The staff don't even know where to find things, or they don't want to help. Dont waste your money here. If you're a male they'll just assume youre going to steal something. They'll tell you that they will bring it up to the register for u, but what they really think is... this mofo about to steal this ishh. U hand them a large bill, they basically assume its fake. They hold it up to the light, feel the paper, put it up to the light some more, and then mark it with the pen. Charged twice for the same item. Realized when I got home and called the store. They said I have to go back in for their mistake. So annoyed. I think this happens to a lot of people and they don't realize unless they check their receipt. read more
