I come here at least 3 times a week. I never leave this store without finding something and I love how every week they always have coupons, I always use either 40% off or 50% off coupons. Beware don't bring anything to be framed! My bf and I had several pieces framed here because we thought how bad can it be? I've been back 3 times and am currently still waiting 35 minutes plus for them to get it right. The first time two items had long hairs under the glass. The next time I returned a piece was damaged. 3 stars for the selection - 0 stars for customer service, which in my book knocks the place down to 2 stars. I've needed help 3-4 times recently when I've been in there and every single time I get the distinct impression that I'm being a pain in the arse if I ask for help. One person had no idea what I was talking about and basically just walked away, saying she couldn't help me. Another rushed off in the middle of a question never to be seen again, and today when I went in there I needed help and a staff member was too busy socializing to help. Worse night ever. Was late to Michaels because I had to put down baby before trying to have a special art surprise for the wifey. Was about 20 min late after closing. Manager didn't give me a what I felt was a legit reason to let me buy what I needed(5 blank canvases). I was willing to leave ID, cellphone and wallet ( they could've held in the lost and found). Because their register was closed, I don't understand why they couldn't open it up for one last purchase. I didn't even need to go inside because I could point to and describe exactly where it was. If she didn't want to use my cash she could hold my items until the morning. I explain it was life and death situation and she basically signed off on my death sentence. I was friendly and explained for about 10 total minutes to another employee then the manager. I was okay with anything. The worker could've bought things for herself and then I could've venmo'd or what not. Epic sadness. Very unhappy especially with what I described would've been enough. I just feel like if you're the manager, you wouldn't be in trouble from an owner for taking one extra order for someone in trouble. read more

The staff has become dim-witted...what little staff there is.....and the lines are ridiculously long ALL THE TIME! Expect to wait 1/2 hour or more just to get checked out by the poorly-trained kids they hire here who have no knowledge about customer service, or being helpful, or being sincere as opposed to plastering on a fake smile while they're standing there daydreaming about who knows what....really....very unpleasant to shop at this location. read more

I like the store itself, you can find pretty much what you need here. The problem I have is with the people who answer the phone. I just called here to schedule a craft party and the girl on the phone said I had to come in to schedule it. I asked if I could schedule it over the phone, since most other places of business can schedule a simple transaction like that over the phone. Well, not this place! She said "well, you have to come in and schedule it." Just like that. Obviously they don't need my business! So a word to the management: if you would like to continue to receive loyal support from your customers, please train your employees on how to answer the phone and how to actually be HELPFUL instead of RUDE!!! read more

If you're looking for art supplies , paint, etc. DO NOT COME HERE. Terrible service from the second I decided to place an order online for curbside pick up. I placed an order yesterday and online it said my order would be ready before or at 3pm no later. I had signed up for updated texts so I would know immediately when my 3 items were ready for me to pick up. By 3pm I got a text message that they started my order but I never received anything after that point . I figured, they must be really busy. The following day I called in the morning and explained I got a text yesterday my order was being prepared if I could get an update. The lady who answered the phone Tina, was extremely disrespectful from the beginning of the phone call and didn't care to help or speak to me. All I wanted was an update or time frame when my order would be ready for pick up and she told me she wouldn't check when my order was ready & I'll receive a message & to call back in a few hours . Finally a few hours later I got the text my order was ready so I went to go pick up. And my problems didn't end there. I go to park where they have an area for curb side and it was a mess. I parked there for a whole hour without any assistance . They had only 1 lady working by herself with about 10 or more cars. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she was alone and it was busy . I asked her twice if she could check my order both times she got my name and order # , left and came back with someone else's order. After when I started to notice person after person being helped but me, & I was just being ignored I finally stepped out my car to be acknowledged. I see another worker and told her how long I've been waiting and that I think her co-worker forgot about my order. She tried to say I moved my car and that it was my fault . I never once moved my car, I was in the same spot the whole time. I will never order again from here. SOOO Inconvenient & the workers are disrespectful to paying customers! read more

i always shop for crafts here that's"s great, but on the other hand what is not great is a party i had for my daughters fifth birthday!!! i paid 50$ that is supposed to cover the room and materials for the crafts that i purchase per child that is invited. after i paid my $50, i was working with a manager named jackson who is completely not knowing anything about the birthday party set up or how it is supposed to work. i have been ripped off by michael's"s and i am now fighting for my $50 deposit to be refunded!!! i sent a email to the corporate office 2 weeks before my b-day was to happen to let them know all the confusion and wrong information that i was given between two managers, (jackson and brian) corporate got me in touch with a district manager bret who was more then willing to make sure that everything that is included in the birthday package was given to me and bret put me in touch with another manager jennifer who is in charge of the birthday party stuff. jennifer is great she was more then willing to work out all the miss ha ps and made me very secure that my party was now on its way to being what it described to be on the michael's web site and in the advertisement in stores, well america my daughters party was a mess, everything that was supposed to be was not, jennifer was there, i had to deal with jackson again, he did not want to provide glue, scissors, glitter, all this was supposed to be taken care of, i had to keep telling the party helpers to call jennifer or bret so they can be aware of what i was told by the district manager bret as well as by jennifer. my situation got worsened now corporate is only sending me emails no phone calls, and they are pretty much saying the won't refund my money but are offering me a $65 gift card!!!! this is not fair, michael's was trying to charge me $2 a head that was over the count of 10, the room holds 17, and michael's told me that adults were included in the head count. i was told at first that i pay for the crafts and michael's supplies the materials, then i was told that i had to supply the material's, i was given a half hour before the set party time to have time to put up balloons. this is why i sent the email to corporate. bret told me no worries, no $2 fee for over 10 heads, adults are not included in the count, michael's will supply glue, scissors, glitter. he also told me he would through in a dozen of balloons. jennifer told me michael's can not fill up the balloons, so i paid $15 to have them filled, the day of the party only half of my crafts were there no craft supplies and guess what, there was a dozen balloons there already and filled. i'm asking michael's to refund my $50 plus the $15. now michael's dose not want to communicate like before, only emails. col ma michael's is under trained, a pain in the ass and disrespectful in the areas of if they are wrong then they as a business should correct the wrongs and make them right!!! my husband was murdered in january and i wanted to make a special day for our little girl to take us all away from this terrible time we are in... don't plan any parties here in col ma ca. don't trust the management with what they say, and the corporate seems to be shady as well. read more

I've always been a crafter, but this past year I've been kind of obsessive about buying and making things. It made me aware that Michaels has the best deals on everything. I've gone a couple of times and couldn't get what I needed, but even then I received a lot help from those working there. When new products come out, Michaels is usually not the first to carry them, but when they do they are cheaper! PLUS, they always have a coupon of some sort. So basically, it's not your one-stop-shop (despite the size of the place) but what they have is great. Oh, and if you enjoy craft classes, they have a ton of those too. read more

The store itself carries a vast array of Arts and Craft merchandise. Kudos! BUT, the Customer Service of staff is VERY poor. The employees are not forthcoming to accomodate the needs of customers. There response to inquiries is "I don't know" andt they do not take the extra step to research any further. Another poor excuse is "All our inventory is on the floor and if you don't see it, well?" Well ... I don't think I will be shopping at Michael's and will frequent the other 2 Arts and Craft stores in the area. read more

My prop for Comic-Con wasn't quite finished yet, as it needed some minor detailing. So I dropped by here to pick up some craft paint to bring along with me to San Diego for my little project. Not knowing a darn thing about the actual cost of the paint, I winged it and weaved through the aisles aimlessly. I eventually found the paint section, and to my surprise, they were really cheap in price. Also picked up a set of brushes as well. These guys definitely did the trick, and I'll be using them again next year to touch up on the areas of slight wear and tear my prop gained at the convention. I highly recommend this place to anyone who gets bitten by the craft bug. You won't be sorry! Your bank account, however, might be. read more

There's no Michael's in San Francisco therefore I'm always going to this location. It's conveniently located close to the 280 and extremely close to other stores like Target, Dollar Tree, and the mall. I'm a little girl in a candy store whenever I visit Michaels because it seems like I come for one item and I leave with the whole store. This location has everything that you need for DIY projects and it's clean with lots of room to maneuver around. Remember to always check online for the 40% or 20% coupon. The people working at the register are always friendly and attentive. They also have different classes so you can bring a date or set up a group event. read more

I was browsing with my child who was at the pen display centre with their colouring sheet supplied at the stand. The manager said to my 4 year old child, "is mom going to buy that?" I replied saying that my child was testing out the pen while I was browsing and that maybe we weren't going to buy the pen but I purchased a lot of other things. I came to procure some baking materials, and was surprised to find it only filled up two aisles, instead of the 3-4 I normally see at the Emeryville Michael's. I LOVE MICHAELS, and I'm so glad they finally opened one here! My favorite part is going online and printing coupons to get 40% or 50% off one item. I usually come here to pick up random stuff for my card-making and those coupons really come in handy. I was looking for an embossing gun and they're about $20 online and everywhere else, but I found one at Michael's, used my coupon, and only paid $11. Pretty awesome. They also have a bunch of $1 stock cards, stamps and ribbons that come in handy when I feel like being crafty. I can spend hours in this store. Love Michaels and LOVE Arts & Crafts. This location has a ton of goodies to offer.. Maybe even overloaded. My top gripes would be just that.. It's almost too much to really be able maneuver and find what you need without help.. Which leads to my other gripe.. It's a challenge finding someone to help you, and once you do, it's likely they have 3 mire customers ahead of you. They get really busy weekend afternoons as well, but I've discovered Sunday evenings.. maybe an hour or two before closing is a lot more mellow and easier to do your crafts shopping. Otherwise, I love Michaels, and so far, haven't met an employee there who hasn't been helpful. read more

They gave me a great coupon, but when I got to the store, the line was extremely long. Not worth the savings. I tried to get there when they opened so I checked on line and it was posted at 8 am. Out of all the Michael stores I've been to, this place has the huuuugest scrapbooking department! I went in for knitting needles, but got distracted by the large assortment of pretty papers and clearance embellishments. The store staff has always been friendly to me and the checkout line isn't too bad on the weekends. I also prefer coming to this store for craft supplies rather than the Joann's in the next shopping plaza since I find they have a better selection and prices (especially if you use the 40% off coupons in their weekly ad). read more

I'm a fan of this place b/c the arts and crafts supplies are abundant and just so fun to browse through and/or buy. I always like to look around the yarn aisles for new, interesting pamphlets. I bought great, stock paper to make cupcake toppers for my daughter's birthday. If I ever need packaging for gifts, I always come to Michael's. Love this store. They always have what I need and more. Some of the items are a little overpriced BUT they always have coupons. 25%-50% off. You really can not complain about this, right? I'm always looking for crafting supplies for different projects and I can always come here. I should mention that they sell cardstock in many different colors and prints. They often go on sale 4/$1 or 6/$1 so I stock up. What I do have to mention is that they have kids crafts aisles and they carry Crayola products and things like that. These items I've found to always be over-priced so I wouldn't purchase them here (unless you had a discount coupon). This isn't the biggest store but it has a decent selection. The customer service is great here. The sales associates are always easy to find and do their best to help you find what you're looking for. They are also always very pleasant. FRONT end operations and coupons... Hershel A. from 12.01.2018, is spot on. I don't know if all the Michaels' stores are laid out in the way the Colma store is, but I certianly hope not. I don't mind standing in a long line as long as its evident that cashiers are adequately staffed, and working hard. What bothered me was yesterday's visit to return an item. Then Colma store has no obivious Customer Service desk. I walked up to the casheir working closest to the front entrance and informed him that I wish to make return. He pointed me to the primary queue for 'PURCHASING', and said returns are done from the same line!! I was lucky, only three peole in line at that very instance. It's bad enough people are poorly reviewing this store for the long lines to purchase, but just add insult to injury if you have to get into a line of 16-18 people just to make a return. Micheals Colma, I hope this is on your 'radar' to correct, becuase, like a lot of your reviewers overall, I enjoy shopping at Michaels Arts and Crafts. Second concern, is the Company's poorly (perhaps decieptful, even), marketing of thier 50% off coupon. The "Not-Valid-on..."fine print is clear, stating, not valid on 'EVERYDAY Value Program (EVP) items...' and so forth. The short-coming is that much of the EVP items in the store are not (or sparsely ) labeled or signed as such. So there I am (yesterday as well), carefully inspecting my item and the shelf signage for any indication of EVP status; then standing in the meandering queue of customers waitng to purchase ( or return?). I had not not found anyone on the salesfloor, prior to queuing to confirm my one item will be acceptable to the coupon, so I patiently waiting to 'gamble'. The cashier was polite and empthethic enough once voicing my grievance, but I was taken aback when she added, with a finger pointed to the UPC code on the item "oh "we" know its an EVP item because the UPC starts with these #, #s...?! That's nice that you the empolyee know this little 'tell"; what about us poor customers?. Michaels (esp Colma), how bout being up front with your customers?..execute diligence and integrity, with your EVP signage on pertinent items. thank you read more

I always wondered what this store held . They carry lots of stickers . They carry model toy cars and the materials you need to create your own . They carry fake flowers , arts and crafts supplies , and some other things . The store is alright but I prefer Jo-Ann Fabrics ... they have a better selection of things . read more

I went to Michael's yesterday to get one thing and stood in line for 20 minutes to check out. This is an unreasonable wait time, in my opinion. Clearly, customer service is not a priority. The clerk told me that I should expect a long wait this time of year. Really? It was 10:30 am on a Thursday, not Christmas Eve. With that attitude, I can only assume that Michael's is aiming for zero customer service and maximum profit. Understaffed. I won't be back. read more

This review is solely for the Framing Department. I am very disappointed in the outcome of my custom frame job. I initially picked up my very large framed photo print and it looked beautiful. Once home, there was styrofoam stuck behind the plexiglas. Hauling the item back to Michael's was a pain considering the weight, odd shape and gas costs. A gentleman happily removed and fixed the imperfection on the spot, which I greatly appreciated. Now that the photo is hung on the wall, it's noticeable how poorly the photo was framed. The print is not properly snug within the frame and it shows obvious waves of having been previously rolled up. It's now an eye sore in the bedroom versus a centerpiece. Framing is quite expensive and such a hefty price should only have the best results. read more

This particular store is a mess. After a recent outing with gift card in hand, I was disappointed to find misplaced merchandise and some shelves entirely empty of products. The sewing section in particular is a major disappointment. If you don't check the UPC code (!!!!!) against the posted price, you are apt to be overcharged if you are buying a LOT of stuff. That's what happened to me, and when I complained, I was made to feel like I was a dumb-ass for not making sure that the product I was buying was in the right section, never mind that it was IN the right vicinity. Can you imagine checking the UPC code of every single doodad you put in your shopping cart when you are stocking up on supplies? Prices: ok. Selection: Amazing, if the products were actually stocked. Gahhhh, this store in particular is awful. They are horribly understaffed and you can expect to wait 15-20 minutes to get checked out. There is usually only one register open and when they finally call for back up it takes at least ten minutes for someone else to show up. Not to mention it's hard to find anyone who works there when you have a question. Unfortunately, it's the closest Michaels and I go on average twice a week (which is why I can rightfully attest to the lack of customer service). Other then how frustratingly long it takes to buy what you need, the store is not effectively laid out and you have to navigate through it like a maze to get what you need. read more
