Running errands and needed to come here on a hot summer day. Walked in and this place is pretty huge. Not a lot of shoppers, which is good for me, but not that many workers either. Asked where I could find transfer wax paper (to create screen tees) and the first girl didn't know (it was her first day) but the next girl directed me right to them. I went to Jo-Ann's the last time looking for this and they did not have it. Michaels always has everything I needed! I wish I had a coupon but I didn't have any ready so I paid for the transfer wax papers full price. It was a quick transaction and even though the store is huge, the worker knew exactly where the merchandise was (very impressed esp bc they are in the middle of re-arranging things!). Between the two craft stores at Crossroads, I favor this store over Joann (although it is a tad smaller than Joann and that's probably because they don't carry fabric), the staff is helpful and somewhat knowledgeable about their products. If they don't know the answer, they will find someone that can answer the question. When there's a line of people waiting at the registers, they'll call for back up, so you aren't waiting for very long. They do offer weekly coupons but if they don't have one for the week, they will take competitors coupons - no questions asked. read more

Michael's is like Costco for arts & crafts nerds. I get all my fabric paints here and they have a ridiculously huge selection of everything under the sun.... But where the hell is the sandpaper? Good luck finding anything here. Every Sunday they put out a new 40% off coupon in the Times. read more

Easy to shop, usually it's pretty clean and stocked well. The cashier line can get pretty long and they are slow to check people out, but o'well. You get what you need, and there are coupons in the Sunday paper! read more

Absolutely fantastic customer service by Pam and the nice female cashier with the short, curly brown hair! (Sorry I didn't catch her name.) I went into Michaels on a very wet, blah gray morning to return a large wreath that I had purchased on line. It was quite the ordeal needless to say ;) but Pam came over to help the cashier and graciously returned the wreath for me. She was very respectful and kind to me throughout the interaction. It was such a tremendous relief to not have to lug the huge wreath back to my car and then to the post office. Writing a pissy review as I've been waiting over 45 mins in the custom framing department. The female employee let someone cut the line (apparently they had been around earlier, but they aren't standing in the line like the rest of us, are they? - not OK) Update: My visit lasted over 2 hours, thanks to glitches in their finicky, poor quality system. No one ever smiles in this store! I feel like I am a burden every time it ask for assistance. It's disorganized, rude, and uneducated. Michael's is like heaven for craft junkies. You can find anything you need for any sort of craft in this store. They offer supplies for everything from painting to baking and even jewelry making. It is always well stocked and everything is somewhat easy to find. When you can't find something, you simply walk up to an employee and ask them where to find the thing you are looking for. The customer service is great and the employees are friendly and eager to help. The prices are affordable and they offer coupons weekly and even match coupons other craft stores might offer on similar products. There are two convenient check out stations by each of the exits. They are both bombarded with last minute things you can get that overwhelm you. The store is crowded during the weekend and the lines are super long. If you want to escape the massive lines the weekend has to offer, go during the week. Every time I go there they always have what I am looking for and the customer service is always great. Shout out to Ruthie who did an awesome job yesterday! Thank you Ruthie! I went in to find out if a desk I had seen in an email ad earlier in the day was available in-store or if I had to order it online. Ruthie got her device off her belt, looked up my desk by item number I had written down and led me right to it. So, it is available in-store! I couldn't get it just then because it was too heavy and I was in the wrong car, but she told me not to worry, that there were at least two in the store and that I could come back and pick it up later. I had also come in to get more sidewalk chalk because we had used it all up (it does not last long around my house because we have a great big cul-de-sac on our street!). It wasn't on sale BOGOF anymore, but she was able to show me where it was kept on the shelf (not up front on the "Summer!!" display any more--that had Halloween stuff on it--IN JULY!!). She also showed me a less expensive option that had multiples of white and yellow and the most popular colors, so I was very glad I had asked. My one comment: You guys should make a single line that takes the next customer rather than have a bunch of lines at each register. My salesperson had a grumpy lady who could not find her coupon but was determined to use it and so we all stood there forever while she grumped out. The other cashier happily checked all her people out and then took the lady in front of me (which was the kind thing to do). It is frustrating to find what you want so easily but then wait in an unfair line longer than you were shopping! Otherwise I really like this store and I have found everything I needed. I have taken several art pieces for framing to Michael's (Crossroads location) and about %75 percent of the time the piece is framed beautifully and on time. I find that I get expert advice on choosing a frame especially when working with Kelsey. Yesterday was one of the %25 times the art work is for the school auction and frankly they did a very poor job of following the specific framing request and it really detracted from the work. Although they were properly apologetic and cheerfully offered to re-frame the piece at no cost. Today is the art preview and the auction piece needs to be redone. I was able to take the piece home so I have something to show. I have had this same experience on two other occasions where something was not right. They recover well but, if you have a big deadline I suggest you go else where or don't pick up your work the day it is due since you may have to have it redone. My daughter had a collage due at school and we were already on the Eastside so we stopped off at Michaels. I get in over my head when I am there-all the Martha Stewart-like projects I see all over the store and my belief that it would be easy. What would take Martha Stewart one hour to create takes me one week. I like their products for making your own greeting cards. Its always nice to give a personal card to someone. I buy a lot of their arts supplies since I fancy myself an amatuer artist. Their holiday decorations are great especially for Halloween and Christmas. I feel that their artwork is overpriced and that's why they always have the 40% off coupon. Lots of crafts for the kids to do- My daughter likes their create your own jewelery kits and my son likes the foam projects-unfortunately both end up with pieces in my vaccum. This is the place to go if you are looking for rainy day projects for the kids, shower/wedding crafts or favors, paper projects or good holiday decorations. read more

I would give it 0 star if I could! This place has the worst customer service! I signed up for a November cake decorating class back in October. On the day of the class, I got a call and was told that I was the only one who signed up, it was postponed a week so they could get more students. The 2nd week, I called to check if the class was going to happen. After being on hold for an hour, I was told the class was on. When I went to the store that night, the instructor got into an accident and the class was canceled. (She was not injured. We were told to go back the 3rd week.) When I went back the 3rd week, we were told the class was canceled, we should take the December class. The first day of the December class, a whole group of us waited for over 45 minutes while the instructor talked to the store people. The following week, she wasn't even there. We waited for over 30 minutes only to find out that the class was canceled and the instructor didn't bother to call us. This week, I went to the class only to find out the class was permanently canceled since the instructor quit. I was told to get refunded when I had my receipt. Now, through all of this, the Michaels people were extremely UNHELPFUL. They don't know who signed up for the class even though I signed up for the class in the store. They don't call and notify us anything. They are completely clueless. Today when I went to get the refund, even though the cashier didn't flat out refuse, she wasn't exactly helpful either. She kept on questioning me why I wanted a refund, pointing out the receipt has expired (their 60 day return policy! It's not my fault that I didn't get the class more than 60 days after I signed up!), making stupid statements like I didn't have any material to return (They didn't give me anything other than a receipt for the class, what material could I possibly return?!!!!!), then she tried to refund me less money than I paid for. At this point, I got very frustrated, and raised my voice a little bit to complain. (I wasn't yelling or anything. I even said I know it's not her fault, but it IS Michaels' fault!) However, not only was she not apologetic, she had the audacity to cut me off and tell me to calm me and not take it out on her! Isn't this all Michaels' fault? Isn't she a representative of Michaels?! Through it all, no one ever apologized, not even the manager! I will spare you other little incidents while I shopped for class materials in the store. I think this is the worst customer service ever. They don't care about their customers at all. I had to make other arrangements for my kids so that I could take the class, and after driving over, only to find out the class was canceled almost EVERY time! I'm never going back to Michaels ever again! Stay away, buy your stuff elsewhere! They don't care about your business. read more

Urgently needed a white sweep for photography, so I stopped by to pick up a few DIY supplies. Not having shopped at a Michaels in a decade or more, I asked a staff member to direct me towards the foam board. Not only did she walk me directly to the location, but helped me find every item on my list -- including full-size mat board which not typically in stock. When my basket started to fill, she returned with an empty carriage! Though this level of service was completely unexpected, it very much appreciated. Thank you for making my day. :-) read more

I had the worst experience today. First of all, the restroom is so dirty. They had their toilet paper on the floor, no seat covers, broken toilet seat and no paper towels. If you need to go to the bathroom, go into the mall instead. I had a guy bring a frame up to the cash register because it was too big to fit in the shopping cart. When I got to the register the cashier was so rude. No eye contact and no customer service skills. I told her that someone brought up a frame for me and if she knew if it was up there. She would not listen to what I was telling her. She said, "so someone is already helping you." I tried to explain myself and she just said that I should check the other registers and proceeded to start ringing the next customer. Mind you, I had other items in my cart to buy. I could not believe it. I went to the next register and she too did not give me eye contact and asked me to go check the other register. They all have a head set and can communicate with each other and ask if there was a frame on hold. Unbelievable. I will go to other crafts stores such as Ben Franklin or Jo Anne Fabrics from now on. read more

I just wanted to say that personnel in Bellevue location was not nice and usually very slow. So pity that instead of getting good advice and great supply you need to leave everything on the register and walk away. Highly dissapointed with the way some of the employees treat the customers. Instead of helping with coupons in electronic form (they claim to accept) they will laugh about your phone because it is not downloading their page properly. Does not make sence to me. Don't have a wish to go there again. read more

Took more classes from this store and am hooked to say the least! I took cake decorating from Dana which I got a parttime job over at TopFoods from that she helped me get , thanks and now Im taking scrapbooking and just hooked! I took some jewlery classes from Annette but she is not longer there, she had more patience. I do wish Micheals would take Joannes coupons like they used to but they dont and that is my problem with the store now is that they are tooooo picky on their coupons. Joannes takes ALL coupons so I do my shopping there now for my classes at Michaels. It was too much of an issue all the time at the register. Sorry. read more
