Mia's is spectacular. I have had many calzones between West Texas and the East coast, and the East Coast calzones are by and large the best. The absolute closest you're going to get to a flavored and textured East Coast calzone is here at Mia's! They're ham and ricotta calzone is just like something you would order at a mom-and-pop shop in Pennsylvania or New York, and it's incredible! Both the calzone and a stromboli are generously filled cooked with a wonderful crunchy and well flavored yeast-based dough and crust with a light coating of a delicate butter garlic. These both came out piping hot! The cheese sticks were well sized and generously portion, but the bruschetta is by and large an absolute star of their appetizer menu. Generous amounts of tomato basil and onion with a olive oil and balsamic dressing. You could absolutely make that a meal on its own! I have not had a cannoli just yet, because I am quite in love with their chocolate mousse cake! A fair slice, very rich yet very light. On my next visit I plan on getting pasta and the cannoli!! All the staff were incredibly prompt, incredibly kind and stayed on top of any refills or extra needs. The food came out with great rapidity and we're all hot and accurate. Seating in here is very comfortable and open air. It is such a bright spot for Italian food in the middle of West texas, you absolutely should make the drive to Mia's! read more

This place is where the old Walmart use to be in Plainview. It's actually pretty hidden, but there's lots of parking available! There weren't many workers at the time we went, we got there around 11:30 on a Sunday. We were seated pretty quickly. Our server was great! The food quality was wonderful, this was a very good experience, the atmosphere was great, it was quiet, and it seems to draw more of an older crowd. The food portions look small but believe me it's definitely a lot. You pay upfront at the desk when you're done, I'm so glad we found this place, we will def. be back. read more

Inside is much nicer than I anticipated. Great service, was not busy and only one gal working, but she did not sit everyone in one section. Service was great and each table had its plenty of privacy. We have not met the eponymous Mia, but we can guess from our experience that one of her defining characteristics is generosity. Mia's medium puzza dimensions are large as defined by the major national pizza chains. Mia's topping portion and distribution also shame those big chains for their miserly ways. There is a tongue-in-cheek remark to be made here about things being bigger in Texas, except the prices were not. Generally when we see such expanded portions at prices equivalent to the skimpier chain portions, we anticipate a commiserate reduction of quality, but that is not Mia's case. The cheese and veg we opted for on our 2 pies tasted top quality, and Mia's offered options we just can't get at chain establishments. Plus, the calamari fritti appetizer we got was nearly a meal even before we broke into the pies, and super tasty to boot! All-in-all what we expected to feed 2 of us for 2 meals fed us for 6, and stayed tasty as leftovers. We wish we lived closer so we could become regulars, but should we road-trip through the area again, we will bee-line for Mia's. read more

Just looks like your average strip mall eatery but wow! We had the garlic cheese bread, fried calamari, a custom pepperoni pizza and a margharita pizza and it was all AMAZING. Great service, great food and good prices and definitely the best Italian food between Lubbock and Amarillo. When you are looking for someplace quiet to enjoy great Italian food this is your place. Tonight we had Chicken Piccata, Lobster Ravioli and Mia's Special Roll. I think the Mia's Special Roll is fantastic and a great value that is loaded with excellent Italian Sausage that really taste like Italians Sausage should. The Chicken Piccata has a great light lemony flavor. The Lobster Ravioli was good also! Look forward to eating here every time we are near Plainview! Every time I go there it's always the best. Who would have thought that such a great Italian food place would be in such a small town. Don't be afraid to ask for take away boxes. You people who think this is "great Italian food" need to get out of the Panhandle!!! I don't dispute that the food is fresh, but authentic Italian???? NO!!!! The Bruschetta is served on a French bread loaf and while this was pretty tasty, I've never ever ever had onion in my bruschetta. Then came salads. What they call Caesar dressing is not even a little Caesar, now mind you most places in Texas miss the mark on the Caesar a little because true Caesar isn't creamy, BUT it DEFINITELY isn't red with a tomato base!!! GROSS!!! Next came the "Veal Marsala" this is in quotes because Round steak beat out with lots of fat isn't veal and there wasn't a hint of Marsala wine in that sauce, hence the Marsala!!! The butter noodles they served with it were good though. Those of you complaining about the service...:.well let me tell you, the service was the best part of this meal. That's why they got 3 Stars. Our waiter was super friendly and very helpful. He kept our drinks refilled and checked on us to make sure things were good....we lied. In the area for the day and was hungry for local homemade pizza. We hit the jackpot with Mia's Pizzeria & Restaurant. We were in there for a late lunch, we were immediately greeted and given our choice of seats, as they were not busy as it was after the lunch rush. We were given hot homemade rolls that were to die for. Decided to order the Supreme Pizza in a large. Upon first taste I knew it was authentic and homemade. The crust was light and the edges were puffed and crispy just the way pizza should be. They didn't scrimp on the toppings, as the chains do, it was loaded with mushrooms, black olives, green olives, pepperoni, Canadian bacon just to mention a few. The staff was very friendly. The manager even gave me a recommendation for a waling trail not too far from them. Entire staff is super friendly. If ever back in the area we will defiantly stop again. read more

Gave three stars for food - definitely good, but as I've said before, it's isn't just the food that makes the impression and these guys really need to get their act together if they hope to survive. The owner was making every effort to please, and that can certainly be appreciated. The waitress was very inexperienced and had not received much training. Service was slow and clumsy. That should improve with time. The greatest need for improvement is in the wine service. Neither our waiter nor those I saw serving other tables knew how to serve wine. They brought the wine to the table already opened and proceeded to pour. So, if the owner happens to read this post, here is my suggestion for wine service: 1. Server presents the bottle of wine to the table UNOPENED and asks who will approve the wine. 2. The server uncorks the bottle at the table and hands the cork to the person who will approve. 3. The waiter pours a small portion of wine into the approver's glass and allows the approver to assess the wine-swirl it, smell it, taste it, etc. 4. If given the nod of approval on the bottle, the server then pours SMALL servings-about 1/4 to 1/3 of the glass- for all who will be partaking. 5. The bottle will most likely not be empty, so it remains at the table. 6. The server may return later and offer to refill some of the glasses but, again, don't pour the glass more than 1/3 to 1/4 full. Wine is new to Plainview restaurants and Mia's is the only restaurant I've seen there that has the capacity to become a go-to dinner spot without joining the Country Club or the Elks Club. We found this place on Yelp coming through Plainview. It was 10 minutes until close when we got there. Having worked in the restaurant business I know how annoying it is when people come in last minute, so we apologized several times for coming in late. The waitress was so sweet and friendly and they told us not to apologize, they were happy to serve us. The food was pretty good. Kid portions are big. I paid 11$ for sausage stuffed ravioli that was as good as the best I've ever eaten, added a meat sauce on top that was delicious and I didn't have a chance at eating desert, and at 235 I'm not a petite eater :). The Greek salad had no oil and vinegar, it was just dry salad, green olives, black olives, two slices of pickled cucumbers, three pieces of onion, and shredded mozzarella. The fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was horrible. The Alfredo sauce tasted exactly like white country gravy. There were no seasonings at all. In my life, I've been blessed enough to have been invited to dinner cooked by actual Sicilian ladies on three separate occasions. If those ladies were to visit me in Plainview, I would invite them to dinner at Mia's. The service is excellent and I can't compliment the food enough. My family and I love this place.
