I have lived in Plainview for about two years now, and am wondering why it took so long for me to try this place out! Plenty of parking because this is in a plaza. Great environment, especially for families! A lot of things to choose from, it looks small on the outside but when you go in, it's actually very big! We came in and got seated immediately, the hostess was great and very attentive. Our server was super sweet, I don't remember her name but she was very helpful with answering questions we had about the menu options. I got a chicken fajita burrito, with beans and cheese. The burrito was about the same size as my plate! And was not expensive at all! Our food was perfect and we will definitely be back here soon. read more

We came here on our way through town and ordered Fajitas. When received there was little meat on the fajitas. The chips and salsa was okay and the service was good. I'll try a different place next time because this one was very unremarkable. read more

The Tacos a la Mexicana tortilla were soaked in oil, for absolutely no reason. The tortillas weren't even fried nor crispy, they added oil to the tortillas just because I guess ? There was barely any meat in the tortillas same with tomato and onions that it was supposed to come with . The yellow rice also just tasted like a cheaper version of yellow rice in a bag that you can find at a store , same with the refried beans, tasted like it came from a can but the can at least has some seasoning and flavor . The fries also had no taste at all like not even a tiny bit of salt just nothingness. We ordered orange juice but it was more like water that was colored orange . Wouldn't recommend this place unless you're super drunk or don't care about your taste buds . read more

Fakest white person Mexican I've ever had the misfortune to taste. Salsa was more like tomato soup than salsa. Tamale tasted like dog food and I spit out the one bite I tried. Flautist weren't bad, nor was the queso but the rest of the food was awful and truly some of the worst Mexican I've ever had. The only bright spot was the margarita which was pretty good. HOWEVER! I'm they fraudulently added extra to the tip (which was already 20 percent) so make sure you watch you bill carefully after eating here. Decided to try this place today.. the outside definitely doesn't do it justice! It was big, clean and awesome on the inside. I sat at the bar and was promptly greeted by the bartender. I was so excited cause we love some Leal's especially in Muleshoe but we was in town and wanted it and wanted to try it but what a joke.... if I'm paying $10 and up per plate that's what I expect is some good food and quality of it. But our fajitas nachos were a joke I mean come on lol no chicken or what so ever we should've got a half price deal on those lol and then the brisket tacos were a joke literally 2 that probably had a spoonful of brisket spread out in them lol.... now the sour cream enchilada plate was the bomb omg so good. The Chiles Rellenos plate was awesome also maybe a little dry but it was still good. Hot sauce was awesome and queso was ok. In summary, most everything was average about this place but a solid choice when nothing else is open (like Sunday mornings before noon). The Service: Service was probably the best aspect of my experience here. The waitress was prompt and courteous. The Food: Order: #3 Two Tacos/Two Enchiladas: The food was okay. It definitely has a sense of authenticity and I did eat the entire plate and enjoyed it. Atmosphere: Nothing overly surprising and typical. Some TVs going in the background and in some rooms that seemed more like a 'sports bar' then a family oriented restaurant. It was great to see that the crowd was so diverse for such a small west Texas town. The Price: $$ - A little pricey to be honest. Two platters (that did not already include rice and beans but could be ordered for extra) and 2 teas/sodas were a little over $25 before tip. This averages to more than $13 a meal/person. Oh my goodness!! We were in town for a basketball tournament and I'm so glad we gave Leal's a try. The hostess greeted us immediately and was very friendly. Our server, Alicia was attentive, kind, and friendly. I'm pretty picky about Mexican food (El Paso native). The chips are freshly made and delicious. The salsa was so good. I think chips and salsa tells you a lot about a restaurant! I had the Tampico (two enchiladas and a taco) and my husband had the Pollo Cilantro. My food was so good. I chose the green chicken enchiladas and they ridiculously good. The taco was perfect! Another review mentioned beans and rice being not great but mine were very flavorful. What a nice place with such nice people. The server named RJ we had was really really nice. We came in on Sunday during a huge rush and they were quick and delicious. Went in for dinner. Sat us down in 10 minutes was about the best thing that happened the night. Waiter walked by after sat down to finally get our drink order next time he came by was to bring food. The food was very cold, wife had nachos and I had enchilada. Hard to mess up but yup it was. Nachos were cold and hard cheese and chips were chewy. Enchiladas were cold and tasted very greasy. We would tell our server thank you on many occasions and never got a response from her, almost felt like she didn't wanna be there. We ordered the enchiladas since it was the lunch special. Tortillas were hard, sauce tasted like it was from a can. Rice tasted like it wasn't cooked al the way through. And the chips and salsa, complete disappointment. Leal's can get crowded at lunch so I would suggest coming a bit early or a bit late; eaither way, you're sure to find a friendly waiter and some good food. The food taste great if it came to the table hot!!! Young waitress do not leave good impressions when they let food sit there and get cold. Even the appetizer came to the table cold. Know the menu you are serving from before you go to a table and ask what people want if you can't answer questions about the food. Had to wait 10 minutes for a drink refill after asking.
