Super friendly, makes awesome drinks, and always takes great care of everyone at the bar. The whole place has a fun, laid-back vibe, which is why I keep coming back. And flies are buzzing around everywhere. I order and while ordering I say, "Hey what can be done about these flies to keep them away from me and off my food when it arrives". The answer, "that's because it's summer and we leave our door open, we have a salt gun but we can't use it when customers are here." "So... what is done to keep flies under control and away from my food?" I look around and see no deterrents hanging or placed, nothing. I just received a phone emoji worthy white man shrugging face. This place doesn't even have a fly swatter or flip flop from an angry Mom. The Sweet and Spicy burger arrives. It was good enough. Just so that you know FIFA WC soccer was on. Ivory Coast was up on Curaçao 2-0 and Germany was tied up with Ecuador 1-1 in a close and better elimination game. The audio for the bar was for the CIV v CUW. I was interested in the Germany v Ecuador game so I asked, "can we get the audio to the GvE game?" "No, those two ladies (only two other patrons in the bar) are watching the game being played/heard.". "No problem", I say. Meanwhile the women are talking super fast and weren't even taking breathes enough to hear the broadcast nor looking at the TVs. In my head I thought, man I don't write reviews often but this would be an epic one star. But decided chill out, and not. I finish my burger and beer and about with :15 mins left in the match the bartender changes the audio (to GvE) which is met with applause by the women, and an inner smile by me. Ecuador scores almost instantly as they pound on the table and stand on their stools, as if they were on Bourbon Street and things could get very interesting. Hmmm, I think to myself. These damn women are Ecuadorian. So what's with thinking they were Curaçaoian? Or am I to believe they didn't give two about looking at the Curaçao game and suddenly became super fans when the Ecuador game was turned on audio. Honestly. Did he miss the mark that much? Sure did. Anywho, the check arrives at the burger menu priced at $13 comes up as $13.83 and the pints are also like $9.odd amount like $9.81 or something. The total is $33.blah blah. I hand over my card but ask, "what's with the strange pricing? The menu says $8 for each item." "Oh let me check...oh yeah it because the menu lists cash prices and so if you pay cash, you get that price, if not you pay this price." WTH!!! Maybe that's listed on the menu. But a 10% service charge on beer to cover a what 3-4% Visa fee. Man, please be overcharging to buy some fly swatters or hanging stank away bags. So yeah, 1-star. Just skip this place and go sit on a Port-a-potty instead.

I like…read moretrying chili burgers because not only are they one of my favorites but I get to see how they make their chili and patty at the same time. Is it homemade chili? Homemade patty and seasoned? Soggy bun or toasted? There was a spot in the front to get a carhop so I parked. It didn't take long before a young girl came to ask for my order. Nothing else seemed that appetizing besides the chili burger anyway so I ordered that. "Mexican food" consisted of nachos. Only after the fact did I see onions rings but thought the burger was enough. No prices on the menu which made me suspicious but how much would a sort of fast food/diner cost me? Didn't expect to pay over $8 but yep. Quite a lot. The burger was only okay. Nothing unique. Nothing to write home about at all. The chili was only slightly different from a Sonic chili burger and honestly, Sonic has more flavor in theirs sadly. I wasn't offered any options for the chili burger and none listed on the menu. Chili burger is what the menu says and that's what you get. No option for onions or grilled onions or anything else. It's definitely not worth $8. Maaaaaybe $4-6 and $6 being generous. $8 should come with fries at least. Basic flavor. Basic presentation. Then you're most likely feeling the need to tip on top of that. The parking area was at least clean. People coming and going makes you think it's a popular spot but makes me wonder if there's better places to go even if I had to walk inside. Great place to pick up food for the kids, grandparents or a quick bite but don't expect much if you want flavor. You pay more than what you get.

Not seeing any other parking, I inadvertently parked in the 'Car Hop' section and quickly got a friendly lady to take our order. We had planned on going in.. but hey maybe this would be faster and get us back on the road. That was not the case. It took a really long time for couple of burgers to come out. I could not see a menu or what selections. So, we asked for the 'standard' cheeseburger and fries. When she did return with burgers, they were hot and the order correct. Not the best burgers with a over toasted bun and fairly dry meat... but it was dinner of sorts. The fries were to the usual fast food pre-cooked frozen fries. Nothing to write home about. The service; the car hop was friendly and pleasant. Ambiance; I did go in to use the restroom and over all, I would say Holly's has not had an upgrade since the 1990's. So, ambiance is leftover American Graffiti. With lots of wear and tear. Still worth a stop for nostalgia.

If you are looking for white tablecloths, subtle lighting, or a quiet place to whisper sweet…read morenothings, keep driving past Coyote Bluff Cafe (often locally called the "Coyote Bluu" or simply "The Bluff") in Amarillo, Texas. But if your idea of culinary heaven involves a grease-stained paper liner, an old-school Texas roadhouse vibe, and a burger that requires structural support, you have arrived at the right place. Nestled just a few blocks off Interstate 40 in a historic, diminutive former dance hall moved wholesale from neighboring Claude, Texas, Coyote Bluff is tiny. With only about 12 tables packed into its 1,000 square feet, the atmosphere is alive with a loud, friendly hum, a dirt parking lot, and a vintage bathtub floating full of ice and cold beer bottles. The place is amazing!!!! The unique steaming process is really amazing. You have to try the chili cheese fries to go with it. The menu keeps its focus tight, centering around half-pound patties of lean Texas ground beef cooked to order. While traditional options like the Hickory Burger and the Green Chili Cheese Burger are stellar, the undisputed heavyweight titleholder here is the legendary Burger from Hell. I had to try it, my wife opted for the Chicken Fried Steak. Many approach the "Hell Burger" with great trepidation, expecting it to be more of a gimmick built strictly on painful, mouth-numbing heat. Instead, it offers a beautifully layered flavor profile. The beef patty with Tabasco and their proprietary "Coyote Hell Sauce," then smothers it in gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, and fresh, vibrant sautéed jalapeños. It arrived on a toasted onion bun, it lands a solid 7 out of 10 on the heat scale. But rather than scorching your palate, it wraps it in a vinegary, spicy, deeply savory warmth. This place also serves up classic, heavy-hitting Texas roadhouse appetizers: Each of these are amazing sides and are worth of mentioning, First the Cheese Fries with Green Chiles, which I had with my burger and my wife had with her Chicken fried steak, it is served on a massive aluminum platter, these fresh-cut fries are heavily blanketed in melted cheese and mild green chiles. They are a mandatory companion to the burgers.  Other appetizers worth of note, are the Texas Red Chili & Green Chili Stew: The thick, hearty green chili stew is packed with meat and mild green peppers, offering a wonderful warming comfort, especially during cool Panhandle days.  and any of the Fried options ranging from baskets of battered fried pickles, garlic mushrooms, and stuffed jalapeños. Because everything is cooked to order and the dining room is incredibly compact, expect a wait during lunch rushes or weekends. However, that time spent waiting in the dirt lot among locals and passing road-trippers is part of the charm. Coyote Bluff Cafe doesn't try to be anything other than a spectacular, small-town Texas burger joint, and it executes that identity flawlessly. This is a MUST Stop in Texas
