Since it is a sandwich spot we ordered sandwiches. All 3 of us got a combo (chips and a drink). Our review of the sandwiches was mixed. My husband loved his Rueben. My daughter and thought our sandwiches were just ok. I had a meatball sub-it was huge-the bread was very big. The sauce and meatballs were just ok to me. My daughter had the Buddy Holly Blvd and she also said it was just ok-fine, but nothing special. I had lemonade from the fountain and it was very watered down-almost no flavor. Our bill for 3 sandwich w/chips and drink combo was $57, which I thought was a bit expensive for lunch. But it was a good experience due to the staff being so friendly!

However once you get inside it's anyone's guess as to what is available for both food and drink. Today on a Saturday morning a couple walked in and walked back out. I went in after them and asked the lady at the counter what happened. They wanted coffee and she didn't make any because she said she had only had one customer. No point in making a full pot. Interesting logic. The only food was what was in the glass case. Donuts, kolache (only one kind a giant pig in a blanket), and croissant sandwich with eggs, cheese and options for meat - as long as it's in the case. Not a flaky croissant because it's in plastic wrap. Good thing is that she heated up the sandwich and kolache. Not sure this place will be around long so if you like donuts it might be a good option for you. Not sure about the coffee. You take your chance on that.

Dairy Queen and I go way back. I'm talking back to a time when Velcro Fastback sneakers, in your…read morechoice of navy or grey, were all the rage. I have never understood what I perceive as lack of popularity that accompanies this chain. It's fast food and I have no misconception of that fact. It is however in my opinion, good considering the category and in an upper tier among the fast food ranks. Whether it be the chicken strips or a burger, both are above average for fast food in my opinion. Let's also not forget that this is the home of the Blizzard, a forerunner and leader in this category. McFlurry McSlurry; no contest for the Blizzard. On this particular visit, I went with my usual standby, the five piece chicken strip basket. The chicken, while not life changing, is good and especially when accompanied with the gravy. Add in the Texas toast and a side of crispy fries and you have a meal that's pretty decent considering the category. This particular location is old. It was probably old the first time I walked in here wearing a pair of Velcro Fastbacks. It has been well maintained and more importantly is clean. The service, as with most DQ's in my experience, was a little slow, but not bad. Whether it's for a quick meal or a roadside stop for ice cream, Dairy Queen has always been a one of my preferred options.

Homemade patty and seasoned? Soggy bun or toasted? There was a spot in the front to get a carhop so I parked. It didn't take long before a young girl came to ask for my order. Nothing else seemed that appetizing besides the chili burger anyway so I ordered that. "Mexican food" consisted of nachos. Only after the fact did I see onions rings but thought the burger was enough. No prices on the menu which made me suspicious but how much would a sort of fast food/diner cost me? Didn't expect to pay over $8 but yep. Quite a lot. The burger was only okay. Nothing unique. Nothing to write home about at all. The chili was only slightly different from a Sonic chili burger and honestly, Sonic has more flavor in theirs sadly. I wasn't offered any options for the chili burger and none listed on the menu. Chili burger is what the menu says and that's what you get. No option for onions or grilled onions or anything else. It's definitely not worth $8. Maaaaaybe $4-6 and $6 being generous. $8 should come with fries at least. Basic flavor. Basic presentation. Then you're most likely feeling the need to tip on top of that. The parking area was at least clean. People coming and going makes you think it's a popular spot but makes me wonder if there's better places to go even if I had to walk inside. Great place to pick up food for the kids, grandparents or a quick bite but don't expect much if you want flavor. You pay more than what you get.
