We stopped by after a day at Caprock Canyon and got the the breakfast burger and the avocado peppered bacon burger with tater tots. It was delicious! The burgers are really tasty and ambiance is charming. In the women's bathroom they have sugar scrubs and lotion for your hands. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The food was delicious, and extremely appetizing. The server,Orion, was helpful and sweet. Had a pretty atmosphere and was calm and lovely.

    Banana Pudding... homemade.... Delectable!

I brought my parents here for Sunday lunch, and it was wonderful. The food is amazing (I had a salad with grilled chicken, strawberries, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. The salad was huge! The finale: free dessert! Banana pudding, strawberry shortcake and chocolate chip cookies, doughnuts. I need a nap. :)

Dining room super clean, we hit it just right at opening, people started pouring in

Wow!! Completely unsuspecting, hidden gem, tucked away on the corner of town. We only pulled over because of previous reviews. Glad we did! This place exceeded every expectation. Fresh food from scratch -- menu and daily specials very creative and tempting, hard to choose! Everything we ordered was impressive and very tasty. Service was incredibly warm and sincere. Restrooms and dining area super clean. We got take out soft drinks for the long drive back and the sodas were huge! I would drive miles out of the way for this place -- well worth it! Prices low, portions generous. Open 11-3, 6-8pm -- fortunately we hit it at just the right time. They were open New Year's Day!

We spent half our day at Caprock Canyon State Park and decided to stop here on our way out and glad we did! Very pleased with the service, food, drinks, gift shop, and even the tidiness and charm in the bathrooms! The restaurant has detailed decor and beautiful canvas and oil paintings on the walls. Each table sitting had its own placemat and coaster with individualized messages. There are so many choices on the menu too!! The waitresses were very attentive and nice. Thank you!!

Heap of onion Burger!! It was amazing!

A wonderful little place close to Cap Rock Canyons. It's a must if visiting! I had the Avocado bacon cheeseburger which was excellent! The loaded chili fries were amazing as well!

If you are staying or hiking at Caprock Canyon State Park this is a great stop for lunch. Super nice service and food was really good.

As we pulled in, the parking lot was 90% massive trucks. As we walked through the doors, 90% cowboy hat-adorned patrons stared at us. It was intimating but I hoped they wouldn't bite. Our server was super friendly and put us at ease. Much to my disappointment, they only serve breakfast before 11 and this was around noon, so I wouldn't be able to try the texas waffle. I went with my back up, grilled cheese and couldn't resist the fried biscuit on the menu so added that to the tab. GF ordered the fried steak sandwich. This was obviously the lunch rush and that became very apparent. It took almost an hour for our food to come out and that really fucked us with the timing of our day. When the food did come, it was delicious. My grilled cheese was served on two thiccc slices of bread with melty american cheese. I would have preferred if the bread was toasted even a little bit. The sandwich was served with ridged chips. Regarding the fried steak sandwich, GF reports "it was heavy but tasty, not what I usually eat". She received tots on the side which were the crispiest tots I have ever had. I don't have words for the fried biscuit. It was out of this world. I can't do it justice by describing it. It was ORGASMIC. I'm glad I probably won't have the opportunity to eat this again because that shit is DANGEROUS. Food was very solid, service excellent, wait was a challenge.

Our ribeye was amazing, marinated in spices and cooked to perfection. We chose the two included sides and ours were a loaded baked potato and string beans. Because we shared the 12 Oz steak, we added a side and chose grilled zucchini. All were grilled in real butter, except of course, the potato. And even though our amazing, cheerful server, Joey, assured us real butter in the grilling, the loaded potato's condiments were real sour cream, real bacon bits, chives and for some mysterious reason little butter/looking tubs of dreaded "vegetable" oil. When we mentioned this to Joey, she shared our surprise and immediately offered to replace the whole side, which we declined, simply scraping off the fluffy yellow, heart-damaging, pretend oil. Joey even checked with the chef before we had to ask about dessert options and was happy to report safe choices were all butter coconut cake and vanilla ice cream. We're not trying to be difficult, just healthy. And with servers like Joey, there's hope that people are becoming aware. In any case, with the exceptions mentioned, a good steakhouse like Mesquite Canyon is always a good bet for the health conscious. The restaurant isn't fancy, has a sunny back area for dining away from the darker bar area, and even offers some tasty local beer.
