Traveling through to Dallas going to stay the night at the Old Towne RV Cotton Gin. Saw the reviews on this place decided to give it a try. We were very pleased. Easy pull into he large parking lot for our Motorhome & trailer. Staff were quick to take our order & helpful with answers to our questions. I had the Chicken fried steak with baked potato. Wife had the pork chop plate. Seasoning of the CFS was perfect. Pork chop was tender & delicious. Both were very good. Seating area was large, fun history on walls, good ambiance to eat in. We eat here because it's the only decent place between Wichita Falls and Amarillo. It's always had good service and great food. It's a local gathering place, too, with a nice atmosphere. When you walk in your greeted with a display case of pies. I couldn't wait to order coconut cream pie for my appetizer. That was the right move, and I had all you can eat catfish as my entrée. They only had another table of costumers when we arrived and they was already eating so we was a bit confused as to why it took forever for a waitress to show up. We ordered and waited and waited and I pulled that old truck of "I'll go to the bathroom so the food will arrive" and it did The menu said their country fried steak is what made them famous, we have to disagree. It was very tough and soaked with grease. The fries also drenched with grease and cold. I didn't even bother with the salad at that point. The waitress was very sweet and the inside was very clean. This is the second time we have stopped here as we passed Memphis. The first time it was dinner today it was lunch. We ordered the green chili burger which came with fries and the chicken salad on sourdough bread. My husband enjoyed his chicken salad my burger was basic but tasty. The fries were limp like noodles instead of fries. Not much to enjoy there. So if you stop be prepared to "sit a spell" they don't tend to be fast and a lot of locals eat there. Driving through we stopped for breakfast. We both chose Papa's breakfast. $6.95 for two eggs, hash browns, toast and choice of bacon, ham or sausage patties. The toast was grilled, but could have used more butter and the hash browns could have been crispier but otherwise a delicious meal. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Do not waste your money on this garbage. I would have given 0/5 if I could. Although it was almost empty, the restaurant was very LOUD. One customer was chasing her two children around the room as they screamed, and no staff said anything. The tables and bench seats at the booths are cold metal, which made sitting there very uncomfortable, especially because the building was also cold. The weather was in the low 50's outside, despite the weather being cold and rainy, the restaurant was frigid. The menu is fairly small, and all the items are fairly similar. The bathroom was dirty. The waitress brought out our food and I saw her BARE hands touch both my salad, and my steak (separate plates) because of the way she held the plate. Gross. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, which was the ribeye, and it was completely inedible. I took 2 bites before completely giving up. I'm the polar opposite of a picky eater, if I give a restaurant a bad review, it's generally based on service, cleanliness, or prices. I'm not picky about food, so I almost never review based on food quality, as I'm not the best judge of bad food. I don't even bother sending food back if it comes out wrong, because I'm usually fine with it regardless. I cannot emphasize enough this was the worst meal I've had in my life, and that's including the time I got food poisoning from a Mexican restaurant. At least the Mexican place managed to make the food edible. The waitress asked how our food was, so we first told her everything we liked and what was good, then I told her my steak was terrible and I only took 2 bites. The intention of putting the positives first was to be polite, and to recognize what they did well, but she didn't seem to care what we said positive or negative. One of my biggest pet peeves in any restaurant is service! Not once was I asked if I needed a refill of my tea. Both "waitresses" walked by my table twice. And the tragedy amongst all of this is We are in Texas and I ordered a Hamburger Steak with a baked Potato, I received no roll, slice of Texas Toast, or anything like. We were on our way back to Dallas from Breckinridge having stopped overnight to see Alamogordo Canyon. It was Sunday and we wanted a good hearty meal. It can be a challenge finding a decent place to eat when driving between DFW and Amarillo especially on a Sunday. This place in Memphis was a find. Breakfast all day long or selections for lunch or dinner. I had grilled chicken strips with a small side bowl of thick, delicious brown gravy. Decent side salad. Perfect French fries with skin. If your headed to Dallas or going the other way via Amarillo to Colorado this is a wonderful restaurant for a stop. They have great service and food and the wait staff is always super nice and accommodating. Love their breakfasts; everything tastes from scratch, home cooked, a family owned business. Texas Tech decor is also fun. So sad and sorry to hear owner passed of COVID couple of years back. Highly recommend and will always stop here when traveling through these parts! read more

Stopped in on the way back to DFW from Colorado on spring break. We went with another reviewer's recommendation and had a bacon cheeseburger and the steak fingers. The cheeseburger was perfectly done and delicious and the steak fingers were crispy and hot served with a delicious cream gravy. The only points off were due the French fries. Stopped by here on the way south. Saw plenty of cars in the lot (good sign) and went on in. They had a brunch special with fried chicken, bbq chicken, and a few other items for $13. Good deal. Fried chicken was good. Ate several pieces. BBQ chicken was in sauce but dry. Not bad but not as good as the other chicken. The sides were all ok salad bar kind of stuff. They had cobbler and pie for a bit extra. Both were ok but the pie probably wasn't worth the extra. Plenty of room inside and the waitress was friendly and reasonably attentive for a buffet. There was a large group close to us ordering off the menu and that took up more of her time. Can't speak for the rest of the menu but the buffet was a great value with good friend chicken in particular. read more
