This little dinner/drive-thru is very casual. It's gives old-time vibes. Has 3 benches in the covered outdoor patio and inside more seats. We sat outside because we have a dog with us. Parking is plentiful, quite a few spots heavily shaded thanks to the big trees framing the lot. We ordered the fish & shrimp plate and a fish sandwich. A large coke to share. Our food took a while to arrive but we know it's freshly made cause of fried fish and shrimp were hot and crisp. Nice job! Come here if you're craving good fried catfish. read more

Mine was cooked medium - didn't ask if they would do medium rare. Generous lettuce & tomato, & less onion & pickle doesn't overpower the savory umami flavor from the Maillard reaction. Fried catfish with cornmeal coating was perfectly cooked. Moist fish completely done, to the edge of crispness. French fries were the thicker hand cut kind you don't get at chains - crisp enough that only the longer ones are a bit limp, but still soft inside. Not crowded at 4 pm, but doing a steady take-out business. Free refills on drinks. Drive up window & inside seating. 50's era drive-in, with original terrazzo floor. The onion rings were very good, but cold when we got them - my only complaint. Daughters got the chicken sandwich (great!) and "steak fingers" - strips of chicken fried steak with side of bread and white gravy. Kudos for having an option like this on the menu. My daughter didn't think they had much flavor with our without the white gravy and didn't want to try ketchup. We stopped for a bacon cheeseburger on our way back from a week long camping trip & what a "welcome back to Texas" we had! The burgers are well seasoned and cooked. The fries & onion rings are some of the best I have had. The batter on the rings is crisp, but not overwhelming, keeping their structure with every bite. We all really enjoyed our meals at JTs Drive-In. Their BBQ brisket burger was tasty, and their onion rings were nicely fried and breaded. Hungry for a burger since I saw a sign for burgers in Wellington, TX but it was too early for lunch. Figured next logical stop was Childress, went looking at the offerings. If this didn't work out, had a second stop in mind -- we're pulling an 18' trailer thus parking is key to our stopping by. Parking was fine, we walked in about 1pm CTZ. Read through the board of offerings (the menu) above the "ordering" counter. Husband ordered cheeseburger with no vegetables (sans lettuce, tomato, onions and pickle), add mayo subtract mustard. I ordered the hamburger --with all the veggies. I then asked about the fries and onion rings, both are frozen that they then cook. They were good, but I'd sure like some fresh onion rings -- the fries are easier to fry from frozen. I would'a been glad to see friend sweet potato fries too. Air fryer? Drinks are sodas and iced tea (sweet or unsweetened) or water. Burgers were wrapped the old fashioned (nostalgia) way in red and white checkerboard paper. Buns were fresh, the burgers were real tasty, as were the fries and onion rings. Salt, Pepper and Ketchup/Castup was on the table. Before we left we visited the bathroom -- very clean with appropriate supplies and a sturdy lock on the door. In and out in less than an hour. read more

My companion and I had regular hamburgers and those were good. Tasty beef with fresh lettuce, onion, and tomato. The buns were your standard issue soft hamburger with no sesame seeds which is fine. The french fries were good. The real standout here is the pickle fries. These are dill pickles sliced into long strips, battered, and fried. Really tasty. The inside is fairly clean. Came out to Childress to do some hunting and a few of the people on the lease suggested we try out Jt's . Man we're they right, burgers were cooked perfect and juicy. Veggies were fresh with that melted cheese!!!! Frys were crispy and seasoned well. Catfish and shrimp was my go to. Corn mill batter and on a nice filet cubed up. We came in through the drive thru on our way driving through Texas. We were really craving Brisket and this seemed like the spot to go to. We got a Brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich with a fries and lemonade for $16.78 so great value for money. The drive through is a small cute window and the staff is super friendly and nice, they made us feel at home for sure.
