Great value for our dinner. We ordered the burrito deluxe special for $11 and had a couple cocktails, a side order of cheese and left at $50 I consider that value for your money. They did charge us for chips and salsa and we felt we should have been informed of that for full transparency.

we have become those people who come to the same restaurant two days in a row. mi tequila is consistently delicious. the service is fast and everyone is super friendly and helpful. the unique seating with mi tequila artwork sets the vibe. there's lots of space and the food is so tasty! would definitely recommend for a reliable petoskey meal

The food is delicious, with giant burritos and quick service. The overall experience is enhanced by great service.

DATE & TIME OF VISIT: Saturday, April 6, 2024 @ 7:00pm. They were not busy (6 tables of people). AMBIANCE & CLEANLINESS: We were seated at one of the high booth along the side. The interior was that of normal "Mexican" restaurants. Music wasn't too loud, so that was nice. HOSTESS & SERVER: The hostess was alright, not the friendliest (we did stand there for quite some time before anyone came over to seat us). Our server was a male and hard to understand (all the workers didn't speak very clear English), he was alright. He only checked on us once before giving us the bill. FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Chips and Salsa -- THEY ARE NOT FREE (and it's not free refills either!!!!). Chips looked and tasted like store bought but the salsa was good. We were surprised that you had to pay for chips and salsa and any refills, normally this is a freebie at these types of places! Price $1.50 (and then $1.00 for each refill of chips) and are a small basket! Combo #1 (beef taco, 2 beef enchiladas and your choice of rice OR beans) -- Taste, was meh, this didn't taste authentic reminded us of Taco Bell quality food. Size, small compared to other similar restaurants. Price $13, overpriced for the quality and size. Food was lukewarm when we got it. Combo # 5 (beef burrito, beef taco with beans and rice) -- Taste, again was meh. Burrito seemed like them use a taco shell to make it (was this a kids portion?!?!?!) Price $13. Again food was lukewarm. Chimichanga de la casa -- Taste, soggy not crispy like you expect from a chimichanga and the flavors were bland and a bit "funky". Was highly disappointed with this. Served with rice. Price $17. Food was lukewarm. Burritos Texanos -- Taste, was meh, got a lot of peppers so it was a bit much for the small amount of protein. Served with rice. Price $17. Food was lukewarm. OVERALL THOUGHTS: This is not true authentic Mexican food especially for the cost which was around $90 for the 4 meals. Food was lukewarm (at best) when we were served it. Not sure where all the high reviews come from unless they are from locals that don't travel to the southern part of Michigan and never tasted authentic Mexican cuisine and portion sizes! WOULD I RETURN? No and I would never recommend this place.

    the great mexican vibe ambiance!

Food was delicious it was very busy but the wait time for the food was short. The food was hot fresh tasty and full of flavor. I would also like to add that the salsa was probably the best I have ever had the chips were just ok tho

Crazy that this Mexican food eatery with a small yet delicious menu sits within a 42,000-square-foot building that formerly served as an equestrian center. Now it's an eatery inside several rooms - a part of the largest distillery in Michigan. The BIG room, on a colored, swirling and polished cement floor is decorated with couches, picnic tables, a large screen for videos and corn-hole boards and other games. My spouse and I ordered a quesadilla filled with chicken, avocado, peppers. onions and cheese ($16). YUM. Prepared on a 10-inch tortilla, it was served with limey-tasting sauce of sour cream in a tiny ramekin. We picked it up at the window in the long hallway on the side of the distillery and ate at a picnic table with our bottles of Mexican Coke and Lime Jarrito in the big hall. Although the price is a bit more than we usually spend for a top-notch quesadilla, we probably will return for fish (cod) taco $6.00. The only major drawback is the distance between the parking area and the restaurant and distillery. It's up a myriad of steep steps, although there is a drop-off area near the building for those who are physically impaired.

Outside the fray of downtown Petoskey, El Cilantro has a much more relaxed vibe. It's close to the state park and ideal for hungry campers or bikers riding from Petoskey to Harbor Springs. The server definitely gets five plus stars. Helpful, fun and attentive. We enjoyed the complementary chips and salsa while waiting for our food. Our shrimp tacos, which we shared, were enough for two or one very hungry person. They looked appealing, served in a casual "basket" plate. Though everything was fine and satisfying, we both felt there was a lack of seasoning that would have made our meal next-level. We are from Southern California and may have higher standards and more experience with Mexican cuisine than most. The level of flavoring and spice would surely appeal to the palate that does not crave much heat or traditional spices. As campers, we will definitely keep El Cilantro on our list to visit for future trips.

We found ourselves inside of Rodrigo's at capacity and there was a 20 minute wait so we settled for seats at the bar as we were needing to ingest some flavorful cuisine. As it turned out sitting at the bar was a very worthwhile experience. We ordered our drinks which were prepared with precision and care right in front of s as our appetizer was served. We opted for the Rodrigos Queso with beef smothered in delicious creamy Mexican queso along with lots of black pepper and a hint of jalapeno! ! Possibly the best I have ever had! I actually inquired how it was made. The staff were very fun and friendly and we were both equally impressed with out entrees. My friend has fajitas and i went right for a trio of tacos. Traditional soft traditional tacos with shrimp, carnitas and beef. Full of flavor. The tortillas as well as the chips were all made in house and were over the top. Going to a touristy destination in far north Michigan the skeptic in me did not expect quality Mexican food but was wrong. Rodrigo's far exceeded my expectations and was filling thus solving our hunger issues and we had a pretty good time as well. The positives- our friends loved their soup, beer was cold, margaritas $15 which again is pricey considering your charming $20-25/entree. I get inflation has hit us all but I doubt we will be back. I expected to bite in tasting a medley of flavors, but each bite was just okay. Maybe if I had a yeasty beverage or two before eating, it might help raise my opinion? TABLE SERVICE: Waitresses were prompt and helpful. BARTENDERS: Remember those honey badger YouTube videos (narrated by Randall) from 2011/12? That's what I think of when I read Yelper reviews from Brittany H. and Jay V. [in the voice of Randall]: *Mitchell Street bartenders don't care; they do what they want!* For example, when the popular 80s song, Your Love by the Outfield, came on, the 'tender on duty decided to turn it up to 11...and left it there for half the song. Locals seemed unfazed, but visitors got to the point they asked the waitress if they could turn it down. I'm guessing he didn't much care for the feedback, because he then played the song twice more. *If you're up for a rowdy atmosphere with an array of local beverages + solid bar food, I encourage you to step into this windowless venue!
