The hostess greeted me and the wait staff was minimal on interaction and there were 5 people standing by the door when I left and not a single person spoke to me. The wait staff didn't check to see how my food was while I was eating or ask how things were when I was done...instead just asked if I was all set. I still had a half of a margarita and queso and chips. The place was not busy...maybe 4 tables total with several servers. The overall appeal inside is nice and it appears to be clean. This place has potential, but for me if you can't get the basics greetings, pleasantries and a wait staff that checks on your food, I'm out. Oh and the margarita was your basic mix style...I really wish margaritas would be made to order rather than the mix that is so sweet to drink. Unfortunately I won't be back...but if anyone is curious the taquitos do not have chunks of onions in them.

In the past, I gave this restaurant five stars. The waiters are gorgeous and very polite. They kept…read morethe water coming. We had refills of chips that weren't charged to our bill. We had extra salsa that was not charged. All that was fine. The ambience is even fine. It's louder or Mexican music than what I appreciate but all that was good. The bathrooms were clean. The problem I had was that my chili rolinos we're tough and not done well. I've had better at other restaurants. It seems that I let it slide last time I was in and still gave it a great review and perhaps I should've told them to tell the chef but they were really tough and it seemed like the skin wasn't peeled or they weren't prepared properly. In fact, out of the three of us, no one was extremely pleased with their lunch.

Definitely a place to consider when you are in the mood for Mexican food. We stopped by on a Friday…read moreevening in June and were one of a handful of diners. Outside the fray of downtown Petoskey, El Cilantro has a much more relaxed vibe. It's close to the state park and ideal for hungry campers or bikers riding from Petoskey to Harbor Springs. The server definitely gets five plus stars. Helpful, fun and attentive. We enjoyed the complementary chips and salsa while waiting for our food. Our shrimp tacos, which we shared, were enough for two or one very hungry person. They looked appealing, served in a casual "basket" plate. Though everything was fine and satisfying, we both felt there was a lack of seasoning that would have made our meal next-level. We are from Southern California and may have higher standards and more experience with Mexican cuisine than most. The level of flavoring and spice would surely appeal to the palate that does not crave much heat or traditional spices. As campers, we will definitely keep El Cilantro on our list to visit for future trips.

The shrimp tacos were outstanding- best we've had! The Birrias were perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I also really loved their salsa - freshly made and you could tell. We used to visit this location years ago when it was Scallywags, and it felt a little nostalgic!

Rodrigo's - Great food! Portion size was more than enough for two people! Street tacos were great. Wonderful new addition!

I found Rodrigo's Tex-Mex online via a Google search. from home in Chicago. We had a long drive…read moreahead of us and we had been on the road for well over 8 hours. WE WERE VERY HUNGRY! We found ourselves inside of Rodrigo's at capacity and there was a 20 minute wait so we settled for seats at the bar as we were needing to ingest some flavorful cuisine. As it turned out sitting at the bar was a very worthwhile experience. We ordered our drinks which were prepared with precision and care right in front of s as our appetizer was served. We opted for the Rodrigos Queso with beef smothered in delicious creamy Mexican queso along with lots of black pepper and a hint of jalapeno! ! Possibly the best I have ever had! I actually inquired how it was made. The staff were very fun and friendly and we were both equally impressed with out entrees. My friend has fajitas and i went right for a trio of tacos. Traditional soft traditional tacos with shrimp, carnitas and beef. Full of flavor. The tortillas as well as the chips were all made in house and were over the top. Going to a touristy destination in far north Michigan the skeptic in me did not expect quality Mexican food but was wrong. Rodrigo's far exceeded my expectations and was filling thus solving our hunger issues and we had a pretty good time as well. Big thanks sand applause to the cooks and the staff at a wonderful and worthwhile dining experience.

I am giving an extra star because of the hard working people which was my exoerience. However $14…read morefor a barcardi and coke is outrageous and we felt violated which ruined our experience. Also fill up the first complimentary salsa bowl because then you charge for more when it's like 4 oz for two people? Charging for extra chips also a bit annoying if you're charging outrageous drink prices. The positives- our friends loved their soup, beer was cold, margaritas $15 which again is pricey considering your charming $20-25/entree. I get inflation has hit us all but I doubt we will be back. Red mesa in Boyne is closer, just as tasty or tastier and about 30% cheaper. Place is tiny. Couldn't move around the dining room but it was cute and themed

Let's be very clear--this is a local's place…read more FOOD: The portions are plentiful! I ordered cheese curds and a burger with fries...but in hindsight I should have skipped the fries. Curds were enough for a table of four. Overall taste of the food, however, is average. Despite being a good looking B&B Burger, the bacon was burnt and the burger itself didn't have much seasoning. I expected to bite in tasting a medley of flavors, but each bite was just okay. Maybe if I had a yeasty beverage or two before eating, it might help raise my opinion? TABLE SERVICE: Waitresses were prompt and helpful. BARTENDERS: Remember those honey badger YouTube videos (narrated by Randall) from 2011/12? That's what I think of when I read Yelper reviews from Brittany H. and Jay V. [in the voice of Randall]: *Mitchell Street bartenders don't care; they do what they want!* For example, when the popular 80s song, Your Love by the Outfield, came on, the 'tender on duty decided to turn it up to 11...and left it there for half the song. Locals seemed unfazed, but visitors got to the point they asked the waitress if they could turn it down. I'm guessing he didn't much care for the feedback, because he then played the song twice more. *If you're up for a rowdy atmosphere with an array of local beverages + solid bar food, I encourage you to step into this windowless venue! If you're looking for a nice, sit down meal and great tasting main dishes (OR you're allergic to peanuts)...best walk to Tap 30 next door.
