We needed somewhere to stop to eat on our road trip and found this food truck park! It has been difficult to always find really good vegetarian food in Michigan, but Happy's surprised me! They had two vegan tacos and they were SO GOOD! Everyone at the food truck was so friendly and helpful. I got both of the vegan tacos they offered. Their tacos were actually creative!! One of them had two tortillas: the inner one was fried with cheese! They also had a pepita crunch on one taco which was crispy quinoa and pepita seeds. Again, so good!!!! They also had meat based tacos too, so regardless of what you eat, you should come here! The taco shop is in a food truck park which is super cute and has tons of shaded seating, as well as bathrooms and a full bar. This is a great place to come with a big group of people because everyone can get what they want!

Unique tacos at The Back Lot! Friendly staff, relatively quick food, and great flavors. We had the chips and salsa before some tacos. I was trying a variety of food from the whole lot but loved my taco from Happys. We will definitely come back!

Located in a lively food truck park with plenty of options. The shrimp tacos were amazing--several people in our group said they were the best they've ever had.

Our favorite lunch spot in Petoskey! Every taco is amazing -- we especially love the smoked potato tacos! We love the Back Lot year round, Happy's is open even in the winter. Staff are great, and getting a draft beer with street tacos is the best.

Happy's is my favorite part of Petoskey. The staff are rad, and the food is even better. My favorite tacos are the smoked potato and chilaquiles - the griddled cheese tortillas are amazing (I ask for mine on corn). The best treat is if you're there for a corn tostada special. Really creative flavor and texture combinations, gluten free and vegan friendly, and just dang good.

Inside, a taco truck is in the corner and a bar is in the middle. There is also a really cool balcony area.

We came here looking for a good spot to eat. We were not disappointed. The flavor in their tacos is quite excellent. They know how to put the appropriate sweet and spices combo so that you have extreme flavor but it doesn't stimulate your senses in a painful way. I ordered two regular tacos with the lamb meat, which was very good and two others that I was dining with ordered some with shrimp and a different one with lamb as well. They would not stop complementing them after they ate so I know they enjoyed their meal. My only complaint is that they were kind of expensive. They were probably normal size but smaller tacos and they each cost way over $5 per taco. So it wasn't the worst that we weren't very hungry when we got there because I could have probably spent like close to $100 there by my self if I came in ready to bash. The place was a super cool place. We came in the winter so probably worst time of year to check this place out, but it was super cool the bar was nice the taco trucks were so cool and the vibes were just awesome. I think that this would be an insane place to hang out in the summer for sure. The workers that I interacted with were all very polite and nice. If the price per taco was cheaper I would absolutely be giving this place five stars.

    Burrito bowl with shrimp

This was one of the best eating experiences ever! At lunch, I had the shrimp taco and smoked potato taco. For supper, we came back. I grabbed the chips and salsa AND the burrito bowl with shrimp. Unbelievable. ALSO, gluten free!!

Crazy that this Mexican food eatery with a small yet delicious menu sits within a 42,000-square-foot building that formerly served as an equestrian center. Now it's an eatery inside several rooms - a part of the largest distillery in Michigan. The BIG room, on a colored, swirling and polished cement floor is decorated with couches, picnic tables, a large screen for videos and corn-hole boards and other games. My spouse and I ordered a quesadilla filled with chicken, avocado, peppers. onions and cheese ($16). YUM. Prepared on a 10-inch tortilla, it was served with limey-tasting sauce of sour cream in a tiny ramekin. We picked it up at the window in the long hallway on the side of the distillery and ate at a picnic table with our bottles of Mexican Coke and Lime Jarrito in the big hall. Although the price is a bit more than we usually spend for a top-notch quesadilla, we probably will return for fish (cod) taco $6.00. The only major drawback is the distance between the parking area and the restaurant and distillery. It's up a myriad of steep steps, although there is a drop-off area near the building for those who are physically impaired.

Outside the fray of downtown Petoskey, El Cilantro has a much more relaxed vibe. It's close to the state park and ideal for hungry campers or bikers riding from Petoskey to Harbor Springs. The server definitely gets five plus stars. Helpful, fun and attentive. We enjoyed the complementary chips and salsa while waiting for our food. Our shrimp tacos, which we shared, were enough for two or one very hungry person. They looked appealing, served in a casual "basket" plate. Though everything was fine and satisfying, we both felt there was a lack of seasoning that would have made our meal next-level. We are from Southern California and may have higher standards and more experience with Mexican cuisine than most. The level of flavoring and spice would surely appeal to the palate that does not crave much heat or traditional spices. As campers, we will definitely keep El Cilantro on our list to visit for future trips.

We found ourselves inside of Rodrigo's at capacity and there was a 20 minute wait so we settled for seats at the bar as we were needing to ingest some flavorful cuisine. As it turned out sitting at the bar was a very worthwhile experience. We ordered our drinks which were prepared with precision and care right in front of s as our appetizer was served. We opted for the Rodrigos Queso with beef smothered in delicious creamy Mexican queso along with lots of black pepper and a hint of jalapeno! ! Possibly the best I have ever had! I actually inquired how it was made. The staff were very fun and friendly and we were both equally impressed with out entrees. My friend has fajitas and i went right for a trio of tacos. Traditional soft traditional tacos with shrimp, carnitas and beef. Full of flavor. The tortillas as well as the chips were all made in house and were over the top. Going to a touristy destination in far north Michigan the skeptic in me did not expect quality Mexican food but was wrong. Rodrigo's far exceeded my expectations and was filling thus solving our hunger issues and we had a pretty good time as well. The positives- our friends loved their soup, beer was cold, margaritas $15 which again is pricey considering your charming $20-25/entree. I get inflation has hit us all but I doubt we will be back.
