If you haven't tried this place...I recommend you RUN and not walk!! I am vegan and I feel there are never enough reviews about vegan options, so here goes. I was traveling in the Petoskey area and of course I always seek out all vegan restaurants or restaurants with vegan options. Initially I wasn't hopeful that I'd find anything vegan in Petoskey and knew I'd starve for weekend, but I was pleasantly surprised (really surprised and happy) when I came across Happy's Taco Shop. And what was even more exciting is they have a separate vegan menu (say what)!!! Needless to say, this is where I ended up. From the moment I stepped up to the counter to first inquire if they did indeed have vegan options (the cashier very nicely said yes they do and hands me the vegan menu) and second to place my order, I was filled with excitement and anticipation to try these vegan tacos! So what did I order? I'm glad you asked . I ended up getting the Vegan Crunch Wrap Royale and the Smoked Potato Taco and OMGEEEE...both were fiyah...and for those who don't know that means they were DELICIOUS ON TOP OF DELICIOUS!!! The flavors were on point and the portion size is plentiful and I had to get a to go box! My husband knows when I like my food because I do a "happy dance" and I was indeed dancing!! Very cute tego spot located in the same space as the brewery. I chose this place cause they had vegan options, there is a separate vegan menu. I've tried both vegan tacos and they were delicious, with slight preference on the smoked potato one. My husband had the chilaquiles taco and street taco delux, and he also enjoyed his. The only problem was that they are very small for the price, so it definetly didn't satisfy our hunger. W decided to split a vegan crunchwrap and that was the hit of the entire meal. Very good. Combined with one of the home made salsa, it was awesome. We also had a couple of beers, and this was a great but expensive meal. For that reason it won't be our frequent spot to visit. read more

The staff were wonderful to work with. The lady at the checkout desk had a great presence and was able to recommend several different tacos. Her positivity and sheer excitement that it was my first time visiting made the line to order worth the wait. The food came out quickly and the presentation was vastly different than expected. We needed somewhere to stop to eat on our road trip and found this food truck park! It has been difficult to always find really good vegetarian food in Michigan, but Happy's surprised me! They had two vegan tacos and they were SO GOOD! Everyone at the food truck was so friendly and helpful. I got both of the vegan tacos they offered. Their tacos were actually creative!! One of them had two tortillas: the inner one was fried with cheese! They also had a pepita crunch on one taco which was crispy quinoa and pepita seeds. Again, so good!!!! They also had meat based tacos too, so regardless of what you eat, you should come here! We came here looking for a good spot to eat. We were not disappointed. The flavor in their tacos is quite excellent. They know how to put the appropriate sweet and spices combo so that you have extreme flavor but it doesn't stimulate your senses in a painful way. I ordered two regular tacos with the lamb meat, which was very good and two others that I was dining with ordered some with shrimp and a different one with lamb as well. They would not stop complementing them after they ate so I know they enjoyed their meal. My only complaint is that they were kind of expensive. They were probably normal size but smaller tacos and they each cost way over $5 per taco. So it wasn't the worst that we weren't very hungry when we got there because I could have probably spent like close to $100 there by my self if I came in ready to bash. The place was a super cool place. We came in the winter so probably worst time of year to check this place out, but it was super cool the bar was nice the taco trucks were so cool and the vibes were just awesome. I think that this would be an insane place to hang out in the summer for sure. The workers that I interacted with were all very polite and nice. As a native born-and-raised Petoskey man who also works in F&B, I'm proud to say that there is no place I could ever recommend more than Happy's Taco Shop. From the day I grabbed my first Super Burrito it was over for me and my wallet. I was simply hooked - every ingredient is cooked and assembled to perfection every time I order it and make for an unbelievable and filling meal that will leave you not only happy (of course), but with a full tummy and insatiable desire for more. I can attest that I've ordered the Super Burrito with roasted pork -- spicy sauce on the side :) -- at least 100 times (not joking), and remains one of my favorite go-to meals whenever I'm hungry. It simply never fails!! Aside from my ongoing romantic relationship with the burrito I have indeed tried just about every other menu item which rotates seasonally and it truly only ever gets better and better thus pulling me away from my very happy romance with the burrito. Most recently they made the righteous decision to return the Choriqueso Rangoons, another all time favorite for me. They are simply outstanding. Two newer items such as the Whitefish Taco and the Beef Roast Quesotaco have also proved superb and will continue to attract dollars from my bank account for the foreseeable future. I could go on and on about the impeccable menu options but the bottom line is, you simply cannot/will not be disappointed in the incredible food selection and friendly service offered in this food truck that goes under the radar for most seasonal tourists. That may be due to the fact that it's a smaller part of a bigger establishment, which is the backlot in its entirety - but there is a reason that this is the only food truck out of six that is open year-round at the backlot. I am a waiter at a lovely establishment in Bay Harbor where many tourists visit and ask what other good places in the area are worth giving a visit, and I have and will always ever recommend them to Happy's first and foremost. From the food, to the fun environment, to the friendly employees who recognize me every time and strike fun and friendly conversation, they will never lose my business. Stopped here on our way to Bay Harbour and had to stop again on our way back because we could not stop thinking about the Rangoons and tacos! Also tried the Crunch wrap which was amazing.
