I placed an order over the phone for pick up 2 days later. The employee that took the order helped me negative the company website menu, and we discussed prices. After paying for my order I noticed I was charged more for all my items than the menu showed. When I talked to a manager he told me they don't honor the website menu prices because the website is outdated. They charged me $124.56 more than they were supposed to. They were out of ribs believe it or not , I ordered the half chicken and it was dried out , one and done , not going back.

Grading on a curve for a small town, I'll say 4 stars. The flavors are very good, the cuts of meat for the brisket and pulled pork were "ok." I wouldn't compare it to my favorite downstate bbq places nor places in the south, but for Up North, it's a solid choice. Since it's "covid" life for now, we did takeout abs went to fisherman's island state park. So our views of sunset on a bench were the perfect way to eat this meal. read more

Love the homemade chips not over salted - natural and tasty. Everything we had was so flavorful. The staff was very friendly. A fast food style restaurant for bbq. It even has a drive-thru. We got take out for our dinner that night. A half rack of ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and corn bread. Sadly our oven wasn't working so we hade to nuke it to warm it up. It nuked well and was tasty and slid right of the bone. The half rack was just the right size for two lighter eaters. The beans were horrendous. They need to start from scratch and slap the back of the head for whomever is responsible for them! The potato salad was good and the corn bread was excellent. Service was good and everything was clean. Overall a slightly soft 4 stars. Could have been lower but would have rounded back up. I'd eat here again. read more

The food was just okay - I'm a bit bummed. I kept driving by this restaurant and finally decided to stop in. We had a huge order for 6-7 people and there were only a few favs ...the brisket, cornbread, Mac n cheese and the half rack of ribs. It seems like the meat platters were the ones that fell short - the pulled pork had a lot of hard/inedible pieces and the rib tips were ok. The half rack was good so I'm unsure the discrepancy with the rib tips. The corn slaw was not good, the potato salad fell short, as well. The creamy coleslaw was just ok. Also we ordered one of each of the wings and it seemed like the naked wings & the Alabama white were the favorites. If you like spicy their spicy IS spicy. The chicken sandwich and the Nashville hot sauce for the wings are HOT. read more

We found this place just by driving by, on a camping trip last weekend. It was so delicious that we went back a few hours later, once we left the beach. The fish tacos!! The smoked wings!! Yeah, I ordered the fish tacos, and my husband ordered the wings (1/2 dry rub, 1/2 Buffalo). We shared with each other, then flipped our order when we returned because both were SO tasty. Also, the staff at the drive-thru window were beyond sweet both visits. Great place, great food. Just wish we were local to visit more often. read more

We hit the drive through a few weeks ago and picked up food to take to our hotel. The items were served quickly and the pricing was good. We had a brisket sandwich, BBQ nachos, chili, and chowder. I was excited for the chili beforehand, but the chowder was really good. The brisket sandwich was good. I would order those two again without hesitation. read more

Recently ate in restaurant and we were not overly impressed. I ordered the pulled pork tacos, waffle fries, mac & cheese, and potato salad. The pork was okay, not great, but not the best either. The waffle fries were delicious with the selection of bbq sauces, the potato salad was good, but the macaroni and cheese had absolutely no flavor. In addition to that, we all immediately went for the ginger ale and the Cherry limeade out of the fountain machine and it was all just coming out as straight syrup and so we all went back and poured our drinks out and grabbed sweet tea instead and we all noticed a weird taste in the sweet tea. Almost like the inside of the canister may have been dirty? We could be wrong, but there was definitely an unpleasant taste that all 7 of us noticed. I hate to leave bad reviews, but I think we were all pretty disappointed with the food considering the prices were so high. Coming back because I forgot to add- one person in our group ordered cornbread and upon biting into it, the inside of it was raw. The pickled pepper slaw will be an immediate favorite to those who like it spicy. Mac and cheese was soggy and somewhat forgettable. Toasted Texas toast was delicious, hot and crispy. The mango habanero sauce was too sweet and too fruity, with no discernable heat, very disappointing. Solid barbecue joint nestled in one of the cutest towns in the state. The pulled pork is exactly as you would want it, slightly greasy and smoky, the smoke sausage surprisingly was my favorite item. I am giving you four stars. My wife would likely have given you three stars. I had the ribs, and a summer tomato salad thing and we had some corn chowder like soup. My wife had pulled pork tacos. My ribs were good, they weren't great, keep in mind I am normally eating BBQ in Texas, so I am judging this BBQ on a different level than others might. Big huge issue for me on the ribs, they didn't cut them, so I wasn't able to eat rib after rib, I had to cut them, with a plastic knife. Seriously, own your craft, be proud of your work, slice them bad boys up for the customer before serving them, EVERY place in Texas does this. The next thing is, seasoning. The chowder needed salt, everyone at the table agreed, including myself, and I RARELY salt anything. The summer cucumber salad thing, this was actually AMAZING. The balsamic and other seasonings for the salad were spot on, I just wish I had more of it. The pulled pork, my wife felt was lacking flavor. As someone who does pork shoulder a few times a year for many years, I know it can be hard to get good flavor in there, I brine mine. And I believe in letting folks sauce their own meat, that way they get the ratio they are looking for, so I feel your presentation of pulled pork was fine, but yeah working some flavor into the meat would be good, whether this is smoking it a little bit longer (trying different wood) or changing up how you prep before the smoking, that would be worth a shot, I see some others stating that they found a lack of flavor in the pulled pork. If it had not been a bit rainy, I think the picnic setup is perfect, I love BBQ eaten in a sort of outdoor setting. I would totally eat here again (or at any place their BBQ bus is at), but it would likely take some convincing to have my wife to join me. read more

We have eaten here a number of times but are always reluctant to because the food is inconsistent. Their food can be very good. We've gotten perfect brisket, tender ribs, and golden-brown fried chicken -- but also super-fatty brisket, very tough ribs, and within-a-hair-of-burnt fried chicken. If they put some work into turning out a consistent product I would definitely be a more frequent customer. read more

The first noticeable thing was the lack of smoke smell emanating from building. Where do they smoke?? the Friendly was staff, ordering system is similar- order at the counter, sit and they bring the food. I thought the meat portions were kind of small. We got the three meat platter to share. The brisket portion included 3 thing slices. Pulled pork was tasty and tender and the pulled chicken was dry. The pig marbles were tasty. Corn bread and burnt ends were tasty and not too fatty. All in all, it was good but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again. read more

The smothered frys were legitimately one of the most delicious meals I've ever had in a restaurant, and I do mean a meal. Wow!

So I'm from Cincinnati, and I like to smoke meat at my house so I kinda feel like I know what I'm talking about here; this is seriously good BBQ. Usually if you find a good BBQ join they have good pulled pork and just OK everything else. Everything we've had at PER is really good. We've been here for a week staying in Petoskey; we've gone twice so far and considering going back for our final night here tonight. I'm picky about ribs but these were really good. Tender but not mushy. I ate half of them without BBQ sauce. The menu is really interesting too. My sister in law got pulled pork quesadilla's that were really good. We also tried the smoked/fried wings; also ate those without sauce. Honestly some of th the best wings I've ever had. I could keep going on just about everything. The sides are really good as well. The macaroni and cheese is great and the sweet cornbread was delicious. If I had one knock, it's the jalapeño cornbread. It was pretty bitter, but in fairness to PER I don't care for jalapeño so the second time I asked specifically the sweet cornbread. It's a little pricier than most BBQ places but the portions are really generous and the quality of the food makes it a fair deal. If you like BBQ, go out of your way to go here. read more

The food is generally good but we were very disappointed with multiple food items missing in our order and the portion size. We ordered platters so we could feed more people. It came with two slices of meat and bread. Our sides were missing but I find it very strange it's advertised as a platter with such little food. We paid cash and didn't have time due to having kids to drive al the way back for our missing food or a refund. We will try again next year to see if they get better. read more

Called them and they told me they never check the stuff before they put it in the smoker "must be a supplier problem!! Who doesn't check there products before cooking?? These folks have upped their game considerably since I first visited a few years ago at their smaller location by the Charlevoix Airport. They now have a new location in a new building in town with seating and even a drive-thru. EVERYTHING they make is magic. But, may I humbly suggest the smothered fries. For $8, you'll get a giant pile of waffle fries smothered in pickled Garlic Aioli, Multiple types of cheeses and all manner of good things. Its more than a meal, it's an experience. We come to Chx every summer and live full-time in New York. We've eaten some of the best food there is; Michelin star restaurants, Zagat rated, you name it. We've had our fair share of good BBQ in NYC, but we're suburbanites now and have found LITERALLY nothing within a 25 mile radius that itches our BBQ bone. This summer we tried Pigs Eatin' Ribs while on vacation and we ate there or got take out from there 4 times within a 10 day period. The rib tips were consistent, the pulled pork was perfection. I had Pigs Eatin Ribs come to my home for our "rehearsal dinner" we threw for any wedding guest in town. We did have a traditional rehearsal dinner, but wanted everyone included somehow. Boy oh boy did we make the right choice. He came with the pig cooking away and all the sides we needed for the amount of guests we had (100-150) He was very friendly and the food was phenomenal. We got married in Charlevoix on 10/8/16 at Castle Farms, and utilized Pigs Eatin' Ribs as our caterer - they are on the preferred vendors list there. They were very helpful in the days leading up to our wedding with different questions I had, and we were happy with the appetizers, dinner, and service on the day of our wedding (including bartenders who were friendly and did a great job). Several people went up for seconds, and Pigs Eatin' Ribs gave us the leftovers at the end of the night. They were also on time the day of our wedding, and it was overall a reasonable price. A few small complaints that in the big picture were not that big of a deal, but contributed to the 4 star rating: 1) The salad seemed to have been made too early in the day and was partly wilted by the time it was served. 2) It was a little bit difficult to get in touch with them toward the beginning of my wedding planning, but it was around the holiday season so I will give them a break on that. 3) A few days before the wedding, I was told it would be an additional $2 per person to have water service (glasses of water at each table) - partly my fault for assuming it should be part of the cost of servers, but it was an unforeseen cost at the last minute that wasn't spelled out in the contract. Overall, we were happy with the food and service for our wedding and would recommend to anyone else getting married in the area! read more

I am reviewing this as a vegetarian. The name is a pretty good indication of the amount of vegetarian options. My dad really likes to eat here and sometimes I'm with him. I used to get the mac and cheese, but then I was told it has chicken (fat?) in it, so I moved onto salads. The house salad has a lot of good stuff on it, mostly cornbread croutons, but the lettuces they use are really bitter. The smoked tomato ranch dressing is my favorite. read more
