Our visit to the Back Lot was horrible! The bar service was disastrous! The 2 drinks we were able to order were made incorrect. One was a Gypsy vodka and cranberry juice, don't know what the tender put in it, but it was not cranberry juice. Asked for a replacement, was told he didn't make the drink, he was the only tender there! The second drink he made was a mule, it took him 15 minutes to make it, then couldn't figure out how to charge the credit card. Our party of 9 then left. The tender told us it was his second night, shame on the owners for leaving someone so incapable running their business. Not only did this poor choice loose business for the Back Lot Bar, but for West Coast sliders, we were all going to get good there. Only gave one star because it wouldn't let me give none. This is a place with several food trucks serving a whole variety of cuisines, and a bar and slider joint inside. There's outdoor seating and indoor seating with great views of the water. Inside you can choose from still water and carbonated water. While we were eating, someone was coming around and checking in and making sure that everything was good. This place is great for families and dogs (outdoor area only I believe) and the tables are huge so it's great for groups. read more

This spot was a treat. We stopped here 4th of July weekend when many other spots were over-crowded. This place is great! Head inside for diverse ciders, beers, cocktails, etc. and then check out the slider shop while inside or some of the other food trucks outside. When we were there, they had a chicken truck, seafood, and jamaican. We went for sliders and everything was delicious. Dog-friendly outside patio with tons of tables. Run, bike, don't walk to Backlot for excellent view, chill atmosphere and the most delicious food truck, ever - Island Grillers. My man, Carl, and his family know how to cook and represent Jam Down with the tastiest Caribbean food - on par with Kingston Inn in Mackinaw. The Brewery is also run by the nicest people and have great drinks and beers. So accommodating. Cannot wait to come back and soak up the atmosphere again with some drinks and live tunes! read more

Dirty place. Zero service. They let us sit inside the restaurant for 20 minutes and no one greeted us No one came over to let us know us know to order at the bar. At least two staff people saw us and said nothing. They just let us sit at the sticky tables for 20 minutes. read more

We went here at 11:30 am for lunch and loved the entire experience. There was a metered lot adjacent to the Back Lot. I had the hefferweiss beer. The bar tender was awesome and let me try it before I committed to a glass. Ample seating surrounded by a variety of food trucks. We plan to return later in the week. The wood fired pizza was a solid 5/5! The pita sandwiches both scored 4/5. I had a couple of appetizers from the Cheese truck and while OK I think other offering might be better. We had the Mac and cheese bites and pickle fries. A very nice touch - The Back Lot has a self serve water station (no charge) with both sparkling and plain water. read more

Our typical carryout restaurant was closed, so we went to @thebacklotcharlevoix A first for me. Todays food trucks were Cheese and Co. and Reel Deal. We both had the fish and chips. My husband had the cod and I had the whitefish. I did have him get me a lemonade from Cheese and Co., we'll try them next time. We both loved our meals, but what was amazing was that the fish was still hot when he arrived. We are staying ten minutes away. BTW, great food. I'm excited to try the other trucks. read more

Only one screwy white wine. Island Grillers .says fresh but what we had was frozen off the truck. Doesn't compare with Petoskey Backlot.

Beer & Food Trucks! Really good food. Must go. The fish and chips truck was top notch. The Mediterranean was amazing.

The burgers are great!! Love their seasoned fries! Also there are 30 beers on tap!! What's not to love about this!

Honestly, this is our go-to while in Charlevoix. The atmosphere is easy and comfortable. The selection of food allows us to not compromise what each wants for dinner. Especially, we love LOVE the food at Grill Chasers! Then again, the sliders are amazing too. Being able to enjoy quality beer choices just rounds out why we go to BackLot at least weekly. We tried out the new addition to the Charlevoix Backlot, Island Grillers, last night. The weather was not worthy of outside dining so we carried out two meals and took them home. I had the Island Grilled Red Snapper and my wife had the Island Rice Bowl with jerk shrimp. These meals are restaurant worthy but prepared in a food truck. The snapper meal was great and I would get it again in a heartbeat. The rice bowl was great as well, and enough for a second meal for my wife. Make sure to add Island Grillers to your list of restaurants when you are looking for a great meal outside. read more

Loved it. We went for a late lunch on a Wednesday. This meant that only two trucks were open, but it was great! The slider truck (upstairs inside) was open and while we didn't try it, our friend did and said it was great. We got a grilled cheese from the GCheese truck as well as a more healthy bowl and both were outstanding. Like really good food. Will def get again. I also had the blueberry lavender lemonade which was outstanding. As for beer, it is a good, thoughtful list (beer drinkers - they had a beer representative of most styles) so there were IPAs to hazies to a Belgian saison so all good there. And the bartender was aiming to please and happy to offer tastes. We will def be back and I didn't even mention the lovely view of Lake Charlevoix. Great addition to CVX!! read more

We are so lucky to live near The Back Lot in Charlevoix. The selection of food trucks is amazing, even for a gluten free vegan!!!! Island Grillers even made for me a delicious combination of grilled veggies using avocado oil instead of their usual butter. They were delicious. I have found great options at every truck except one (fish and chips) so that is a definite win for me. Also love that they offer at least 2 hard ciders as well. My husband and I go a couple times a week and have never been disappointed. read more

OMG!!! What a hidden gem. How do people not know about this?? It has great outdoor seating, semioutdoor seating, and indoor seating which can be described as an upscale sports bar and has lots of TVs- food trucks with delicious food - A great bar with a couple of daily specialty drinks and a ton of beers on tap. Easy seating, great food. We rolled in with a group of 21 and were fed and happy in no time at all. It's hard for me to understand why you were going to downtown to eat when there is this option just outside of town. read more
