This was my second visit to this establishment and again it was very good. I had the verde chicken enchilada...yum! Service was fast, food was hot and delicious. My only complaint would be that it took 30 minutes to get my check. I will definitey be back. read more

Very disappointed. We came in after hearing an ad on the radio touting their food and drink specials, so figured why not. It was deserted on a Friday afternoon, never a good sign, there was just a solitary creepy looking guy drinking at the bar. After taking forever to greet us at the host stand we were finally sat in a booth, and the waiter and hostess disappeared without a word. As she came back with water we tried to order according to their advertised special but they told us that it was only for certain hours and you had to be sitting at the bar to get the discounted rates. this place is the best deal in grand junction, colorado for happy hour from 3 to 5 pm for food appetizers and 3 to 6 pm for drinks. $3 margaritas and $2 domestic 16 oz draft. the appetizers are big enough for two people to share, and most are reduced by 30% but are inexpensive to start with. friendly staff and place looks good. read more

Although the service was nice and the interior was well decorated and clean, the food wasn't very good. I ordered a chicken enchilada and ground beef taco combo. The chips and salsa and horchata were good, unfortunately nothing else was. The chicken was very watered down which made my whole plate of food soggy and the beef inside the tacos was a nasty pasty consistency. Won't be coming back. read more

Being from California, my opinion of Mexican food may be a little different than local Grand Junctions. Servings were huge, plenty of food to take for another meal. However it was bland and basic.... Nothing I couldn't make at home. Margaritas was definitely the highlight of the meal, I would come back just for the Margaritas! read more

Walking in the decor was great, seemed really up beat. First meeting of our server wasn't pleasant, very rude, no excitement or interest in serving us. We had a total of 5 different servers throughout out visit. On top of that none of them had good attitudes or knew the menu at all. Very poor service. On top of the service the cost of items in menu were extremely over priced, considering there are quite a few Mexican restaurants that are way better in the Grand Junction area with better pricing, they need to think about that! Food wasn't great, very bland compared to authentic mexican food, service friendly but slow, and I will NEVER be going back. Went on my birthday, the waitress was specifically told no happy birthday song, then the whole "crew" came out and sang. No biggie, but we said no for a reason. For me it's disgusting to have a sombrero, that has been on many other heads, put onto my head. After I politely took it off while they sang, one of the guys grabbed it from me and held it onto my head, pushing it down fairly hard and holding me in place. He also took a fork, not spoon!, full of whip cream from the sopapillas and purposely got it up my nose. I have slight OCD germaphobia, and ended up having an anxiety attack on the way home, itching everywhere and couldn't get to my shower fast enough. Complete lack of respect from the staff, and gave me the WORST BIRTHDAY NIGHT EVER. If the food had been decent, I wouldn't be writing this review. For the staff, as I hope you read this, not everyone takes off that f@cking hat out of embarrassment. You might as well have sh*t in your hands and rubbed it on my head. I almost slapped the guy who did that, even though he deserved a full on face punch. Next time, LISTEN to your customers requests. read more

Our favorite Mexican place in GJ! Love the variety of dishes on the menu. The molcajete is my personal favorite, but it's too much food for one person. Also like the variety of chicken dishes. Dishes have gotten noticeably blander since Mi Mexico first opened, but that's consistent with local tastes: "The blander, the better" being the local motto. We don't agree, but restaurants must cut back on the spiciness if they want to stay in business. read more

I came expecting cheap, middle America Mex. In a parking lot ready for 50 autos, I pulled up front row with only two other cars in the lot. Walking in, I knew I was doomed when all you can see is a sea of bright, traditionally tacky wood chairs, cliche Mexican art, and not a soul in sight. It was eerily quite for its large size and adding to the awkwardness, there were at least 150+ high backed chairs perfectly organized, at the ready, and again, nobody but 2 other tables at the other end of the restaurant very quietly speaking amongst themselves. Have these table and chairs been used anytime in the past year? My intuition told me NO, this place was deserted. At any rate, I'm committed now and I'm kinda in the mood for some dirty ol Mex anyways. I sit at the bar, order a Rita (surprisingly good for cheap, pre-made sweet and sour) and dive into a menu that is WAY to big for its own good. I'm convinced there's no way the food is going to be fresh, given such a massive menu and zero customers. But, here's where I digress. The Camerones Barracho with carrots, cauliflower and celery in a white cream sauce was the bomb. All the veggies were cooked perfectly and the rice and beans were spot on delicious. There was a lot of food and I practically licked my place clean. I'm learning a lesson, don't judge a book by its cover. I'll be back. read more

For only being open a week, we had a great experience! Come hungry because the plates are huge and the food is excellent! I had the fajita burrito and my husband had the two burrito large combo plate. Both were very good. Almost every table in the restaurant was full but our service was fast and very pleasant. We tried this restaurant last night. I had tacos Al carbon and my wife had fajitas. There was so much food that neither of us could eat everything. But the food wasn't great the steak in the Tacos and fajitas was burnt and the tacos were too wet to pick up - a lot more like an enchilada. The service was about average. read more

Came here for lunch on Christmas Eve. The restaurant is a good size place and the decor is nice too (in that Mexican motif). I ordered the 2 taco & enchilada combo platter. It comes with refried beans, rice and coleslaw. Yeah, I thought serving cole slaw was odd but it worked. You get chips, 2 kinds of salsa (mild & hot) and a bowl of pico de gallo to nosh on before your food arrives. The salsas and pico were really good but the chips were disappointing. They tasted like they were store bought and a little stale. Disappointing since I'm at a Mexican restaurant, how hard is it to make fresh chips? My tacos were OK. The shells were pre-made like you'd get from a package of Old El Paso Taco shells. They weren't bad but again, how hard is it to make fresh taco shells and you are a Mexican restaurant? The platters were HUGE and everything tasted real good so no complaints there. I had a banana margarita and that was the bomb. It's hard to find those so I was glad I had one. They make other flavors I've never heard of like peach and blueberry. I may have to try that next time. I had fried ice cream for dessert and that was real good too. The service was excellent and the restaurant was nice & clean. I will be back since other members of my party who ate had various other dishes and they looked killer and their platters were huge too. I would've given this a 4 star rating if it weren't for the tacos and chips. Oh and they have a fresh tortilla making area on nights and weekends that I would love to try. Our server was offended that our table ordered waters. We always order water, it's good for you. The food was NASTY. The ground beef was greasy, I would rather eat Taco Bell. The chorizo was burn. This used to be a great place for Tex-Mex but our recent visit left us hugely disappointed. The Chicken Burrito had a piece of bone in it which was mistakenly swallowed, some chicken gristle and the rest was tasteless mushrooms, rice, beans, one carrot coin raw and 1 piece of green pepper. There was no flavor to the burrito that made it taste particularly Mexican. I told the server about the bone. He said "I'm sorry" without much sincerity. He offered to take order back to kitchen but by that time I had a bone stuck in my esophagus and didn't feel like eating another thing. We won't be going back. read more
