I requested a quote through another app to get a doorway widened. Lance was able to come out pretty quickly to do this job, however the bottom portion of the doorway was left unfinished (wood with nails sticking out was still there after Lance left), along with part of the inside of the door frame left hanging. I ended up taking care of this myself. Additionally, the owner of this company, Michael Moxley came by while Lance was working. He let his dog roam around the area outside. During this time, his dog ran into my house and started eating my cat's wet food. I had to shoo the dog out of my house. They did not do a good job of cleaning up after themselves. read more

I would not recommend you used this company for any of your handy needs. Not because their work is bad. But because the way they're running their company is weird and scary. If you're a single woman by yourself you wouldn't want to experience what I experienced. I found MGM cabinets and doors through Angie's listings or should I say "they found me". I was looking for someone to come fix my front door & gate. So I put my address and my phone number into the app so they can find the services near me. First I got a few emails from different places. Then I got a phone call from Michael at MGM cabinets and doors. Which was fine. We discuss pricing and how long the job would take. Before we got off the phone he asked me to send him pictures of my door I said I would. I didn't send him any pictures. I wanted to shop around and get some more quotes before I commit to him. About an hour after I got off the phone with Michael I get a hard knock at my door. It startled me I was scared. I thought it might have been the police or something the way they knocked. I opened the door to two men I never seen before. To my surprise it was Michael and some other man. He said I'm here to fix your gate and I said I didn't even send you any pictures. He said oh well we're here now do you want us to look at it. I said no I made it seem like it was because of the prices but it was really because I'm scared to random ass man just popped up at my door unwarranted and I wasn't going to open my door for two strange men. Michael seemed bothered by his demeanor and his tone as he left but idc. Now If that's not weird and scary I don't know what is. I didn't even know the name of this man's company so that's how you know he should have been at my front door. I had to trick him into give me the name of his company so I can write this review.I did that do text message trickery LOL and Michael fell for it. I'm going to put our back and forth underneath. I just want people to be safe and don't put your information in these apps dnt let them know your whereabouts cuz something like this might happen to you. This was minor but it could have been worse. Worst Instaler you could find. I let him go off of my property due to his mess he leaves. He was paid in full and tried taking me to court to fraudulently claim more money. I showed up several times to court and he didn't show up once. He is a crook and his worker goes by several different names. He is under investigation for tax evasion and workman's comp insurance. I'm a fairly handy person that likes to do the work myself when possible, but because replacing by back patio door seemed beyond my scope because of the odd sizing and placement, I reached out to a few door vendors. Even though they weren't the cheapest (or more expensive) quote I received, I'm glad I chose Michael Moxley to do the job. After a 2:30am burglary attempt on our house, my wife and I found ourselves with a broken front door that had to be barricaded with 2x4s just to keep it closed. We called MGM looking for a miracle: Given the emergency, could they come and repair the damage before the end of the day? After a few questions and a few photos of the damage, Michael and his team arrived and rebuilt the door stronger than ever. A steel tube was installed to replace the strike plate area, door hinges were given longer and stronger screws, and caulk and heavy duty wood glue took care of the rest. The house was built in the 1950s, so the door is now far more secure than it has been in decades. Michael and his team even repaired the trim around the door so it looked nice again! In just a few hours, we didn't just have our front entrance repaired and reinforced -- we had peace of mind and a sense of protection. Mike was extremely helpful translating our ideas into concrete plans, explaining the process, and helping us find and acquire materials. Mike and his team were always professional, consistently and promptly responsive to our ideas, feedback and questions, and provided reasonable estimates and updates to cost as well as timelines. Sam, one of MGM's employees, has done an excellent job for us with two separate projects. He's been on-time, pleasant to work with and skilled. First, we had an inexpensive master bedroom door in an open concept home and because my husband gets up earlier than I do I could hear every bit of noise he made. Sam installed a solid core door with weatherstripping around it so now I can sleep in silence. Second, our front door wasn't installed square and it let in cold air in the winter. Just today Sam set it square and installed weatherstripping so it now has a nice seal that will no doubt save us on heating costs. They're not cheap ($310 for 45 minutes work on the front door) but the results couldn't be better. Thanks Sam and Mike! read more

I have used MGM Cabinets on two jobs in the last 3 years. First home in Benicia was to install my new Kraftmaid cabinets purchased from Home Depot for both restrooms and the kitchen. Mike and his team did a great job installing cabinets and the granite counters. Kitchen came out just like we wanted and there was significant savings over 10k as opposed to Home Depot doing the entire job. Because on the experience from the Benicia job we again hired MGM Cabinets for our project in Marin. We asked Mike if there was a way to save on cabinet cost. He recommended using a new cabinet manufacture HK cabinets that were all hardwood construction and similar in quality to Kraftmaid but at a 50% savings. We went with the HK cabinets and Mike handle the rest. Mike and his teamed replaced the Kitchen and both restroom cabinets and coordinated the granite installation in all 3 areas. Project came out great and the savings were close to 20k compared to Kraftmaid being installed by Home Depot. Cabinets were a really value for the price and we have been pleased with them so far. Is there a drop off from Kraftmaid yes there is although slightly. Is Kraftmaid worth 10k more probably not unless you have to have a specific color and shape. If we get another home, Mike and his team of pros will be our choice for the kitchen and restrooms. read more

I was shocked by the 4+ stars for this company. Contract was signed in October '18 with a promise to have work completed by Christmas. I was having kitchen cabinets refaced, new counters and backsplash. Work went on forever. Mike took a vacation while the job was going on therefore I was unable to reach him when problems came up. Constantly ran out of money. Even though I paid on intervals outlined in the contract, I had to pay more frequently in order to get the job done. Finally finished in April '19. Stay away. read more

I needed an exterior laundry door repaired that wasn't closing anymore during a recent rainstorm. I submitted my problem on the Internet and received an immediate quote within minutes from this business. I was instructed to submit a picture of the front and the inside of the door and text them the pictures for a quote. I received the quote within minutes and an appointment was set up the following day. I was called one hour before the repairman, Rusty, arrived. He arrived on time and spent 2 hours working on the door. He explained what repairs he had made and pointed them out to me. I was not provided an estimate prior to them coming out to do the job. I also did not get exactly what I requested. I requested a door knob on one door, and They installed a door latch. I would suggest you ask what their hourly rate is at the time you place your order, and if possible, buy your own supplies to keep the cost down. I hired this company to remodel my kitchen in October. I asked repeatedly if he could have it finished by Christmas as I was having family fly in. Yes, no problem. My kitchen was not finished until late April, early May the following year. I cannot tell you how many times he measured my cabinets. When it came time to install the new ones over half were the wrong size. As he got 1/2 way thru the project he told me he had run out of money and I needed to give him more money to buy new cabinets. His workers were lazy; unlicensed; unprofessional. Mr. Moxley is an arrogant asshole who has no business running a business. He really needs to have his license suspended. Even though his prices may be attractive you end up paying more with frustration and aggravation trying to get the job completed. read more

Disappointing. I had a complete kitchen cabinet install to do and had already purchased the cabinets from Signature. (Amazing deal!) MGM didn't like that. They were slow to respond. Promised to get back to me with a quote but needed cabinet layout drawings but had trouble receiving because of email issues? After finally receiving drawings, never responded with a quote. Then, a month later, I get a call asking if they can come out this week to install. Really, did they think I would sit around for a month waiting for them to find time to travel from Martinez to Marin? It was clear they prioritize their availability based on where they need to go and how much they can make so unless you are doing a huge job worthy of their attention and cabinets, you can expect to be put on a back burner until they have nothing else to do. Complaint Description: Has not completed contract for 3shelves & 2doors in over 1 yr. The contract was signed at the end of Jan 2014 for construction of 3 built-in shelves/entertainment centers and installation of 2 outside doors. To this day (Feb 11, 2015)every deadline promised has been missed. The shelves were installed with colors that do not match from top to bottom. Shelves had to be redone with workmanship being fair. The trims of the shelves are still not yet installed. Electric outlets which were modified by workmen as part of installing shelves no longer work and have not been fixed. The two outside doors were installed. Both sag and one had to be redone. The other has to be jiggled to close. Within 1 month of installation, one door's trims fell apart and were glued/nailed together with promise that it would be replaced. Thus far, no further word regarding replacement has been received. Multiple requests for updates and completion have been met with false promises and missed deadlines/appointments. Almost all of the agreed upon price has been paid based on false promises that payment would allow for the next phase to take place. I have saved emails and texts demonstrating all the missed deadlines and false promises. read more

Installed someone elses cabinets in my kitchen, then we made him remove them and picked out the ones we asked for and paid for them ourselves 3 month job took six months. the work was so terrible we have cabinets drawers that we cant open because he installed them wrong. Micheal Moxley his contractors made huge dusty mess in our entire house every day so i asked his contractors to stay and clean up at the end of the day and Moxley, billed us an extra 10 grang for over time for his lazy workers. Mike installed my kitchen cabinets and I'm pleased with his work. His crew were proficient, neat and tidy. Everything was done in a timely manner. The workers were professional, clean & toook away all the boxes. We set a price for the job and he stayed with it, even coming out a couple of extra times and finishing up when we had some cabinets back-ordered (we ordered our cabinets through Home Depot and MGM did the install). We were very happy with the work and customer service of MGM's Cabinet Installation Service Owner Mike Moxley. We needed to replace a 40-year old funky rear door. Within a few hours of contacting Mike by phone he was at our house looking over the door, frame, and surrounding wall. He pointed out dry rot in the old frame and adjacent wall that would have to be fixed, which he did for no additional charge. He also made us aware of the many options we'd have to decide upon and how they'd affect the final cost. When he advised us to go to Lowe's over Labor Day weekend 2019 to make our choices he encouraged us to call him at home with any questions that might arise, which we did twice.
