Quality constructions mort artistic than just construction. Beautifully handmade cupboards and kitchen cabinets. Highly recommend.

Tried twice to schedule a site visit over text for a small project after speaking with Jesse over the phone. First time, no response. Second time, a time was scheduled but no one showed up. read more

De buena calidad el material y trabajo. Ethos Built helped us plan and rebuild our kitchen with real wood and custom built materials. Jesse was instrumental in visualizing and using quality materials with value throughout our long-term project. LOVE my new Italian-Mexican inspired kitchen! Gracias. read more

Ethos saved me a lot of money by educating me on exactly what I needed for a drawer. Very nice! I'm very thankful.

Ethos provided us with custom-built cabinets and vanity in our bathroom. We are very pleased with the results, the cabinets and vanity are beautiful and fit perfectly. Jesse told me up front to expect completion in a few months, and came in on the short end of what I would consider a few months. It was an enjoyable interaction with Jesse and his team. read more

Jesse and ethos built did an awesome job with our custom built in banquette seating. The workmanship is high and they did the job at a very reasonable rate. We had some challenges around schedules and timing but all in all I would definitely recommend ethos built if you're looking for any sort of carpentry / cabinet work. read more

I apologize for not writing this review sooner. Jesse and Jose are solid people. I tend to value people more than their work, but I didn't have to. It is little wonder that this company has a long (but well worth the wait) waiting list. Their work is next to none, and the price for the finished product is amazingly affordable. So, if you're in the market for new cabinets or a kitchen remodel, I would look no further and give Jesse and Jose a call. You won't regret it! I have posted some pictures of the finished cabinets; I love them!!! Cheers! read more

We hired Ethos Built for a huge kitchen cabinet project, including new base cabinets, 2 layers upper cabinets, pull out pantry, over fridge cabinets, a rolling cabinet to sit flush with the other base cabinets, and a seperate spice cabinet. Jesse helped us design the layout, talked us through options and possibilities, and was on board with all our specialty requests to maximize the space. The cost for the job was very reasonable for the scale of the job. The crew that came to do the install did excellent quality work. On top of the quality work, these are some of the nicest guys around. read more

My experience with Jesse and Ethos Built could not have been better in responsiveness, craftmanship and work ethic. I replaced my windows in our 104 year old craftsman house and rather than buy the prestained windows for the dining room and living room we decided to have someone come and stain them and also work on other parts of the gumwood window and door frames. That was a disaster. I called Jesse and he answered my call immediately and came over to take a look. He recommended a plan of action to restore this very old wood. His team of Jose and ultimately Claire properly sanded, stained and finished bringing the wood back to its proper color and texture. Jesse worked with us matching the color and many of our concerns. I will be happy to use him for any future projects. read more

Jesse and Ethos Built have helped us with several projects on our 100-year-old house in North Oakland. The projects that they have helped us with include a new bathroom, a re-built front porch, and an in-law unit renovation. Jesse is extremely competent and he runs a great crew with a good variety of skills and experience. They can do just about anything - including tiling, plumbing, and electrical - but he also has a excellent network of partners for tasks that he'd prefer to outsource. Jesse has a great sense of quality and craft, and he was very sensitive to our needs and desires throughout the projects. I work in the construction industry and have years of experience interacting with difficult contractors. Based on this experience, I can confidently say that Jesse is one of the "good" ones. He is honest and fair and extremely principled in the way that he runs his business. I strongly recommend Ethos Built for all of your home renovation needs. read more

Jesse assigned Jesus to remodel our half bathroom and full bathroom. Jesus, with daily support from Jesse, completed an amazing remodel of both rooms according to designs that I provided. In the full bath, the walk in shower with an infinity tile floor and drain was built where the bathtub was located. Jesus is a genius with the tiles. Jesse built a custom hanging vanity that turned out great. I suggest that you are clear on what you want done and let Jesse opine and improve. Ultimately, Jesse and his team aim to please his clients and I couldn't be happier with the result . Strongly recommended. read more

We had a great experience working with Ethos Built! They fixed a small but full bathroom and made it look modern and really nice. Jesse is upfront, hands-on, and very fair about pricing. He met with us several times before the project started and regularly stopped by to check in and make sure everything was going well. Jesse assigned Jesus to our bathroom, and he was awesome--on time every morning, hard-working, friendly, and effective. We're really pleased and are happy to recommend Ethos to others. -D & Y read more

Jesse is a committed and dedicated guy. He had said that he could help finish the project that I had in my backyard. When he saw the project and the issues it had, he didn't back away. He used his experience and 'know how' to get this project on the right track to actually make the idea of having an ADU become reality. He informed me of what the next steps were to continue having the project move forward. He was patient about answering any questions I had about what was going on. Now I know more about construction than I ever thought I would. He was easy to work with. So happy I worked with him and that the project is done. read more

We hired Ethos Built to help us refresh our bathrooms and their work exceeded out expectations. Jesse and Claire know how to focus on the small details that bring the final product to life. Claire did such a great job with the paint job. Not only are they highly dedicated and qualified but they also helped us craft a better product by providing honest advice/guidance. The bidding process was easy and we immediately felt comfortable - like we were working with friends. They would call us anytime they had questions or concerns and these were the opportunities to provide our personal tastes. The final product is one we can all be proud of. We liked their work so much that we have recommended their services to our closest friends and even hired them for a second job for our kitchen. We also love the fact that we are working with a local company and not some big nameless company. *Will edit this to add before/after photos* read more

We could not be happier with the work Jesse and his crew did for us. We're really glad we chose Ethos Built and will continue to work with them in the future; we recommend you do too. Our project involved designing and building an Arts & Crafts style fireplace to replace a strange "Frank Lloyd Wrong" thing erected in the 60s. The quote was very fair and in line with other contractors; but from the beginning, we could tell that Jesse was more invested in our project. He is more than a contractor, he's a craftsman and artist who really enjoys bringing his skills and experience to a job. Jesse was patient and easy to work with while we hammered out design ideas and material choices; he wasn't put off by the fact that we wanted to participate and even do some of the finish work ourselves. Jesse was generous with his experience and recommendations, but always open to our ideas and really partnered with us to make sure we would be happy with the outcome. The end result is a masterpiece and turned out better than our original design ideas. The Etos Built crew was also professional, on time, and careful to make sure everything was clean and packed up every day before leaving. Joe was especially skilled and a pleasure to work with. Finally, I'll say that working with Jesse was like working with a friend, so we didn't draw up a detailed plan or fill out a lengthy contract. I'm sure if we had asked for that it would have been provided, but Jesse rolled with our changes and kept to his original quote even when complications arose around demoing and restoring the old fireplace and floor, and making things fit in our crooked 98 year old house. read more

Jesse and his crew have done an extensive amount of work at our long-neglected Victorian in Oakland. Ethos is a full-service contractor--they can do anything. For us that meant plumbing, electrical, construction, drywall, window and floor installation, and more. Jesse is customer focused, and his guys are hardworking and helpful. I strongly recommend Ethos for your remodeling project, and I won't hesitate to work with them again. read more

Jesse and his crew did not disappoint. He quoted me a price with a timeline for replacing my deck in the backyard and finished 2 days sooner than expected. I hired him back recently to remodel my kitchen and I am so happy I did. Professional, great quality of work, and always kept me in loop when things came up. Thank you for my new kitchen and backyard! read more

We had a large four unit building that needed remodeling in preparation for sale. We contacted Ethos and boy are we glad we did. Jesse and his crew did a magical job. Given his artistic background, Jesse was able to help us select materials, colors and fixtures to best accentuate the place. The scope of the job included: recessed lighting, remodeling bathrooms, kitchens (including opening walls), paint, flooring, electrical, plumbing, and framing. Every aspect of the job was executed with care and attention. Much like you would expect if Jesse was doing a project in his own home. Ethos is easy to deal with, communicates well and you would be well served to have them help you with your next project. read more

I needed a custom cabinet for my small apartment. Jesse @ Ethos Built delivered. He is a true craftsman/woodworker and helped me with design as well. He has a real knack for choosing materials and color, producing exactly what I asked for. He's not cheap but worth every penny. The quality and artistry in his work is on point. The work took a little longer than I expected but only due to the difficulty of finding the right materials-and he doesn't skimp. I found him trustworthy, friendly and professional. Am already thinking of another project. Thanks Jesse! read more

We hired Ethos Built to remodel our house in Dublin before sale. They did an excellent job. The bidding process was thorough yet quick and we were left with a very clear understanding of what they intended to do and what it would cost. The work proceeded smoothly and they left the job site clean every day. The inevitable changes that came up along the way were handled smoothly and again, we were left with with a very clear impression of what our options were and how much it would cost. The finished product was as good or better than we expected, especially the hardwood floors. Most importantly, Jesse and Claire are nice, honest, hard working people, the kind it is a pleasure to do business with. We highly recommend Ethos Built and I plan to hire them again to do our residence. Thanks Claire and Jesse! read more

Kitchen flood caused by faulty faucet resulted in several cabinets, portions of the center island and part of the engineered hardwood floor needing replacement. All the contractors I spoke with (and all of my friends and family) advised that the best course of action was a complete kitchen remodel. Due to the small portion of the kitchen that was affected and the age of the house, insurance would only cover approximately 20% of the cost of a full remodel. Also, I was uncomfortable with the amount of waste involved with replacing the undamaged cabinets and countertops. After multiple search efforts, I finally found Ethos Built. Jesse was the only contractor who was willing to rebuild the damaged cabinets and match the finish to the remaining cabinets. Jesse built the cabinets and Jose did the majority of the installation. Project was much less invasive, took only two weeks instead of two months, and was much cheaper than a full remodel. Jesse responded quickly to all of my questions and he and his workers were very professional and accommodating throughout the install. Jose worked hard to minimize the disruption to our routines and to leave everything as functional and accessible as possible at the end of each day. He was also a good sport with three people being home to "supervise" all of his work. Cabinets and island have been repaired/replaced, new flooring was installed and I am very pleased with the result. read more
