Service was eh, really nothing special at all. I would say it felt more like fast food service with an extremely long wait time in an empty restaurant. The food, was eh, super Mid, I guess people in Chico have no experience with Mediterranean cuisine because this stuff was extremely mid to low mid. The octopus should have been boiled longer if it was at all because it wasn't tender, it was like it was just sautéed or grilled and served, super chewy. The platter served on bread was more show than flavor, though that could be said with almost everything we had, which was about 7 different items between me and my wife. We even had dessert, which was also eh. I'm in my mid 30's lived in Napa, Staged in Spain, Lived in New York, have a Turkish sister in law, eat everything as I'm Filipino. Friday treat, went for a late lunch/early dinner, this is the second time I've been to Meze Moon, went a couple weeks before today w my daughter on a dad daughter date, we both loved the food, atmosphere and the service, so today I figured I would return and had the shrimp kabob pictured and the grilled octopus appetizer, didn't get a pic of the octopus, both the meal and the appetizer were amazing, if you like octopus it's a must try! It was grilled perfectly, with a bit of char and served on a bed of lettuce, perfect add on to my shrimp entree! Meze Moon is a great new addition to the downtown restaurant scene, if you haven't tried them out I would highly recommend, the food is consistently good along w the wonderful personal service they provide. read more

The last 8 years I've been in Chico I've never had Mediterranean cuisine this good. We ordered the salmon kebob, lamb shank, and lentil soup, which paired perfectly with the soft complimentary bread. And please do yourself a favor and get the Mediterranean black tea at the end of your meal to wash everything down, you won't regret it. And to top it off, this place has the nicest bathroom I've ever been to lol. Fantastic restaurant ran by an incredibly wonderful group of people. My friends and I were wandering aimlessly through downtown on my partners birthday, we stopped to look at the menu as we could see the restaurant was having its opening day. The owner rushed out to let us know he's offering a great table for people with purple hair. From there he welcomed us in made us feel like family introduced us to his staff and turned me from someone indifferent towards lamb to someone who can't wait to come back for the Lamb Shanks next. The owner of this place is such a great host. He kept checking in on us making sure we were satisfied with everything! I can't even begin to define how incredible the food was. Everything was met to every detail of every serving. The meat tasted fresh and clean, which is so hard to find anywhere else. This Little Gem of a restaurant has me and my husband driving from Redding to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and fabulous food. The owner of this restaurant is so incredibly warm and friendly, and the service he provides makes you feel like family. After hearing about the new Mediterranean restaurant Meze Moon yesterday, my boyfriend and I decided we had to check it out for our date night. We arrived at 4 and the restaurant was empty, and remained empty until we had finished our main course. Emin, the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He escorted us to a table by the window, explaining that a romantic dinner means sitting next to each other and facing the window. He explained every part of the appetizer sampler platter we ordered, and offered a reading of my boyfriend's coffee grounds, which was very entertaining. While pursuing the menu, Emin poured our water (and left a bottle, much needed today!)and brought a basket of bread and a garlicky herb butter. For the appetizer, we ordered the Meze Moon combo plate - hummus, baba ghanoush, tzatziki, dolma, falafel, fried feta, sigar borek, tabouki, olives, and a tomato, bell pepper and onion relish. Every item on the plate was delicious, i think my favorites were the sigar borek (spinach and feta wrapped in filo dough) and the falafel with tzatziki. Our entrées were beef & lamb gyro and salmon kebab plates. Both were extremely flavorful. The salmon was tender and juicy, but crisp on the edges. The gyro meat was cut from whole pieces of meat, not a ground mixture. The salad was dressed with a light lemony vinaigrette At Emin's recommendation, we ordered Turkish coffee while looking over the dessert menu. We settled on kunefe - sweet Lebanese cheese in shredded filo dough, baked and finished in a sweet syrup. The coffee was very strong (huge plus for me), but smooth and not as bitter as I expected. It was a perfect complement to the kunefe, which was a great balance of sweet and salty. The syrup was just the right level of sweet and didn't overwhelm the other flavors. This meal was by far the best food we've had at a restaurant in months. Every individual item was flavorful and well-balanced. We will definitely be back very soon! read more

For an appetizer we shared the Meze Moon combo platter and devoured every bite. I especially enjoyed the babaganoush, delicious! We each tried a gyro, I ordered the chicken and the hubby went with the beef/ lamb. They were both very flavorful only I would have liked more sauce, like a ton of their delicious tzatziki on it. We received a complimentary dessert plate with the most melt in your mouth baklava I've ever had, the chocolate was almost sinful, the pistachio was a nutty savory treat.
