Worst experience I've ever had at Mezcal. Been here several times over the past few years and live in the neighborhood. Manager would not adjust the check to reflect errors on happy hour prices and had to argue with manager just to get the Taco Tuesday price adjusted. Was told price couldn't be adjusted as it ends at six which made no sense at all, especially when the menu said "all-day". Once we did pay we had to ask for our change back, and manager wouldn't even come over and take our check or give us our change. We sat there for twenty minutes waiting to leave once we paid and asked for change back. Horrible experience and manager was awful. Waitress was nice. read more

Wow! Great atmosphere, great food and a yummy house Margarita . Our waitress recommended the number 2 combo. She was spot on. The sauce on the chili relleno - superb. I really don't understand the one- and two-star reviews. I have been here twice and it was a fantastic experience each time. Not being a big drinker, I am definitely someone who evaluates restaurants primarily on food quality and value, and Mezcal delivers. Their brunch is phenomenal, you don't have to wait for an hour just to be seated, and it's reasonably priced as well. As far as I'm concerned, this is the brunch trifecta that one doesn't encounter very often in Denver. I have had the chilaquiles and the breakfast tacos and would gladly eat each dish every day if I could. It's a ton of food as well and I usually have enough for two meals. read more

I'm told the Margarita is mighty mean, but I'm not a drinker so I can't vouch. The fella poured a heck of a 7up while we sat at the bar and waited for our table somewhere else, and I really liked the vibe. You know those really pretentious spots where they take the food and drink all too seriously? This isn't that. You know those spots where they really should take things a little more seriously, and like, you know, clean the floor? This wasn't that, either. This was a nice balance of come-as-you-are and not-just-anything-goes. They say they have a mean breakfast dish or two, but we had plans elsewhere. If anything, this may be a little on the kitsch side of Mexican food, but I kinda dig it. The restroom art was... uh... enlightening (where does one even purchase Spanish language adult comics?) so they're not exactly marching out the mariachi bands. I'd come back to dabble in the food. The chill tempo of that morning was the big allure. Our tender was friendly but not obnoxious, and we could carry on a nice conversation and contemplate the day's adventures. Overall the experience was good the food came out fast and was tasty! It was not very busy on a Friday afternoon so we were able to get seated quickly. This place is great for brunch on the weekends if you want to drink bottomless mimosas. They even have several flavors and you can have them bring a pitcher to your table or get individual ones. They also allow you to switch up the flavor. That being said, the food is overall quite mediocre in terms of brunch. I have heard that their taco Tuesday is totally worth checking out for $1 tacos, though. I tried one night with my friend, but the host told us the kitchen was an hour behind on orders, so we didn't stay. I'll definitely return earlier on a Tuesday to check them out. read more

I've pretty much only been for Taco Tuesday, so here's a review for the most glorious food day of the week :) I've been coming here almost every week with my bf since our first date at this very same place about 11 mos ago. The tacos are good, so don't be weary about the price. I've had all of them. Every once in a while I feel like I'm given less in my tacos or the chips are a bit chewy instead of crunchy, but this is rare. Overall food things are delicious. The mixed drinks I haven't been too impressed with. Some of that is because a lot of them have a smoky flavor and I'm just not a fan of that. make sure to clarify before you get one if you don't like that. We've gotten to know some of the staff by name and it gives me that smaller town feel. I haven't been to all the taco Tuesdays, but in my opinion, this is the best one for price and quality. read more

We came here after going to the museum, and it was incredible. The chips and guac were tasty. I had the breakfast burrito, and it was terrific (vegetarian). Good prices for happy hour. Street tacos were $2 ea, cheese fries were $5, snack size carne asada quesadilla $3.50, michelada $4 pacifico $4. Food temp was warm, chili cheese fries were seasoned curly fries, beer was super cold. Service was ok a little slow and it wasn't busy but they had sufficient staff. Quirky and fun on the inside. I would go with the carne asada again, chicken was meh, fries weren't great unless you like Arby's seasoned curly fries then you would really like them . read more

My boyfriend and I came for lunch today, 9-13-16 Atmosphere: bright, cheery and colorful. Many Moroccan style lamps hanging inside the restaurant. The art and prints on the wall are large and vibrant so the place gets you in the mood for margaritas and tacos. Mezcal also features a patio along the front of it for those days where sitting outside is a must. The service was friendly and attentive. I had a margarita and it was tasty and delicious. Not too sweet or artificial, very yummy. It is Tuesday and at it was $1 tacos. One dollar. They were legit. No iceberg lettuce or crappy shredded cheese. Just lovely ingredients prepared with flavor and texture that is hard to beat. TACO TUESDAY IS THE BEST. Come to Mezcal if you want really great tacos in a fun atmosphere. Shout out to Nick at the bar for the great service! **Update** Came back for happy hour on a Thursday in September and we sat outside, the weather was gorgeous. The guac is damn good as are the chips. The margaritas are really delicious! Not too sweet and the salt on the rim is so flaky and delicious! This should be .5 star. This was the worst place to eat or have a drink or enjoy yourself. The .5 is because they were the only place available. Everywhere was packed. This place had 3 outside tables for seating and only 1 person who works there. The QR code doesnt work, so when the waiter did make it eventually and then left to get menus. We order everything at once, when he finally returned. He did not come back for 30 minutes. We got the salsa flight and food & cocktails. After 30 minutes a kitchen staff came with our food. Looked good. But where is our chips & salsa and mostly margaritas?! The waiter gets completely humiliated by a group of customers about the service. Lets just say we were outside in the cold for over an hour before he remembered we exsisted and then we asked for our drinks. Long story. I would never ever return. The food was edible. Looking for a GREAT margaritas??? Come here !!! The drinks were nice and strong and refreshing. I had a chili relleno a la carte and it was heaven. My combo plate was very tasty, though I wasn't very impressed with the tamale. The service was OK, not great - the waiter wasn't very impressed with life in general I don't think. The absolute best part of the meal, and the thing that is going to have me coming back again and again was the dessert - I didn't order it so I don't even know what it was called, but it was this amazing crepe and caramel dish with ice cream. I don't know the last time I wrote a review, but I was in there earlier tonight for taco Tuesday and I happen to notice the two, what seemed as twin brothers working as hard as they possible could even in the chaos. The waitress took our order, the food came, but the waitress never came back to check to ensure everything was good. I requested napkins and never got them, and my boyfriends food was incorrect. This place is trying to sell you on their ambiance and decor. They really did a good job making it look inviting from the outside. Inside, well, it's no less inviting - I liked the lay out and the decor. It has a pretty good vibe to it as well. The problem is that I have a hard time justifying so much money on dishes or drinks I could have at other Mexican restaurants. For instance, the asada tacos were about $10 or so for three of them. The problem is that they were street tacos. Asada street tacos run $1-$1.50 each. And the drinks - margaritas or otherwise - are about $8 an up. I'd probably willingly pay for that at an upscale spot but this place just doesn't justify to me personally. Obviously, they need to make a profit but if these prices were lower I'd definitely come back but there are other places I could go instead for much less. read more

There are those places that fill a spot in a neighborhood or community and when it's not there - well, there is a void. Mezcal is one of those spots and we are so glad they are back!! Management and culinary team are most definitely working in tandem and it shows in the service and the food. Warm chips with just the right amount of salt - two different salsa that were both delicious and flavorful without tons of heat. House Mezcal Marg, Paloma and Sangria - all fresh and spot on. Roasted Padron Peppers are my favorite things ever!!! Queso Fundido was flavorful and layered with smokey goodness. Not a huge serving and I appreciate that with Queso Fundido because otherwise we keep eating it! Pupusas with a lightly pickled slaw were tasty and made from scratch. Entrees that we tried were Carne Asada Tacos, Pork Belly Tacos and the Chile Rellano. All fresh, filling, served with rice and beans. The black beans were some of the best I have ever had and the refried beans are made with duck fat so they are amazing. Shared a sopapilla with Ice Cream family-style that was a great way to end the night!! Hip interior with lots to check out on the walls - staff was super attentive and happy to be there. read more

I got the Tacos Al Pastor and they had great flavor!!! I also like that they serve them in a soft corn tortilla. I love soft corn tortillas!!! The rice though was okay and the beans tasted good but they were cold by the time I got to them. They were probably hot when they came out but I was just so into the tacos. Finally the service was great!!! Super friendly and our waitress Anna Marie was awesome, so freaking friendly. Will definitely come back for more. P.S. The chips and salsa are delicious. I'm not really sure why this place has such low reviews, my experience here was pretty solid. We started with some drinks and munched on some chips and salsa. They were both okay, nothing to write home about. I ordered a mojito which was solid but la rumba was the real treat. It was like a Mexican Moscow Mule with jalapeño tequila, very tasty. For food, I tried various tacos.I think the fish taco was particularly tasty and I had the Mexican paella for my main meal. I was a bit hesitant to order it, but very glad I did. It packed a lot of flavor and was a very big portion size. I will say, the chicken in there was a bit dry, but overall it was a solid dish. Not sure if I would go out of my way to go back to Mezcal, because for me all Mexican is more or less the same, but if I was in the neighborhood I would revisit for sure. read more

I'm glad we came to this restaurant. We came in from Houston and we were starving. The portions are generous and their staff is very friendly! I got the enchiladas (carne Asada and chicken Tinga) with the pork verde salsa. It was very delicious! The salsa was spicy and had great flavor. We also got our food quickly. The chicken had a great flavor, the sides were good and just enough and there were 4 tortillas, just enough to finish off the dish. I also ordered a chicken taco which was a major disappointment, It had a flavor that was not to my taste and was nothing more than a small tasteless appetizer that detracted from the fajitas. Also, the usual chips and salsa were not forthcoming, seems you have to order and pay for these (a real detractor). Service was good, got food quickly. I've now made a return trip to Mezcal for the purpose of a varsity day-drink, and for this, they knocked it out of the park. Their Happy Hour specials were very decent and the bartender made a good margarita. They do have an EXCELLENT selection of tequila at reasonable prices. And the best part is, they have a great traditional sangrita (NOT sangria) to accompany your tequila. It's rare to find a place that makes a good, spicy sangrita. So in summation, I'm still underwhelmed with the food, but as a day-drinking spot, Mezcal is the cat's pajamas. read more
