We always start with the nachos with chorizo. A crowd favorite. Nice heat and great flavors. Went for the steak enchiladas with salsa verde. Their salsa verde is so good and addictive. Vibrant, full of flavor with an excellent heat. My fiance had the chorizo burrito with maduros. The maduros were perfection. Worth the trip if you can come and try.

Upon arriving home, the grilled meat was delicious and plentiful. There was enough for left overs as the meat was folded in half in the tin. I chose the sides of frijoles (beans) and maduros (sweet plantain). I am a fan of a hint of spice and it should be noted the beans were seasoned with a hint of spiciness. I am looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

For food, my group stuck with the beef, opting for the birria and NY strip steak tacos. Both were very tasty, and made even better with the spicy housemade salsas. The drinks may have been the highlight. I recommend the Volcan in particular. It's a very cessionable and refreshing summery mezcal drink, that could charm even the non-mezcal crowd. I also appreciated that they made a special tiny cheese quesadilla for my one-year old. The bill was high enough that it made me double check the math, and I wish that the taco dishes came with some type of side for $20+ a pop, but overall, Ayy Chihuahua is good enough that I'd come back again, at least for another round of drinks.

Surprisingly, it is a dish that is hard to find in the Flushing/Fresh Meadows area especially in a sit down, comfortable restaurant. The Chilaquiles was a nice little plate of deliciousness - I loved the tangy green salsa soaked bed of tortilla with nicely fried over easy eggs (they way I ordered it). A fan of avocado, tomato and onions top the dish as well - it comes with a side of rice and beans. I recently returned when I was in the mood for enchiladas - they have combo option with beef, chicken and cheese. I ordered them divorced style with both red and green salsa. It comes blanketed with a shredded lettuce salad with tomato, onions and avocado. Rice and beans round out the dish. A couple of other dishes I tasted were the eggs with chorizo and the chimichanga - both were very good. I love their house salsas both a dark red and green one. They bring out tortilla chips with a thick salsa that is tomato-ey sweet. They have a full bar if you are so inclined and the service is very good here.

Not fluent in English, but very friendly service. They have an extensive menu! They give complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is a sweet tomato-y salsa and the chips are crisp. The Chimichanga with Cecina (Salted Beef) was stuffed! Crisp fried exterior, covered in flavorful red (tomato-y) and green (herb-y) sauces. The cecina is perfectly salted. I enjoyed the guac and chips (same as the complimentary chips) and pico on the side added freshness. They also have a house red and green sauce, which have a good kick and flavor to them. The Pineapple Juice is the right amount of sweetness and tart. I like that there's no ice so it's a full glass of juice! Overall a neat local spot to hit up for good food and friendly service (and a full bar!).

Finally I got to go with an old friend who I had a bad falling out with, so this meal was more important than just getting fed. Our whole relationship was on the line. There's no better way to start a painful reunion than to get some random (included) starter snack, accompanied by three unique sauces, and two coconut margaritas. Immediately upon tasting the margaritas, we knew our friendship would make it out of the meal. For appetizers, we got today's special - Tuna Ceviche - that was genuinely a blast of flavors. All I remember is there's a yuzu sauce amongst other ingredients. The dish was tiny but tasted incredible. We also got the Ensalada de Betabel con Jicama, another fabulous dish full of beets and jicama, and their guacamole. Now I thought the guacamole was a little bland, but it was definitely fresh. For entrees, we split the Mole de Piaxtla and the Tacos de Carne Asada. Flavorwise, I was a little disappointed in both. The meat in the tacos was incredible, but as a dish it felt incomplete. I did really enjoy the Mole but honestly I never gravitate towards it so even if it was A+ I don't think I'd really appreciate it. That being said, I have had better (in CDMX). Before we dug in to the entrees, we dug into the truth of our distance and really acknowledged how special it was to come over food like this. Now, we were so full at this point that even though everything tasted good nothing tasted good. We also were distracted by someone dressed up as the michelin man coming in and vlogging the restaurant. We ate as much as we could and the service gave us a little break to continue chatting. Upon their return, we ordered two more margaritas and a tres leches. Again, the margaritas were fire and the tres leches was a perfect end to the meal. A beautiful meal, beautiful restaurant, great drinks, and the preservation of a long time friendship. Does it get better than this?

We got the ceviche de pescado, which was the best dish by far and extremely delicious and sour. The fish was perfectly cooked in the lime juice too. We also got guacamole, which was simple and not exciting. Overpaid on this one for sure. For mains my fiancee got tacos al pastor and they were good, but not differentiated from any other al pastor tacos I've gotten. Key difference is they were $9 per taco! I got the Carnitas dish and it was really good. Some tender pieces, some a bit too firm, all slow cooked with no browned/crisped exterior. For $40 I'd expect way better, but it was still good with the pickled carrot and onions and salsas. Wait staff was very friendly, could have been a bit more attentive to our drinks, but not an issue. The vibes in outdoor seating were good (music was inside only). Aguachile cocktail was on point and my michelada was solid. I would give Casa Enrique 4 stars if either the prices were a bit more reasonable or the quality was a level higher, but as is I was not really impressed and I'm not keen to come back.
