This was my first time using a full-service moving company, and Metropolis was absolutely fantastic all the way through. When I spoke to them on the phone, they were both professional and conversational, and they accommodated all of my requests and questions with ease. Their price was fair, and they allowed me to add items until 3pm the day before the move. I added a few larger items, and the additional price they charged was also very fair and minimal. Also, I wanted to move on Dec 23rd, and they were able to accommodate this request even though it was very close to Christmas. Jake and Kavan were my movers on the day and were super friendly, efficient, professional, and flexible from the very beginning. I was really stressed out about moving to a different state, and they helped me feel comfortable that everything would go smoothly. They wrapped all my furniture/large items effectively, and nothing was broken during the move. They moved my entire apartment into their truck in about 2 hours. I was so impressed with how quickly and safely they moved everything out. They listened to all my concerns and took extra care with the items I was most worried about. They arrived at my new apartment even more quickly than expected (literally less than 10 minutes after I arrived). Not only did they move everything in with the same speed and efficiency as the move-out, but they also helped me brainstorm where each piece of furniture should go and put them in the exact right place. As soon as they were done, they asked if I needed anything else and were on their way after I gave them their tip. Also, Metropolis came back again to help my roommate move the next week and they executed his move with the same professionalism and quality as mine (so that's 2 examples of great moving experiences). Ask for Cliff, Bryan and Joaquin! AND DARRYL! This our family's 3rd time working with Metropolis and honestly Uzi and his team must have magic in that place. Every mover I've worked with from here has been kind, courteous and above all empathetic during each move. Our family was moving out of my wife's childhood home filled with memories and keepsakes from 50+ years of living! We also had a very difficult situation as we had stuff set to go to a storage unit for my in-laws and other stuff going to our new home in Jersey. Unfazed Bryan, Cliff and Joaquin worked tirelessly to get the truck packed to the brim with all of our things safely. On top of all of this they helped us get rid of things we didn't want in the home we were moving into. Can't stress enough how impressed I am with how this company assures they send out kind, empathetic and dedicated movers that know not only how to lift heavy things but handle the emotional gravitas some moves come with. Seriously ask for Cliff, Bryan and Joaquin you can't get any luckier with great movers or great people! Wow we had a ton of stuff and filled a whole truck! We were in a tough spot because my in-laws house was closing in less than 3 days! I don't enjoy reading long reviews, but this one turned into one. . . . From the office guys (Zach, Uzi) to the team I've dubbed The Dynamic Duo (Paulie, Johan), I had a terrific experience with Metropolis. I've moved so often, one would think I have bad credit or am on the run. Metropolis is quick to respond to inquiries and provides up-to-the-day updates via e-mail. The process is efficient, as setup occurs online. As for my move, it had two pick-ups and one drop-off. Paulie and Johan arrived on time, and The Dynamic Duo were quick and efficient. When I fell off (went to the bank to get cash, forgot the storage-unit key, arrived later than anticipated at the storage unit, had to have the storage lock drilled), The Dynamic Duo remained calm, patient, and professional. When I finally obtained access to the storage unit, I had more items than I remembered storing and more than I had declared for the move. Paulie and Johan didn't blink and got to work. They were funny and considerate. Who knew movers could be fair and moving doesn't have to result in pulling one's hair out?! I got two quotes, and Metropolis's first quote was comparable and (I think?) cheaper than the discounted (second) quote from the other moving company. We had a great overall experience with Metropolis Moving. Starting the process with Corey, doing the initial walkthrough to make sure all of our inventory was accounted for and properly quoted and making sure we had adequate packing supplies was incredibly smooth. His communication was excellent from that beginning point all the way through to moving day, when he even checked in on the crew to make sure everyone knew what the plan for the day was. Our move involved two trucks with a main collection location and a second stop collection. The moving crew itself was fantastic! Led by Mr. Eddie, they were hardworking, polite, and efficient throughout a stressful day. They packed our property incredibly well, and Mr. Eddie kept us constantly updated on when to expect the second truck to meet up with the rest of the team at our delivery location. They were also more than happy to adjust and move things around if we weren't completely satisfied with the layout before unpacking and assembling everything. During the move, a deep scratch unfortunately happened on our hardwood floor from a dresser. While the claims process took a few weeks to fully review and coordinate, Corey stood behind the company's policy and fully reimbursed us for the repair costs. Accidents happen during moves, and it's rare to find a moving company with this level of integrity. Would highly recommend them for their transparency, organization, and care! read more

A friend recommended this company and it is the best moving decision I have ever made! I didn't have a ton of things to move, but I do own two large mid-century pieces that are very awkward. Friends offered assistance, but once I looked at renting a truck and exploiting the generosity of others, it made sense to have someone else do it. Metropolis makes it all incredibly easy. I filled out the form on the website, and they responded almost immediately with a quote and time window. Very very affordable! Ahead of the appointment, I received confirmation on who would be moving me and when, then the day of I received a call to let me know when they would arrive (perfectly punctual). All my possessions we moved swiftly, and fragile items were wrapped and protected. I rode over to the new place with them (Matt and Jakob), and proceeded to have a great conversation with these incredibly friendly and interesting guys. Everything was unpacked in the new place swiftly and intact. It was so much faster and safer than if I had asked a couple friends to move the big pieces. Probably the longest part of the whole experience was the drive between the two apartments - but again, it was filled with lovely conversation so great! I loved working with these guys from start to finish. I was worried it would be hard to find a NYC moving company willing to move me from Brooklyn upstate to Beacon. I also expected to be quoted some astronomical amount, but their flat fee is was great. I like the transparency of the flat fee because there isn't any little sneak add-ons. They give you up to 24 hours before your actual move to adjust your inventory and then get you the new quote super fast. Everyone I interacted with was kind and extremely cool. During the initial video walk through of my apartment, I think sensing my general anxiety about moving, Barry said, "You're doing great Sarah". Moving is just hell, there's no way around it, but their chill approach to everything kept my blood pressure down! The move out was flawless, and SO fast. These dudes are such hard workers and kind to boot! My one word of advice to you as the one moving is to be a considerate packer. Label things well, make a very clear and honest inventory, and have everything ready to go with clear access for them the day of the move. From beginning to end, this company did me right. They were always there to answer my calls and address my concerns, which was very unique for a moving company. But that's the whole point. They're more than just a moving company. They're good people who strive to do great work. And boy did they! They handled our furniture and delicate/priceless possessions with the utmost care. Not one thing was broken or even scratched, including and especially the piano. The price was incredible and beat every other company without compromising the service. But even if they were more expensive, I would have paid it because they're that good. Mostly, though, I was so impressed with their personnel, who were friendly and insanely quick and we'd like to be friends with all of them: Eddie, Zach, Erik, John, and Steve. Oh, Steve. He's the humble leader and treats the job like his life depends on it. The. There's the guys in the office like Barry, Jake and Corey. All awesome. What an absolute pleasure and extreme stress reliever to have had these guys on the job. Though I hope to never move again, I'd hire Metropolis again in a minute if I did. Really great experience with Metropolis, over multiple encounters/moves, both for moving almost an entire apartment, and also having a piece of furniture delivered from a store. Very reasonable rates, prompt responses, clear communication. Very nice guys, thorough. They wrap everything very carefully and really take the time to make sure everything goes exactly where you want it, and they help assemble furniture carefully. I had a giant piece of furniture that did not quite fit around the curve of the top of my stairs, but on first attempt, they really tried everything they could to get it into my apartment. When we realized it was not going to fit, they offered to store the piece at their facility so that I could have a contractor take down my railing, and they later delivered the piece successfully on a different day. Very heavy/large piece, but nothing was damaged. Honest, capable, strong, nice, careful, real people. It feels as if you are dealing with actual humans and not a company. This company was highly recommended to me by a co-worker who used them during the summer. I looked around at many other moving companies based on recommendations from friends, but each company was double or triple the price that was quoted to me by Metropolis, so I went with them. My decision was great. Matt was extremely professional and timely in his responses when I inquired about the price. Also, he was able to accommodate me even though I had only reserved less than a week before (and at the end of the month). The price never changed ether, even though I added on (and e-mailed) a few extra boxes the day before my move. My movers were Chris and Mikko, and they were fantastic! They called me with their ETA before arriving and even waited in the truck for about 15 minutes (while I was finishing up a few boxes). They quickly and professionally wrapped and moved of my furniture, and were extremely fast. They were also really friendly and accommodating! It was overall a great experience. Metropolis Moving is unbeatable. We moved our 1-bedroom apartment from Queens to Buffalo, and I am so glad we chose Metropolis Moving. They were the quickest to get back to us with a (reasonable) quote, and answered all my questions with speed and clarity. It was no problem to update our inventory as the day got closer. Our team of Cristian, Eddie, and Ryan showed up on time and quickly moved all of our stuff on to the truck with care and efficiency. After they headed out they kept me posted on their progress, and since they beat us to our destination they met with a family member at our new home. They put everything in the apartment sensibly and carefully. There was a problem with our bank at the time of payment while we were driving up and Metropolis Movers were patient while we resolved it. We are almost done unpacking and the only items damaged are the ones we brought ourselves in our car. We heard so many horror stories from friends about their movers, but this move couldn't have gone better. Don't stress out about picking Metropolis- they are the real deal. After using Metropolis for my most recent move, I've decided I'll never go through the hassle of moving on my own again. From beginning to end the experience and service were absolutely fantastic. Their website is well designed, easy to use, and takes all the guesswork out of inventory listing. Matt responded to my quote request within an hour, and they were willing to help me meet my budget. For a move on the Saturday before Easter during a peak moving period, their price was beyond reasonable. They said they'd arrive between 2 and 5, and on the day of the move they called before 2 to let me know they were close by. Matt and Chris were really nice and professional, and they made quick work of our fairly large 2 bedroom inventory. We have a lot of large, fragile, and oddly shaped furniture/belongings, but they were careful about making sure everything was protected well. Sure enough, everything made it over safely without a single break, scratch, etc. Overall Metropolis made our move as painless as a New York move can be - I'll definitely be recommending them to everyone I know! read more

We moved from an apartment in Manhattan to a house in Ct. We have moved several times and it usually very stressful, but Metropolis moving made it super easy! From getting the initial quote, to adjusting it as we began to pack, Olivia was attentive and thorough every step of the way. And on the day of moving, we definitely got their A-team! Jakob led the effort, reviewing our list and checking to see that every item was accounted for. He then ensured that every piece of furniture was carefully covered and sealed for a safe move. Darryl and Fred did an amazing job lugging our furniture out of the apartment, and then lugging it into our house. Some of it was heavy and some of needed extra special attention...and every piece got to where it needed to go without a single issue! Most importantly, to me, were their smiles and upbeat attitudes. Metropolis movers are the BEST!!! We just hired them to move us from Greenpoint to Crown Heights. I initially worked with Uziel to book the move and hammer out the details regarding the price and inventory. He was very patient and kind. He answered every question very quickly and made adjustments in the quote as moving day approached and my inventory changed. The night before the move he sent an email confirming the job with the names of my moving team and a cell phone number to use to contact them directly. The weather on the day of the move could not have been worse, cold and rainy. However, Jakob and Chris could not have been nicer. They texted us when they were en route. They arrived on time and were extremely professional and courteous, careful and efficient. Our move was done in record time in spite of the four flights on either end. Excellent service for a very reasonable price. The best bang for your buck in my opinion. Metropolis was extremely communicative and quick to respond leading up to the move. It was very easy changing/adding inventory and scheduling a time slot. Our movers, Cody, Klaude, Cathal were punctual and extremely professional. They were quick, efficient, personable and very accommodating. They helped us wrap up drawers, brought blankets to wrap up electronics, helped us take our TV mount down and supplied tools we needed but didn't have. They had everything in our 3 bed 2 bath 3rd floor walk up in the truck within 2 hours. They were as accommodating dropping off the bins, helping move couches where we wanted and putting bins in the correct bedrooms. We moved a lot of glassware, plates, bowls, mugs and not a single thing broke. Total time from pick up to drop off took just under 4 hours. I've used a lot of moving companies over the years, and Metropolis isn't just a little better than the rest -- it's a difference in kind, not degree. From my first call with the front office through the final walk-through, everything was handled with a level of professionalism I honestly didn't expect from a moving company. The quote was a fixed fee, and it stayed a fixed fee -- no last-minute add-ons, no "oh, we forgot to mention" charges. The back office coordinated everything exactly as promised, and the moving team itself was excellent: efficient, careful with our stuff, and genuinely pleasant to have in our space during a stressful day. What stood out most was the total absence of surprises. Everything happened when they said it would happen, the way they said it would happen. I couldn't have dreamed of a better / faster and easier move. The company and team made it easy on a day that usually turns hectic. We moved from 1 bed walk-up apartment in midtown to new jersey suburbs. The Metropolis crew runs an efficient show with nearly immediate responses to questions about pricing, timing and packing; and quick updates to the inventory up to the day before. The moving crew that helped us - Bryan, Jesse, and Kavan - worked fast and efficiently. They seamlessly moved 30 boxes and furniture (some bulky pieces) from a 6th floor walk-up into a truck and had us on our way in 2.5hr as promised. The unpacking flew by under an hour. They were mindful of carrying boxes to the right rooms and made sure to clarify things like "which bathroom" / "which closet". And of course - all items arrived safely without any damage, even flimsier Ikea shelves. We moved a couple of months ago between NYC apartments and had a fantastic experience with Metropolis! The quote was accurate, and we ended up having to adjust it during the week of the move, which was made easy. *Of note, this was the lowest quote we got from several different moving companies, by a lot! On moving day, they showed up exactly on time, took inventory, and quickly moved all of our stuff into the truck. They make it easy by allowing you to have items that don't fit in boxes. For example, I had a fragile lamp they individually wrapped and placed in a bin. The stuff arrived quickly up at our new place, and they were helpful in putting our furniture in the proper rooms etc. From start to finish, the whole move took less than 3 hours!! The whole experience was carefree (something I don't take for granted with the moving process). If I need to move again, I will definitely plan to use Metropolis. read more

The list of positives I'd like to say about Metropolis Moving is almost too much to mention here but I'll give it a try. For starters, the guys provided the promptest responses to email inquiries about moving, including a quote that accurately reflected my final bill. On move day, they arrived on time, took a few minutes to go over everything with me regarding fragile items, and were extremely careful with ALL the contents of my apartment. Moving is stressful under any circumstances, but the guys' ability to communicate clearly with me from start to finish really put me at ease. Because I was storing items in a garage, they took the time to come up with a strategy to create easy paths to boxed items, including stacking what I'd need soon in easy to reach spots. Talk about stress relievers! These guys are it. When it's time to move back they'll be the first ones I call. Use them. You won't regret it. read more
