Went on a late weekday morning. Excellent service. Classic diner vibes. Classic diner menu. Great prices. Highly recommend.

Today was our first time visiting Metro diner and I was excited seeing that it was pretty busy. However, I feel like they didn't meet my expectations especially for what we paid. The kids meals were perfect for the price, we ordered egg, pancakes, fruit and bacon. I think them charging 1.25 to add a few chocolate chips to the pancakes is pretty steep considering it's 3 little kids pancakes. The main breakfast was okay, the eggs had no salt or flavor, the biggest disappointment was the home fries. They were super dark and had a really bad burnt taste. After waiting for about 30 mins for the food that was really upsetting to even bother to send it back. The fruity waffle was pretty good but the croissant French toast were flavorless and very dry. For me this was definitely a one time stop. read more

Another great trip to Metro Diner! Service is always friendly with good recommendations. We both enjoyed turkey this trip. He had the turkey pot pie, which was delish (yes I grabbed a few bites!). I had the turkey dinner with all the trimmings and of course my sleepiness after dinner was testimony to how good the meal was. Météo Diner is never a wrong move in my mind! read more

I stopped by for breakfast after a nearby appointment. Ordered the seasonal blueberry lemon pancakes that came with blueberry butter which I requested to have on the side along with a side of turkey sausage. Everything was delicious. The blueberry butter exceeded my expectations and the pancakes actually have real blueberries. Not from a can or can blueberry sauce pored on top. Very plump & fresh. Not the friendliest staff, but professional. The gentleman who seated me was the exception and the friendliest in the restaurant from the two visits I've made. One recommendation for management, PLEASE replaced the soiled ceiling tiles. Very off putting for a dining establishment. I do recommend this location to dine. I'm looking forward to trying their lunch one day. Hopefully the ceiling tiles will be replaced before my next visit. read more

One of my favorite places to visit when I come to this area. Chelsea our waitress was spectacular. She made suggestions & told us what she liked when we were undecided about a particular choice. We had chicken & waffles but plain waffles was substituted out for the blueberry lemon. We also had the croissant French toast, breakfast with scrambled eggs and cheese, and then a side of bacon. Everything was delicious as planned. The service was quick and we were in and out with no wait. We visited on a Monday morning around 11 AM. Would highly recommend any day of the week. read more

Cooking wit Prim Hot or it's not Hot Review: Taste: 8.5 Presentation: 8.5 Price: $ Item: Chicken and Waffles Food: The chicken was perfectly cooked and had good crispy crunch, lightly seasoned but not bland. A half of a and came with a spicy sauce that was bearable and not extremely hot, although it didn't look great it tasted good. The waffle was delicious and came with a strawberry colored type of butter that was on point. I mixed it with regular butter too, syrup was also delicious. #cookingwitprim. Atmosphere: I sat at the bar, not much space there but, made it work, there was only three seats there but you can see the kitchen and the cooks working, that's always pretty cool. Can't comment on the tables too much but they looked typical from the bar. Service/Staff: Waiter was pleasant and efficient, cooks also engaged with customers seated near the bar It's Hot but Not Hot @cookingwitprim read more

Metro diner was introduced to me on a quick weekend trip and I had a good feeling about it solely off of how busy it was which isn't a bad thing. Business may be booming but they get you in and out quick without suffering the quality of their food. Chicken and waffles was what was recommended and the flavor was on point seasoned to a tee; the hash browns didn't disappoint neither. Their mimosa flight was solid, almost wanted another one but I had to behave honestly. Overall the atmosphere was really homey of course and Id love to make another trip soon. read more

This is my favorite diner to get breakfast food! Since they closed the one in Richmond, on my way back home from going out of town; I remembered metro diner was in the area and we stopped by to get some food. It was exactly how I remembered it! There was a small wait, it gets really busy in the mornings. We sat down maybe after 20 minutes. Got the mimosa flight and some chicken and waffles with hash browns. The waffles are sooo good and I love the strawberry butter they put on top. Chicken was cooked perfectly and tasted great! It really reminds me of an old school family owned diner and I always feel comfortable there. I'm so glad I am reunited with this gem. Every time I'm in Fredericksburg I am definitely going to stop by! read more

Ate here today at about noon. They really weren't busy and had at least 10 tables open. After a brief wait we were seated at a table for two. It had a ceiling fan blowing at full speed as all their ceiling fans were on at high speed. It was comfortable outside so between the air conditioning and fans it was cold inside with a fan blowing right above our table. My husband asked the host could they turn the fan down as he tried but at 6'2 he couldn't quite reach it. The hostess came by and said someone would take care of it. We sat there eventually our food came we ate and I went outside while my husband waited on an paid the bill. No one ever attempted to turn off that fan. I don't need to eat in a restaurant that can at least turn down the ceiling fan that's blowing at high speed on me and my food. I only ate less than half my food because it got cold fast! You have air conditioning cooling the restaurant do you need ceiling fans blowing on high too?. It wasn't 90-100 degrees today in was upper 70's I'll find other places to eat that don't serve you in a freezer. read more

Terrible service. Waitress spent her time talking to other employees. Never refilled my coffee or asked about the food. Said she was going to get coffee for me and simply disappeared. It is a nice run diner at first glance. The two of us ordered breakfast first time customers. We were told our waitress was momentarily doing something else so another waitress took our drink order. our waitress shows up takes our order and brings the drinks. My hot tea tasted like medicine. Terrible tea they served. our order came out Luke warm. No exaggeration! The pancakes needed a saw to cut. I left most Of the complete plate of food Including eggs toast potatoes! My husband said the food was on counter just sitting there before we got it The people next to us got piping hot food steaming! Will not go back. Period. read more

I put the wrong address in maps and ended up here for dinner on 5/15. I took advantage of the breakfast all day. I had a hard time deciding because everything looked bomb. I ended up going with the chicken Benedict and the special, which was a short stack of the banana pudding pancakes. Everything was delicious but the pancakes were AMAZING!!!!! I've already recommended them to my coworkers. On top of the fantastic food, Amber was my server and she is a true gem. Kind, honest, and caring. Great food consistantly. Only issue is that the "metro to go" lane is in the pathway of the diners booths so there is a constant flow of door dash types that are either passing the tables or literally leaning on the booth that I was sitting in. The food here is always delicious but they need to move the pick up station away from diners as they are eating. Its not sanitary to have people constantly walking past the diners food. It seems that they could set up the pickup station towards the back of the restaurant. read more

Perfection. That's the best way to sum up our experience. The place was very clean and not crowded and spacious. Everyone was friendly and inviting. The waitress was wonderful even offering to customize my wife's order making sure she got exactly what she wanted. The food was excellent. It was the best eggs Benedict I have had in years. The croissant French toast tasted great as well. My wife commented the eggs and bacon were great as was the hazelnut coffee. The entire experience was a great start to our day. I'd eat here every morning if I could. read more

Was in town and stopped by for brunch on a Saturday. It was packed - 35 minute wait, but tables turned efficiently. The girl at reception was very kind and knew we were hungry, rushed us to a table as quickly as possible. Our server was friendly and efficient. My wife and I went a date night and had a great time. They were slow but our server Amber was very humorous, attentive, and friendly. We ordered three things. 1) Spicy honey chicken sandwich 2) Charleston shrimp and grits 3) Iron City meatloaf. The spicy chicken sandwich was very flavorful and tender. It was served with your choice in sides. The shrimp and grits were spot on. It was topped with cheese, roasted red peppers, andouille sausage, green onions, shrimp and chopped bacon. The meatloaf was seared on both sides, served with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. As you are making your first bite with all components together, you won't regret it. Metro Diner - Chicken and waffles. I need two plates to eat this. - American Near Me - Fredericksburg, Virginia

What I really wanted was the chicken and waffles, but it's literally half of a chicken, fried, and had more calories than I'm trying to eat in an entire day. So Bride and I actually decided that we would both have the same thing for once- a spicy honey chicken sandwich with a side of seasonal fruit, and coffee. Our waitress, Danielle, was amazing- friendly and welcomingshe gave us the tip that there's also a spicy honey chicken *biscuit*, which I was totally going to get until she mentioned that the other difference is that the sandwich comes with a slice of tomato, but the biscuit doesn't. The coffee is their own house blend- medium roast and delicious. Drinkable black, which isn't always the case with diner coffee. The sandwich itself was a pretty standard brioche bun, which I elected not to eat, with two amazing fried chicken tenders on it, so crispy and juicy and good! And the sauce... O! the sauce! Sweet and slightly spicy, if they sold it, I would have paid cash money on the spot for a bottle. As it is, I'm probably going to spend a few weeks trying to figure it out. The pickle spears were ideal- crisp, cool, and garlicky. The seasonal fruit was a nice mixture of cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, strawberries and red grapes. We would have been happy to stop there, but when my Bride went to wash the sauce off her delicate paws, she noticed that the specials board announced a lemon-blueberry bread pudding. You know we had to! We split one, which was smart and responsible, but my heart cries out for the loss of the other half. This delightful feast, accompanied by a cornucopia of classic rock on the Muzak, was $38.34, including tax but not tip. Honestly, I would consider driving all the way back up here to eat here again. read more

Metro Diner We visited the Metro Diner on two recent occasions, for lunch and for breakfast. Lunch was on a Thursday, just before noon. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but filled up quickly. Our server was quick and attentive. Our orders of fish-n-chips and the fried chicken sandwich were served piping hot and fresh. The chicken sandwich was definitely the star of the show. The fish was OK, but was not the typical beer-batter that I am accustomed. Breakfast was on a Monday, just after 8 am. Even though they had just opened, it was already busy. Our server was prompt and immediately brought out our coffee and water. The chicken Benedict was tasty, easily large enough for two people. Biscuits and gravy come with hash browns and two eggs, also a very tasty meal. A short stack of pancakes topped off the excellent morning fare. If I had to choose between the two, I'd definitely go for the breakfast. read more

Horrible service!!! Came in at approximately 1:00 pm on a Sunday. Wait time was about 15 minutes, not bad. Once seated, the waitress, Chelsea S, took the order, brought drinks and disappeared. About 30 minutes later she said that the food is coming. Another 20 minutes later she was nowhere to be found. I asked the hostess to look for her since we did not get our food. The hostess used an excuse to explain the delay by telling us that the kitchen is busy. Unfortunately, other customers that came in after us already received their orders and were finishing eating. Keep in mind that we ordered 2 breakfasts, nothing complicated. Eventually the food was delivered. It was cold!!! The butter wouldn't melt on the toast. It means that the food was ready, but she forgot about the customers. At this time the restaurant was no longer busy. The bottom line is that the waitress was oblivious to the customer's orders or concerns. Totally destroyed what should have been a nice Sunday meal. We paid and walked out. Never again!!! read more
