Hot Mess: pastrami, eggs, biscuit and gravy, and toys
    Carmen L.

I can't rave enough about this place. While it's out there location-wise, the trip is very much worth it. During my latest visit, I ordered the Hot Mess, which is pastrami, sausage gravy, and two eggs any way you want them done. I'll confess that I'm not a biscuits and gravy enthusiast, but this gravy will convert non-believers. It's just that good. There's so much flavor in the gravy that to have it smothered over a freshly-made biscuit is perfection. Service at Biscuit Batch has always been great. They're always busy yet servers check in. When I visited a few weeks ago, Ashley was our server and she is super sweet and ready to make recommendations. The ambiance at Biscuit Batch is always lively. They don't take reservations, so plan ahead especially if you have a large party. The other thing I really like about Biscuit Batch is that they always have a space where there's another small business/entrepreneur vendor present selling their product. On the Sunday I visited, there was a small business owner selling his homemade bagels and spreads.

10/10 I recommend! The breakfast tots seemed simple but the seasoning on the tots made it that much better!! The stack of tots, sausage gravy, eggs (cooked to your liking) and green onions were delicious!! The hot mess also tasted amazing, big portion too! Of course we had to get a side biscuit to see why it's in the name-it was very good with the blueberry jam!

This place is so cute and full of potential! You can tell it's still fairly new and are working out the kinks - for example, they need an espresso machine. They only offer cold brew and drip coffee, and I would have loved to ordered a latte instead, but alas. As far as the food, it's great. My mom got the classic sausage gravy and biscuits and that gravy is DIVINE. I ordered the chicken pot pie. I honestly didn't love it, but I think that's because I was expecting a more classic pot pie flavor, whereas this one has a lot of Cajun spice in it. So I think that was just a personal preference thing. But the interior is so cute and the staff so friendly. I think this place will continue to improve and I'll be happy to go back in a few months.

This spot is super adorable! It's pretty small, but that is fine, only thing that is unfortunate is that if there's a wait, there's nowhere to wait indoors! The menu is not too big, it's got just enough options to choose from. I ordered the breakfast tots, which are tater tots smothered in sausage gravy with two eggs, your preferred way- and a sprinkle of green onions. I got the sausage gravy on the side, just because I wasn't sure if I would love it. BUT I DID! Everything i ate was so delicious! I wish I had a bottomless pit of a stomach! I couldn't eat everything, so I stopped at the halfway point, and packaged the leftovers for another day. The interior was adorable I loved the farmhouse chic decor. They even had a section with items you can purchase; candles, books, journals, etc-- all adorable, as well! The only complaint I have is the coffee. It was TERRIBLE! There was barely any flavor, it was weak and i wish I didn't waste the calories of bothering to add cream and sugar. All in all, i had a really good meal and I'm pleased with it! So glad I liked it, because it wayyy out of my way! I would not make the drive regularly, but definitely will come again!

We ate at Biscuit Batch for brunch and had to wait around 40 minutes for a table (4 people) they don't take reservations it's first come first serve. That said absolutely positively worth the wait. I ordered the Nash which is a biscuit with Nashville Hot Chicken, white sausage gravy, and two eggs. Freaking fantastic. My friend ordered the Hot Mess which is biscuits pastrami, gravy and some other things like tots. They do have more normal plates that don't have biscuits. The restaurant is a little out of the way but worth the drive and the time. Don't let the thought of distance or perhaps a bit of a wait deter you from this amazing delightful restaurant.

I took my wife out for brunch and was able to finally make a visit. It is located at Merchants Square/Spotsylvania Courthouse in the same area as Itavie, Cider Lab and El Grand Patron. As you walked in, the restaurant is clean, cozy and modern. The vibe is energetic especially from the welcoming smiles of the woman behind the entrance counter. They have a couch as waiting area that sits up to 4 but most don't mind standing outside (weather permits). We ordered 4 items: 1) The Nash 2) Shrimp and Grits 3) BLT 4) Southern Cali Benedict. As the shrimp and grits arrive to the table, my mouth was already salivating .. lol. When that first bite hit my palate, this is an OMG level good that was flooded with that deliciousness. I wasn't able to stop until it was completely gone. My wife order the Nash which was a hot fried chicken served with gravy, homemade biscuit, sweet and spicy pickles and your choice of a side so she got a side salad. The chicken itself was tender, a little salty but balance well with the gravy. The side salad that was served on the plate was tasty too. The next dish was the southern Cali Benedict, a layer of biscuit, tomato, portabella mushroom, hollandaise, sauté kale and a poached egg. The combination was unique but the kale overpowered the dish, it was a little bland, there was only a spoonful of the hollandaise sauce but the poached egg was cooked perfectly. It was tasty though. The last dish was the BLT with an option to add eggs but I chose not to. It was a simple dish with homemade biscuit, smoked bacon, mixed greens and tomato. Since my wife didn't want her pickles, when I took that second bite of my sandwich, follow it with those sweet pickles, it enhance the flavors in my mouth. Overall it is a great place to bring your family, friends or just dining alone. They have a bar with seats in front, some decorations on the wall and our server Mollie P provided impeccable service. She was friendly, genuine, humorous and attentive. All staff members were friendly and knowledgeable. They are only open Thursdays-Sundays. We will definitely make a return visit to try other items on their menu. When you have a chance, come check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Decided to take hubby to Biscuit Batch this morning - I've brought him food home from the restaurant, but this was his first time eating there - He ordered the pancakes, bacon and eggs - I ordered the Nash - Nashville Hot Fried Chicken breast, a side of some spicy pickles and there famous biscuits with a side salad - We also ordered the Breakfast Tots to share - They are a meal all by themselves - Everything was delicious - We got more than enough to enjoy there and have leftovers for later - The service was excellent, checking on us often - When you walk in you are met with the aroma of great food being cooked and greeted by some wonderful people - It felt like home - If you are looking for a go to for breakfast and brunch, Biscuit Batch is it ...

Amazing food. Small on the inside but the place is top notch. Service was as normal and just an overall cool and cozy vibe for brunch

    The Hot Mess

Great brunch. A bit spendy but definitely filling and tasty. The biscuits are featured substrates.

The Hot Mess! Thanks Courtney for this recommendation.

The beautiful modern dining room is spacious, warm, inviting, and modern! We were greeted immediately and we're told that we can sit at any table that we would like to! I was finally able to make a visit to this place. It's in a strip mall along with other businesses…read moresuch as Kohls, Finesse Salon Studios and across from Publix Super Market. Theres plenty of parking and they have a small area for outside seating. As you walked in, there's plenty of seating, they have an open kitchen concept, a side room for special events or meetings (25 people capacity) but it's their mission that caught my interest as cashier/ hostess Lexi explains to me. This company spreads and provides charity catering throughout the community with multiple outlets. Lexi was very patient as she explains how the menu works. I ordered 3 items: 1) Loaded baked potato 2) Fried fish 3) Chicken and waffles. I just wanted to taste the baked potato without any protein on top. I don't know what it was that had an off taste, maybe the butter. The potato itself was soft topped with cheese, green onions and a little bland. The chicken and waffle were tasty. The fried chicken wasn't as crispy as I would like it but it was well seasoned and the waffle was soft. There are so many options for your sides. So for the fried fish, the appearance looks delicious but it was very thin and dry. Even with the tartar sauce it was still dry. I was really looking forward to it. The sides I selected were fries and hope cakes (which are sweet corn bread). Their beverages are on point, I got their lemonade and sweet tea. Lexi was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant is only opened on Fridays-Sundays for regular business but since they do multiple catering events, they are open 7 days a week. They also offer Sunday brunch between the hours of 9a-3p which the entire dining room is open with mocktail and coffee station. There isn't a buffet during the brunch but a la carte off the menu. I would make a return visit to try their brunch menu in the near future.

Seated quickly and server was there in under one minute and gave us a bottomless pot of coffee and brought Splenda (which is not on table.). My wife ordered avocado tacos and said they were excellent. Her grits were excellent! My food however was not great. Ordered beef hash and eggs. I really wanted corned beef hash but not on menu. Beef chunks, what few there were, were actually cold as in right out of refrigerator cold while all the other ingredients were just right so it's like they tossed them in at last minute with no time to warm up! Overall it was very heavily seasoned and after a few bites I lost my appetite. Way too salty too. Again the grits I ordered on side were excellent. I took 3/4 of my meal home to try to eat later and perhaps add some corned beef hash to but haven't had the desire to finish yet after two days so likely I won't eat it. Something about the seasoning and overly salted that didn't sit well with me. Overall this is a very pleasant upscale restaurant but there are zero bargains on menu ($54 with tip for 2 people for breakfast = very high IMHO.) Music was a bit loud as we were almost directly under and between two speakers. Could just be me but I can't see any need for high volume music in such a nice restaurant. Perhaps when it's busy it helps with the overall din? Checkout was super easy with QR code but I dislike the 18% low end suggested gratuity. Let me decide. I know there is a customized tip capability but 15 vs 20 should suffice. Less for poor service which I doubt you will get at First Watch. However I cannot ever recall in my 76 years tipping any server more than 20%. Overall the food selection is fairly non-traditional and limited. 1 pancake is $9. Seriously WHO orders just one pancake? If one goes to Cracker Barrel you can get 3 pancakes, a meat and two eggs for a buck more. And delicious. This place is definitely more upscale but honestly it's about the food, right? I prefer good tasting food vs upscale so likely we won't return (but man those yellow grits with a big scoop of butter on top were delicious - better than Cracker Barrel for sure!). If I should ever return I'm ordering two sides of grits (or a big bowl) and that's it! Out for under $8 + coffee. Not sure how this chain will survive but if I were the operations manager I'd find a few menu items to sprinkle in that appeal to us tightwads, with hope some will order the higher priced offerings. A very basic pancakes, eggs and meat for ~$10 would get my attention. Almost all their menu items were in the $14-16 range which is like dining in the big city. Too much for Fredericksburg I'm afraid. It's not that we can't afford First Watch, it's that First Watch's (2 of them) are out of their element here. I wish 'em luck but fear, like the past tenants in that building, they won't make it unless they can find a menu that packs people in 7 days a week. There were probably only 4 tables occupied during our Tuesday at 11am visit. My father owned/managed several restaurants growing up and he always said you can put a restaurant in a barn in a cornfield 20 miles from no where but if the food is excellent and price is fair the public will beat a path to your door every day! He was right.

While many servers deserve recognition, our most recent visit stood out thanks to Sam. She was friendly, helpful, courteous, and genuinely welcoming. Atmosphere: The restaurant features an open seating area, plus a separate side section with additional booths and tables. There's a subtle Greek feel to the space that adds character while still feeling casual and comfortable. Food & Popularity: Because Jimmy the Greek is so popular, wait times can vary depending on when you arrive, especially for larger parties of five or more. If you come later in the morning, they may run out of popular items like biscuits and gravy, which are signature breakfast dishes. On rare occasions, we've also experienced food that was slightly underdone (such as eggs under-cooked too soft or French toast that was a bit soggy). Overall Experience: Jimmy the Greek is one of the best breakfast spots in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area and even in several surrounding counties. Despite a few minor drawbacks, it remains one of our top breakfast choices and easily earns five stars. Our experiences have been consistently positive, and the quality of both the food and service keeps us coming back. I highly recommend giving it a try!
