In Columbus for work and found the Metro Diner on Yelp. Walked in a seated quickly. The place is clean and spacious. Our food was excellent. The chicken and waffles were exceptional, biscuits and gravy were spot on. Our server Emily S. Really made for a great experience. She even mixed the syrups and hot sauce to create a fantastic sweet and spicy sauce for the chicken. Great food and even better service. read more

I was visiting my son who is In the army in fort Bragg. Let me say there is not much in this part of town. But we love to eat and leave it to me to find a place. The food was excellent. One of my kids had chicken and waffles he said the food was so good and the chicken was washed lol. My soldier son had eggs grits which he ate on bread and he had an order of cinnamon pancakes which were very very good and not sweet just good. I had grits with cheese which was really creamy and buttery. If your in that area they shouldn't disappoint. read more

I was greeted after waiting a minute and then seated at a dirty table. I was told someone would be right with me. I waited 7 minutes and in that 7 minutes, 2 more tables were seated and their orders taken. When I saw a third table get sat at a dirty table, but the hostess cleaned it for them, I'd had enough. I tried to get the hostesses attention, but she turned and left too quickly. She came right back to seat the booth next to me and I got her attention and asked if anyone would be taking care of me. She made her apology and said she would get someone. Three more minutes go by and she approached 3 servers on the floor and then went in the back and came out with another. She in turn looked over then returned to the back. I waited a couple more minutes then gathered my things and left. I'll never darken your door nor recommend this establishment to anyone, I don't care how good the food may be. read more

Reading the reviews and looking at the pictures, I was pretty excited to try the chicken and waffles. I arrived first thing in the morning after placing an order over the phone. As reflected in the picture the chicken was fried in old grease and was a second away from being burnt. I don't understand how this could happen at the beginning of the day, however I already arrived home by the time i noticed the chicken. We were in Destin for the weekend and decided to walk across the street and see what was going on at Metro Diner. Their parking lot was full and we had to see for ourselves. This is a really cute diner and the wait staff is outstanding! We were there for breakfast and ordered a western omelette and 2 egg breakfasts. Everything was pretty good although the pan fried potatoes were a tad overcooked. I look forward to returning for a lunch meal! read more

I was so excited to come here. This place was packed (went there on Saturday around 10am) I think I was expecting too much or something since this place is very popular, I thought the food was gonna be really good. It took looooong time to get our food (well since they were busy I was kinda expecting that tho) we ordered shrimp and grits (it wasn't the best. That was the best meal I have truly had in months. The Roast layed on a bed of Potatoes with pieces of celery, carrots and gravy was simply 3 words....DeLicious!!!! Other accessories House Salad with Thousand Island dressing, White toast to sop up that gravy, Fruit Cup and tasty Lemonade. It was a Curveside pickup. Established in 1992.

Since the building's humble beginnings in 1938 and its revival as Metro Diner in 1992, Jacksonville's favorite place for breakfast has been serving satisfied guests for nearly 25 years. In 2000, master chef Mark Davoli and family took over and elevated the menu to include innovative new dishes created from local ingredients. Along with culinary creativity, the Davoli family brought more than 80 years of combined restaurant experience to Metro Diner. Metro Diner may not be the type of place where you'd expect contemporary culinary techniques, a commitment to creating dishes from scratch, an award-winning presentation, unique recipes and imaginative twists on old classics, but it is.
