The service was great. I sat at the counter and watched the kitchen staff cook. It was actually quite entertaining. The food however was mediocre. Nothing I would go out of my was for. read more

I recently experienced eating at Metro diner because of an invite from a friend for breakfast. The food was fantastic and the portions were substantial . The service was excellent, professional and friendly. I enjoyed it so much, at my next opportunity, I recommended it for lunch with friends. Lunch was consistent like breakfast for the quality of food and service. read more

So Alyassa (I think that's how you spell it; was our server and she was absolutely FABULOUS. They were busy when we got there, but we only had to wait about 15 min to sit down (there was 11 of us) and we all still got greeted as soon as we came in! the food was amazing, it came out super quick and tasted delicious!!! I'm from Va but wish I lived here so I could frequent that restaurant more often. Absolutely wonderful and I loved everything about. I ended up ordering the burger bowl and subbed broccoli for the fries it was supposed to be served over..amazing. No or hassle with the modifications. Absolutely wonderful. I wish I could give them 10 stars!! read more

This was our third time coming to eat and it was horrible. The meal I ordered was huevos rancheros. Which was nasty. Service was not great I had to go up front to pay . Why when there was 6 servers standing around chatting it up . This was my husbands birthday breakfast which turned into a let down . Do better read more

Food was delicious and service quick and pleasant! Will eat here again when visiting the area!

Love their service and food is always fresh with a variety of options! The environment is very old timey diner like!

Service sucked my coffee stayed empty. Food wasn't nothing special I should have hit waffle house. The steak in my egg bowl wasn't seasoned. I'm not sure if it was microwaved or boiled. All I know is was trash. Pretty sure that the worst thing on the menu because other plates looked alright. Don't order the steak end egg bowl you will leave hungry and disappointed. read more

7]\This was a nice and popular restaurant. Comfort wise, it would have been a lot better if we hadn't been put in the back room under the air conditioner vent. It was FREEZING! The waitress agreed that it was terribly cold in that room (in November!). 5/5 - Fried Chicken and Waffles: I didn't think this could beat out my favorite fried chicken and waffles, but the chicken breast was so tender and juicy that it would have passed for a thigh! That was amazing! Combine that with the excellent crunch and flavor and the strawberry butter and this is my new favorite! 3/5 - Biscuits and Gravy: Good biscuits but just okay gravy. Food comes out to 4 stars. I would totally bump it up to 5 for the amazing chicken and waffles, but then I'd have to drop it down 1 star for the freezing cold room. My advice: go for the Fried Chicken and Waffles and DO NOT sit in the back room and you should have a 5 star meal! read more

Took 15 minutes for the server to get our drink order, then tried to rush us through our food order. This place used to be awesome but something major has shifted the work ethic in here. Our server is Jessica, so far, not impressed. Waiting for our food to come out, she's gone by at least 4 times and my husband's tea has been empty the last 2 passes but she ignores us. Steller service (being sarcastic). Food came in a timely manner but Jessica decided we needed BBQ sauce on the burgers we ordered, we never said the word BBQ. Way to listen to your customer. The overall flavor was good but their cheese fries have very little cheese. Food was decent, service was subpar at best read more

Ordered the Steak Tips and could not even chew these veiny cuts that I was served. Some cheap veiny and stringy tips of some kind of meat. Just gross. Will never go there again. read more

Metro Diner is one of the best family dining places in town. The menu is wide and everything is good. The veggie omelet is second to none, their hamburgers are big and tasty. Alexis was the best server. She was on top of refills and bringing food out. I will request Alexis each time I come!

Two words. Come. Hungry. Came here on Memorial Day 2020, so social distancing made for a spread out dining room. Nonetheless, our party of 3 was seated in less than 15 minutes. Definitely could split any of the meals pictured here. Big, filling portions. Our crew ordered: the Western Omelet with a fluffy biscuit and potatoes (with ranch of course), a "side pancake" the size of a small child, average French toast (if I'm being honest), and a southern fried chicken twist on Benedict. I've been to another location in FL and happy to report this place never disappoints. Would recommend the Fried Chicken and Waffle, as that's probably my fav! Table and restroom were clean and staff was very friendly. Our waitress answered our many questions and others made sure our coffee was full. Will be back!! read more

Great service and friendly staff. Western omelette was passable. Seems as if the components did really meet until they were plated. Classic burger was lean but had little flavor-didn't like the bun. Might try again for lunch. Ambiance was warm, welcoming and spacious. read more

Hannah was awesome she was very friendly and extremely enthusiastic. She had one of the best attitude I've ever seen at a restaurant. I would recommend her and Metro diner to my friends and family. It's refreshing to see young people with the attitude and work ethic. The world needs more people like her. Columbus needs more establishments like this one. So please if you are in the Columbus GA area come by and give Metro diner a sit down. The chicken and waffle are so good . We eat here almost every week now . Brunch features all the southern classics; from Chicken & Waffles to Eggs and everything else. Hard to find Corned Beef Hash & Eggs; chains like WaffleHouse & IHOP let me down. I loved my CBH & Eggs, and my wife loved her Bacon Egg & Cheese Croissant! The Bloody Mary's are only $2.99 sll day long! I would rate the B-Mary about 6/10, but hey - they're only $3! Great diner; we loved Brunch so much that we are going back for supper tonight! read more

We sat down immediately around 0900 on a Sunday. Food came out quick for our group of 5. It was a little too cold inside to my liking, so bring a sweater. My family really enjoyed their fried chicken and waffles. My sister wasn't too impressed with the spicy chicken sandwich cause it wasn't spicy enough for her. Fries came out hot and fresh. I got the avocado bacon bowl and thought it was really good. Good portion sizes that you could have leftovers for some of the meals. read more

very typical diner so expectations weren't high. I cant say enough on how great the service was! From when I entered to leaving, waiter and staff were very attentive and worked as a team. I had the rancho chovans (i cant spell) but it didnt hit the spot like i thought it would. my daughter had the advocado and toast which seem to be lacking. the ambiance was very typical for a diner so nothing out of the ordinary. read more

Great service, staff was friendly. But the food wasn't as good. Chicken & waffles- chicken was seasoned well, hot & crispy. Waffles was golden delicious. Strawberry butter was very good Meatloaf plate- that entire plate was cold. The home fries was old & stale. I had to have them put the entire plate in the microwave. Hello Blake and D, the cook. It has taken me a while to write this review because life happened. I apologize. I wrote a 3 star review and the owner invited my husband and I to try them again. We went in on a random day and had the best meal ever. We both had the pot roast dinner with bloody Mary's. My husband had a side of chicken and I had half of a waffle with the strawberry butter. We were overwhelmed with how delicious everything was. Blake was the host with the most. We were just eating and going umm, ummm, umm! I was more than impressed and will be back for the pot roast again soon. I want to know if I can purchase strawberry butter to use at home. I want to thank the owner for asking us to try them again. The chef is inspired. The ladies room was nice and clean and even smelled good. read more

Honestly, I thought that this chicken pot pie was some of the best I've ever tried. I loved it so much. It came a bit later than my family's food, but that doesn't nock down a star, only because of how good it was. Our server was nice, and the food came out very quickly. I liked all the wall decor and the style of the place. I would love to go here again. read more

Great spot for breakfast. I was returning home from a business trip in Alabama and decided to check this spot out. I've eaten at a Metro Diner in Augusta, GA... so I was curious if this one (Columbus, GA) was part of the same franchise. I'm pleased to report it is! The service was tip-notch and the food was delicious. I chose the Two Egg Breakfast with sausage patties, grits, and an English muffin. I added Metro Pancakes with blueberries for good measure. The portion sizes were just as I remembered them to be (plentiful). Everything came out hot and fast. I definitely recommend eating here. One of these days I'm going to try the chicken and waffles. When I do... I'll need to be VERY hungry (lots of food). Check out the menu (pictures included). read more

It has been many years since we have eaten at a Metro Diner. We used to eat at the original one when we lived in Jacksonville, FL. Eating at this one, the food was good, but we were disappointed in the offerings on the menu. We remember there being a lot more interesting food and options. Maybe this is a post Covid menu, but I hope they return to their glory. read more

Our first visit there and we had Tabatha as are waitress. She was very bubbly and informative about The Metro Diner's Menu. She made us feel like we were her only customers. She was wearing a Georgia Bull Dog Tshirt and we were BAMA and Auburn fans-- so we joked about the upcoming football season with class. With her expert advise we choose the Shepherds Pie and Meatlovers Bowl. The Ambiance was inviting, Food was excellent and service was great! We will definitely be back to try out more menu items. I was craving some biscuits and gravy and thought Metro would be just the place. I was happy to see that it came with eggs and potatoes. I ordered it to-go with scrambled eggs and home fries. My partner got the meat lover's omelet with cheese grits. The good: The biscuits were great. They were fluffy, dense, but not gummy. The gravy was a good consistency. The flavor was just right so that the sausage did not overwhelm or make it too spicy. The grits were thick enough that a fork could handle them and were seasoned well. The bad: My home fries were burnt. They also somehow lacked flavor. I gave some to my dogs and even they didn't care for them. My scrambled eggs were one solid mass of overcooked, under-seasoned rubber. I tried mixing a little of the gravy on top but really they were beyond saving. The dogs did enjoy them however. My husband's omelet was stuffed, but it was as though they'd forgotten the cheese. There was a little bit of cheddar in the middle, but the whole thing looked dry. He said it was "ok", but he is far less picky than I. Overall, I'd rate this a 3.5 if I could. I decided to give it a 4 because the experience with the eggs and potatoes might have been better if we had dined in. The lack of seasoning and overcooking could be improved upon. I would eat here again. But if I would steer clear of the homefries next time. read more

An amazing diner!! I found this place via Yelp. We had no trouble finding this place using our navigation. SERVICE 5/5 Shannon was simply amazing. We were walking towards the diner. Before my hand could reach for the door, Shannon opened it and welcomed us in. She made wonderful recommendations too!! FOOD 5/5 I had the Chicken & Waffle. Let me tell you, the portion was like 3 meals served on one plate. It was a lot of food for me. The fried chicken was tasty and juicy. The waffle was so good. Not sure about the strawberry butter though. I definitely made better strawberry butter. AMBIENCE 5/5 The diner was spacious and welcoming. I really like the lively atmosphere. We were here for an event two weeks ago and this would be my number 1 choice to visit again if I return to Columbus GA. 100% highly recommended!! :) read more

Ate here a couple times really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food the wait was to be expected because this is a must go to place

Food is good, attentive service, and comfortable ambiance. Don't expect I hop prices. You get a lot of tasty food that could easily make two meals. The food was ok. Tea was good, service was good. Pot Roast: too much gravy compared to potatoes and meat and gravy was too rich. Hamburger: no mustard or mayo provided after requesting all the way. Didn't want cheese but it was on it anyway. Shrimp and grits: had gravy with sausage that comprised most of the bowl. Ratio between gravy and grits was too much gravy and not enough grits. read more
