Really cool downtown cafe lunch spot to hit up for great daily specials and lunch grubs. Fast services, low prices, kind staff and nifty place in a historic hotel adds to the vibe. Great views of the downtown corner streets as well. Rachel is a great server and Donnie the owner is the coolest guy you could hope to meet. My sampling of the Miles sando, San Angelo sando, Cobb salad, and grilled chicken entree plate were all on point! So simple but so good! I will be back in again for the Tuesday special thay caught my eye at just $7.99 which is 8oz topped sirloin steak and baked tater with a side pick. 11 years in business so far, this place is a local foos staple putting a smile on locals faces and filling bellies with great food.

Fries pork chop! $7.99 incredible!

I took my two bosses here on Monday. When we saw the fried pork chop special this became a game changer. Upon tasting our first both both replied "wow this fried pork chop is just like my mothers". They ate every last piece of meat down to the bone. The potato salad tasted so fresh & like something out of a dream. The tea was super fresh, and the staff could not have been more sweet & accommodating. We will be back for every lunch special in the near future.

This may be one of San Angelo's best kept secrets. We have eaten breakfast twice and loved it. You have 4 items to choose from on the breakfast menu but they are really good. The homemade sausage gravy and biscuits are awesome. Can't wait to try lunch.

Our waitress was friendly, took our order and brought our orange juices quickly. I ordered the Western omelette w/hash browns (potato chunks) & toast and my husband opted for the breakfast burrito and coconut cream pie for desert. My husband seemed to have enjoyed his breakfast more than I mine although he didn't like the pie. My toast was buttery and there was no jelly in sight or our waitress to ask. Also, no salt & pepper or condiments on any of the tables like other restaurants. Perhaps because it's a senior citizen complex they aren't allowed to spice things up. Guessing here, perhaps government subsidized (501C3) so they are able to offer price reduced meals. The place was clean, quiet, ample seating and a nice menu selection. However, it's just not my thing to dine in at a "nursing home environment". I'm happy to see Main Street Cafe is available for those who are wanting cheap meals.

I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

Absolutely no customer service, no greeting, no smile. We all have bad days but you could tell this was just who she is... Maybe make her in charge of cleaning things and not dealing with the customers? (the same person could care less when the couple next to me received their order backwards. The woman couldn't eat spicy foods and her burger was covered with spicy items. She took it up to the woman taking orders and the woman refused to do anything. Wow.) The restrooms, wood sides along booths, pickle table and the condiments/tables need a serious cleaning - there is grossness abounding. I didn't see one person busing or cleaning in the restaurant - and it shows! Gross. The fries could've been great if they were crispy but they were all super soggy. FRY FAIL! Onions: you can leave them thick for the onion rings but if you're putting a slice of onion on my burger you better slice it thin. Nobody needs a huge half inch thick slice of onion in the middle of a burger. PRO: The burger was cooked to perfection. At least they got that right, which is why I gave them three stars - nothing else I experienced in this restaurant deserved any stars. The owner/manager are lazy at best cause they obviously don't care about the customer experience.

We were recently in town visiting family and wanted to eat before we left town to go home. The well-known place we used to eat now closes on Sundays. That's their loss because we've declared the Dun Bar our new Sunday lunch spot when we're in town. Thelma was our server and she was just delightful. This is probably the most hole in the wall place I've ever given full stars. Don't get me wrong, I love a hole in the wall, but sometimes the food in a hole in the wall is a little boring. Like this food, it was so simple, chicken fried steaks, grilled chicken breast, a Thanksgiving lunch on Sundays, side salads, humble sides... but it's all so absolutely ridiculously GOOD. We started with the large plate of onion rings (which is $7.50, btw, you won't find that anywhere else) and my sister lost her mind about them. lol For our entrees we had two chicken fried steak plates (different sides) and a grilled chicken plate. The gravy is served on the side, family style, and it was probably one of the best gravys I've ever had. It's not just flour and water, it tasted more complex like it had broth in it as well. Somehow with the modest price of these very flavorful dishes, they still give you free dessert. Very generous. I typically hate carrot cake, but this cake was moist and really good. It was almost like a spice cake, very well done. Do not sleep on this place. The surroundings are run down, the motel behind it has seen better days, but the food is legit and the kindness can't be beat. If you go on a Sunday, ask for Thelma and tell her the girls from Fort Worth say hi.

They picked us up at our house, and off we went to TRH for some Great Steaks - and Peanuts. They also have one of the Best Bacon Cheeseburgers you will ever find. But last night was Steaks for everyone. When we arrived, the parking lot was packed with only a few spots left. Some people are waiting outside, while at least 30 are waiting inside. Bill checked in with the Hostess area, and our name was called in just a couple of minutes. Thanks to 'Call-Ahead'. We were shown to a large booth and began enjoying those Fresh Warm Rolls with their Soft Honey-Cinnamon & Regular Soft Butter. As everyone knows, these are the Best Rolls around. Our Server came over and took our drink order. I'm having a Long Island Iced Tea while Pam ordered a Sangria Margarita. Bill & my Wife ordered water with lemon. We enjoyed those Fresh Delicious Rolls while looking over the Menu. When our drinks arrived, we placed our order. Bill & Pam are having their "Dallas Filet"; their Filets are the most tender, lean Steak that melts in your mouth. Includes two sides, they ordered a Sweet Potato and a 'House Salad', Fresh Greens, Cheddar Cheese, Tomatoes, Hard Boiled Egg crumbles & Croutons, with dressing of your choice. My Wife and I are going with their "Steakhouse Filet Salad", Salad Greens drizzled with Italian Dressing, topped with Tender Filet Strips, Bleu Cheese crumbles, Bacon Bits, Red Onion, Tomatoes & Croutons. Served with dressing of choice. We both requested Ranch. My wife elected not to have the Bleu Cheese Crumbles. Orders are in, and we enjoyed a second basket of those Fresh Warm Delicious Rolls. My Long Island Iced Tea is really good, and Pam said she loves her Sangria Margarita. Soon, Bill & Pam's House Salads arrived, and they look delicious. Texas Roadhouse makes the Best House Salad in town. TRH is packed, but when someone has a Birthday, the Staff still takes time to sing you their version of Happy Birthday. Soon after their House Salads were finished, out food arrived. The 'Filets' are prepared perfectly and looks Tastylicious. Our 'Steakhouse Salads' are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness. The Filet Strips are also prepared perfectly, are Tenderlylicious and Flavorful. The Salad is Fresh, Crisp, and loaded with lots of goodies. I finished all of mine, and my Wife took almost half of hers home. Nancy orders this most of the time, and I do once in a while. Bill & Pam enjoyed their Filets and also took some home. When we left, TRH was still packed with over 20 people waiting for a table. It's Wednesday night, and TRH is packed. That tells you right there that this is the place to go for a Steak, or anything else on their menu. It's all good stuff. We all went back to our house for dessert. My Wife made her first-ever "Peanut Butter Pie", served with Reese's Peanut Butter Ice Cream. This pie was Richlyliciousness and loaded with Soft Peanut Butter flavor. My Wife really loves this pie, and I also. Just wish that Restaurants offered this on their Dessert Menu.
