Best place in town for sushi
Amandine N.

A thousand percent yes I loved everything about this place and will definitely be coming back !

6/10 to me tuna avocado Roll
Robert S.

Decided to give this place a try and got a tuna with avo with cucumber. For me sushi rolls are all about balance but this roll had a sliver of avocado and barely any vegetable mostly mediocre quality tuna.

A Baked Dynamite Roll is mouthwatering!

Delicious sushi, soup, salad, finger food and even dessert!

After having a great time at their Pico-Robertson location, I decided to try out their place on La Brea(about midway between Beverly and Melrose). The place is very clean and well lit with an excellent Staff. On the recommendation of the Manager, I had the Japanese Pizza(crispy rice, spicy tuna, avocado, nacho jalapeno) Meshuga Roll(spicy tuna, fresh jalapeno and ponzu sauce) and Yellowtail Special Roll(spicy yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, cilantro and ponzu sauce). I was extremely pleased with the selections and devoured all 3. Frankly, it was the best Kosher sushi I've ever had including in Israel. It was all superfresh, beautifully presented and super tasty. For dessert, I had their Oreo Insanity(vanilla ice cream surrounded by fried oreos drizzled with chocolate). I found this very creative as well as another very delicious offering. Service was fast and friendly and the A/C was great on a hot day. Conclusion: Hands down best Kosher sushi restaurant I have ever been. Well done Meshuga Sushi.

Female employee at the counter not even wearing a mask. A customer for pick up didn't have a mask on. Bad attitude. I just came for delivery but I wouldn't even consider coming. The guy in the kitchen doesn't even have a mask on

We only tried the carbonara udon, but it was truly memorable. The sauce was creamy although a little split, but not overly salty which allowed the subtle umami and miso flavors to shine. The noodles were cooked well and had a gentle chew. The bacon was juicy with lots of fatty bits. Next time I would add an ontama to it to make it even better. The service was great and quick. We sat at the counter so could watch the noodles being made. This is definitely among the top 3 places I ate in JTown during this visit!

Marugame Monzo's sauce, however, is the opposite of Menchirashi's. The sauce is SUPER flavorful with a rich, creamy mouthfeel and a strong umami flavor from the bacon and miso. I added mentaiko since I did the same at Menchirashi and honestly, everything was fantastic. The udon itself is pretty much exactly like fresh udon in Japan. Perfectly bouncy, chewy, and satisfying. Staff were also wonderful and service was insanely fast. We probably waited less than 10 minutes for both our udon and tempura, and they consistently checked in to make sure everything was good. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu, especially the uni cream udon. The only thing I didn't like was the shrimp tempura since it had a lot of batter and not a ton of shrimp, so it was on the greasy side. I did enjoy the soft boiled egg tempura though. The yolk exploded into the udon and somehow made the whole bowl even better hehe. There are plenty of tables inside with limited bar seating. If you're a 2 top you might be sharing a table real close with some neighbors (they put a divider). If there's a wait, write your name down on the clipboard outside!

Salty but lacks a depth of flavor. - The truffle sushi roll had a prominent truffle flavor (which I enjoyed, but may not be for everyone). Crunch spider roll was a favorite; just a solid classic with soft shell crab (love that an extra piece of crab is included on top of the roll). The fried onions on top of the Tokyo roll were crispy and sweet. Uni was fresh and delicious! I had uni only one time before and had a bad experience (it was incredibly fishy, and now I realize, not fresh). So I was apprehensive at first but I'm glad I gave it a chance because this uni was buttery, smooth, and briny in all the right ways. - Matcha tea was okay, medium profile matcha flavor. Not bad for the value though. Clean and refreshing. -Might be a small thing to point out, but I like how they include lemon slices automatically in the water. I also like the texture of the ice (evenly crushed and almost like a slush). Service 3.5/5 Not too long a wait for the food. Polite and professional waiters. Aesthetic 4.5/5 Traditional izakaya vibe with a relaxed, warm atmosphere. Low lighting inside. Modern layout with traditional Japanese decor.

Snagging a reservation took some time but was worth the effort. Our meal was an incredible experience--the service, the way each course was presented in such beautiful dishware--the meal was a well-planned journey and one of the best dining experiences we've had. We dined here again in January and it's taken me some time to process this experience and put it in words. The dining room interior has been remodeled since our last visit. The atmosphere helps you focus on being present, being in the moment, being still when each course comes. With excited anticipation you take the lid off of the soup bowl or the staff unveils a dish, so your focus is seeing, smelling, feeling, tasting and enjoying the first bite and all the flavors in the dish before you. What a fun experience! Chef Niki is so creative, thoughtful, deliberate in how she plans her guests' meals. We enjoyed meeting her at the end of our meal and having the opportunity to thank her for the care and attention she gives to all. We look forward to coming here again when we're able to get to L.A.

My husband has been talking about wanting to try n/naka since I first met him 6 years ago and his past birthday was the first time we were able to get reservations. From even before you walk in the door, you are treated with such personable service - with a short form you fill out with your details and text confirming your allergy details, to your meal itself, which is in a realm of its own, to the Polaroid/Instax picture they take of your party at the end of the meal, to Chef Niki personally thanking every table and wishing my starstruck husband a happy birthday to receiving a handwritten note in the mail a few weeks later from Chef Niki wishing my husband a happy birthday and thanking us for celebrating with them. We have been lucky enough to dine at 1,2 & 3 Star Michelin restaurants around the world and none ever felt close to this level of service. On to the food - while I can't describe every dish because my memory does not serve me, I remember each bite was absolutely delicious. Most of the time in multi-course meals, there's one or two dishes that make me scratch my head and wonder if my palate is just basic and unrefined if I don't enjoy it, but I didn't feel that in any way here. I enjoyed every single course and walked away satisfied and wanting to return to n/naka for the next season's course.

Was sat immediately and served water. They have a pretty extensive menu of most things you'd find at a sushi cut roll spot. We ended up ordering the toro garlic toast, veggie tempura, ginza roll, and several pieces of nigiri sushi. The toro garlic toast was pretty good - sort of like a spicy tuna crispy rice situation ... but a little fattier and more garlicky than crispy. The ginza roll was pretty good too - a lot of fish in the roll and wasn't overwhelming with too much sauce. The tempura was good too- not super oily and all your typical veg involved. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. All in all - I wouldn't say it's a date night place, but is a good easy eats sushi spot for rolls and nigiri for the price. Would recommend!

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. I hope I'm wrong but as of right now, I'll never revisit this place. Too freaky of an experience. We
