Service was quick, portion sizes are small, which worked out fine as it was a very late dinner for us. Everything was delicious. Our server finished his shift while we were still eating but he thoughtfully transitioned us to another server to finish up.

INSANE!!!!!!! Highly HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I loved everything I got here but especially the tacos. I'd come back just for 3 orders of those by myself! They have a gluten sensitivity menu. Just ask for it. Iced earl grey tea is so good. They have happy hour too! Our waitress was very helpful. Food came fast! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the corner in back where we were sat. Felt very private and romantic![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Had such a great late‑night experience at Hatch! We did the courses menu and added a few skewers and a drink during happy hour -- and I love that happy hour applies anywhere in the restaurant, not just at the bar. Their corn tower and the match brownie dessert were amazing! Making reservations online was super easy, and the staff were all wonderful. Big shoutout to Des, who was amazing at explaining the menu and really made sure we enjoyed every dish. You can tell they genuinely care about your experience. They validate parking for up to 3 hours, which is great, but definitely keep an eye on the time because it gets pricey after that. Overall, delicious food, great service, and an easy, enjoyable night out!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came for lunch for a large group and liked out seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great but overall the food was pretty average. Party Platter ($50) : Nice option to try a few appetizers and share amongst the group. The server said she really liked the ribs but I found it just average too. I've had many better ribs though it was still good, just nothing stood out about it. Everything was served piping hot and crispy. Eggcellent Lunch ($25) : I liked the set because I could try out several dishes including the Tuna Tataki Hand Roll, Seaweed Salad, Karaage, Chicken Breast, Bacon Shishito, and Chicken Meatball. I enjoyed the tuna and bacon ones more than the others.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here on a weekday for dinner and the restaurant was still pretty lively despite the rest of the promenade being closed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had reservations and were seated right away. Staff was friendly and helped us with our order. We ended up ordering Cocktails: drinks were all very strong New Dawn Smoked Cocktail - very smokey and very good, highly recommend Tokyo Banana Poison Apple Dishes: Squid Ink Karage - 10/10 probably one of my favorites Beef Tongue - 10/10 super flavorful Agedashi Tofu - 10/10 really can't go wrong Chicken Heart Yakitori - 10/10 first time trying heart, and it was delicious Corn Tempura Tower - 10/10 Wasabi Wagyu Bolognese - 9/10 Black Fried Rice -9/10 only because I don't like ginger and it has lots of ginger, otherwise it is a very unique and wellmade dish Miso Pork Spare Ribs - 9/910 a bit on the salty side but meat was pull of the bone good Tip: They also do validations! Would highly recommend checking this place out. This was a great experience and the servers were very attentive even though we sat outside with our dog. They were also attentive to my dog, providing a fresh bowl of water when we sat down.

Without exaggerating, I have to say this is the best culinary experience I've had since visiting "how to cook a Wolf" in Seattle well over a decade ago. The bone marrow was probably the most delicious savory and overall explosive - wow taste buds experience. The squid Inc. fried chicken was the best fried chicken I've ever eaten in my life miso marinated ribs are fall off the bone and absolutely delectable. This was a Thursday night date night with my wife and we also had the pleasure of the consummate host Dez, who made us feel at home. It was an excellent date night and an Elite culinary adventure.

Overall: 4 stars Mixed reviews for this Michelin restaurant. I found portioning for the non-happy hour to be quite expensive and small compared to peers of similar conception and technique. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The menu has a variety of innovative dishes that immediately catch my attention, and the restaurant is a very modern and intimate environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Some dishes are hit or miss, but all of the concepts are more experimental yet still make sense. (Eggplant: C) - Miso eggplant is a classic pairing that works well here, but it almost seems like there was a prevailing honey sweetness that overpowers any of the saline forward miso. (Chicken Heart: A) - Quite tender with the depth not too intensified, which is crucial for the organs. The seasoning also brings levity to this skewer. (Pork Belly: D) - Unfortunately and ironically, it seems like the fat part of the belly was largely missing, and the pork became a bit dry and overcooked. I did find the sauce accompaniment powerfully uplifting and paired well with the pork. (Karaage: A) - Battered in squid ink, this blackened chicken is crisp and well seasoned with saline and spice. I think an aioli would be better suited for the subtleness of the black garlic, but could see the sourness of the ranch pairing well with chicken. (Bok Choy: F) - I'm not convinced dry grill is the best because bok choy is not necessarily the most hydrated leaf. Furthermore, halved bok choy required a lot more seasoning to flavor through the layers. (Bone Marrow: C) - Warm and inviting dish, with richly roasted marrow that pairs perfectly with the creamy aioli and chewy mochi bread. The portion is small for the price, but there is a lot of good technique going on. (Grilled Fuji: F) - The grill flavor and warmth do not come through in the apple as the texture remains hard. That said, the miso caramel pairs well. (Miso Yummy: B) - Fruit forward cocktail with inviting flavors easy on the palette. (Calcifer's Spark: A) Complex drink that follows the palette of the on the rocks family, but lightened by festive flavors of cacao, tiramisu, and berries. Are you kidding me? I lived so close by for at least 2 years and just now went to try this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat by the bar and the vibe was amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This can be a great spot for first date or girl dinner whatever you want it to be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the course menu and some à la cart items they were all so good. Yakitori concept might seem like Theres little food but we were all so full at the end !

I've heard about this place from a few foodie friends and finally came to try it myself. I loved it! They have a very interesting menu with very creative fusion sushi and Yakitori (grilled chicken) or Kushiyaki (grilled skewers in general) items. Not knowing too much, we order their fixed priced EGGCELLENT set; It turned out to be a great feast! For $55 it is a great bargain as they give you a lot of food, all with good quality, great craftsmanship, and beautiful presentations. I highly recommend this for first time customers, or if you're just hungry and want a fair amount of food! See my picture for the items included in this prix fixe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also love their location, it's in the beautiful plaza. We came around Christmas time and the lights were beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only thing is the parking structure! It is a spiral going up up up and can be challenging, if you're not used to this kind of parking structure. Oh, do not forget to get your parking ticket validated, it's gonna cost you a fortune if you don't. But it's very nice of them to offer validation to their customers.

I came in during lunch to make some time, read a book, grab a cocktail and light snack. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was really nice, clean and well decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was really helpful and gave me a great suggestion for the cocktail. I had a meat skewer which dipped in the egg tasted so good. If you are looking to work on your laptop I don't think this is the best place as there are no outlets available for you to charge your tech. Thats the only thing I didnt love as much as I was thinking to work a bit while i was there. However, I realize the place is made more to eat with friends.

It was my first time here for happy hour and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the ambiance of the place. It's spacious and gives off an elegant yet down to earth atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were a little busy, but the staff were friendly and the waiters still did a great job checking in on us and making sure we had enough water. I ordered the "For Goodness Sake" cocktail, which was light and tasty. Would recommend! We also ordered the following: Tsukemono: nice fresh pickles. Overall nice to help add some freshness to your palate after fried or meat dishes. Squid ink karage: delicious and unique! I loved the twist on the traditional karage. My favorite out of all the dishes. Chicken heart yakitori: very flavorful and not an overwhelming "meaty" taste, which I usually don't like with chicken hearts. Pork belly yakitori: this was unfortunately what knocked it down a star. Though I liked the flavors added, the meat was tough overall like it had been cooked too long. I ordered 2 of these skewers and it was tough to finish. Avo tuna toast: after fried and meat dishes, this was a welcome freshness. I'd recommend this one too as one of my favorites. Soft shell crab "taco": I'm not a big fan of soft shell crab, but this was cooked well and had great flavors. Overall it was a nice time. I'd come here again especially to try more drinks and for the karage.

Loved our dinner at Hatch. Service was great- very attentive. When we could not decide which sake we wanted, they let us taste a couple. Then you get to choose your own glass - which is a fun little experience. Food was so delicious. Everything we tasted was phenomenal. Love that they have small plates so you can taste a variety of things. Definitely get the ahi tuna and the mushroom- with hot sauce. The vibe is fun. They have fun sayings on the employees shirts. Great place to go as a group, couple or solo.

The type of bar you choose is important. But sometimes, the Bar Chooses You! Bar Magnolia quietly enters the chat. It was October 11th, 2025 and my wife & I just checked into Hotel Figueroa in DTLA. (EPIC REVIEW Coming Soon!!!) While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to check out the Hotel Bar Lounge... First thought, Color me Impressed! High ceilings, Natural lighting, classy decor, comfy couches... Yeah, take your time with that room, we'll wait! Looking back at the Photos, I can't exactly recall what we ordered... Was it a whiskey sour? Was it a paper plane?? Honestly, Who cares! They tasted great. I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.

So we came at 5:30 - and saw that many many tables open throughout our entire three hour stay. Arriving valet: I felt like a school kid being lectured. Maybe they - the hotel - has an audience that needs to be lectured, I don't. Got our table. At least that worked. Waited 30 mins to get a menu. The - very charming - waitress had put them on the empty table next to us instead. She was friendly. Sadly, she only came to asked if we need something in the second we just had received drinks or food. Whenever we would have possibly wanted to order more: nothing. The food. We were six. We started with Mezze and other shareables. They came. We got silverware for six. Three plates. Any attempt to get more: unsuccessful. Mezzo OK, everything else rather meh. The beef on my burger was killed three times - dry as hell, the fries cold. The view: great. Ambiance other than that: mediocre. The check: $350. Could have been $500, if we were offered more. We were not. 20% tip mandatory. It somewhat explains the inattentive service that includes a tip for a friendly but inattentive service. Leaving: After 20 min wait for our car, the valet attendant gave us the key, asked us to find our car (which was close) and had us serve-serve. Would I go again? Absolutely not. I fear I am not the only one who sees it that way - as half the tables were open - on a Saturday night from 5.30-8:30pm. A shame, as we brought friends and were coming to have a good time.

The entire bar is dark, mysterious with twinkle lights overhead. Like Las Vegas, once inside, it's hard to know if it's day or night outside. Only exception is in their outdoor patio mirrored on the sides like the hall at Versailles and sunlight coming in from above where smoking is allowed. We came early before 8pm during Happy Hour when non-members can enter with a person with a membership which allows 3 additional guests, and all guests are free to enter without a membership until 8pm. [$30 initial membership fee for a year and $20 annual renewal.] Caña (kahn yah) means cane in Spanish referring to sugar cane from which rum is made. Our bartender was helpful and personable welcoming us and taking our orders. Under advice from Caña member Elite Yelper, Isobel L., who graciously took us under her wing, we ordered a shot of Nicaraguan Flor de Caña Rum aged 12 years that came with a cigarillo. We adjourned from the bar to the patio to smoke our mini-stogies and sipped our rum. We came early when there were very few members so it was the perfect place to talk and mellow out. Those who want a more animated crowd probably should come much later when lively dance music begins, and booties start to swing. Caña Rum Bar: 4 stars
