Fancy sushi platter and nigiri
Carrie U.

I love Red Fish so much!! I was at a friends for dinner and she catered from Red Fish. It was so good I got their info. I had sushi dinner tonight for the family and it was so easy to order (same day) and everything was so delicious! Amazing presentation too! Of course, it was so good, my parents asked for the info and will have them cater their next dinner party - and I know the next party will lead to more people asking and using them... and so on and so on and so on! Truly worth it! We got the fancy sushi platter plus some extra nigiri- everything was delicious! Even my picky mom ate everything (and lots of it too)!! I highly recommend coming here if you're hosting a party and you don't want to cook everything, or you simply don't want to cook at all. Fairly priced for the quality.

This sushi was brought in as a party tray to an event I was part of and it was fantastic. The presentation of the tray was also so pretty. The triangular pieces were unique and absolutely delicious. They had a crunched fried texture that layered and combined with the fish and rice was so good. Even though it was catered the freshness was still perfect. The variety of the tray was fun and flavors were complimentary. Very much enjoyed and was so happy when sushi was what was being served at my event!!

How many people can walk to a restaurant that serves Japanese/Italian/Israeli & Persian cuisine? During a pandemic? I think not. But I am fortunate that this place is remaining open for take out as I ignorantly avoided this joint for years thinking how is it possible to offer so many different types of food? In this instance, my instincts were wrong. The sushi I ordered was very good and this small restaurant that used to do a lot of catering has a side kitchen as well as the main kitchen that apparently can, and does, cook up some diverse ethnic cuisine. Next time I think I will try some Persian food and then go back for some Italian or Israeli? Maybe I should get something from each and mix it up like sushi with cherry rice, hummus and chicken parmigiana? Now that's the ticket. Whatever, this place is unique enough to help stay in business and get through these challenging times.

WOW. I've never experienced such rude, unprofessionalism from a company that you're trying to give thousands of dollars in business to. I was a little weary of Red Fish because of the bad reviews on yelp, but we decided to give it a try as an option for our engagement party. Our planner reached out to Celerino Bautista, one of the owners who deals with catering, to set up a tasting for us to try the Persian food and their sushi. She had been in communication with him and confirmed on Saturday as well as Monday for our Tuesday afternoon tasting at 4pm. After all leaving work early and making schedule changes, we all trekked from the valley over to the westside and arrived early at 3:30. We spoke to Alma letting her know we arrived for our 4pm food tasting. Alma said she was not sure what we were talking about because Celerino had not alerted the restaurant about the tasting. When we asked to speak with him, she said he left the restaurant 30 mins prior to us arriving because of an emergency. I understand emergencies happen, but at least let your staff know to expect us and have things ready. Alma told us we could taste the sushi that's on the catering menu so we ordered that for the meantime until our planner arrived. When our planner arrived, she told us that Celerino had confirmed with her and when she called him (after we call we her explaining the situation), he was completely rude and blamed her saying he didn't confirm and if we wanted to leave we could just leave. She sent him screenshots of her confirming and he then accepted responsibility and apologized. In the meantime, Melinda or Melly was giving us the runaround. She said there was no way for us to try the meat because it needed to be marinated. Obviously Celerino had never told the restaurant about the tasting period. She also said that we could try the salads, but would need to pick a few since the chefs would have to make them fresh. We asked to see the catering menu and let Alma know which salads we wanted to try. Alma then said that we couldn't try any salads because they don't keep produce at the restaurant and would need to order it specifically for the tasting, but beforehand. So what Alma said completely contradicted what Melinda had told us. At this point we were so mad and shocked from the awful service we were getting. We asked Melly who the owner of the company was and she said "I'm not sure." I responded with "What? You're not sure who the owner of the company is? You don't know who you work for? Is it you don't know or you don't want to tell us?" She said "I'm not allowed to tell you." My aunt sent a quick message to our lawyer and was able to find who the owner was in 2 minutes. Celerino finally showed up as we were walking out at about 5:15. He apologized but he was not sorry. It wasn't an authentic apology. We will be taking our business to another caterer who appreciates the business. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

When I made reservations on the phone I asked about the latest reservation and confirmed 10 pm - however I asked if I could sit at the bar and they said not at that time since they closed at 11. When we arrived, there was a couple coming in at 10 and sat at bar...maybe just miscommunication but tha could have prevented us from consuming our food quick and skipping on alcohol since the table we got was not the best. Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.

While the fish quality here is great, you will get more bites that seem a lot more experimental with flavors and garnishes. I didn't like every single bite but I expected that. A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. Brought my friend here for her bday and we left full and happy and a little drunk so I'd say it was a successful night!

It's the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy your meal, and have a good conversation. The food was consistently good. Fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavors, and a few signature rolls that felt thoughtfully done without trying too hard. Service was another highlight--easygoing, attentive in a subtle way, and never intrusive. If I had to point out one thing, it would be that a few dishes didn't quite have that "wow" factor. But sometimes, I appreciate a place that simply gets everything right without overcomplicating it. Definitely somewhere I'd return to--and perhaps bring the right company next time.
