    Manhattan style chowder
    Karen W.

Food is clean and fresh, service is attentive, ambience is relaxing. This restaurant is located in a building with a garage and you get 3 hours of parking. It was confusing at first as you have to install the parking app with your car information and credit card which is a bit of a hassle. So I did all that and was afraid that without validation, you would get charged but the server at the restaurant said not to worry about it. Everything is tasty and fresh. Hubby ordered the fish taco and manhattan style fish chowder and I ordered the grilled fish sandwich and baked potato.

Delicious flaky mesquite grilled red snapper and baked potato

After driving past the Fish Grill on Pico, located on the Balcony at Beverwil, during our recent trips to Los Angeles, my husband and I decided to give it a try--and we're so glad we did! This is a restaurant with a straightforward focus - great seafood - and it delivers! The patio looked inviting, but we opted to sit inside, surrounded by an array of great historic fishing photos that I loved which matched the restaurant's seafood theme perfectly. The history of fishing is fascinating if you take the time to study it! The menu reflects their tagline, "Simply the freshest," and they truly live up to that promise of fresh delicious seafood. We both tried the mesquite grilled red snapper with a baked potato and coleslaw, and it was a very fresh, flavorful, and a healthy option. They also offer a wide variety of other seafood options, including grilled specialties like trout, ahi tuna, white fish and salmon as well as tacos, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. For something heartier, the fish & chips or southern-style trout look to be excellent choices, while the smoked salmon or grilled ahi salads would be perfect for lighter meals. The restaurant was comfortably filled with restaurant fans, ranging from solo diners, couples to large families, and there was a steady flow of takeout orders. Despite the activity, the casual atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, providing a nice sanctuary in a busy city. The friendly staff answered our questions patiently and ensured we had a very pleasant experience. We were also pleased to see they offer catering, making it easy for groups to enjoy their fresh seafood at events or gatherings. In the City of Los Angeles, where parking is very limited, their convenient parking in the downstairs garage with an elevator made it easy to get in and out and ADA accessible, too. The restaurant is Kosher and closed on Friday evenings and Saturdays, a detail that reflects their commitment to quality and tradition. The Fish Grill on Pico is a wonderful spot for groups, families, or solo diners, delivering top-quality seafood in a very relaxed setting. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

Grilled fish tacos with a baked potato and salad side.

Fish Grill is located in a complex on Pico and Beverwil. There is free underground parking in the complex. There is a CVS on there as well. Both are located on the second floor. They are a casual order at the counter type of place. There is some outdoor seating but no umbrellas so wear a hat. They have eat in and take out. Fish grill is a kosher (pareve (no dairy, no meat)) restaurant that specializes in fish. They have both wild and farmed fish. The menu is simple. It features grilled fish you can have by itself with 2 sides. However, you can also get your fish in tacos, a salad, over pasta, or in a wrap. They also have fish and chips and even a fish soup. Since, the last time I have been here (pre-pandemic) I noticed the prices have shot up a lot. For example, the fish tacos I used to order for $12.95 are now $17. I hope they adjust the prices to make eating here more affordable. My tacos were delicious. You have a choice of grilled or crispy. I got the grilled fish. They were delicious and saucy, just the way I like them. They are stuffed with cabbage, tomatoes, and tartar sauce. They give you a side of tartar sauce but I did not need it. The sides I chose were the baked potato and a simple green salad that comes with tomatoes and onions and a choice of honey mustard or caesar dressing. My dining partner had grilled white fish which is wild caught. They had the same sides as me. We both really enjoyed our meals. I had to bring something home for a vegetarian. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find something on the menu as it is a fish based place. However, I am happy to report that the veggie wrap was reported to be delicious. It had tomatoes, lettuce, onions, grilled peppers and sauce. They chose a side of coleslaw and french fries for an extra $2. They loved the fries (they were the thin variety) and they were a bit greasy for me but the person who ordered them liked them. I wish they had the thicker steak fries but that's just my preference. I suggest the baked potato instead. Fish Grill is such a simple concept and yet, it is always consistently good. Making a good piece of fish is a talent and this place knows what they are doing. .

Prices keep going up. $30 for a fish and chips is extortion. Used to be $14 just 3 years ago. Never ordering or going here again

Good for simply-prepared fresh fish sandwiches and plates with good fries and cole slaw. But, not much in terms of ambiance.

When they sat 6 of us down first, there were only 5 settings, so it seemed pretty natural to bring us a sixth set of utensils. But when we realized they missed it, we ended asked them. Not a big deal. But when our remaining two friends came, they sat them with us and brought out only 1 set of utensils, so we had to ask for it again. I decided to stay anyway since I was waiting for my husband to finish at the tattoo parlor down the street (highly recommend). I knew I was only there for a few glasses of wine anyway. The first waiter/bartender was amazing, great attitude and fast service. He brought me water along with my drink and came around multiple times to check if everything was ok or needed anything else. He went on his meal break and a new waitress clocked in. That's when it went downhill. There was one other table other than me in the patio and she didn't get up once to check on us for over 30 minutes, too busy on her phone with her headphones in (see photo). My glass was empty and I noticed she looked up at me but because I was reading she pretended not to notice. I eventually waved her down. Wish I could give this place a higher rating due to the first waiter, but the waitress really brought it down. The food smelled amazing so I'm still willing to give them another shot.

I'm mainly giving such a bad review for the service (or should I say lack thereof). like some of the other poor reviews I read, I had a very unwelcoming experience especially from one of the owners. they clearly are fond of their regulars and the place was filled with all white customers excluding us - that should have been my first sign to leave. although it was not crowded at all when we came and we had a res, it took a while for the owner to seat us. he was about to walk right past us at first. he let us know he'd come back to tell us the specials but after about 10 mins, another waiter came to take our order. the waiter was nice to us but it seemed like he was purposely ignoring us. people who came and ordered after us got their food before us and we were barely checked on (which is usually fine but they went around to literally every other table but ours). I saw how warmly the staff and owner interacted with the other tables and I don't need that level of service, but the basic level wasn't even met. we decided to leave soon after our entrees arrived but it took the longest time to flag someone down to get to-go boxes, then to get the check. not sure if they're racist but that's what I picked up especially as other reviewers with similar experiences are not white either. safe to say, i will not be supporting this restaurant in the future and I only wish I saw a review like this before making a res.
