Really great breakfast to have before you have to face down the prospect of airplane food! On the pricy side, but within expected airport range. The staff are SO lovely, which is something you don't take for granted when you're travelling and have a higher baseline stress level. The bar and kitchen-side counter have outlets, which is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One downside: the air conditioning doesn't work. In the high heat of summer, you'll feel it the instant you walk into the restaurant space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're sensitive to heat, you'll be fanning yourself with your menu. Mercantile has two locations right next to each other in Terminal A of the Denver Airport. The first location is to go only. The second location is sit down service. At the to go location a ham egg and cheese croissant is $13.79 before tax. At the sit down location the same item is $22 before tax and tip. (See my photos) Was the croissant good? Yes Is it worth $15? No. More like 7. But nobody cares to regulate airport pricing. The real question is why this disparity between the two locations selling the same item next door to each other. They also stopped making egg sandwiches at 845 AM on a weekday. And they said they would not make any more eggs for the day (at the to go spot.) This place was impressive, if a little pricey, even for an airport sit-down food joint. The short rib sliders were fine dining quality meat sandwiched between surprisingly light rolls and a sprig of greens. It was probably a top 3 slider ever for me, especially with that au jus on the side. It was a tangy complement to the main attraction. The servers were nice and attentive. We were at the counter so it wasn't very hard to make sure we were taken care of. The ambiance is good for an airport, but nothing memorable. It was very modern and had lots of room, but almost felt too sterile and impersonal. But what can you do with airport space and their restrictions on blending in with the rest of the airport? I bought the Priority Pass which allows you into airport lounges and the Denver airport had this location as not a lounge but at least a place to eat and get a good credit. Upon arriving, the host told me that the location would not honor Priority Pass if my card was attached to an American Express. Which is was. But she tried anyway and it worked so I was very grateful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was escorted to a bright and sunny restaurant area and I got my own small table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seats were pretty close together as this was a small restaurant so I had to hear both conversations of the people at both sides of me. I was at the Denver International Airport in May going home for my Durango, Colorado trap when I noticed Mercantile restaurant I had a grilled cheese with tomato soup and fries and two special sauces. I got to Concourse A 2 hours before my flight, so decided to go to a sit-down restaurant for lunch. I googled the best restaurant in Concourse A and the Mercantile came up. I was debating between the hamburger or sliders, so asked my waitress and she said both were really good. So I went with the sliders. Wow, they were amazing!! They came with dipping sauce that just made them so flavorful! I seriously think I will be going to the airport early to eat here when I fly out of Concourse A in the future! However, the fries were mid. I actually think they needed to cook a minute longer. I'm still giving this place 5 stars though because I was blown away by the sliders! read more

We decided to give it another try and were not disappointed. **If you are in terminal A, looking for a great breakfast, or really any meal, this is really good and fresh. We were seated immediately by a very friendly host and greeted by our server- She was great, gave some good suggestions and brought everything out very timely. We both started with water- making sure to hydrate!!, I also ordered an espresso and a 9 ounce mimosa!! She gave me a choice between the 6 and 9 ounce, and I figured why not. Per my peppy/friendly waitress, the restaurant recently changed up their menu u. Ugh!! This meant that no more of that delicious Beet Salad for me (I actually came here for it so to find out about the unexpected menu changed truly saddened me.) But I didn't want to leave. As steadfast as I was remaining, I decided to try something I had never tried before so even though the price was quite high, I went with the Ahi Tuna Bowl $34 to be exact.) The portion is small (not that I was anticipating something bigger.) If this wasn't airport food then it would easily be half of the price ($18 but no more.) The portion of the tuna however wasn't so stingy to my surprise. The overall taste wasn't bad either although I would firmly refuse to say that it was one of the best. This restaurant is clean; I know for sure I have never seen it dirty. I also like the layout of the place. Seatings are plenty. I have never run into a situation where I had to be on the waitlist. Been here a couple times but today kinda stuck out as a real moment. I thought it deserved a special mention. Jim behind the bar is running a kick ass program here. His attention to detail and the way he interacts with the patrons coming in and out of the airport is pretty impressive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He checked in several times with everyone and ran a super clean and friendly environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a couple mezcal paper planes that were extremely well crafted and we struck up a pretty great conversation about Mexico and tequila. The food here is TOP notch, which I was surprised by. They make a ton of stuff in house that was very refreshing for an airport joint. He was saying the Chicken salad Sandwich was really great. Wish I could do 0 star. I ordered butter noodles since they didn't have a kids menu and it came as a suggestion from the hostess. Okay, this is definitely a great restaurant for an airport. When I got here at 7pm on a Tuesday, the place was busy and lively, but not hectic. Drew took care of me, and made sure I was tended to whenever needed. I ended up getting the buttermilk chicken sandwich, and it was by far the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. The prices were definitely those at any other airport, but the sandwich made it almost worth the premium. Airport quick spots are not a good way to judge a local restaurant but it needs to be done. We have loved the original restaurant at Union Station for years. Being forced to A gates at DEN was a shame since most of the United flights use B which has the best eateries at the airport. But United has so many flights here that small airport destinations like ours last week use A. In early morning with plenty of time we needed some pastries and coffee. My husband chis some items that looked good to him, and was sorely disappointed. After eating some if the pastry. And a few sips of coffee, he dumped them. This is truly a rare thing for him.i, on the other hand had brought treats from a pms e at home and just needed a bottle of water to complete my snack. I never drink unknown coffee on the road. I saw a quick serve place not far away for him to get his necessary coffee. He did and was sated. I Andi picked up a scone from them and had another nibble for myself on the plane. Nest time in A, we will stick to the simple and less expensive quick serve option. read more

Firstly most airport food is not that good but Mercantile was so much better that most airport restaurants. I had your regular breakfast plate with eggs and breakfast potatoes but surprisingly it was quite good. I will hope to try something different and a bit more challenging the next time and see if they are good at different foods! read more

The staff were so helpful, even at the end of the day on a busy weekend. I had a connecting flight through DEN and am unfamiliar with Terminal A, but luckily found Mercantile Dining & Provision through the Priority Pass App. They close at 8:30pm and I arrived at 8:15pm. The staff were accommodating and explained that most hot foods were sold out, but I can choose from the grab & go section. They have a wide selection of healthy foods and delicious snacks for to go orders: - Cesar Salad - Cesar Chicken Wrap - Smoked Turkey Wrap - Fresh Fruits - Chocolates - Fancy Juices - Brownies - Rice Crispy Treats - Cookies - Kind Bars - Coffee - Tea Jackie was so sweet and patient, as she helped me finalize my selection. She's a superstar! I chose the Cesar Salad, Brownie & Rice Crispy Treat. It was a perfect meal for a hectic day of travel. The chicken salad was tasty and exactly what I needed to balance all the tacos I've had in Mexico. The shop is bright and clean, located on the edge of the food court, closer to Gate A39. We came in to place a to-go order. The hostess was pleasant, but the experience deteriorated immediately when we approached the bar. The dark-haired bartender responded with an extremely hostile attitude when we tried to order. We were told that the poke bowl (around $30) could not be made until 11:00 AM, despite it being 10:45 and the menu stating nothing about this restriction. When we asked if we could order it ahead of time and receive it at 11, she snapped, "NO, we can't even ring it in until 11," and then told us to wait outside. We complied initially, then sat quietly at an empty table near the hostess stand, completely out of the way. Shortly after, my friend informed us that the manager had approved placing the poke bowl order before 11. We paid, tipped, and sat back down briefly while waiting for the food. Within two minutes, the same bartender aggressively approached us and yelled for us to leave and wait outside. When my boyfriend calmly explained that we were simply waiting for food we had already paid for, she responded, "I don't care, you can go wait outside," and essentially kicked us out of the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This happened despite us being seated out of the way and not disrupting service, and in a high-traffic airport area where her reaction caused more disruption than our presence ever did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To make the interaction even stranger, after we waited outside, a male bartender brought us our food, handed it to us, and said "peace out" in a sarcastic and dismissive tone. This was one of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional food service experiences I've ever had. I've worked in the food industry for 12 years and attended culinary school, so I understand pressure and policy. This was not that. This was unnecessary hostility, poor communication, and a complete lack of basic professionalism. read more

The meal was delicious and the service from Juliana was excellent. I ordered an unsweet black tea and a Mercantile Kewpie Burger, which is a pricey $24 but it was a perfectly cooked and large burger. The decor is beautiful and makes you forget you're in an airport for a few minutes, which was a welcome respite. I highly recommend it for anyone coming through the Denver airport with a bit of time, money and an appetite. read more

I'm a bit surprised at the lower ratings. I sat at the bar and had a killer sandwich & fries. Food came out super quick, prices were pretty dang reasonable IMO for an Airport. Service was chill, I have zero complaints. Bonus - I have the Priority Pass (not through Chase, mind you) - and I was able to use it here. I received my Priority Pass through Southwest and as such, it is STILL valid here. However, the restaurant does NOT allow the Priority Pass granted through Chase. I will definitely come again here next time I'm in DIA . Even if you're in a different concourse (B or C), you can easily make it over to A in time if you know how to navigate quickly through DIA with the different concourses. read more
