With us being from Arozona this was our first time being in one and it did not disappoint. Do not buy from here! They rewrap returned items and sell them as new! (FRAUD!) Bought a Christmas tree for my family. Not the cheap one the $250 one. Get it home to find out it is not the tree that it should be. The pre lit tree wires was cut / sabotaged. Thank god found this out before i plug it in and so my house does not burn down! Go back to the store to get this corrected and they act like I swamped the tree out. I didn't want my money back I wanted a Christmas Tree. They didn't have that same tree and refused to give me a tree of = value or better! read more

I bought a bunch of handles for my doors and have been back several times over the last few weeks since I needed more and they have not re-stocked, which is frustrating. Save big money at Menards? Not sure that's the best slogan right now to describe my recent purchase. I want to say spend big money at Menards after that last transaction. I got a standing lamp and it cost about $100 for three lights. Then another $18 for my daylights to brighten my room that is really dark due to the paint job from the previous owner. I know I could just go get paint and re-paint my entire office space but my husband loves the dark red color so I gave in and kept it. My thing was I was new to this store and only heard what customers had to say about it. So walking in, I thought it was supposed to be a good store for home appliances. I got another impression when I walked out and now think maybe Lowe's saves me more money than here. I guess if I need an appliance Lowe's or Home Depot does not carry, I will look into Menards but feel my recent purchase could have been priced better and the product could have been better. It was so hard to assemble this three standing lamp with my husband. We somehow with teamwork we got it all together and working but boy it could have been made better in China. If I need something last minute I will think of Menards as my last resort for home appliances. read more

I Was heading there to get some wood and some other things I needed. I parked and on the way up to the store I noticed a truck with fjb flags and trump flags in the back! Let me tell you I have NEVER wanted to support a store more in my life!!!! I love that management let's them fly the flags!!! I love it!! Menards is my 3 year olds favorite store . It has everything you ever wish you needed. You have no idea what you will see when you're in there. The staff is friendly, they have carts that fit children and babies . It's organized and efficient. I appreciate that they stay open until 9pm. I just recently went there and had to get batteries and while I got batteries , my 3 year old picked out PEZ candy. It was a win win. read more

Don't bother ordering online because when I got there nothing was ready. Very confusing for customers who never ordered online before on where to pull in to get your items. Needs to be more clearly marked as where to go so you don't pull into the lumber entrance which is directly in front of when you pull in? Put some signs up that tell your customers where to go. The mulch area is a disaster and if I have a nail in my tire I know who to blame. Save yourself grief and go to Walmart. Much easier read more

I'm disabled so I rely on companies to pull an order so I can pick up or have wife pick up. I understand ppl make mistakes but the last 2 orders, the items quantity was wrong, item was a returned USED part, or the wrong part altogether. Using the curbside option, I pay, (everyone pays), a "processing/handling fee". Having said that, wife returned the bad parts only to be told I would have to pay a restock fee for the parts Menards picked wrong. I also didn't get any credit off the initial processing fee. Worst yet, they left my wife up to own devices to hunt down the correct parts herself. What a load of B.S. I will only shop Home Depot & Lowes from now on. Go pound salt Menards! read more

I only went in for an online order pick-up and it didn't go well. I like Menard's for its pricing and different variety of items. The layout for the registers, pick-up area, and returns area just don't make sense. I had to go way in the back corner of the store to pick-up my items then through an open register line...waiting in line to get out. They didn't have rebate tickets in the pick-up area or the returns area. What makes matters worse is I ordered my items online and some of it was in stock, some I had ordered to the store. I had called once the delivered item came in and asked them to put my items together and I would be in by that weekend. I came in that Saturday and they had put half my order back out on the floor. Luckily they still had them in inventory. I had to go from the back corner of the store to the lightening department in the opposite corner at the front of the store. They should have not put it away but once done they should have gotten it for me and brought it to the front registers by the exit. I made a full triangle around the store, went to my car then had to go back in from returns to checkout to get a rebate slip. I was not happy and I have a balance condition. I should have just been able to drive to the back, had I known pick-up was there, then complete my entire transaction there. I drove from Gahanna to Powell to complete this purchase. They offered no apology or concession for the inconvenience. This will not be my go-to hardware store. read more

I am not the biggest fan of Menards but there are few stores that have the diverse inventory they carry. They have good prices and sales, a wide selection of products at all price points, and their stores are well stocked and organized. I think their frequent 11% rebate program is a marketing ploy to collect consumer data and track you as opposed to an actual sale. I would trade 5% off for my privacy as opposed to being monatized and becoming a commodity. How people don't realize this is beyond me but google and facebook get all the publicity. My number one issue with Menards is the lack of customer service and the knowledge of their employees. Menards is not a grocery store or clothing store, many of their products are specialized and for the majority of the people require a contractor or specialized worker. Tell me how a high school kid is qualified to work in kitchens or bath. Tell me how a teenager who knows little is trying to sell me $3500 worth of kitchen appliances. I stopped here on this trip because it was on my way home and their is a Menards near me that I would buy the appliances. When I was trying to have questions answered and make comparisons about different manufacturers I got no where because the kid had to spend five minutes comparing the two items on his phone. When I asked about different models within the same brand the answer was the more expensive the more features, not what the features are, the benefits, or anything with how I would use it, but spend more get more, spend less get less. I could have reviewed things online myself as the kid did and probably got a better idea of what was what. I came to the store so I could speak with a professional and instead I got a kid that has never owned a house, bought an appliance, and may need to shave monthly. I respect the kids that work there for having a job, but I disrespect the management who has put these kids in positions they are not qualified for and for failing to train these kids how to do their jobs once they did. People can spend thousands redoing a kitchen or bathroom and management needs to have employees in those departments who know their products well, the differences between manufacturers and models, and are able to encourage trust in their customers. Take Menards for what it is, a warehouse of home improvement that has untrained and unprepared employees. You would do better speaking to a manufacturers rep or bringing a contractor to the store with you. I will recommend them for their prices and merchandise not their employees or customer service. read more

Menard's in general has good prices on project supplies. I might stop by HD or Lowe's for quick small stuff, but for a big project I go to Menard's. Everyday prices are good; sales are great, and there are occasional rebates. This time I was pricing bifold doors and trim. They have a good selection of both, at various price points. I found them easily, and was offered help. This store is pretty much like any other one- big, open, well-organized, clean. Service was good. Road access isn't bad; the area is still being built up. They have some grocery items, which might save you a trip. read more

I placed a large order through their app that required delivery. The delivery charge of nearly $160 was fair. Paid for the order. The next day I got a text from the store that said their system "doesn't realize what was in the order" and because I ordered doors, I will have to pay for another delivery fee. I called the store. The first person who answered in the delivery/orders section said they don't ship doors on flatbeds with everything else, they only ship those in a box truck or enclosed trailer. She said it is a known issue that they are working to resolve, but there is nothing they can do. Then I was transferred to the department manager and then the GM. Both managers had zero concern for the customer experience, with the GM stating that they have agreements in the app that cover additional handling charges as necessary "so we can add delivery fees to orders after the fact." I was repeatedly told that I can either pick them up myself (I don't own a vehicle large enough, which is why I was good with the first delivery fee) or I can pay another $160 for the doors to be delivered separately. Be careful ordering from them online with delivery, the final price is not the final price. read more

I try to use Menards because their prices tend to be a little better. However, they are now 0 for 2 in providing support and I think their prices are better thanks to the cuts they make elsewhere in the business. In the spring when I ordered a refrigerator it came with two massive dents/scratches in it. One was a dent taking up almost an entire side of the refrigerator. After multiple attempts to reach customer support and get assistance I eventually gave up and it is simply used in the garage. Yesterday I received a delivery of stones for some garden beds I was creating. When I began working on the beds and counting the stones I realized they shorted me on the stones and I would be unable to finish the project (extremely disappointing since I paid 90 dollars in shipping). I called first thing hoping it could be resolved before I finished. I was assured I would be called back by the manager. I called again 3 hours later (and project almost done) to inquiry on an update. I was told they didn't know what they could do but that the person would talk to their GM right now and call me back "in just a couple of minutes." It has now been several more hours. I am unable to complete my project, have no update on when/if I will receive any assistance, and the only information I have is there is zero intention of any reimbursement or credit for the time this is costing me. read more

Menards is a bit closer to my home that Home Depot so I go there on occasion. Several years ago I bought block to construct a decorative retaining wall in front of my house. I thought the base layer was beginning to settle causing the wall to tilt and become uneven. What I found is that the blocks were disintegrating on the inside where they are covered with dirt. Not what I expected after 5 years. More recently I purchased a mattress that was advertised at $129 against a "regular cost" of $400. The mattress is a total piece of garbage. We used it twice and went to Mattress firm to purchase a real mattress. I went to purchase 2X4's and wanted to use the truck they rent for $18.95 for the first 75 minutes. When I returned the truck I was advised it would be $5 more because it was a weekend rental. Lesson learned. Go to Home Depot for home improvement supplies. Go to Mattress firm for a mattress. I'll drive the extra few minutes. read more

I purchased several boxes of flooring for my 88-year-old mother's home. She loved the material and the pattern (luxury vinyl plank). After having the flooring installed, she noticed glaring factory defects. All of the flooring that I had purchased was defective. At the end of the day, I lost $500 because Menards would not reimburse me for their mistake. I do not recommend Menards for any pre-packaged items (flooring or anything else that comes in a package). If you can't see it and guarantee yourself that it is good product, don't buy it at Menards because they don't stand behind the products sold in their stores. I looked up 3 types of decking boards I needed which were special to Menards. Found them on website, but ordering site had different lengths available so I ordered what I could. Got an email stating my order was received and I would be contacted for a delivery date. The day before the scheduled delivery I received a phone call that "we" had a problem, one of the boards was no longer available. I was not told this when I ordered, when order was received, or when delivery was scheduled. I was transferred to the lumber section to see if a substitution could be made and was met with the rudest person and the worst customer service. I was able to make a substitution finally and had to wait for that order to arrive. When it did arrive I received another email that my order was ready for pick up. I called to say I had already paid over $100 for delivery and just needed to schedule a new date. It took over 30 minutes for anybody in delivery scheduling to answer the phone, but I was eventually told what date to expect the lumber. The lumber was delivered on the day promised with SPECIFIC instructions to place the lumber in the driveway so as not to kill the grass. The delivery driver placed the lumber in the grass and his forklift left rubber tracks all over my concrete driveway and leaked either oil or hydraulic fluid while also leaving a few clumps of mulch here and there. I hope I am able to clean the driveway without any staining or pitting. All in all this has been a very nerve racking experience with some very rude and unhelpful people at the store and a very misleading website. I would not order anything from this company, especially if you want it delivered. I feel bad about leaving a One Star rating but they don't have anything lower. read more

This store is huge, well stocked and has plenty of employees to help you. They sell just about everything. I was looking for a rare light bulb and found it here - at half the price of amazon.com. I also got an ice scraper for .64 cents and aaa batteries cheap. If I didn't have a dog in the car, I'd have stayed an hour looking. The only negative is that you need a map to get to your product area as it is a maze of shelving. One day I'd like to come back and blow $1000 here getting stuff I want but don't really need. read more

I go into Menards Kitchen Center in Lewis Center Ohio. Talk to salesperson and I stated that I wanted to do new cabinets in my Kitchen. The only request I have is that I want real wood no press board. He says ok all the cabinets on this side are wood. So I order cabinets and they design the floor plan. Install all wall cabinets and start to install floor/base cabinets and you cant open drawers if installed by plan. I go back to store and they order new parts and smaller cabinet and it costs me $400 more for spacers after they made the mistake. Dept manager tells me 25% resocking fee if I return the wrong cabiinet. Now I have to wait 3 more weeks for replacement cabinet. While drilling holes in base cabinet I discover that the cabinets are press wood. No one has contaced me in regards to the issues. read more

Wanted to stop in here to compare them to the "other" stores in its genre and was surprised at how big it is and how much is in there. They have the same sections as the other stores (lighting, flooring, appliances, etc.) and good name brands. The ceiling fan section was a bit confusing as the ceiling fans have tags on them saying find this in section G and then you have to walk the shelves to find that section. They were running sales in there the day we went in so the prices on sale seemed pretty good. There's even a grocery section in there but I'd only buy that stuff if you were there already and only needed one or two things because those prices were higher than at say for example Walmart or Target. Customer service was interesting as when we were in the front of the store they acted as if we weren't there but as we got to the curtains/blinds and appliances sections they greeted us and asked if they could help. It's easy to get in and out of off of 23 and if you are in the area and need something it could be worth your while. read more

Stopped in here to pick up an item. Atmosphere: this is a large store set pretty far back from the highway. However, it is very easy to get in and out of it! It is still quite new and the entire property (inside and out) is very clean. The lighting is sufficient to be able to find what you seek and signs help direct you to the correct aisle. The aisles are wide and clear of obstacles. Associates: we have never had problems finding an associate able to help us and have been approached when we seemed lost or confused. During our last visit, the associate helped me find a large (and tall) cart for the item we purchased. He was also kind enough to help me get it onto the cart. Product: we love going to this store just to look around and see what we might happen to find. There's a surprising array of items, from DIY to food and pet products. Sometimes you just happen upon a bargain when you look around! We definitely enjoy this store and have never had problems with it. This is the first place I go to when I need something for the house because I can usually find it (with or without help) and get it for a bargain. read more

My parents talk about the military discount from Lowe's, I did an apples to apples price comparison for them and show them they were paying well over 10% to go to Lowe's it wasn't worth the so-called discount. read more

Maybe the worst customer service and policy of any retailer. I purchased an egress well for a rental property that I had just bought in the area. I usually go to Lowe's for these purchases but wanted to try Menards because they had the product on the shelf. Unfortunately I returned the egress well because of issues with the contractor. I returned to find out that the product I bought, even though it was still on order, that I had to pay a 25% return fee. I told the manager Tony Williams that I didnt know about the return fee and that I had not even gotten the product and it was not even 24 hours but I was going to be charged a return fee. I asked for his manager and he said he does not have one the next person in line is MR. Menard??? This is crazy that you get charged a 25% restock fee for something you don't even have. Tony told me many places charge a restock fee.. I said who charges a restock fee and he said there are some. I said not 25%. He had nothing but for me to call Mr. Menard. So if Mr Menard would like to call me and tell me why he lost a customer on the first transaction with a store I look forward to his call. Thanks, Don read more

I really like this store and have been several times. Though I've only gone to make small purchases this is the place I would go if I had a big project planned. For the most part they are more affordable than Lowe's or Home Depot. On my most recent visit to this store I went for a specific item; a cheap, generic wood frame door. I didn't have much time to shop and figured that, since I knew what I was getting, it would be a quick trip. Well, that did not end up being the case. When I got to the outdoor door's section I had no clue where to look. While walking around (and having that dumb "OK, I need assistance" look) I was passed by several workers who didn't stop to see if I needed help. After finding a worker he (less than enthusiastically) led me to the section I needed. Unlike most salesman, he didn't ask if I needed help from that point. They did not have the size I needed but after looking several shelves up I saw the size I needed. I had to look for another worker who could get the screen down. Eventually, a young guy helped new out and had someone in a lift come get it down. Now, common sense would tell you that if something has run out and you have more of the product you can put out that you would refill it. Not the case. In the end I ended up carrying the screen door to the front of the door (while pushing a shopping cart with my 4 year old in it) because nobody was around to help. I first came across Menards in Lafayette in In where my son lives and decided its great they are so far away I could get in trouble, leave the credit card at home, sooo many non name brand tools for a tinkerer that cant always afford Dewalt or Bosh... then they started building here in Ohio. When the Lewis Center store opened I was all over it. I do a lot of outdoor furniture and lawn decoration projects to sell, and find the treated lumber selection a higher quality than HD or Lowes, I also like the yard concept, dont have to load lumber on a cart , haul it to the truck and handle it again. For 99% of what I get I can back right up to the product. I like the ability to look at pieces on display in the lumber order dept to find something that might work better for a project Im designing. Their nuts and bolts hardware prices are fractions of other retailers, and the multi pack of nuts/ washers and some bolts is very economical for me. The only thing I go to HD anymore for is a certain brand of deck and construction screws that Menards or Lowes does not carry. Love my hometown Menards!!! read more
