My FAVORITE home improvement store is Menards in Bloomfield Hills, MI. This two story gem is by far better than any HomeDepot or Lowes. In my opinion, HomeDepot is more for construction workers, Lowes is for those looking for better quality and Menards is totally upscale and beats them both hands down. Before relocating from Keego Harbor, MI to San Angelo we purchased 2 ceiling fans for our San Angelo condo. Not sure what happened during our chaotic move, we discovered that one light didn't work after installing them in our condo a month after moving in. I emailed Menards customer service and explained that we purchased them in MI and installed them in TX with no way to easily return/exchange it for another fan. Menards doesn't have a store (yet) in TX. Linda w/Menards customer service took the bull by the horns and within 2 weeks we received not 1 but 2 light replacements for the ceiling fans. Talk about GREAT out of state customer service! Menards is simply the BEST. They could have said "you need to return the defective fan for a refund". read more

Clean, bright store that is well stocked with a "different" and more expansive selection of merchandise than their competition. Their prices are very competitive on most items. The store has an upstairs where you can bring your shopping cart up and down via an escalator. They sometimes stock different brands than the competition which are quite often better quality. They have a good selection of houseplants, including cactus and succulents. Their employees are helpful and the checkout is unique and efficient. read more

Our microwave suddenly went out--it started running when the door was open and stopped cooking when it was closed. So, we headed to Menards to find a replacement. The atmosphere was nice; the store was clean, well-organized, and stocked with tons of items! I even got a little sidetracked at the bulk candy section. The shopping experience was great overall. I spotted microwaves on an end cap, but they only had one size and brand, which wasn't what I was looking for. Thankfully, an employee overheard me debating whether to settle for it and took me to the microwave aisle. She was super helpful, proactive, and polite. I ended up buying some potting soil, Albanese gummy bears, 99-cent grow kits for the kids' project, and a 1000w 1.1 cubic feet Criterion brand microwave in black. It's not as big as our old one, but it was on sale for $64, and it gets the job done--great value for the price. There was also a piano player on the second floor, which was a fun surprise! The kids and I were excited when we recognized she was playing "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Another nice touch was the staff who helped us load everything into the car. Be careful when you order online! Ordered a bathroom toilet topper online that was shipped to the store. Waited 6 weeks for delivery, and then decided it wasn't a good fit for our bathroom. Nothing custom about it, just choice of color, but it turned out to be a "special order." When I returned it today, the SKU did not match the receipt so it took a long time to get the return processed. And the restocking fee was $120, which is an awful lot for an item returned still in the packaging. And now I wonder if we even received the correct cabinet since the SKU didn't match. Will not be ordering from Menard's again. read more

I typically dislike shopping at Menards. Most of the Menards stores I've been to are dark and dreary with virtually non-existent customer service. This Menards in the wealthy suburb of Bloomfield Hills shows that location matters! This store by contrast is well organized, bright, spacious, and even has a live piano player! I don't believe I've ever seen that at any hardware store. The bathrooms were clean and fully stocked with toilet paper too. There were a lot of items that are not available or are low in stock at other Menards. I asked a sales associate where to find an item and she walked me over to the aisle. The cashier was also helpful in explaining how to send in a cash rebate. I felt good about shopping here which is not a feeling I'm used to after visiting Menards. I will be returning to this location when I need to buy appliances and hardware. read more

this is one big @$$ store! Two floors of merchandise. Everything a grown-up needs to survive is within these walls. Their prices are slightly lower than Kroger's (I literally compared the prices in the app.), But I came here specifically for a trashcan that will fit under the sink that also has a lid and the only trash cans they had either were too tall or didn't have a lid, but I bought some hand soap and body lotion that should be amazing. I don't think I'll be back here for a while though but I liked it. People were very friendly. read more

I was picking up 10 bags of concrete, I didn't have a ticket or anything so I asked the lady working the gate if I could just park right on the side an grab my ticket and pay then load up since I had to get ticket from the back anyways, she told me it was fine an I could do that so she continues to talk to semi trucker for about 5 minutes then when he pulls off she flares her arms up at me an goes "what are you still doing here" and I said well i'm waiting to park so I can get ticket an pay then load up and she goes yeah no you have to go park in the front and do it so I had to drive all the way back up to the front, walk to the back of the store to get ticket then walk back up to the front and pay then have to drive all the way back around again and load up and when I was exiting she goes "you almost got me fired kid and gives me a dirty look" Idk what her name was but she works gate attendant and wore all red work jacket read more

Large, clean and bright store with a huge parking lot just off busy Telegraph. It is a two level store, having an interesting inclined moving walkway up and down to the second level. The cart wheels automatically lock when you get on and unlock as the cart comes off. They have a lot of home and home improvement related items, at good prices. The staff has much better attitudes than the Lowes/Home Depots. Every aisle is fairly clearly marked. read more

I have been in numerous Menards in multiple states and have never seen one this large with two stories of merchandise. This new location on Telegraph Rd features all the products you are use to seeing at any Menards but it would seem with a larger selection offering more choices to the customer. An example would be in the appliance section where they now have a selection that is starting to rival Lowes and Home Depot. I am wondering if this is a start of a new corporate strategy on Menards part where they are creating these super stores and are going to go head to head with the two big boys on the block, Lowes and Home Depot. In any event, I have always been a fan of this chain and this larger store just make me like them that much more. The only qualm I have is that their tool selection is lagging behind both Lowes and Home Depot where they do not have the big name contractor grade tools that the other two have. Overall four stars+ but they need to step up their tool game if they want a fifth star. read more

Terrible long return process, 25% restock fee on anything ordered online.

Went in for a bundle of shingles and some nails. Go out to the shingles area and there are no prices on any of the selections. Choose the ones I need and head to the registers. Cashier is ringing up someone so I'm next in line. As he's ringing them up, another associate walks up and turns his register light off. After he finishes with that customer, the cashier looks at me and tells me to go to another line. This is their customer service model? I'll never step into Menard's again. read more

I'm writing this as I'm still wheezing from walking around Menards. Not sure what all is floating through the air in there, but they need to run tons of air purifiers. Air purifiers can be found in aisle 2, 5 and 11 on the first floor and in aisle 22, 27, and 52 on the second floor, and various end caps throughout the store. This store is confused. I wanted to be entertained and tempted to buy things because the prices were so great (as their jingle says... Save big money at...). But no! I found a couple items that were cheap-ish, but mostly everything is comparable in price to other stores, which made me sad because I wanted to (sing with me) Save big money at Menards. I'm not going back. A. I don't want to die of an asthma attack. 2. The prices are not cheaper than other comparable stores. C. The escalator is frightening (ladies, definitely don't wear your stilettos). And 5. This store is not fun. Their top merchandising people need to stop huffing the paint and organize in a way that makes sense. My one word description of Menards is "Ewww." read more

My favorite Menards ever by far! Everything is flawlessly organized. Loved the two story concept, it display all of their products in a much more visible and noticeable form. Feels like an open concept home improvement shopping center and I loved the feel of it. I noticed items there that all the Menards stores carried but never paid attention to because of the lack of space for presentation. This store was everything. It didn't feel clustered, and actually enjoyed looking around at everything (things that I needed and didn't need). Customer service is also top notch compared to other Menards. I can't remember the guys name in the cabinets area, but he broke down the models of every cabinets and made everything seem like a piece of cake. Mind you I have seen the same cabinets at the other stores and always walked passed because I didn't fully understand how convenient they were for me. If I find his business card I will add a pic. He genuinely took his time and was very knowledgeable. So we will be driving back an hour (which I would pass about five Menards at this point) in the future to meet with him again and order the cabinets. read more

I love that the staff are wearing gloves and masks and are sanitizing and are just so careful and sometimes when I go I get the wrong size from them but I understand if I have to go back because they might be understaffed you never now during Covid so treat others very carefully because you never know but I highly recommend this place!! :) read more

Terrible customer service. Called today to try and explain my order still says partially delivered, which should have completed my order. I called just to confirm everything had arrived, as my status still says "PARTIALLY DELIVERED" and the customer service representative kept cutting me off to ask if I had checked online. I said yes, that's why I'm calling. The online status has sparked questions or concerns and I'm calling you to clear that up. Very rude, hung up immediately after assisting my request. Glad I didn't have anything else to ask bc I wouldn't look forward to calling again. Can't wait to pick up my order and shop another location. read more

This place is Menards on steroids. It is so huge! I've never been to a Menards with two stories. With that being said, I found their outdoor garden center a little lacking and high priced, for what was being offered. The section containing flowering and fruiting trees looked like it had been a victim of a recent storm and left completely ignored after that. Though the store is really large, the grocery area seems relatively small, with fewer choices than I'm accustomed to. The store is definitely in line with the Menard brand containing everything you could possibly be in search of. My favorite part of the experience was the escalator that takes you and your buggy up and down the two levels. I went up one time just for fun. They also have a good size elevator available. Check out was quick and easy, but that could have possibly been because the store was not busy. read more

I drove for over an hour and a half to get to the store to pick up garage heater and they did not have any notes on their desk from earlier phone call for pick up. Love this business. I typically was a Lowe's and Home Depot person and they opened a Menards nearby. This has now become my go-to store for home improvement. The service is friendly and helpful. The only thing that is confusing, and it may be just because I have to get accustomed to how the store works, but buying lumber is not easy, still trying to figure out the best way. And ordering online is the easiest method, a friend showed me the process as it is not intuitive, does not guarantee the quantity at the store. This is THE home improvement store - and so much more. Spacious, laid out so you can find what you want, product selection is superior to Home Depot and Lowe's and at lower prices. The Bloomfield store is right around the corner which means I won't be forced to go to the dingy Home Depot that's staffed by a bunch of part time high school kids that don't know the difference between a lawn mower and a 2 x 4! Or the Lowe's store that has less than a minimal staff on hand. I hope Menards continue to live up to their slogan of Service and Quality. If they do, they have gained a customer for life. This place is absolute GARBAGE! Employees extremely ignorant of where ANYTHING is located and send you on a wild goose chase to still end up not finding a particular product. Cashiers are notoriously lazy as well and tried to blame/proceed to yell at me for products getting caught in the check-out conveyor belt. I used to shop here for items the other box stores don't have, but I'll just order on-line from now on and forget this cesspool dumpster fire of retailer exists. I purchased 250 lbs of 'play sand' which Menard's gets from a company called Midwest Manufacturing. After pouring it into my grandkids sandbox, it was obvious it contained quite a bit of small gravel, not the smooth sand as described on the bag or that is safe for little ones. I took pictures and went to Menards with receipt wanting refund of about $15. They refused, told me to write their corporate which I did. Corporate refused to do anything, instead had Midwest Manufacturing contact me and offer a $15 Menard's credit, but neither acknowledged the obvious problem with the sand. A good local manager with a reputable company behind them would have quickly resolved this for me. Instead, they make it difficult, hope I will go away, and pass the buck on if their is a problem at all instead of asking me any questions about the real problem. This would be the opposite of Customer Service when a good customer advises you of a problem with product you are selling. read more

I went in to get some electrical outlets and when the employee in the electrical department couldn't find the item that the website said they had I asked if he could call another store for me. He said I could call them. He obviously needed a course in customer service. On a second visit we asked for a custom shower price. 1-1/2 week later.... Crickets.
