This has to be my favorite spot in Modesto. I am always satisfied with the quality of the food. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful and provide amazing service. I highly recommend this place to anyone considering stopping here. I can't wait to come back here soon!

Chicken Shawarma Plate and the Mighty Combo Plate

Came here on a whim and will absolutely be back. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were told the combo plate we ordered would take some extra time, as the meals were made to order. Totally worth the wait! Flavorful dishes and generous portions that even our picky toddler enjoyed. The restaurant was extremely clean and comfortable. So happy we stumbled upon this family owned Modesto gem

Fun Falafel Plate (6 Pc)

I'm so happy we stopped in here for lunch! My wife and I were feeling peckish while out running errands and we saw this spot on Yelp and decided to go for it. The space is a bit on the smaller side, so it's great for a quick lunch or dinner and I must also commend the staff on their friendliness. This place felt very homey and welcoming. The food itself was flavorful and authentic. You could tell everything was made fresh from real ingredients. I'm actually really excited to eat at this place again. We started off with the Me Mo's Mezza which included hummus, baba ghanouj, fattoush and pita and we added on an order of 4 dolmas. The dolmas were absolute perfection. The flavor and seasoning just filled my mouth and gave a nice, refreshing taste alongside the lightness of the dish. My only complaint is that we didn't order more. The hummus and baba ghanouj were so fresh, aromatic and delicious. Their textures were on point an you could tell they have really good standards for them. The fattoush salad is not normally something I get, but this changed my perspective on it. I expected this to be a basic salad, but the vegetables were fresh, their dressing was a perfect combination of fatty oil, acid and seasoning that was so well balanced. I'm also really impressed by their toasted pita, it was like a crouton on steroids. Moving onto our main entrées, I ordered the falafel plate and my wife had the chicken shawarma wrap. I didn't try any of the chicken shawarma, as I'm not a huge fan of meats, but my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. She said it was excellent but that she would order it with extra tahini sauce or hummus next time. Personally, I was extremely impressed with their falafel. They're on the larger side and I was quite amazed how they had a light, crunchy crust on the outside, but then we're so light and airy on the inside. Usually, I find falafel are a bit more dense and these were so different in all the right ways. They also had a nice herbaceous flavor to accompany them, just all around, these were pleasant to eat. When I checked in on Yelp, I was gifted a coupon for a free dessert, which, I used for a scrumptious piece of baklava. We had ordered teas before with our meal, but they were waiting on the tea to be ready and forgot to give it to us, which was no issue, we had waters instead. They gave us an extra piece of baklava so we didn't have to share one to make up for the tea, which I thought was very kind of them. The baklava was a nice, sweet little way to end a great meal. I highly recommend trying this restaurant. The food is great quality, inexpensive, and the staff is really kind. I'm very glad we ate here.

We came to Me Mo's after a long day of driving and visiting the almond blossoms. We were craving middle eastern food and happened to find this hole in the wall spot. It seems like a local, family run business. The space was small, fitting maybe 20 people comfortably. We walked in around 4 and the place was fairly empty. But within the next 30 minutes, there were like 4 phone orders and 2 families came in. And when our food came out, we can tell why this place was so busy. The food tasted amazing. The garlic sauce that comes with the plates was almost life changing. We got the chicken plate and the beef wrap and both had so much flavor. Would definitely recommend this place for a casual dinner with family.

Yum!!

This original location remains my recommended spot for Mediterranean food. Many Mediterranean…read morerestaurants in Fresno County are Armenian-owned, while only a small handful--like this family-run restaurant--specialize in Lebanese cuisine. Lebanese food is widely considered among the best expressions of Mediterranean cooking due to its vibrant use of fresh ingredients, particularly herbs, lemon, garlic, and olive oil, along with a strong emphasis on healthy, plant-based, and grilled dishes. It offers diverse, shareable, and nutrient-dense options such as tabbouleh, hummus, and falafel, making it both flavorful and nutritious. I always enjoy dining at Golden Grill because they exemplify Lebanese cuisine so well. Their dishes highlight fresh herbs like mint and parsley, along with garlic and lemon juice, rather than relying heavily on spices. The result is a light, refreshing, and aromatic flavor profile that feels both vibrant and balanced. The kebabs are excellent. The grilled cubes of beef, chicken, and kafta (ground beef and lamb) skewers are flavorful, tender, and juicy, topped with herbs and grilled to perfection. They carry a subtle smokiness and savory aroma, and the meats are beautifully charred with vibrant color. Their pita and saj sandwiches are also very well done. Each sandwich is warm and carefully assembled, forming a sturdy pocket filled with high-quality ingredients. They combine savory meats (or falafel and vegetables), creamy sauces, and crunchy pickles and onions into a balanced bite. The bread holds generous fillings without collapsing while still being tender enough to bite through easily. The pocket opens cleanly, creating the perfect pouch for the ingredients. For a small restaurant with limited seating that appears to receive many to-go orders, the presentation for dine-in guests is especially thoughtful. The dishes are served on clean white ceramic plates and trays, with the food carefully arranged and portions balanced. It is simple yet elegant and visually appealing. Golden Grill also captures the Lebanese mezze-style dining experience. As someone of Korean heritage, I appreciate this approach, since it is similar to how Korean meals are served with many shared dishes that provide variety in every meal. Some of the shared plates include Lebanese staples like hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, baba ghanouj, and fresh flatbread. Everything here tastes fresh and well-prepared, with distinct textures and aromatic flavors. The signature entrées come with two cold appetizers. The hummus is silky smooth, a velvety blend of garbanzo beans and tahini that almost melts in your mouth. The baba ghanouj is creamy, garlicky, and finished with olive oil. The tabbouleh is bright and balanced with lemon juice, garlic, and a generous drizzle of olive oil that ties together the citrusy and earthy flavors. The restaurant itself is clean, with tables and chairs wiped down quickly after guests leave. Service is friendly, welcoming, and helpful when placing orders. Prices are also reasonable, especially considering many competing Mediterranean restaurants do not place the same emphasis on presentation or on creating a mezze-style dining experience at no additional cost. While some may prefer other Mediterranean cuisines, I personally enjoy the fresh, light, and diverse flavors that Lebanese food offers. Golden Grill's citrus-forward dishes and extensive mezze options make it one of my favorite Mediterranean spots.

The food continues to be OUTSTANDING flavor, quality, and authenticity every time. I cook Lebanese food at home and have been a foodie for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food for decades. This restaurant is my VERY favorite. I can't produce and meals as good as we find here. My hat is off to the amazing owner, his amazing wife, and wonderful staff for making every serving matter and for making customers feel so welcomed. This trip I witnessed three couples (first-time customers) visiting Winter Haven who all raved about their meals and dining experience. They were thrilled that Winter Haven harbors such a fine restaurant and that it's quiet enough to hear conversations at your table. Easy access parking, peaceful and beautiful decor to boot! Finally, I found the time to go back and enjoy their food and drag my folks along while they were in town to experience it as well for the first time. We arrived around 12:30PM on a Saturday and there was a fair amount of people dining in (and a lot of to-go orders.) Not much has changed since the last time I visited - simple decor but also very clean and welcoming. We were greeted, seated immediately and within a minute given water and lentil soup. Right away, my folks were already happy with the lentil soup so they were excited for their actual meal. The server threw in an extra one for free which we definitely appreciated a lot. Thanks Wally's Cafe for the great food and the great first experience for my folks. One order turned into two orders in less than a week, so clearly, things escalated quickly. My spouse ordered the spicy lamb shawarma wrap and loved it. The lamb was tasty, and the spice had just the right kick to keep things interesting. I went with the chicken kebab platter, which came with FOUR skewers of big, juicy chicken cubes. Seriously, those chicken chunks were delicious! My platter came with rice, pita, hummus, and a side salad. The rice and kebabs were so satisfying that I was too full to give the pita and hummus the attention they deserved. Sorry, pita. Maybe next time. The salad dressing, on the other hand, wasn't our thing, so unfortunately, the salad didn't make the cut. Naturally, we returned last night because apparently, one successful kebab night wasn't enough. My spouse ordered the same lamb shawarma wrap (when you know what you like, you stick with it), while I switched things up with the salmon kebab platter. It came with two skewers of generously sized salmon cubes. The salmon was a little dry from grilling, but still tasty overall. I also ordered an individual lamb kebab and an individual chicken kebab. Both were good, but the meat portions seemed a little on the small side compared with the platters. Which brings me to my biggest takeaway from this whole kebab adventure: GET. THE. PLATTER. The portions are generous, the meat is delicious, and you get enough food to make you question whether you really needed that pita and hummus after all. The individual kebabs just didn't feel like as good a deal. Two orders in one week, and Sultan's Kebab has officially made its way back into our regular rotation. Uber Eats may have introduced us again, but the kebabs are what will bring us back. Five stars for the food, the generous platters, and giving us a very good reason to loosen our belts.
