Cute diner

Great little breakfast spot. Had the special and it was quite nice. I recommend the sausage patties. My husband got the fried bologna sandwich and really liked it. Our waitress was super sweet and the inside was clean and comfortable. We would go back anytime.

We love the diner look! We love how country and southern the food is. The best was the medium liver, bowl of chilli and the pineapple milkshake! It would have been perfect if our server didnt forget to add the milk shake. We already paid and were called back as we walked out of the door almost halfway to car to come back and pay additional because she forgot. Which was ok with us however I wish it was more thorough and smooth. Overall, a good experience with the food!

Stopped in for the first time ever on a Friday night and we were seated immediately! Our waitress was nice and very attentive! But she really rushed us as it was getting busy after a while. The food was really good though! We started with Cheese fries and wow! The cheese was like a good cheese whiz! For my main I got the club sandwich! I can't resist a club sandwich and I'm glad I didn't skip on theirs! My side was pasta salad, it was good but tastes like it came out of a container . My boyfriend had a bbq cheeseburger with onion rings! Everything was great! Fun diner in a cool streamliner trailer with fun 50d themed & music decor! We will definitely be back!

Place was very clean. Server, Whitney, was very friendly. My wife had French toast. I had the omelette. Sorry about the half eaten picture. I was starving and forgot to take a picture when the food arrived. I really liked the whole experience. Place to go for breakfast.

The food didn't have a lot of flavor, but our waitress was very nice. I ordered a cheese omelet, which came with hash browns and toast and a separate short stack of pancakes. My food came out hot but the omelet was literally just cheese and eggs. The hash browns were decent, and the pancakes were a bit dry. This place is usually packed, and has old fashioned diner decor. Perfect for a quick bite, or late dinner.

The cool retro 50's diner is alive and well here. Shakes, malts, hamburgers hot dogs and the kind of comfort food that conjures up the nostalgia of American fare made complete with the lively diner decor. First time and the service was great!

It was extremely busy on a Thursday night, but I got seated with no wait at the counter. I ordered the Julie's Grilled Chicken Salad, fried okra, and finished with a hot fudge sundae. The salad was okay, nothing special but just what I needed. I loved the fried okra, but I felt like there could have been more seasoning (but there is salt and pepper at the table!). The sundae was the real star of the show. It reminded me of how much I loved hot fudge sundaes as a kid. My waitress was super nice and I loved the decor, but it can be quite chaotic because of how many people there are.

We always enjoy Mel's Diner. Good, diner-style food from chili dogs to country fried steak. Fun atmosphere. Clean. Busy. Fun. Thanks for a great meal as always!

A little unassuming diner but offers great food and ambience. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. We all got so full we couldn't eat another bite.

The food was good. The service was good. We had to wait a little bit, but it was worth the wait.

Food was good, a decent value for the area. Still playing the face diaper game, so minus a star for that.

Got the onion rings for a $3 up charge and got 5 medium size rings. Just take the fries a sandwich comes with.

Ask the Community - Mel's Diner

Do they serve alcohol?

No, but based on the quality of their food, a few drinks might help! I'm pretty forgiving on restaurants, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Mel's Dinner. You'd be better off going to a fast food chain.

Service was excellent, my order was taken quick and my meal delivered even quicker. The cakes here are sweet, delicious and bigger than your face. I added Strawberries sans whipped cream and a side of bacon for some fatty protein. This is prolly the largest diner I have ever been to. Seating is plentiful, the decor is cute and not too disruptive, and the breakfast bar has a telly. There is even a pink Caddy that serves as a table for that unique dining experience. I didn't have time to stop and shop but The Sunlight does have a gift shop tucked in the corner. I will definitely come back when I next visit. The hospitality of the staff here is off the charts!

We went around 4pm, which was already busy but we got seated right away. The food seemed to be pretty normal for a diner, so I didn't expect anything that would wow my tastebuds. We were too full when we left, we didn't even get a dessert, which I would have liked to get a classic banana split. Em was our waiter, he was great! My only complaint- my husband ordered onion rings, which I think he was looking forward to trying but he got fries, Em took the up-charge off.

Great little place off the busy parkway. My wife and I walked down for dinner (okay, she walked, I…read morerolled). Great Chicken Salad Sandwich and Cher's Salad. Oh, I hate limp, doggy fries, but these were super crispy just like I like 'em...so extra points for that small detail. I usually comment on the wheelchair accessibility of places I review. The FBT wasn't huge, and one might have a bit of difficulty navigating. BUT, the hostess was shap as a tack and seated us in a nice nook where the chair fit with no problem. So I loved that, naturally. I have had some try to seat me in an area where no wheelchair could fit. That was appreciated. Speaking of sharp staff, our server, Brianna, was just super friendly from the get-go, and made us feel right at home. Our order was out to us in a jiff. I recommend highly. I may have to go back for a t-shirt . ( Oh, and check out the homemade ice cream place next door.). Incidentally, as we were leaving to walk back to our hotel, a fierce storm blew up sending us to take shelter under the portico of the near-by LeCinte Center. So...a romantic little mini adventure.

They taste greatz kinda like small mozzarella stick nuggets. We ordered four plate: grilled cheese, plain cheeseburger, buffalo chicken sandwich, and B.E.L.T. (bacon egg, lettuce, tomato). Fries all the way around. They were well-cooked crinkle fries, and well seasoned too. I had the B.E.L.T. which was great. In fact, all of the food was ideal and fresh. Between the flawless, quick food, and cleanliness, and the service I am missing nothing. Kylie was super nice and always there when we needed her. Overall, this place is a winner. Simple menu, all-day breakfast, and convenient location. Definitely worth checking out.

WOW! So much food. A true southern experience lol. When we were walking in, a guy walking out said,…read more"I hope you're hungry because they have A LOT of food in there!" and he was not wrong. With every entree you get a salad, corn chowder, corn fritters, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a dessert. Not to mention the entrees are huge. I ordered grilled chicken because I was getting tired of fried chicken, and of course they give you two chicken breasts, not one lol. Service was extremely fast. There was a wait when we got there, but it was fine and we went to the old mill store and I bought some flour to make corn bread and white bread. You put your name on a list and they call you in over the intercom that you can hear from outside. Wait was about 30 minutes.

This place does the business for its tourists and locals alike. The operation moved effortlessly,…read morewith people constantly coming in and going out. The wait time wasn't super crazy considering how many people were waiting. The corn chowder that comes with your meal was pretty solid, as was the bread that is similar to hush puppies, except sweeter given the pancake batter it is made with. The salad was mid, nothing great, as was the Sprite. As a soda connoisseur, it was missing something and didn't hit as hard as a McDonald's Sprite with the carbonation and syrup ratio. As for the main courses and sides, the fried chicken wasn't seasoned well at all. Neither were the mashed potatoes. Would definitely get a baked potato next time. The coleslaw was great, as were the creamed corn and ribs. Would definitely order those again. The dessert that comes with the meals made this southern comfort meal worth it and left us fuller than we have been in quite some time. The blackberry cobbler came with a load of ice cream, which most places cheap you out on with the ratio. The service from our server was top tier. He stayed busy throughout the meal with multiple tables, yet remained attentive to us, constantly refilling my sweet tea and ensuring we had everything we needed. Great experience overall and a great operation, especially as we enjoyed the view overlooking the water.
