Buyer beware! Our preferred movers double-booked our moving day, so we tried Melrose. They were not the cheapest, so I thought I was paying for quality. They damaged some small items and never followed up after I told them about the items. They said they would send it to a manager, and I never heard back. I even sent a follow up reminder. We haven't unwrapped everything and I'm really worried when we do. Isn't this why they have insurance? I mean, it was less than a couple hundred dollars worth of "valuable to us" items. We paid them thousands, and I tipped their workers more than the damage would have been. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I've given them almost 2 months to reply. Our team was Bagrat and Max and they were wonderful. They had a teammate call out sick and still were so fast and efficient. Very nice, very helpful, and even gave options to save time (meaning save money.) They disassembled and reassembled our huge bed and electric frame with ease and professionalism. I did a U-Haul move where I packed everything and had someone load the 26' truck. Then I found Melrose Moving to unload the truck and return several days later to unpack my boxes. These very kind and caring movers helped me with all the challenges one has with a chaotic move. The lead mover, Bagrat, made me feel cared for during everything. As a lone female it's a vulnerable time to have someone in all your personal belongings. I trusted this crew, nothing AT ALL was damaged. Only issue I had was miss communication when scheduling and confirming that boxes would be hauled away I had to hire someone else for that. read more

I'll start by saying the guys that moved me were pleasant and nothing was broken. Great! Now for the bad, I had a 1 bedroom Apt in Leander and moved to Buda, 45 minutes away. 6 hours and $940! I had another company move me from Hutto to Leander, about the same drive time, and it was $650 and nothing was broken. If you're Mr. or Miss moneybags, have at it. This place will get your stuff moved safely but I have no clue where all these reviews saying the price was great came from. I'll find someone else next time unless I suddenly don't care about $300. *edit Very unexpectedly, I was contacted but Melrose Movers and they wanted to make the situation right. Wow! Well, like I said, the guys were pleasant and nothing was broken. Not sure what the deal was, but I called to indicate to this company that my company was looking for a new moving company to handle our company moves going forward. We do between 25-30 moves a year, and were not happy with our current company. The lady with the heavy accident was "very" rude, and almost antagonistic. There are many options, I would stay away from this one. If they can't handle someone calling them with the winning lottery ticket, they certainly can't handle moves. read more

I hurt my back in the middle of packing and moving ourselves... Luckily, Melrose Movers and Packers had an opening within the week! Max and his team showed up during the scheduled window as agreed (it was a 2hr window, which in Austin I respect) and worked hard from the moment they started packing until the last item was in our new house. Overall, they took care with the items we pointed were of importance and were careful not to hit any walls or doorframes at either location. We have not opened any boxes yet, but I watched some of the packing as it went and paper was used to protect the items that needed it. Language Note: there was a small language barrier, but it did not hinder us. Note for anyone that has never used a packing service: loose items are placed together in large rolling bins. They fill a bin up, roll it into the truck, bring in a new bin,etc. If there is anything you don't want packed in that fashion, point it out! Packing service isn't a passive operation for the consumer. Roam the rooms as the teams pack and you provide direction (while staying out of their way, it's an elegant dance)... This has been my experience with any moving company. As far as value, they were competitive against the two other companies with similar number of reviews listed on yelp. This move was from a two-story 1400 sq ft townhouse (about half was already packed) to a single-story house and it took 7.5hours. read more

I've used several moving companies in Austin and I would say that this was the most professional move I've experienced thus far. Val and Bagrad were pleasant, communicative, and punctual. All of my items were saran-wrapped and handled with extreme care. That being said, the move took much longer than I was expecting. It took 5.2 hours to move my one-bedroom apartment. I've never had a move take more than 3 hours. That being said, no other moving company I've used has wrapped or handled my furniture with such care. Ultimately, I felt that the extra time spent was worth the price as my items were transported in perfect condition, but if you're looking for a very quick move to save money, you may consider using another company. read more

They hit all my check boxes for great movers! Nice, responsive, careful with my items, & worked fast! Made it to my place a little later than the slot time but they were communicative with me throughout the entire time. I hired them to move the big items from my 3rd floor apt to another 3rd floor for a max of 2 hrs. (All I could afford) Not only did they move the big items successfully in a timely manner, they also offered to move more of my items till the 2 hours were met. They could have easily bailed out like I suggested but they insisted on staying to move majority of my items to my new place which helped me out so much! The couch was a hassle to get out, but they were very persistent and were able to get it out without any damage to my couch.
