We stopped by Mellow Mushroom about 1 PM on a Saturday. About 2/3 of the tables were empty. We were surprised to find there was a wait list even though there were only two on the list ahead of us. Our wait was about ten minutes. We almost left but asked first if we could just sit at the bar. We were told that was fine but she was just getting ready to seat us. Well, it took a bit for us to really get seated. Thus, we were already getting ready to dislike the place. Our waiter was friendly, efficient and fast. We liked him so things started going uphill. The menu was interesting but we knew we were there for pizza. The pizza was great. We enjoyed it and ended up taking part of it home. Instead of a poor experience due to the front host, everything turned out nice. We will probably be back. read more

This place was not on my radar to check cause of the name of the place. But not it is on my to come back to restaurants. Had a good experience and a yummy pizza. If you like soft flavored crust then this is the place for you. I need to come back to try more dishes on the menu. read more

The crust isn't something I usually think too much about when ordering a pizza--usually the toppings are what's important to me and I just take for granted something is going to be there to hold it all together. I have to say, though, that the crust we had from the Mellow Mushroom was absolutely delicious and the star of the show, even though the toppings were good and plentiful. We got take out, and it was easy to roll up to the patio and get the order without needing to go inside the restaurant. The food was kept hot in a warming oven, so even though we were a bit late picking it up it didn't get cold and was still warm when we tore into it once we got home. The prices are a bit high, but that quality crust and our enjoyment of our food will bring us back. I never thought I'd wax rhapsodic over some dough, but here we are. read more

Food was good. A lil pricey but, who am I to judge. Could improve on the services. It felt like forever to place and receive your order. Other than that, I can say I've eaten there. read more

My uber cool brother recommended this place to me quite a while ago, only he goes to the mill ave one. I'm not cool enough for Mill, so I was happy to see one open here so I could try it. This place is relatively new so I expected the sketchy reviews, but don't let them scare you off--this place was great! From the ridiculously impressive beer menu, to the addicting soft pretzels with beer cheese (get these NOW!) and then on to the stellar pie, we loved it all. My husband and I rarely agree on pizza toppings, so it was awesome to be able to get half and half specialty pizzas without spending a fortune on extra toppings. We chose the Thai and the Potato, and for the first time we loved them both! I would say the Thai was our favorite. The curried chicken really stood out and the cool cucumber freshened it up nicely. Of course we drizzled sriracha for an extra bite. Yum! Service was also top notch tonight. Our waitress was on point and the manager really impressed us with his customer service. He really took care of the table next to us that happened to get the wrong topping. Hey, mistakes happen, but it's nice to know they care enough to make it right. We can't wait to return! read more

The atmosphere at this Mellow Mushroom lives up to to the name. They are open late (2am) and the bartenders are really friendly and down to earth. Chris, Dana, Gabe, Logan and Gillian are very friendly and attentive. The Happy Hour is a very good deal 3-6pm and 10-2am for night owls. This includes most beers and appetizers. The kitchen is open late (until about 12:45am) and it's the best food you can get on a weekday. You'll be sure to meet regulars and have a great time. This is one of my favorite bars in the valley. read more

I stopped on my way back to California cause of the name. I had to see what this place was about. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I was promptly seated. The server, Martha, came right away to take my drink order. When she clearly saw I was having a problem selecting she let me know I could get a half and half. I got the Great White and the Holy Shiitake. Both were amazing but I can tell you that I will be dreaming of the Holy Shiitake. YUM. If I'm this way again I will definitely stop. read more

My Mom and I were looking for some late night eats when we noticed Mellow Mushroom was open till 2a! (Pretty hard to come by a non-fast food restaurant that's open late in this part of town!) We walked in and saw a sign that read "See bar for service", so we walked up to the bartender, and promptly had our drink order filled and food menus handed to us. We ended up getting the Mighty Meaty, which was everything you could hope for in an all meat pizza, and we also got the Buffalo Chicken, complete with buffalo sauce, ranch, chicken and bacon. Both pizza's were delicious and we enjoyed their interesting pizza crust. Overall, I'm happy to see such a great place available for late night food on my side of town. The only reason why I gave it 4/5 stars was that it was a little inconvenient to get up and walk over to the bar for everything we needed since they had no servers working at the time. I say walk to the bar because we opted to sit at a table near the bar since the bar area was a little crowded. The two bartenders that were there did an excellent job getting to us as fast as they could, and checking on us periodically, I just think it would've been beneficial for them to have more help. I am unsure if no servers late at night is something this location does often. read more

I have been an regular at Mellow mushroom once a week. Andrew is the best bartend and he is our normally bartend. Tonight, I had one of the worst experience I have had in a while. We gave them multiple opportunities to fix the situation and the manager Tim was admit that nothing had wrong had happen. The first instance was when she told us to sit down when I was standing at the bar, while trying to tell the bartender Andrew what drink we would like. Then we seat down and she brought us a bartend choice without ask what direction we would like to go. Next, we order a salad it to 1 hour to come out, due to the fact she didn't put it in (back by the food runner), she then balanced the kitchen for her fault and said she would take 1/2 off. Then I order my normal which Andrew knows how to make, she then put it incorrect in the system, I order and cherry limeade she put in a strawberry lemonade. I sent the drink back and she yell at the food runner that "she still has to pay for it because she order it" i am sorry but when has yelling at customer every been appropriate. Also when has sending a drink back, that I didn't drink, every been an issue. Among all that Manager Tim's customer service was the worst I have ever seen. He did not recoil the situation at all and was unapologetic even tho his staff was extremely rude. The situation needs to be recoiled. I really love this place! They have a great pizza and a variety of different ways to enjoy it. They have a nice selection of beers, wine, and mixed drinks. I have been to this location with my husband many times and will definitely return again. The price is about what you would expect for a night out. Service has always been excellent, even with servers who look like stoned hippies (I mean that in the most adoring way possible). I have never had a bad time here. The only thing I would say is that this is not the place if you are looking for something outside of pizza and possibly a burger/sandwich. They do not have any "healthy options" but that is fine by me we all need a cheat day every once in a while. read more

Great food we really enjoy breakfast, we have always had good service and food, but this past Sunday we were a little disappointed, it took about 35 minutes to get our breakfast (6 persons the restaurant wasn't crowded) the scrambled eggs were runny, breakfast pizza over done and the sausage patties were dry and well done, they're usually plump and juicy. Maybe they have new cooks, not sure but it was disappointing since we eat they at least twice a month, we will try again next week. read more

They used to have a gluten-free pizza (with dairy-free cheese even if needed) that was very good. It was expensive but a good splurge. NOT anymore. Now it's just expensive. Looks like they've switched to a frozen gluten-free crust - that tastes like cardboard. Gluten-free has been around enough that it should at least taste good. We wanted to ask our server(s) about this change but they seemed too busy to talk to unless we were ordering another (expensive) drink. We'll stick with Mod Pizza from now on.... read more

It's a relatively new location in Mesa, AZ. The place looks nice and the staff are kind, but what worries me about the longevity of this location is that it's in... Well, Mesa. Mesa is sort of known in the restaurant industry as the place where restaurants die. Anyone who's been on Main St has seen the recession take the worst toll on this part of the city-- At least the placement of Mellow Mushroom is a means to get people to come out and spend more money. The pizzas are great there, but what really impresses me is the selection of beer available. Also, the outdoor seating area here is nicer, nicer than even High Street. I wish this location the best of luck. read more

I think the quality of the food has gone down drastically. It did not seem fresh as it had in the past. The service was not the best, but we think the weight or what might have been new. I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon because I could've gotten better food anywhere in the area I'm sure. I ate there early afternoon, and the place was pretty vacant. you seem to pay more for their pizza there, but the quality is lacking. Honestly, it wasn't even worthy of a picture. read more

So, my wife and I didn't intend to eat here. The other two places we walked into had an hour wait. So we came here, cause I felt the building looked pretty cool. 20 minute wait for a table, which was ok, but we also had option to sit at bar. I'm not a bar type person, but my wife wanted to so we sat. That is our lead up. The food was terrific. The bartenders were terrific. We are not alcohol drinkers, soda is our choice. All three tenders kept us refilled. They were all so pleasant. I checked in on Yelp and was excited to get a free salad for first timers. It came out with our wings. Both were delicious. The salad was served in a chilled bowl and the lettuce was fresh. It was a fantastic Caesar salad. The wings were tasty. Our pizza was delivered by wait staff. It too was delicious. The atmosphere was upbeat, everyone seemed happy. There was a happy buzz going around. All in all, I'm anxious to go back..I'm glad the other places were too crowded. Next time I'm in neighborhood, I'll plan to go here. Great job folks. read more

Great food. We ordered wings and the shiitake pizza. Though our waiter did take a while to get to us and he never gave us his name. Besides that service was still optimal and we had a great time. Prices are as expected when coming to a very nice restaurant. 4/5 will eat here again!! read more

Unfortunately this location was a huge letdown. We have frequented the Ahwatukee location multiple times and have always been happy with the service and food. The Stapley location was anything but enjoyable. Our drinks ( a beer and glass of wine) took 25+ minutes to receive, the food was disappointing in presentation and quality and the atmosphere was very sterile feeling and didn't have the good mellow mushroom vibe. Definitely disappointed! read more

Stopped by today for lunch. Upon entering we were greeted by a sign that said see bar for service. But no one was at the bar. Didn't see any employees at all. There were maybe 2 occupied tables in the restaurant. We sat at the bar mostly because we didn't know where else to sit. We ordered our drinks and after a long period of time a gentleman finally asked if we were ready to order, he was not the same person who took our drink order. We placed our ordered and got our salad in a decent amount of time. The plate the salad and bread were served on was stained and looked very unappealing. After having plenty of time to eat our salad our pizza arrived. The server had to make 2 trips to bring us plates and silverware. We requested ranch. We never got the ranch and our drinks were never refilled. The manager looking person looked our way but didn't check in or come close enough for us to ask for refills or the ranch. However, we saw him at the front door sitting down, with an open red bull, chatting with a person who had come in to drop off an employment application. There was another person floating around the restaurant, potentially a hostess but she was not noticed on the floor often. The manager looking person and the hostess hung out in the back. Leaving only 1 server on the floor. He was slow and was quick to share his difficult day with the next couple that came and sat at the bar. No one asked how our meal was. No one refilled our empty drinks. And we did not get the ranch we had requested. We had to flag him down to request our check. We asked for a box but he was unable to get that for us as well and he still never asked how everything was. If they are not going to staff the restaurant adequately for lunch they should not be open for lunch. I would not recommend this location or restaurant. read more

I really love this place. Great salads, appetizers (pretzel bites with dipping sauces), and their pizza...... wowser......REALLY good pizza. I probably shouldn't tell you this but this location serves a really good breakfast too. We've had breakfast here a few times and have never been disappointed. The biscuits and gravy is a little spicy and a too little sweet for me but that's ok. After word gets out about their breakfasts, we probably won't be able to get a table. Lol. The staff is also really friendly and helpful. Update: Still LOVE their breakfast! I usually get the build your own omelette ($9.99 for 3 egg and three ingredients). Their smashed red potatoes are a pleasant surprise instead of the usual hash browns. The French-pressed coffee is a delicious high octane caffeine blast. The other thing about this place is their employees. These people seem genuinely happy to be there - none of that 'fake friendly' service you get elsewhere. From the host/hostess to the server to the kitchen staff, they're all consistently friendly and everyone chips in to make your experience a positive one. It's not unusual to see kitchen staff or the host/hostess bringing food out while it's still hot. read more

Anthony, our server, was and is the shizz. He was everything a service ambassador should be, attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and a bright and engaging conversationalist. Dude is awesome. It was already a great day. We were there celebrating my son's promotion at work. It was not particularly busy, and my son and Anthony got in an incredibly detailed and analytical discussion about the pending NBA season. It was gripping entertainment to my wife and me. Tasty food: Killer wings, Awesome Pizza, Cold crisp salad... pretty good Cheesesteak. What a terrible effort for breakfast. In a restaurant with 6 to 10 customers, the bartender who was also stocking was our server. Needless to say stocking the beer was her first priority. I order the biscuit with a sausage gravy topper. Biscuit was good, gravy tasted like salty flour. An it was even worse it was cold. But not as cold as the frozen butter they gave me twice. But only after I asked. Why would you serve unbuttered toast and frozen butter. It just doesn't make sense. And the coffee that you have to serve yourself obviously is limited so savor what you get you won't get anymore. 9/10/2018 Right after posting comment owner messaged and wanted to send me giftcards to try the place again. Never happened! Glad better options are going up in the same parking lot. read more

The drinking water is moldy. I lived in Seattle for 10 years and became hypersensitive to mold. When other people cannot taste it in the water I can. When other people cannot smell mold in the apartment I can. Was not happy about the whole wheat pizza crust and pretzels. It was a little too different. Otherwise, the food is fresh, creative, and tasty. A lot to choose from on the menu. Servers have lots of personality. Atmosphere is what really makes this place. Good to take out of town guests. The music is "young", and a little loud. Unless it's crowded, which is often. Then it's too noisy to really notice. read more

I'll start by saying the food and cocktails were very good. The bartender and cooks know what they're doing. The pesto breadsticks, kosmic karma and cheese pizza were very good. The rosemary and mule cocktail was surprisingly refreshing! The vibe and customer service though....left much to be desired, I wonder if maybe we came on an off night but there wasn't a personality to put with this place. I mean if the intended experience is come sit while random people tend and serve your table with little to no customer relation skills, then yes they nailed it. I'd definitely sit at the bar next time. read more
