Yum!!!!! We came in with a Groupon. It had been 8+ years since my last visit to Mellow Mushroom. The waitress was very nice. The atmosphere was fun. I love all the paintings and decor throughout. The menu had plenty of selection. &Of course, I opted for the calzone. I did jalapeño and pineapple with a side of spicy ranch. The spicy ranch was great! I will also say that the creamy pesto is awesome if you like a creamier sauce. It was like pesto + mayo. I would have liked a bit more pesto flavor, but it was still a great sauce. The calzone was so fresh & melty. Exquisite! The girls got the pizza rolls from the appetizer menu & were freaking out about how delicious they were. My husband got the Howie Maui pizza which he enjoyed. However, he missed the "jerk chicken" addition in the description. He does not like jerk chicken flavor, but this was not the restaurants fault. Come for Trivia weekly with a group. The service is really slow.. ordered a small pizza and it literally took an hour and fifteen minutes. I thought they forgot about my order. I tried the wings on another visit and they were way over cooked, dried out and super salty. I love the Trivia but the food.. overpriced and not good so far. Been about 7 times now. Wouldn't go but for the Trivia unfortunately. They need to step it up for the prices! read more

How have I lived here for over a year and never knew about Mellow Mushroom?! A friend invited me to meet a few of our coworkers for Thursday Trivia night. I had to look this place up because you know... the name of this place sounds a lil sus, you feel me? LOL I am happy to report it wasn't that kind of place. It's a pizza joint and they have some gooood food!! They have a fully stocked bar, an outdoor patio and the indoor dining room is pretty big and roomy. Our group of 7 was seated at a high top tables near the bar. Everything we ordered was fresh and hot. It was delicious all around, no complaints of anything being undercooked or underseasoned. Our server was attentive and answered our questions. I asked for his recommendation since it was my first time there. I was glad he said I could do half and half on my pizza. I went with his suggestions, the Holy Shitake Pie & the Loaded Potato Pie. For a small, it was a great size, cut into 4 slices. I literally had one of each and doggy bagged the rest for my lunch the next day. A few of us indulged in their Lucky Buzz cocktail which was my kind of drink: fruity and not so heavy on the alchi! Although our team lost, it was fun to see people competing to win prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. What a fun place with yummy food! We bought a $50 Groupon and decided to give mellow mushroom a try. We ordered the apple salad and couldn't make up our mind on which dressing to get. I wanted blue cheese. My husband wanted the Greek vinaigrette. Our server Brandon said no problem. I'll bring you both on the side. The salad was delicious. For our pizza, we ordered the supreme large. It was very delicious. In addition, they have all draft beers produced in Arizona for four dollars. Again, this was a recommendation for Brandon our server he was awesome. He checked on a frequently and had a lot of patience. The beers were also very yummy. I would definitely return. read more

We stopped in this past Labor Day to grab dinner after seeing a movie. The service was horrible and our food (when it eventually arrived at our table) was lukewarm bordering on cold, which did not match with our previous visits. Upon arriving at home that night I wrote the manager a letter informing them of our experience and asked them to contact me. I was hoping the manager would address my concerns and remove the need to post this negative review. Unfortunately, the lack of a response to my letter explains the drop in service and food quality. The following is what I shared in my letter which details our experience: "Dear Sir/Madam: I want to provide you with feedback on our most recent visit to the Mesa Mellow Mushroom on 9-7-26. In brief, we were extremely disappointed with the experience. Upon arrival, there was no one at the hostess stand and we waited ten minutes before our arrival was acknowledged and someone came over to seat us. Once seated, the hostess did take our drink order and return with our drinks in a timely fashion. However, it took another 15 minutes before someone returned to take our food order. When our food order did arrive some 25 minutes later, all our entrees (cheesy garlic bread, boneless chicken wings and a small buffalo pizza) were cold as if they had been sitting out for some time after being prepared. The restaurant was mostly empty at this time so from our perspective we can't accept an explanation of the wait staff being too busy as an excuse for the poor service. After taking our food order our waitress actually sat down at the table next to us and proceeded to have a lengthy conversation about knowing the owner and being transferred to this location from the Tempe location with those patrons. We choose to come to the Mellow Mushroom over the other restaurants in the area for the exception food and service. Frankly, you failed in both areas yesterday. I would appreciate hearing back from you to learn if our experience yesterday is now the rule or the exception. In the past we have really enjoyed the unique menu, atmosphere and service the Mellow Mushroom provided. We certainly hope yesterday was an anomaly. We stopped here for lunch after church. Great spot for lunch! We also found a great Groupon that we used, we paid $25 for a $50 gift card. We had no problems using it! Our server was friendly and attentive. The Cobb salad was excellent and the chicken and bacon were really good. The holy shittake pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time! Dined last Sunday night with the wife. We ordered a 3 topping pizza and split a Caesar salad. It was my second time here and her first. The pizza was great albeit there weren't many toppings on there very skimpy. And the Caesar salad like dressing. We could barely taste the dressing on the salad. I don't like putting too much dressing on my salad, but there was literally none! Not sure who made this, but that person needs to be retrained on how to make a proper salad Not sure if we'll return to this location maybe try another location. $30.00 for a medium 14" pizza with 3 toppings, but they gotta do better with the toppings for the prices they're charging. From what I can see it looked like there was actually 1 1/2 meatballs on an entire pizza that's real bad. And the salami wasn't any better. This restaurant is so strange. The decor is very eclectic to say the least. It's a mashup of really strange gaudiness. Upon entering, first thing I noticed was the heavy metal blaring. Metallica and Black Sabbath to name a few. It was very loud and not conducive to a relaxing meal. The pizza is way overpriced and mid. I ordered a calzone, and the flavor was okay, but the ingredients were not evenly distributed. One part of the calzone was all cheese, another part was green peppers, and other part was steak. Visiting last night and LOVED it. Pizza rolls - new greek flavor, so good! Also got their version of a supreme but left off the ham, bacon, olives and it was outstanding. Went in on Sunday after church right as they opened. Great spot, plenty of parking and a cool vibe to the restaurant. The service was great we were greeted and sat right away and our server was attentive. The food was delicious. We opted to share the Elevated Cobb Salad and the Holy Shiitake Mushroom Pizza which we added shaved steak to it and holy shiitake it was delicious! The salad was great too but man the pizza was amazing. Didn't get a chance to take a picture as it was so good looking. The thin crust was perfectly cooked, the sauce and mushrooms were delicious and the steak added a great touch to it! Came here for the first time for trivia night with a group of coworkers and the inside of this place is very cool. Decorated so randomly but lit up and fun to look at. The pizza at this place is honestly delicious, I got a meat pizza to go and my husband can't wait to stop by in person for a more fresher experience. I also got the pretzel bites and tried an assortment of the other appetizers they have available. I will say the honey Sriracha wings are absolutely to die for! My team lost the trivia night because our runner took up a tag with no information so we came in second place, but it was still a really fun time. Our server was a really chill guy. It's a super relaxed spot and we were a big party, but he kept up with everyone and all of our orders. Came here to meet up with a group of friends. About 6 couples total. Usually that doesn't turn out well at any restaurant. People coming and going at different times, six different checks and we usually stay for 2-3 hours. It's pretty challenging for any server. We had a great experience with Robert. I really love the atmosphere at this Mellow Mushroom. There are lots of bright psychedelic colors, interesting paintings, great lighting fixtures, even a strange gold statue that looks like a giant Emmy award with bug eyes and a mustache. Love the neon imagination sign over the door, and the giant pizza owl over the window. Our server was really sweet, even though the service was a bit slow. It didn't bother us because we were chit-chatting. We ordered a Greek salad to share, as well as a thin crust pepperoni pizza to share. The Greek salad wasn't like a normal Greek salad. Even though olives were in the description on the menu, there were no kalamata olives. I was fine with it because I really hate olives, but if you were looking for them you would definitely miss them. The salad had lots of pepperoncinis, which isn't the norm for Greek salad. Instead of red onion, they used white onion. The salad was good, but it was not really a Greek salad. Thin crust pepperoni pizza was really good. I love their pepperoni - - it's a little spicier than most and so good. We also had pretzel knots. They are very good, covered with Parmesan cheese and served with a cheese dipping sauce. The order is really quite large and we ended up taking most of them home. This place is a nice, dependable place to grab a meal in a cool atmosphere. read more

This was an extremely disappointing experience. We ordered the steak and cheese calzone, and the peppers and onions were raw. The vegetables on a cheese steak are sautéed, not crispy! We bring it to the attention of the server and she was unaffected, rude and blamed it on the size of the green pepper slice. We ordered the spinach salad, it was supposed to have dried cherries as one of the toppings. It did not come as described on the menu and no one had the courtesy to ask whether we still wanted the salad because they were out of the toppings. They were not apologetic in any stretch of the imagination, only dismissive! Additionally, the server did not even deliver a drink that was ordered. We asked for the manager, that was useless. She continued to spew the same ridiculous excuse about the peppers being sliced too wide!!! The manager was a complete bitch, must be to the sister to the shitty server! Absolutely no regard for the food being below minimum grade! Although offered, I would never ask for any food to be replaced after I've complained. I'm not taking that kind of risk, especially with that crass attitude all these people had. I am severely disappointed in this restaurant that expectedly should offer a better overall experience. The pizzas here are really good! The crust was amazing. So crisp and buttery. And they had a lot of good flavors to choose from or you can make your own. The small size was a perfect portion for one person and the prices were decent. The atmosphere was cool. I liked the art and the classic rock music playing loud enough to hear but not so loud you can't talk to others at your table at a normal volume. The workers were all really nice and attentive. Brandon and Sofia gave great service as always. Nonetheless, the bar seemed really clean and organized.

The posted hours say open until 1:00am on Saturday nights. Not everyone has weekends off. I got off work and walked in at 12:00am, only to be told the kitchen was closed and only the bar was open--they wouldn't even sell me a pizza to go. Late-night food options are limited, and when a place advertises being open this late, you expect to be able to order food. Unfortunately, Mellow Mushroom isn't a place you can count on after midnight. read more

Gonna be honest. I loved this place living in Georgia and was excited they had locations in AZ. Been to this location 3 times. 1st and 2nd times have been okay, but third was my dad's birthday and I ordered my pizza (to take home, to be picked up by family member to bring home) and I cant eat onions. I'm allergic. So I specifically asked for no onions. I take a look at my personal pizza... covered in onions. That sucks and is a total waste of money. It's disappointing to see everyone eat their pizza and I cant touch mine. read more
