Best item on the menu? The calzones. Oozing with cheese, toppings and grease, it's a meal dreams are made of. Do I get it all the time? No, I sometimes opt to be a bit healthier by getting the cheese pizza instead (hah - there's less cheese on it okay??). The pizza is delicious and I definitely recommend eating in. We did delivery once and it was pretty expensive, but if you eat in and share it with friends, it's worth every cent. They also have pretzel rolls with beer cheese that are delicious. Haven't been here for a couple of years, but I visited during a busy lunch time. Had excellent service - Jacob greeted me promptly and took my order and then another server checked on me shortly thereafter. Got a half order of soft pretzels and a small house salad with their wonderful Esperanza dressing. With iced tea, the bill was $14.68 before tip. The 3 pretzels (which seemed to be whole wheat- they were not traditional pretzel) came with garlic butter and red sauce, though I mostly used the Esperanza dressing. Very disappointing. Stopped for lunch. We have been to several Mellow Mushrooms in other cities and really enjoyed. We sat outside on very uncomfortable wrought iron chairs and table. Service was good and attentive. I ordered the cheese stuffed meatball trio appetizer and an order of cheese bread. My husband ordered a slice of pizza and small Greek salad. My meatballs were on the verge of being cold, sliced in half with a small slice of cheese inside. Held together with a toothpick and placed on sauce. They were very dense and tough. My husband suggested taking them home and fixing them up. Cheese bread was good and the side of sauce to dip it in very good. The slice of pizza was fairly small and dried out. The Greek salad was fresh and nice size. This Mellow Mushroom needs some attention. read more

Great night to eat on their patio and the food and service were both good. Great White pizza with ricotta and feta cheese is good as was a simple pepperoni pizza. Chewy yet foldable crust and the spices and flavors were there. Cesar and house salads to start were good for sharing and just right. The Pizza was outstanding! It did not disappoint. I will definitely go back to this establishment. However there were a few hiccups with service and that's the only reason I did not give a 5 star review. Hopefully it's not a reoccurrence. I walked in there was no one at the hostess stand. I waited a few minutes before someone came to assist. I was told to sit anywhere towards the back which led me to believe that this is a seat yourself restaurant? There were however no signs. When my friends arrived we asked if there was anyway we could be moved to the booth that hadn't been cleaned in at least the 5 minutes I had been there. They were very gracious to let us sit in the booth. It seemed to take a while but we finally were able to snag the booth. They were out of a few of the drinks that we wanted. However when we ordered our appetizer and drinks they came out very promptly! Our pizza also came out in a timely manner. I ordered the Holy Shitake and my friend ordered the meat lovers. They were fantastic! Our waitress apologetically had to tell us they were out of silverware and plates. They did however give us paper plates. At the end of the evening out waitress also apologized for the service and took our drinks off from the check. It was a very sweet gesture. Great pizza options for gluten free/dairy free diets! They offer gluten free crust and also vegan (dairy free) cheese. As someone with celiac, they're usually really good avoiding cross contamination with gluten. I personally like to make my own pizzas at home, but when I'm not in the mood for cooking, Mellow Mushroom is such a treat! My fiancé orders the regular pizzas and those look yummy, too. We took advantage of the curbside pickup option during COVID-19, which was a nice option to have. Ever since I went to a Mellow Mushroom in Memphis a few years ago I've been telling my husband "If we're ever up in Carmel we should try it, it was really good!" The crust is good - there's something about it that makes it unique (and a little darker than most crusts). The specialty pizzas were a good value, given the amount of toppings they came with! -The pizza reheated beautifully! It was so good even on days 2 and 3. What I'd love to see change: -I wish there were a kids menu option for a small pizza on crust v/s french bread. My kiddos were okay with it, but I think they would have liked the crust much better. My and my girlfriend visited from out of town on a very-not-busy day, there was maybe one other couple there. The server was very kind, checked on us a couple times until we were ready to order. The food took a bit longer than expected especially considering there wasn't anyone else there. (I understand if they cut staff down during dead times, but they shouldn't cut it down so much the wait is a long time.) After getting our food, our server didn't check on us anymore and disappeared into the other side of the restaurant almost out of sight to talk with other workers. We were there a couple hours total because the wait was a long time and as also waited for the server to come around to fill our drinks again. The food was alright, I'd expect more from such a wait and price tag ($45). I could have made this at home in a half or third the time and not nearly as much money. read more

Although I hadn't tried their pizza, I decided to go with a sandwich and a salad since I was dining solo. This chain restaurant from Atlanta opened their first area franchise at 116th & Keystone. After parking in the spacious lot, I entered this large restaurant filled with colorful murals. Turns out they have created a cast of animated characters based on mushroom themes and can be found throughout the store. I entered and saw some folks working but nobody greeted me. Since there wasn't a sign to wait, I simply headed over to the bar area and grabbed a spot at the counter. I asked the first person I saw for a menu and received three: a food menu, a beer/beverage menu, and a daily special menu. I decided to go with a little Greek Salad and half an Italian Hoagie. The salad arrived quickly with the dressing on the side. The ingredients were fresh and the lettuce (romaine and iceberg) was crisp. The hoagie was fairly loaded with meats and greens. The meats were placed on the bun and the garden and dressing were laid out on top. I was able to fold the bun and with a bit of tucking, was able to keep all the ingredients in. My first bite was meat and bread, and though okay, it didn't do much for me. But the next bite, I got the herb vinaigrette and some basil and the flavor went to another level. I really enjoyed that sandwich. Though I was thinking there appeared to be quite a bit of bun, I didn't feel too full after my meal. I was able to get my bill paid and processed in a timely manner. The staff behind the bar did a good job of paying attention to my water levels and seeing if I needed anything. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. I just ate here with a friend. We tried 3 small pizzas. The backyard bbq, Thai Dye, and the Shiitake. They were all delicious in their own way. The bbq pizza had a little bit of a kick. The curry flavor is the Thai sure was very unique in a pizza, but by far the best was the shiitake pizza! This one will have me coming back for more!! So good!! read more

This is a restaurant that fits our family well due to their vegan and gluten-free menu options, so it's a hit with us! After checking in via yelp at Mellow Mushroom, we were eligible for a free pretzel bites appetizer. We took advantage of it and really liked the bites as well as the beer cheese dip served with it (for non-vegan eaters). Free is always in our budget! Our daughters, who follow a vegan diet, typically order pizzas made with vegan cheese and bbq tofu or build-your-own salads with any number of their fresh ingredients as well as all-natural dressings and vegan cheese. They've also tried the tofu hoagie customized to their liking. Hubby and I have enjoyed their Pacific Rim and Funky Q. Chicken specialty pies. The decor is pretty cool and the pizza even better. We had the Parmesan Pretzels with Beer Cheese and a Pepperoni Pizza. Pretzels were great and the Beer Cheese was really good. I'm so happy the Indy area has a Mellow Mushroom. This place has always been my go to in Asheville, NC and there's a location right here! We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with pretzel bites and beer cheese. The pretzel bites have long been one of my favorite things about Mellow Mushroom and the beer cheese is definitely an added bonus! The pizza crust is made from a similar dough which is surprisingly quite good! Overall the pizza is a little lacking in flavor, but we did get a plain pepperoni pizza. My family loves this location, and we are there a couple of times a month. In fact, we wish there was a location in Fishers. The location underwent a freshening of the furniture, but it didn't change the 70's vibe. Last night was a disappointment. We knew what we wanted, and ordered our meal and pretzel bites when the waitress came for our beverage order. The drinks (water & diet Coke) were off-taste due to typical washing with a low-temp bleach rinse dishwasher. One of our consistent aggravations is that the pretzel bites or pretzels are not so much appetizers as they are an accompaniment to the meal. Meaning - appetizers should be served BEFORE the main dish - WELL BEFORE. Twenty+ minutes after we ordered the pretzel bites arrived just as my wife and I decided to go. I asked about the pizza, and the waitress said it would be "right up". I told her to please box it up so we could leave. She went to the kitchen, put the pizza in a box and brought it out; Bad timing. Pretzel bites and pretzels can be help at temperature without degradation so that they can be served before the pizza. Hard to review MM. Always feel like the place has a bit of an identity crisis. Hippy-drug art on the wall, healthy and vegan and gluten free options, family friendly, with a bar? Pizzas here are original, with tons of vegetarian and vegan options. Ingredients are fresh, crust is different than other pizza places' (thick, buttery, chewy). MM can even make a gluten free pie. Oh yeah, the bruschetta is awesome - perfectly ripe tomatoes with zippy basil. So why 3 stars? Despite not being busy, the pizza each time we've gone takes close to an hour from ordering to serving. Servers aren't attentive and you end up feeling forgotten about. For the price of the pizza, the service kinda sucks in general. Though the crust is good, if I'm paying 25 bucks for a pizza, I want less dough and more toppings/sauce. I'd say MM is worth it if you are in the area. Mellow Mushroom's pepperoni pizza is almost exactly what I want when I want "pizza": chewy crust with just a hint of crisp at the ends (NOT CRISPY-CRISPY crust), tangy sauce, stringy cheese (and lots of it), and pepperoni that you can easily peel off.
