Just finished eating at this cute establishment. My sweetie and I were seated at a lovely booth and we were serviced by a warm polite waitress. I was very happy with the beer selection, and opted for the Samuel smith apple beer. I ordered my buffalo chicken which was ok, and my carnivore honey ordered the somewhat veggie small pie :) It was something new he wanted to try which was great. At the end he wished he had chosen the meat pizza with sauce. It was a good pizza, but he was used to eating meat on his pie. My buffalo pie had great pieces of white chicken, but the blue cheese seemed a bit watery. I only ate one slice of my pie before I decided to take the rest home. The restaurant has an eclectic feeling with funky pictures, and best of all it's clean. If I am ever back again in Augusta, I will be back to try a meaty pizza:) read more

Mellow mushroom had an awesome vibe. I was also very happy to find out that it was happy hour from 3 pm-6pm. It was $1 off draft beers and $25% off of munchies. I had an order of wings and a slice of pizza. Both items were delicious. One small takeaway is the service at the bar. Although it's Master's week it was not bust at all. We got a late start for my Mother's Day dinner and thought we were being courteous by calling in our order ahead 30 minutes before closing. Apparently we didn't use the correct wording and our order was mistaken for a "take out" order. We arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes before closing time and I was thoroughly disappointed when the girl at the hostess stand informed me that the "call ahead" wasn't specified on the phone call that we placed literally 10 minutes ago. Being an F&B worker for 30 years, I completely understand the dread of the customers that walk in 15 minutes before closing. However, the lame excuse given..lacked professionalism. 20 minutes waiting - 5 open tables and not seating anyone on the list is not acceptable. People leave, table gets cleaned, the next on the list should be sat. Nope did not work like that. Not sure no one was being sat with with amount of open tables but it was like everyone was in a holding pattern. Makes no sense. Gluten free za is yuck. I'm a MM fan of thirty years. With that in mind, they need to take a look at UDI's Gluten free pizza crust instead of the cornbread based yucky crust they developed. I'm sittin here at my fav Italian joint and brought them in an UDI's pizza crust to use for my pizza and I'm in freakin heaven. No, I'm not a UDI's Rep but pizza has sucked since I found out I had wheat allergy. Please, I beg you MM get another recipe or get together with UDI's. read more

Definitely disappointed with the service at this establishment. Waited over 30 minutes to get order taken and it was literally not busy. People were serviced before my family after we waited before them which caused concerns as to why that was happening. Waiter completely ignored table and serviced another table that walked in after us. Literally never gotten this type of treatment at a restaurant. Let me preface this by saying this: I love pizza. And by loving pizza, I mean I LOVE it. Mellow Mushroom is my favorite place to eat in Augusta. The pizza always tastes perfect to me every time I go to the one downtown. Service can be either/or sometimes, but unless it's super busy (St. Paddy's Day, 4th of July), I've never had too much of a problem. I LOVE the pizza at the downtown one. I've been to other MMs with less than stellar quality pizza (Austin, TX and the one in Evans), so I kept thinking I was building up the pizza for nothing. Nope. I've never been dissatisfied with the food I've ordered at the downtown restaurant. My favorite part of their pizza is the soft, plump crust. Mmm. read more

Loved this place!! Recently moved here, and my local friend took me here. I was nervous that it was going to be a super hipster vegan/vegetarian place, but it actually is pretty amazing. It is rather still hipster, but they have a pretty large and amazing menu!! Fun, friendly, quirky atmosphere backed up by great food! We ate here twice in the same weekend, just because it was so good. The portion sizes are good, maybe even a little on the generous side. The pizza was excellent. Probably one of the better ones I have had in some time. Good quality ingredients, combined with nice presentation. The salads are large, and good. A small salad, paired with a half sandwich is a full meal. The Meatball appetizer is VERY good! The meatballs are about the size of a fist, sliced in half, with a slice of motz, and held together with a skewer. Definitely worth the money! Prices are very reasonable, and service speed is about average. One of the few chain restaurants that we will seek out again. read more

I've been eating at Mellow Mushroom for 5 years, and I absolutely LOVEE IT!!! They're so considerate with my dietary restrictions. I'm a vegan and when I ask for vegan cheese, the waiter always asks if I would like to leave off the butter from the crust. I have been to several Mellow Mushroom locations: Savannah, Pooler, Columbus, Evans, and then this one. I think my "home" location in Savannah will always be my favorite, but this one is good! Service was a bit lacking, apparently calling ahead for a larger party still results in a 45-minute wait, though we were told we'd be "fine, no problem." Server disappeared after our meal came out, no offer of refills or more drinks. But the food was great, we'll be back! read more

I ate the stuffed portabello before I could take a picture! Always an awesome spot to visit when downtown Augusta! The menu has house specials, specialty pies, build your own pizza and salads. The calzones are huge ( take some home for lunch). The staff is super nice and they do serve alcoholic beverages for those that like to un-whine while they dine. The food is made to order, so it is really fresh when you get it. The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and super sweet. The space is good for meetings, lunch, dinner, or just to get together with friends and family. Prices are reasonable (remember, you get what you pay for). Always and easy choice when downtown Augusta. The atmosphere is relaxing and they have additional parking in the back of the establishment. Well, they have one up on the Pizza Joint... as they actually took our order here. Admittedly, the pizza (I think a hawaiian) was really decent. Waitress wasn't at all friendly... a stretch even to say "cordial." My wife accidentally dumped her sandwich (the clutziness runs deep in this one). Our nearby waitress just looked at her like an idiot--didnt offer to help clean it up or ask her if she would like to order another sandwich. Its as if she had already resigned us to be a "bad table" that she couldn't wait to turn over. We have visited other MM's... but won't be revisiting the MM on Broad St. read more

This is actually the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I spent the summer in New York this year and had tons of pizza there which is the pizza capital of the country.. This place trumps every pizza joint I've ever been to. The Thai dye pizza was amazing! The kormic karma was good too.. But over all the quality of the pizza here was amazing. Came to the downtown location today for take-out on a whim. Really needed some soup, searched for soup on here and remembered that I LOVE Mellow Mushroom's tomato soup. I figured I'd go with my norm and get that and a small Caesar salad. She said that was actually a lunch special so she rang it up that way. They did provide a military discount which was awesome. I actually really like the feel of the downtown location, maybe even more so than the Washington Rd. location. The food did take a little while to come out, but they looked pretty busy so was totally fine with it. Their Caesar salads are always so good. From the shaved Parmesan, to the croutons to the delicious dressing itself. I didn't even add chicken like I normally do and it was wonderful. The soup made my scratchy throat (thanks to the extreme weather changes) feel slightly better and it was really good, as usual. I wouldn't mind coming back to this location again. Maybe one day I'll try new things on the menu, but probably not. I just love those two menu items. read more
